Chapter 3

The night of her exhibition arrived with a strong sense of

anticipation. Serena had tried to keep her focus solely on

finalizing her work and going over every small detail for the

night ahead. Her long hair was spilling over her shoulders

as she bent over a large desk studying what the planned

order of prints put on display. Every so often her attention

would be pulled toward thoughts of the man she met by

chance and ended up inviting to her event on a whim.

It wasn't like the short blonde to be overly extroverted and

give someone new a chance to get close to her. His eyes

flashed through Serena's mind and she was officially

distracted. Biting her bottom lip lightly thinking about

compelling they were even now. Shaking her head she

forced her attention back on the layout for the exhibition

and where each of her photos would be carefully placed.

Serena finalized the layout and sent her manager the

small changes that she wanted made before opening

tonight. She had a couple hours to get dressed up and

leave her high-rise apartment to get down to the event.

Hours passed quickly leading up to her arrival at Fisher

Bay Observatory Gallery & Terrace which was close to

the Golden Gate Bridge. Everything was ready as her

taxi pulled up to a side entrance. This was her third

exhibition and the most one important yet. And not

just because a few high profile critics and clients

would be here tonight.

Serena stepped out of the car carefully and smoothed

her navy blue velvet dress nervously. She was grateful it

wasn't too cold or rainy for a knee length dress with black

tights. Her porcelain skin stood out in stark comparison

under the moonlight and hair hung straight and loose

around her shoulders.

Her manager greeted her at the door and gave her a

brief walk through before the doors opened to welcome

people in. Everything was perfect and every photo she

had taken lined the black walls was special to her.

Serena wanted to capture the simple beauty in everyday

life the way she could see it and share it with others

As the event began car after car dropped off guests

seemed excited to be here. Serena answered any

questions that came her way. She spent time talking

with critics and guests before taking a moment to go

out to the terrace with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge

nearby. It's bold shape lit up by dozens of orange tinted

lights. She leaned against the railing and enjoyed the

feeling of the fresh sea air pushing her long hair from

her face. It seemed like such a long time had gone by

since she spent that morning admiring It's silent and

bold presence.

Originally, she had planned on only displaying one

photo of it, but she added an additional one that was

her current favorite to date. The reason made her

smile slightly as she turned to go back inside unaware

that she wasn't alone on the terrace.
