Peter was sitting in front of his TV, brewing warm morning coffee, watching a news story about superhero clones that had replaced human superheroes. It has been several months since Peter stepped down his role as Spider-Man and also the disappearance of the Avengers. Peter, tired of every news being about the superhero clones, slammed his coffee cup on the table and turned off the TV, then went to his room.
Peter lay down on his bed, picking up a book that was on the table next to his bed. Then he read his book, he read the book for hours, every few minutes his eyes felt heavier. What was I drinking coffee for? he thought. Finally, he fell asleep, snoring loudly.
He slept for hours, until finally he woke up at night, his body sweating because he slept without air conditioning. He went down stairs and saw Mary Jane preparing the food she had bought home from her job at the Daily Bugle.
"How was your day?" she asked.
"10% watching TV, 90% sleeping. Even though I already drank coffee," he answered.
"Here, I bought Chinese food on the way home. Just eat everything, I've eaten at the office," she said.
"Thanks a lot MJ," Peter said, with a smile.
Morning has arrived, the crowing of the cock signals the changing of the day. Peter got out of bed, went down stairs and saw MJ preparing breakfast for the two of them. Then, MJ went to work, leaving the unemployed Peter alone at home, again. Just the same day but a different name for Peter.
As Peter settled into his routine of mundane days and sleep-filled nights, the city outside continued to grapple with the repercussions of the superhero clones' presence. The news stories he had tried to escape still found a way to seep into his world, reminding him of the responsibility he once carried.
One night, criminals were stealing money from a bank. That night, a superhero clone came to stop them. The superhero is Night Monkey, a clone created by Miles Warren, a scientist who works as the head of Oscorp's clone department, and the man responsible for creating superhero clones.
Night Monkey, a superhero who wears a black suit, was created by Miles Warren with a strand of Spider-Man's web that was hanging on a building where Spider-Man was swinging on , taken secretly by Oscorp. Warren is a fan of Spider-Man, because in the past, he was saved by the webslinger. He was hurt when he found out that Spider-Man stopped being a superhero because of his clones. But it motivated him to create a superhero that could surpass Spider-Man.
"If it isn't budget Spider-Man. What'cha gonna do? Kill us? You supes ain't have the balls to kill, hahahaha!" one of the criminals laughed.
"That's the thing. I *have* the balls," Night Monkey said. He walked towards the criminal, while dodging all the bullets thrown at him. Night Monkey choked the criminal and slammed his head on the desk. He continued hitting the criminal's head, he kept hitting, until the criminal's face turned into a sea of blood. "Who's next."
All the criminals ran out of the bank in fear. All the hostages in the bank then looked at Night Monkey, all with faces frightened by what they had just seen. Night Monkey came out of the bank and dangled away.
Morning came and news of last night's events spread like wildfire. Warren, the scientist who created the clone, panics, panicking about losing his job. Suddenly his phone rang. He went and took his phone, and saw that it was not just anyone calling him, but his boss, Norman Osborn. Warren then picked up the phone.
"M-morning Mr. Osborn. W-what caused you to call me so early?" he stuttered.
"You're fired," Osborn said.
"W-what? W-why?" Warren asked, worried.
"Come on, Warren, don't play dumb. Your clone killed someone. I don't want this to tarnish Oscorp's good name," said Osborn.
"But sir give me a second chance. I swear this will never happen again," Warren vowed.
"Okay. But if something like this happens again, I'm sorry Warren, but I have to fire you," Osborn said, hanging up the phone. Warren stood up from his desk, smashing the coffee cup he was just about to drink. Throwing everything he saw and screaming as loud as he could.
"I will make things right."
As weeks passed, Warren never left his private laboratory, eating only once a day, working tirelessly to perfect his clones, looking for even the smallest mistakes in them. Finally, Warren stopped, feeling that his clones were perfect. He puts his clones back out into the public, doing what they do best, saving the day. The public is back to loving the superhero clones he created, but most importantly, he still has his job.
Despite the public's renewed admiration for the superhero clones, the consequences of Night Monkey's violent intervention continued to reverberate. The city, caught in the crossfire between fear and hope, teetered on the edge of an uncertain future.
Days passed, Warren's clones patrolled the city with a newfound intensity. The criminals, once defiant, now trembled at the mere sight of a superhero clone. The public, too, began to question the ethics of these engineered protectors. The line between admiration and fear blurred, casting a shadow over Miles Warren's ambitions.
A bright morning starts the day in New York City. Miles Warren got ready, put on his lab coat, then went to Oscorp where he worked. He was riding the elevator, heading towards his laboratory room, when it stopped, and Gwen Stacy was waiting outside it. Gwen then entered the elevator, a bead of sweat trickled down Warren's head, nervous by the atmosphere. Miles Warren, who was almost fifteen years older than Gwen at the time, secretly harbored feelings for her. What should I do, what should I do, Warren thought.
"H-Hello Stacy, nice morning isn't it?" Warren said, trying to start a conversation.
"Good morning to you too Warren," she replied.
"I want to ask something, are you free this afternoon? Maybe around 5pm?" he asked.
"Sorry Warren but I've been really busy this week, really. I don't even know where my own hands and feet are sometimes," said Gwen, rejecting Warren's invitation.
"Oh okay, maybe another day?"
"Sure!" Gwen said, as the doors to the elavator opened and she left, leaving Warren alone. Warren smiled, excited, thinking he made progress, and that one day, he and Gwen will be together.
Meanwhile, in the evening, Mary Jane was on her way home when she heard the sound of fighting on a roof. Interested, she climbed to the roof and saw two superhero clones, Mojo Man and Captain Ultra, fighting a group of criminals who were trying to turn off the electricity, presumably trying to steal unnoticed. Initially everything looked fine. Suddenly one of the criminals ran towards Captain Ultra, and hit him in the head. Captain Ultra turned around and grabbed the criminal's hand, lifting him up and breaking his hand.
"I have to take a picture of this," MJ whispered.
Captain Ultra cracked his knuckles, then lifted the criminal again, and punched him in the face, then letting him go, making the criminal fall. Captain Ultra punched the criminal several more times in the face, and finally, he impaled the criminal with his shield, killing him. MJ gasped, surprised at what she had seen.
"Kill them all," Captai Ultra said.
All the criminals try to run, but Mojo Man shoots and kills them all with his repulsors, similar to those of Iron Man. MJ then photographs the murders committed by the clones, but the sound of his camera is heard by the superhero clones.
"What was that?" said Captain Ultra, looking in the direction where MJ was hiding. They checked where MJ was hiding, but she was gone in time.
The next morning, Warren was getting ready for work, drinking coffee, wearing his lab coat. Suddenly he got another call from Norman Osborn. Warren's head suddenly felt hot, sweat dripped everywhere, as if he had been hit by a rainstorm. Then he picked up the phone, his hands shaking.
"Go-"
"You're fired!" Norman yelled.
"Why? What happened?" Warren asked.
"Check the news you idiot!" Norman yelled again.
Warren turned on the TV, his eyes showing a frightened expression, as if he was meeting the grim reaper face to face. He fell to his knees, more and more drops of sweat falling. Oh god, Warren thought. The news shows a video of the murders committed by his clones, along with several photos.
"I'm sorry Mr. Osborn. g-give me one to two months, I promise I'll repa-"
"Enough excuses!" Norman yelled again. "I already gave you thousands of months to perfect those clones, but you kept messing up! You are a failure Warren. A failure that I can't risk spreading to my whole company."
"Please sir, just give m-"
"Good bye Warren," he hung up.
Devastation gripped Miles Warren as he knelt on the floor, the weight of Norman Osborn's words crashing over him like a tidal wave. The once-prominent scientist found himself cast aside, his dreams of redemption shattered in a matter of moments. The room echoed with the haunting silence of his lab, once a sanctuary of creation, now a tomb of broken ambitions. He decided to walked outside, trying to get fresh air, then accidentally seeing Gwen Stacy, having a breakfast with a man. Warren drowns more and more to sadness.
Driven by anger and desperate determination to salvage his reputation, Warren rushed to his private laboratory. The machines hummed, indifferent to the turmoil that unfolded around them. He combed through the genetic codes, desperately seeking a solution to the flaws that had unraveled his life's work.
Finally he found it, hidden in piles of papers, notes, samples, he found it. Composite DNA from various animals from his time working under Herbert Wyndham. He went in front of his TV, holding the composite DNA. His eyes locked on the name responsible for ruining his life, the name of the one who took those photos and videos, Mary Jane Watson.
Warren had not been seen for months, everyone wondered where he had gone. While Warren's life was crumbling, Peter is having the time of his life. He returned as Spider-Man and the public loved him again, all the newspapers and news discussed Spider-Man's return.
Sure, Spider-Man is back, but a new monster has also appeared. People see it at night, a green creature with pointed ears, similar to a monster in a fairy tale. The public decided to give a name to the monster, the Jackal The NYPD, led by Captain George Stacy had been trying to chase him for days, feeling the true identity of the monster was Miles Warren.
Mary Jane was walking home, as usual. she heard strange sounds on the rooftops, but she ignored them. The sounds made her feel even more uneasy, she finally looked up at the rooftops, but there was nothing. She returned his gaze to the front, suddenly, the Jackal stood in front of him.
"Hello Mary Jane," said the Jackal, making Mary Jane startle and fall.
"T-The Jackal!" Mary Jane said.
"So Mary Jane, you know superhero clones, right? of course you know, of course," the Jackal said So you see, you took photos of the murders committed by those superhero clones, right. Because of that, I-I lost my job, you ruined my life! In exchange, you will be my experiment material, hahahaha! Yes, yes! You will help me restore my reputation! hahahaha!" the Jackal laughed.
He grabbed MJ, then leaped across the city, on his way to his old lab.
"Stay here okay? I'll be right back," he said, locking Mary Jane onto a chair.
The next target is Norman Osborn, his former boss. And the man who ruined his life. He went, leaping around on the rooftops of New York to avoid being seen, until he finally reached Osborn's penthouse. There, Osborn was sleeping soundly, enjoying all his wealth. Seeing this, the Jackal was angry, feeling that Osborn was sleeping over the destruction of his life, then he destroyed Osborn's penthouse. Osborn wakes up, hearing the noise made by the Jackal. It was very dark, Osborn couldn't see anything, only red eyes glowing in the darkness. He blinked, and looked again, the Jackal was gone. He looked up, there the Jackal was. He jumped towards Osborn, hitting him, knocking him unconscious.
Osborn blinked his eyes, finally waking up. He was no longer in his penthouse, he wanted to stand up, but couldn't, because he was locked in a chair. He looked around him, seeing the usual items in a laboratory, microscopes, test tubes, and so on. He looked next to him, there was Mary Jane.
"You're finally awake," said the Jackal, holding a syringe.
"Let us go Warren!" Osborn shouted.
"Warren? Hahaha Warren? He's dead. He's too weak. The creature you see before you is the Jackal, hahahaha!" he laughed.
"Mary Jane, wake up Mary Jane! Try calling Peter, he can help, right?" Osborn said.
"Peter, Peter Parker? You're telling me that he is Spider-Man? Too bad he's too late, because you two, will become my lab rats!" the Jackal said, tried to inject Osborn with the composite DNA.
Norman moved around, trying to dodge the injection, the Jackal then holds his neck, then Injects Norman with the composite DNA. Veins pop out of Osborn's neck, his skin turns green, his eyes turn yellow, his ears become sharp, like the Jackal. Norman has changed, becoming a monster resembling the Jackal.
"No, not me, no!" MJ yelled in fear.
Meanwhile, Peter waited for Mary Jane to return to the humble house of his. His heart was pounding, sweat was pouring out, he was afraid. Then he heard a strange sound from outside, suddenly a small grenade entered his house and exploded. Luckily he managed to dodge in time. Then a creature came into his house, a woman with a long hair and a body like a beetle, and also came a creature, with green skin, resembling a goblin. Peter jumped out of the smoke, already wearing his classic Spider-Man outfit. Who are they, how do they know the location of my house? Peter thought.
"Who are you guys?" Peter said, and no one replied. "Let's talk with our fists then."
Spider-Man jumped at the weird creatures, attacking them with all his power. The beetle dodged by flying with her wings, while the goblin attacked with small grenades. Spider-Man dodged the attacks with his agility. He continued to attack, punching both the beetle and the goblin. He then webbed both of them up on a wall.
"P-Pete?" the beetle said.
"MJ?" Peter said.
As he looked on the wall, the goblin was no longer webbed up. He then got punched on the back by the goblin. The beetle gets out of the web, then lets out a loud squeak. She picked up Spider-Man then throws him out of the house. The three fought non stop, non of them backing down. The goblin was about to punch Spider-Man, but he dodged, and then kicked the goblin in the head, launcing him into a shrubbery, leaving now only the beetle left for Spider-Man to handle.
"MJ, if its really you in there, come back to me. I don't want to hurt you," he said.
The beetle then launched herself to Spider-Man, continuing the fight. After many punches and kicks, the beetle stopped, and flew away, and picked up the goblin from the shrubbery. Peter looked up to the sky, and falling to his knees, tired.
"I will find you MJ, I will cure you, no matter what it takes."
