"We have a picture of the suspected leader"

"Let's see it"

As soon as they see the picture though they get a shock

"But...but he died"

"I know"

"Maybe...maybe it's like Sherlock's situation, where he was found by people before he actually died and then got amnesia. And due to who found and rescued him combined with his amnesia it caused him to forget that he's a police officer and instead...he's now a criminal"

"We arrest him and get the answers then, it's our only option really"

"That isn't going to be easy, either emotionally or physically, emotionally because of...well you guys know and physically it's going to be hard because he has the same training we do, even if he's forgotten everything he still has the training and might subconsciously remember it"

"True, but we can still make plans in the meantime, as such let's get to it and go from there"

With that the group starts making plans to arrest one of their own even though they hated the fact that they needed to make said plans. But they also knew that if he had been in his right mind then Bradstreet would want to be arrested and stopped from doing harm to innocent people.

"Still, I wonder how it is that we never found him after his body was dumped into the river and yet..."

"Yeah, that's going to be something we're going to have to ask him once we have him in our custody and hopefully in his right mind again"

"True enough, now then...who's going to tell our superior's about this?"

That makes the rest of the time traveling group pause in mid plans with a look of horror on their faces because they were all dreading that conversation. Finally though Lestrade speaks up

"I guess I'll be doing that"

"You sure Lestrade?"

"Positive"

"Very well then, we leave it to you"

Lestrade heads to the office of their superior's and knocks to let them know that someone wanted to speak with them and was quickly given permission

"What is it Lestrade?"

"We have a problem sir"

"Oh?"

With that Lestrade shows his superior's the picture of Bradstreet and a brief background on the situation they found themselves in

"I see, are you making plans to arrest him?"

"Yes"

"Then I shall leave your team to it and once we bring him in we'll deal with the consequences then"

"Understood sir, shall it just be us that deals with it or should we bring in other officers?"

"I'll let you decide Lestrade"

"Very well, we'll keep you updated as we need to though"

"Good, by the way I actually have one restriction regarding who you use"

"Our consultants"

"Exactly, part of this is because with Sherlock Holmes working for both governments we never know when he'll have a Swiss government job and depending on the job..."

"Right I understand sir"

"Also we are to keep this quiet, or at least as quiet as possible around here what's about to happen until we find out what happened to Bradstreet and made him turn to criminal life. Hopefully it's simply a case of amnesia but if it isn't..."

"Yeah, that's going to be hard on everyone"

"Sherlock, think you can coordinate with the Swiss government for us, prepare extradition arguments?

"Of course"

"Good that should help"

"I shall also ask both the King and the Swiss government if I can't work in Switzerland until we arrest Bradstreet and extradite him back to England"

"When...when the others finally find out about this it will hit them hard what's happened"

"That's why we're keeping it amongst only us for now if at all possible, at least on the British side of things, we're asking you to have the Switzerland police take the lead Sherlock"

"Very well"

"This is still going to take time you know"

"I know, I just hope it doesn't take so long that we'll never get answers we so desperately need"

"Same here, same here"

Three months later and everything was finally set to arrest Bradstreet, though it hurt everyone at Scotland Yard that knew what was coming

"So...tomorrow's the day then"

"Yeah, those that don't already know are going to be hurt when they find out who we're arresting and extraditing back to Britain tomorrow"

"Yeah, unfortunately it can't be helped"

"You're right, just hate what's happening is all"

"Same here, same here"

"Now then it is officially confirmed that we can take part in the raid that will have one of our own arrested as a criminal correct?"

"Yes, and the flight leaves tonight"

"Then let's get ready and after that..."

"Yeah, after that is when things will get hard for everyone"

"Yes, but hopefully we'll eventually find out what happened to Bradstreet to make him change so much"

The next day the raid would go off almost completely without a hitch and that's when the officers from Scotland Yard would find out that the person that they thought was Bradstreet actually wasn't, but instead was someone who looked a lot like their deceased friend, especially from a photo that had been taken from a distance

"At least...at least it isn't Bradstreet but now..."

"Now we're even further from finding his remains than before"

"Still I think we're all going to want to hear the interrogation of this person"

"Yeah"

And so the British team got involved in the interview immediately per the person's instructions which surprised everyone

"So, why exactly is a British citizen, and we know you're a British citizen from your fingerprints by the way, doing as apparently the leader of a Switzerland criminal group?"

The person sighs

"Look, there's more to this than you think, you see, I'm an undercover police officer working to take this group down. I've been on this case for over three and a half years now and it's taken me a long time to get to where I'm currently at within the group"

"I see, who do you work for anyways?"

"I'm with the Glasgow police, my fingerprints can prove it"

And so the prints are run and not only do the prints prove it's not Bradstreet actually with them but also that the person in the detention room was an actual police officer. However a phone call was still needed to confirm their story about being undercover which was easily done

"There is one thing that confuses me though"

"What is it?"

"If you're with the Glasgow police in Scotland, what the devil are you doing primarily in Switzerland at the moment, and the leader of the group no less?"

"As for why we're primarily in Switzerland, how about you try and convince an international organization that got their start in Switzerland to not be there more often then not. As for being the leader of the group...that's not quite accurate I'm afraid, I'm only a section leader and still working on finding, and taking down the true leaders of this group"

"Oh, that makes things more complicated for sure, have you had any meetings with the true higher ups?"

"Nope, I'm apparently too junior a section leader for that at the moment, though I'm working on it, like I said I've been on this case undercover for three and a half years now so I already have a bit of credibility with the group, it just..."

"It takes time to reach the levels you are trying to reach isn't it Mr. Donavan, or should I say Mr. Bradstreet?"

"What...what are you talking about Sherlock?"

"Simple Lestrade, I suspect that Mr. Donavan is actually Bradstreet's brother, knowingly or not they are relatives, they look too similar not to be blood related"

"I'm willing to have the testing done if this Mr. Bradstreet is"

"We can't have Bradstreet's permission for the testing done, but we are still going to do it"

"I refuse if we don't have his permission"

"We can't have his permission, Bradstreet...as far as we know Bradstreet is dead, he can't give us his permission for the testing himself but...I'm sure he would want answers if he were alive and saw you"

"I...I see, then let's get this done so that we have answers about this"

It would take two days to get the results back but the DNA test would prove that Donavan was Bradstreet's twin brother

"So...what now?"

"Now...now I think we need to talk to the Bradstreet's and find out why you were given up, and why they never told Bradstreet about you"

"This isn't going to be easy is it?"

"No, it's not but it's the only option we have"

Ultimately the group would find out that they thought Donavan was dead, dying shortly after birth in the hospital before the twins could have ever been brought home. They also learned that Bradstreet had never been informed of his twin brother because of how painful it had been for his parents to think of their dead son, especially since they never had any pictures of Bradstreet's brother

"I understand, mom and dad never told me much but they said that they were told that my parents died in a car crash, that mom barely survived long enough for an emergency c-section to be done and she died during surgery, bleeding out due to her injuries"

"I just...wish you could have met your brother"

"Same here, same here but...where do we go from here?"

"Wherever you wish Scott, wherever you wish you don't know us and everything must still be a shock to you that you need to process"

"And you need to decide what you're going to do about your job because of this shock"

Donavan shakes his head though

"I need to finish this assignment, if I don't..."

"I understand, still...I think I might talk to Sherlock about staying primarily in Switzerland whenever you are in the country as backup"

"Except isn't he only a consultant?"

"True, but that's why I'm talking to him first to see if he can't stay there for a time or not"

"I'll help in any way I can" (sighs) "I'm simply wishing things hadn't gone on so long and that I was part of your investigation through another case" (winces) "unfortunately I know I can't control anything like that so it is what it is"

"Yeah, look, about Bradstreet..."

"I never knew my twin brother, but I will help you in the search for his remains I promise, just don't expect a lot of information from me considering my own mission"

"And we'll help your family find out why they were lied to and you separated from them at birth"

"Thanks, oh by the way you have my permission to reveal the fact that I'm Bradstreet's long lost twin, just no names or occupation please?"

"Then we might simply wait until your current assignment is done since I don't know of any other way to reveal yourself except through explaining your connection to the police, not with the way the reporters are"

"You have a point, very well then we'll wait until my current assignment is over with, which is hopefully soon"

"Well, with Mr. Holmes being a consultant for both governments and thus an official go between I think my case will be ending shortly, at least that's my hope anyways"

"Of course I shall help in any way possible"

"Thanks, by the way I've heard your history and am wondering just how you regained your memories, I don't think the others know how that happened either actually"

Sherlock sighs at that

"It was your brother's death Mr. Donavan, you see the Swiss government had decided not to give me access to news during my six months of rehabilitation after I woke up from a six month coma so I never saw the old reports regarding my apparent death. In any case after I finished rehab I spent the next six months or so simply exploring Europe, partly to see if any of it would jog my memory and partly because I had been cooped up for so long that I needed time to actually relax and enjoy the sun. It was while I was in Austria that I saw the news that reported Bradstreet's death and that news triggered my memories"

"Um Sherlock, which news report was it that you actually read? I'm only asking because there were actually two different reports regarding his death for complicated reasons"

"It was this one"

With that Sherlock brings up online the report that he had read that triggered his memories and allowed him to remember his true identity

SCOTLAND YARD IN CRISIS

Just over two and a half years after their star consultant who we shall not name in this article per their request was reported dead Scotland Yard appears to be in a crisis once more. Inspector Bradstreet has been missing for several days now as already reported and just recently was officially declared dead. According to Scotland Yard his death is related to a case they are not disclosing at this time, nor are they disclosing how he died though sources have told us that there are actually no remains for the funeral that the Yard is planning on holding. Inspector Bradstreet, along with a few other Inspectors are known as the golden team and with good reason, one of their cases...

"It may not have had my name, but seeing a familiar name after so long managed to trigger my memories"

"How that worked is beyond me but it worked I guess, so this started your journey home then huh?"

"Yes it started my journey home"

"Though it still took him time, now then how long do we have before you absolutely have to return to the group?"

"Tomorrow, I have to be back by tomorrow since they are already aware of my arrest and the time I was arrested as well"

"Very well, then for tonight at least we shall truly remember your brother since we lost him and allow you to say goodbye and know you're saying goodbye to your brother"

"Thanks"

And so Donavan is taken to Bradstreet's grave and allowed to truly begin the mourning process for his secret twin brother. The next day Donavan goes back under with Sherlock acting as the go between for Switzerland and England and also getting permission to stay by Donavan's side as much as possible in both countries.

"I'm still going to have to be careful but it looks like I'm good to go on being by your side discreetly while Scotland Yard looks into what happened to you"

"Let's just hope this case doesn't last too much longer because I want to be part of that investigation"

"Don't worry we'll make sure that you are indeed part of the investigation"

"Thanks, Sherlock we're going to have to hide your identity if you decide that the best way to help me is by going undercover with me though"

"Don't worry I'm not going to do that, however I will be the main contact point and the scout on any meetings that I know about while you gather the evidence you need"

"Okay and like I said before, I am trying to gather the top leaders it's just...very, very slow going"

"Understood"

Watson then spoke up

"Sherlock don't forget that the King will want regular updates himself from you all things considered"

"I know Watson and I'm already planning on writing reports that the King will get when it is safe for me to send them which means that there might be a bit of a delay between the reports and him actually reading them"

"I think he'll understand that, I also want regular updates so that I don't think you're dead...again I might add"

"Now that one wasn't my fault and you know it Watson"

"True, it's just...we only got you back and the Yard..."

"I understand"

The two hug and then separate and once Sherlock and Donavan were gone Lestrade speaks up

"Right then, we start with Donavan's parents and go from there to hopefully have a few answers before he returns to England for good in regards to what happened to separate him from his family"

"You sure Bradstreet's family will want to talk about that period? I mean, they thought Donavan dead for basically his entire life and then there's the fact that while we had a funeral for Bradstreet there's no body and we haven't exactly been searching very hard in their minds"

"I know, but not only are there no clues to his whereabouts..."

"Yeah, it's too painful emotionally still"

"But unfortunately we're going to have to deal with it, but I also hope Donavan finishes his case soon because as a police officer I'm sure he's had to investigate things regarding fellow officers who have died and it's been painful for him to do so"

"With Sherlock's help he should be able to succeed very, very soon"

"Let's hope so because he's been on this case for a long time now which means any false move and it could be blown. I've been reading on what he's working on and he has to be as slow as he's going because of how dangerous these people are"

"Basically you're saying that this could still take some time then"

"Essentially yes I am saying that because I don't want to lose Donavan now that we've found him"

"Hopefully we won't, but it's going to be hard to have any answers for him before he gets done with us case you know that right?"

"True, but maybe we'll at least have some answers for him"

"Then let's do it"

"I just hope that he won't be mad if there aren't any answers"

"I'm sure he'll understand"

"You know maybe we should have thought of a secure method for Sherlock to get in contact with us so that we know that he's okay"

"Maybe, but I'm sure he'll figure something out, after all it's Holmes we're talking about"

"True"

"And in any case we can keep an eye out for him via his consultant work in Switzerland because I'm sure that Donavan will use local officers as well and Holmes will have to be introduced to them and any disguises he uses will have to be explained to them as well"

"Good point and I'm sure the King already has an agreement with Switzerland regarding keeping us updated on Sherlock's condition"

"Probably, especially because I don't think something like this has ever been done before"

"Probably not, let's just hope that something is being planned because silence from Sherlock won't go down well for any of us to say nothing of Mycroft"

"Oh yes, Mycroft definitely won't take Sherlock disappearing so soon after his return lightly"

Ultimately Donavan's case would last three more months because the work he had already done, combined with a few minor things Sherlock managed to do meant that a meeting was called with all the top leaders and they would be arrested. When Scotland Yard heard the news they were elated to hear that Donavan would return home soon as would Sherlock since they had been kept appraised of Sherlock's condition the entire time through Watson.

"It's good to hear that they'll be home soon"

"Yes, but how will Donavan take the news that his family isn't talking to us still so we still have no answers as to what happened to separate him as a baby even after three months?"

"Not sure, but we'll think of something I promise"

"So, are we meeting them at the airport or at the Yard?"

"Airport"

"Makes sense in a way I guess, after all it means that reunions are done all the sooner, plus I do believe that while the press are allowed onto airport property guards keep them in certain areas depending on the situation"

"Mycroft will keep them away with his power all by himself you know that Lestrade"

"Normally yes, but we should still alert security about the press trying to come and crowd people who haven't been home in months"

"Oh...right, I forgot about how the press will do that, especially considering that it's Sherlock that's one of the people coming home after several months. They're still adjusting to the fact that he's actually alive and working with us again"

"Precisely, as such let's do what we can to keep the press away from him"

"Okay then let's go"

"Not yet everyone, the plane won't arrive for another six hours minimum so let's get some things done first okay?"

Five and a half hours later hours later and while there were still cases being resolved and paperwork to be done the group had done enough to leave for the day if they so chose so that they had time to simply welcome Sherlock and Donavan home and take them out for dinner or something similar. As it would turn out the plane carrying Sherlock and Donavan would be late by two hours but the group didn't mind the wait.

"Lestrade do you know the reason for the delay?"

"Weather in Switzerland caused the delay, you know the rules Watson considering that case you helped with during...during Sherlock's absence"

"True, since it's something that simple then we don't have to be worried about the delay, though I know that there are people who are annoyed at the delay in reuniting with their friends and then there are those who are going to miss their connections because of the delay who won't be happy either"

"You can't make everyone happy unfortunately, for now though what are we going to do to kill the extra time we suddenly have?"

Ultimately the group would use that time to help do a security test with permission from the airport personnel, one that wouldn't delay any planes from arriving of course but still something that needed to be done regularly to make sure that everyone was on top of their game at all times. Once the test was done they heard the flight number that Sherlock and Donavan were on being announced in regards to it landing soon and thus went to the gate to wait for them.

"Welcome back you two"

"It's good to be back, what news from my family Inspector Lestrade?"

"They aren't talking to us since they blame us regarding what happened with Bradstreet, even knowing that being an officer carries that risk"

"I see, and I doubt they'll react better to me all things considered"

"True enough"

"So what's the plan with that being the case?"

"We do our own investigation and maybe...maybe we'll finally have answers regarding what happened to my twin brother who I didn't even know I had and finally be able to give him a proper burial"

"That might be for the best actually since I know for a fact that even if we weren't having the communication issues with your found family, the fact that your abduction happened so long ago means that your family probably doesn't really know much in any case"

"Good point, I guess we do private investigations and then if we have answers we give them to the family I never knew"

"That might be for the best, but Donavan, this doesn't necessarily mean we'll actually get the answers you're looking for or find Bradstreet's remains, especially considering how long it's been since he died"

"I know that Lestrade, I've come to terms with that very issue during this assignment but still...I have to try for my own sake"

"Very well then Donavan we'll try it the only issue I see with the search is that your abduction case is so cold we might not actually be able to generate any actual leads. Add in that your case was never actually reported and we have a lot of work to do if we're going to have a hope of finding any answers"

"I understand, and actually while I was working on my other case I asked my...my adoptive parents if they could send everything regarding my adoption and what they knew regarding my birth certificate to Scotland Yard. I told them that I was thinking about transferring there, which I am by the way, and that as a test of my skills they want me to find if there was anything strange about the adoption procedure"

"That works I guess, and who knows maybe we might actually find something, something your parents never questioned or if they did question it they either got a bogus answer or no answer and after a while simply decided that there were none"

"Yeah, at least that was my hope when I decided to ask for those records"

"Once you two are settled back into routine we'll start looking at those files, you Donavan need to be debriefed and a bit of downtime after such a long undercover mission, as for you Sherlock..."

"I know Lestrade, I know"

"Even if I don't join Scotland Yard, I'm going to ask my bosses for a temporary transfer to you guys and say that you're helping me with something personal and need me close by in order to better coordinate things"

"That's actually not a bad idea Donavan, and not entirely a lie either now that I think about it"

"Only one problem though, I think my superior's are going to put me on a mandatory month long leave, at least that was what I was understanding when I was assigned the undercover mission initially"

"Oh and you can't do any sort of work that's even remotely police related while you're on that leave due to that policy that was developed after...incidents in the past"

"Precisely, we'll find out once I'm debriefed, speaking of which when's my flight or train back home?"

"Tomorrow, today you two get checked out by a doctor here in London and start the decompression from a long undercover mission"

"Good idea, because Donavan here might have been injured during the final raid but didn't say anything or get checked out before we left Switzerland"

"I'm fine Sherlock"

"I could have sworn I saw you get hit with a few bullets"

"You're wrong"

"Amuse me by getting checked out please"

"Very well"

As it turned out Donavan had actually been injured and not known it and thus was forced to stay in the hospital for three days due to actually needing surgery to remove the bullets and then recover from said surgery. Once he was released Donavan went back to his station to debrief them and then went on the mandatory month long break
