Chapter 2: Taken by Butterflies

The Cup Bros ride their conjoin bike with Sugarcube and Creamer on their backs. The brothers have red and blue Polaroid cameras around their necks.

"What butterflies would be good for the contest?" Cuphead said.

"Something unusual or rare. Perhaps a butterfly we would never expect to see on the Inkwell Isle," Mugman answered.

They stop their bicycle when they see Bowlboy taking a picture of a Miami Blue Butterfly.

"What incredible luck. A Cyclargus Thomasi Bethunbakeri. That 1st prize will be mine," said Bowlboy.

Mugman said, "Bowlboy competes too?! Cuphead, we're going to follow Elder Kettle's advice. To the clearing! Yah!"

Mugman makes their bike go at top speed, causing Cuphead to scream and Sugarcube and Creamer to claw on their masters' backs so as not to fall off.

"Mugsy! What about Chalice?!" Cuphead screamed.

Chalice and Acinus are seen before the Cup Bros and their Guardian Pets while pulling a cart of cargo. When they spot each other, Mugman stops, but it makes Cuphead fall off his seat and land on Chalice. She blushed that he was on top of her.

But he smiled and said while Sugarcube showed herself to Chalice, "Ey, Chalice. We were talking about you."

Acinus uses his front paws to slap Cuphead on the side constantly.

"Don't worry, Acinus. I'm fine," Chalice said.

But Acinus pulls Cuphead's sleeve, causing him to get off and say, "Okay, okay, little bunny. I'm getting off."

"What's with the cargo, Chalice?" Mugman asks.

She answered, "I'm making a delivery for Chef Saltbaker. Maple Cream Puffs, Soft Maple Brown Sugar Cookies, Maple Cream Pies, Maple Sugar Muffins, and Maple Syrup Pudding Cakes. A whole year's worth. I've covered for him for the bakery while he was making them through a week."

"Would you like some help?" Cuphead asks.

"Cuphead, what about the competition?" Mugman stepped in.

"Really, Mugman? Prizes over a friend's need?"

"I really want those motorcycles."

"Mugman!"

"Fine."

"Hop on your cart, Chalice. We'll use our bike to pull it for you."

Chalice blushed, saying, "You're such a gentleman, Cuphead."

"Dad always says be there for anyone in need."

Meanwhile, in Inkwell Hell, the Devil looks so bored that he's just lying on his bed with his face on his pillow. Henchman and King Dice peeked inside to check on him.

"I didn't believe it. He's not ranting about that Cup and trying to leave to go get his Soul again," said King Dice.

"Duh, yeah. Want to get some coffee?" Henchman said.

"And talk about Stickler and his flaws?"

"You know, Mr. King Dice Sir. By the way, have you heard what's going on at Monarch Kingdom?"

As they both walk together, King Dice answers, "Yes. To think they're going through so much trouble to survive. What could've caused them to gather all their people in one place?"

Back with the Cup Trio, the Brothers ride their bike with Chalice's cart attached. She sits in her cart with the Guardian Pet Trio.

"I appreciate your help, boys. Are you trying to win the Butterfly Photography Contest?" Chalice asks.

"That's the problem. The three top prizes are so great to me that I don't know which prize I want," Cuphead continued. "But Mugman wants to go for the first prize."

"Here's an idea. Why don't the three of us enter the completion individually? That way, we three can get those prizes together?"

"That's a great idea. What do you think, Mugsy?"

"Let's do it," Mugman agreed.

"My smart brother is in with the plan."

"Stop right here," Chalice said.

When the Brothers parked their bikes, they were surprised to see a familiar clearing close to a woodland and a lake.

"You were told to deliver here, Chalice?" Mugman asks.

"Yes, and Chef Saltbaker wanted me to leave the cargo there, too," Chalice answered.

"Wait. Mugman, remember what Elder Kettle said?" Cuphead said.

Then Mugman said, "Oh, yeah. The rumored butterfly kingdom."

"Butterfly kingdom?" Chalice questioned.

When the Cup Trio and the Guardian Pet Trio got off, a great flock of Bhutan Glory butterflies arrived and picked up the cargo.

"The Butterflies ordered from SaltDad?" Chalice confused.

Then Butterflies fly above the Cup Trio before picking them up and carrying them away along with the cargo.

"What's going on?" Cuphead shouted.

"Sugarcube! Creamer! Acinus! Help us," Mugman screamed.

Seeing their masters in danger, the Guardian Pet Trio gave chase. They barked, meowed, and chattered as they tried to keep up. The chase continued once it entered the woodland. The Cup Trio noticed a lot of butterflies in the trees.

"Now that I think about it. I haven't seen any other butterfly on the Isle today besides the one Bowlboy took a picture of. Could all of the butterflies be gathered here for some reason?" Cuphead said.

The chase soon arrives at a sunny spot filled with butterfly houses and farms with a palace made of hilltops.

"This must be the Butterfly Kingdom," the Cup Trio commented.
