The guidance counselor tells my parents that I will be making up Social Studies, Algebra and Spanish in summer school. I am surprised that I only have to make up three of my classes and not all of them. I don't mind going to summer school though.

Me: I don't care. I plan on working hard and making up for the lost year.

Mom: That's the Mellie I know.

Dad: My poor little Mellie, I wish we had realized.

Me: It's okay, I wish I could have told you guys the truth but I just couldn't

We pull in for a family hug.

About a week later, summer school has begun. On my way to the school I see Rachel, Greta-Ingrid and the other resident aliens in front of the building boarding a school bus. They must be going to France. They are all carrying suitcases.

As fate would have it, my teachers are the same as the ones from the regular school year. My first class is Social studies with Mr. Neck.

Mr. Neck: Alright everyone, listen up, this is summer school alright, you are here because of your laziness during the school year or because of certain unfortunate circumstances.

He says the unfortunate circumstances part while looking at me. He's heard about me and Andy.

I go through the rest of the day.

The thing about summer school is that I can leave after my last class is finished which is around 12:30.

Afterschool, I head for a session with Dr. Likhtbaum. In the late afternoon, I talk to Dr. Suarez with my parents.

I find out Mom has cut back on her hours at the store. She tells me she told her boss that she has a family crisis.

I spend the evening doing all my homework for summer school.
