I make it through two weeks of summer school. I'm still working hard. On friday, I go to the courthouse with my parents and sit in a room with Dr Suarez and the DA Dr Castro. They both have disappointed looks on their faces.

Dr Castro: Listen Melinda I was reviewing your case file and I decided not to charge Evans for the rape that occured last August.

I feel like my heart dropped to my feet.

Mom: WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'RE NOT GOING TO CHARGE THAT PIECE OF SHIT FOR WHAT HE DID TO MY LITTLE GIRL LAST AUGUST!

Dad: he ruined our little girls freshman year of high school and he won't be charged?

Dr Castro: Look, I am the ADA, I believe your daughters allegations of rape against Mr Evans, i would absolutely love to charge him for his crime. Unfortunately, we don't have any strong evidence. Ten months have passed, Dna evidence is long gone, Evans did not lure Melinda into the woods, as stated by Melinda herself. Additionally most of the partygoers were drunk and I LITERALLY HAVE the arrest reports from that night. They are not going to remeber every small detail that happened from that night and they will remember less months after it happened. We can and will charge him for the attack in the closet and the witnesses are willing to help. The trial will start in two weeks.
