Me: Wow what a story.

Rachel: I know

Me: you had your moment of glory by ditching him at the prom and standing up for yourself like that. A freshman stood off against a senior! That's a story for the ages!

We both laugh.

Rachel: yeah I did and I was proud of myself for doing so but I ditched him because he was pig. Gorgeous, but a pig.

Me: well, a pig with lipstick is still a pig. Actually no, we shouldn't be saying this, pigs are a lot safer to be around then Andy Evans.

We both laugh

Rachel: The Monday after the prom, I saw that graffiti you wrote about him in the bathroom stall. I obviously knew what he was by that point but was still shocked by how many girls he hurt. A lot of girls who wrote on the wall and who didn't admitted publicly later they had been either raped by him or that he touched them.

Me: You had a lucky escape Rach.

Rachel: only because you warned me. You fought him off when he tried to hurt you again, you wrote the writing on the wall that caused many other girls to come forward. You are my hero.

Me: That's not true.

Rachel: It is and not just to me but to all his other victims, I would have been next. All those other girls, some of whom know Jimmy, think you're the Wonder Woman of Merryweather high.

My face feels red as a tomato.

Me: Well, yeah you know, If I hadn't told me story, you probably would have been raped and who knows what he would done once he went to college.

Rachel: Tell me about it.

She hugs me.

Rachel: I'm so happy your my friend again. So happy.

I hug her back.

Me: Me too Rachel.
