Hello there! Welcome my friends to the next chapter of Light Bringer Stories: The Witcher.

As I said, this one concludes the Hearts of Stone arc. Hope your going to enjoy it and now reviews time.

RedHood001: Thank you, happy you think so.

Ltbutterfly287: Understandable. When I started writing this story, I already thought she could end up a divisive character so I tried to use her sparingly. I just thought it would make sense for someone like Lucifer to have an assistant or side-kick for task he couldn't bother to do himself.

And now time for the story.

In the gardens of the Von Everec Estate, where the strange fog had lifted. Lucifer and Geralt stood at a freshly dug grave, a headstone made of a particular large rock at it's head.

The tombstone read: 'Here lies Iris von Everec, beloved wife and a talented painter'

Lucifer hung his head low, as he listened to the rustling of leaves in the wind.

"I know punishment, and you did not deserve any of this. I hope you found paradise, Iris von Everec." Lucifer muttered, "I always had my suspicions, but now I'm sure. I know where O'Dimm comes from."

"You do?" Geralt said, "What is he?"

"Do you really wish to know?" Lucifer said with a side glance.

"Yes." Geralt said.

"No, Geralt, you don't." Lucifer said at once, "All who have learned his true name are now either dead, gone insane, both or even worse."

"Right." Geralt said, "Thanks for being helpful in a cryptic and really unhelpful way."

"I'm nothing like my dad!" Lucifer protested as they turned around, "Listen, Geralt. I have a few things to take care of before we finish this whole O'Dimm business."

"Finished fulfilling his three wishes." Geralt said, "Contract should be fulfilled."

"Geralt, do you honestly believe it will be that simple? There is always a catch or two when it comes to dealing with his sort." Lucifer said, "I theorize that O'Dimm will be waiting for you. Might be best he doesn't see me, because only my dad knows what he will do. You go do that while I attend to a few preparations, I'll meet you outside of the Alchemy in a couple of hours."

With the beat of white wings on the air, Lucifer had dropped off Geralt in the same alleyway they had gone to a couple of hours ago. While the witcher went inside, Lucifer landed in the in the streets of Oxenfurt, just outside Shani's clinic.

Going inside and walking up the wooden stairs, Lucifer called out to announce he was there. And inside the living room where he saw the one he was looking for.

"Lucifer." Raphael said, "Shani is out for the moment, is there something you need?"

"Actually I'm here for you Raph." Lucifer said going straight to the point, "I need a favor."

"Hold on, let's me say it back to you so I know I heard it right." Raphael said surprised, "You, Lucifer Lux, need a favor of me?

"Yes." Lucifer said, "That alone should make you realize how serious the situation is."

"No, that would be if you called Mickey for a favor." Raphael said dryly, "So what's the problem?"

"It's mum." Lucifer said, "When I was helping Geralt, I found out she has an agent working for her. One who was successful enough that she could manifest herself inside the Network, albeit without her powers."

"But she does that often." Raphael said, "She always works through The Morgenstern."

"Yes, except that The Morgenstern as her avatar is always basically a mortal, an absurdly powerful one but still mortal." Lucifer said, "She managed to appear in a form without the need of a mortal avatar."

"...That's bad." Raphael said, which was the understatement of the millennium.

"Indeed." Lucifer said dryly, "Fortunately, I took care of the leak."

"But if you already took care of it, then why are informing me of it?" Raphael said.

"There might be a possibility that mum will break free in a relative short time. I thought it prudent to inform the other Archangels of it." Lucifer said, "If you could pass this information along to anyone who can help, even if it's Mickey. Just don't tell them you got it from me."

"Must be serious if you want Mickey to help..." Raphael said, with a hopeful smile, "Are you willing to help against mother and rejoin the armies of Heaven."

"Me? Rejoining?" Lucifer said with a laugh, "No, hell no! I'm warning you because there is only one being in the Omniverse that is allowed to defeat Michael and kick dad off his White Throne. It's not mum and it's definitely not Gaunter O'Dimm. The only one fit for that role is me!"

"Your still willing to overthrow father?" Raphael said a bit disappointed, "I thought you had changed."

"What ever gave you that idea?" Lucifer said with a smirk.

"Well... your going out of your way to help a mortal, and you don't have a deal with him." Raphael pointed out, "That is something you hadn't done before Emily Kaldwin..."

"I'm helping him because he's the father of Cirilla." Lucifer said, "See? I'm still the same old selfish Devil you know."

"...Who?"

"Right, forgot to mention her to you." Lucifer said, "Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon is the woman I fell in love with. It's because of her that I actually care to help him... If it wasn't for her, I couldn't have cared to help the witcher."

"Okay, I'm still on the fact you actually believe you fell in love." Raphael said amazed, "Falling in love... It's not something we do, Lucifer."

"I don't believe that is actually true." Lucifer said shaking his head, "I mean, look at me. I fell in love three times already. And I know you have fallen in love as well."

"W-What?" Raphael said as his cheeks became red from embarrassment.

"Yes, Uri and I talk, Raph." Lucifer said with a smile, "Just be good to Shani, little brother. She's a keeper."

"M-maybe... But if we can fall in love." Raphael said, "Maybe it's possible that you do have changed."

"...Yeah, maybe." the blonde Devil said before taking his leave.

Lucifer appeared in the street of Oxenfurt just outside the Alchemy inn. It seemed he caught the attention of some of the peasants going about their day.

"Where did you come from?" a man who had passed by said.

"Well, I was born in the Silver City, if I had to put it to something your small mind could comprehend." Lucifer said as he just spotted Gerald coming out of the Alchemy, who seemed rather disturbed for some reason.

"What's up your bum?" Lucifer said.

"It was as you said, Gaunter O'Dimm was waiting for me." Geralt said, "Did you know he can freeze time?"

"Of course. And why shouldn't he? Aside from the allure, time manipulation is one of the most broken abilities to have." Lucifer said rather casually, "Though mine is better than is."

"How is your better?" Geralt said, "Isn't it all the same?"

"No. There are different forms and levels of power. O'Dimm for one cannot travel through time, while I can. Just as he can't freeze me or the other Archangels in place. While I can do that to him." Lucifer explained, "So, now that is cleared up, where are we going?"

Some time later, Lucifer was waiting in silence with Geralt at the Temple of Lilvani. It was once a great sanctuary to the now forgotten Northern deity of the moon. The temple lies in ruins, its history lost to time. It is located in a cave system east of Toderas in Velen.

The full moon had come out, shining its pale light down on them.

"Strange choice of locale."

Up on the stairs was Olgierd, looking at the witcher and the Devil, "Guessing there's a reason for it?"

"Wasn't me who chose it." Geralt said as he stood up.

"I assumed so." Olgierd said as he came down the stairs, giving a nod to Lucifer, "Geralt's lawyer. Now that we're here, I believe you have something for me."

From inside his pouch, Geralt produced the violet rose and showed it to Olgierd.

"How do I know this to be the rose?" Olgierd said as took the flower from Geralt and looked upon it, "Very well might've picked this up at the Oxenfurt market an hour ago."

"Not possible." Lucifer said as he studied his nails, "Violet roses don't bloom this time of year."

"Your also a florist now?" Olgierd said sparing Lucifer a side glance before turning to Geralt.

"Got it from Iris. It was the last thing that bound her to this world." Geralt told him, "Iris was tired of living half-alive, half-dead. Think she just wanted it to end."

Olgierd looked at the flower, the same one he had once given to his beloved wife, "Can't blame her, I condemned her to terrible suffering." he said before turning his gaze away, "Iris... what a mess we made of it all... If I'd only known then how it would end..."

At the same moment as a cold wind swept over the ruined temple, Olgierd reached for his head as an intense pain reached out of the spot where his heart would be located.

"Wha... What's happening?" Olgierd said, "I feel as thought... as though... a hot iron's pierced my chest."

"Sorry to have kept you waiting."

Lucifer and Geralt turned to look up at the sky, the same place the voice had come from.

From far above, descending down from the sky as if walking on a grand staircase, even though there was no staircase at all, only air, was Gaunter O'Dimm with his arms stretched wide.

"So glad everyone's made it, but it seems we have an extra. A very special guest indeed!" Gaunter said, indicating Lucifer before giving a bow, "How do you do, Mr. Lux?"

"...Do I know you?" Lucifer said annoyed.

"Yes, you do." Gaunter said before turning to the hunched over man, "More importantly, how do you feel, von Everec? A little... less troubled, lighter on the heart?"

"O'Dimm." Olgierd growled in pain, "What do you want?"

"What do you mean, what?" Gaunter said smugly, "Your soul."

"I'm still a bit confused on that part. How can you demand his soul?" Lucifer said sounding as if he was genuinely confused, "It's a well known fact gingers have no soul."

"Go screw yourself, Lux." Olgierd growled turning from one deal maker to the other, "And besides, the pact states you can take it only once you've fulfilled three wishes and..."

"And we stand together on the Moon." Gaunter said smugly, looking down to the ground, "Well, what do you know?"

Gaunter lowered his hand as a great wind swept through the temple, blowing away the sand covering the stone floor, to reveal they where standing on a depiction of the moon.

"What? No. We... we had a pact." Olgierd said as the fear started to set in as he looked frantically around before pointing to the sky, "The moon is there. THERE! Not..."

"I gave you what you wished for." Gaunter said, holding up a scroll of parchment with the deal before it started to burn, "Here, on the moon, our contract you fulfill."

"You whoreson." Olgierd muttered, "You cheated!"

"I never cheat." Gaunter said pleasantly as he approached, "The devil is in the details, as the saying goes."

Olgierd backed away, but he stumbled and fell to the ground as Gaunter O'Dimm got ever closer. But instead of handing over Olgierd's soul like some kind of two-dollar pussy carjacking victim, Lucifer confidently walked between Olgierd as he took one look at that thing.

"Gaunter O'Dimm." Lucifer spoke with the authority befitting the ruler of Hell, "I challenge you."

"You challenge me? Sounds hardly fair." Gaunter said amused, "What hope do I have in a one-on-one fight against the most powerful being in the Omniverse save for the creator!"

"That's why I challenge you to a simple game." Lucifer said, "I'm sure you can handle that."

"A game?" Gaunter said with a smirk, "What do you propose we play? Gwent?"

"You said it, not me." Lucifer said, "I challenge you to the Game of Ancients. If I win, Olgierd and Geralt go free and you will be unable to intervene with their lives."

"A reasonable demand if unusual for someone like you... But if I win, not only will I take Olgierd's soul, but Geralt's as well." Gaunter said putting his finger tips together, "Along with ownership of Paradise Lost."

"Your conditions are..." Lucifer said, having counted on this demanded, but the stakes had increased astronomical from this simple demand, "Acceptable."

"Gaunter O'Dimm, Master Mirror, the Man of Glass, Evil Incarnate. Versus Lucifer Lux, The Fallen Archangel, The Shining One, the King of Hell." Gaunter O'Dimm said arms wide as his tone of voice betrayed his excitement, "A legendary battle."

Reality began to distort around them, surprising the two humans as the two supernatural beings stared each other down.

"A legendary battle for you, maybe." Lucifer said, "As easy for me as swatting a fly."

The world erupted around them, clashing and swirling with itself until nothing but the void was left, an completely empty area so black only the vague outlines of each other could be seen.

"Lucifer." Geralt said, having appeared behind him, "What is this game?"

An empty square field of eight rows and eight columns formed out of burning ashes.

"The Game of Ancients, it's the oldest game in existence, played by powerful beings known as the Primordials before time existed." Lucifer explained, "Each player can summon sixteen units, six pawns and six special units, each able to move in a specific fashion. You can call anything and anyone to your side, depending on the power of the real thing or how important it is to the player. The catch is that the more important the unit is to the player, the more damage the controller is going to receive once its destroyed, even though they aren't the real thing. Though being able to do damage to the other player depends on the power of the opponent."

"The objective is to catch the opposing player, who can only move one square at the time, or inflict enough damage by taking other units that your opponent is unable to make his move."

"Enough talk." Gaunter O'Dimm said appearing on the opposite side of the field, "You wished to play, so let us play."

"Your going down, O'Dimm." Geralt said.

"We shall see, my friend." Gaunter said turning his attention of Lucifer, "As rules dictate, the eldest being has the opening move."

Making the first move Lucifer called, "White Dwarf on E4." as it caused an explosion which turned into a burning sun.

"Black Hole to E5." Gaunter commanded, casting a consuming void to appear on his field.

"White Dwarf to F4." Lucifer commanded creating a burning sun right next to his first.

"Really, Light Bringer? I thought you would be more creative." Gaunter said with a smirk, "Black Hole, devour."

The black void absorbed the White Dwarf, draining the white flames into itself before sending the white solar flames all across the battlefield. Lucifer stood stoically but he had a frown on his face for a brief moment as his coat billowed from the released energy. Which Geralt was impressive as Lucifer just had a sun blow up in his face.

"Potato to C4." Lucifer commanded creating a duplicate of his assistant in a swirl of blue.

"Already calling your faithful sidekick?" Gaunter said, "But you must have realized by now, Lucifer. When I took your White Dwarf, you felt it right? And now you must be wondering, how a lesser creature like me could hurt the almighty Light Bringer? As your lesser, I am allowed a , am I not?"

"You talk too much." Lucifer said annoyed.

Gaunter got a smirk on his face, "The Morgenstern to H4." he said as a tall man wearing a black cloak appeared, a hood covering his face but two distinct burning blue light came from where his eyes should be. With a frown, Lucifer disappeared from his place and reappeared out of the reach of The Morgenstern.

"You've gone quiet now. Has it finally settled in? Your afraid, aren't you Lucifer?" Gaunter said casting his next piece, "Black Hole to B5."

Lucifer ignored him before ordering Potato to take the recently summoned Black Hole.

"Darkness to F6." Gaunter said, casting down a source of power blacker than any black.

"Very well." Lucifer said, "Olgierd to F3."

A confused and bewildered looking Olgierd appeared in blue smoke.

"Your putting a lot on the line there, Lucifer..." Gaunter said, stroking his chin, "Morgenstern, come back to H6."

"You should know by now, I love a good gamble." Lucifer said, "White Dwarf to E3."

"Darkness to H5." Gaunter said, "Take your time, think about your life's choices. How you could have conquered the Silver City by now."

"Olgierd to H4." Lucifer commanded and the red head appeared right in front of the consuming darkness.

"Morgenstern to G5. Quite the difficult choice I have forced you into." Gaunter said, placing his fingertips against each other, "Are you going to give up your assistant at B5 or dear old von Everec at H4?"

"Neither." Lucifer said firmly, "Olgierd to F5."

"Black Hole to E6, you left your sidekick out." Gaunter said, as he pondered his next move.

"You left out your Darkness." Lucifer said, "Calling White Dwarf to G4."

"Darkness to F6."

This move gave Lucifer pause, pondering what the best situation would be, "Morning Star to G1." calling a building representing his nightclub.

Gaunter chuckled as he moved his Black Hole to take the Potato Replica.

This did had a profound effect on him as Lucifer as the shockwave of the replica disappearing made him feel an intense discomfort concentrated on his side. Reach for that spot on his body, his hand disappeared under his coat.

And when he moved his hand back, his fingers where stained with a bright golden fluid. It was blood, his blood.

"Oh my." Gaunter said amused, "I guess Devil's can bleed."

"White Dwarf to H4." Lucifer said through gritted teeth.

"Morgenstern to G6." Gaunter said.

"White Dwarf to H5." Lucifer said as his waistcoat started to show a dark patch.

While it was a concern why it wasn't healing in an instant or that he got hurt at all, Lucifer found it more concerning that she was lending her power to O'Dimm at all, especially when he was his opponent.

"Morgenstern to G5." Gaunter said.

"Cirilla to F3." Lucifer called, creating a replica of Ciri in the exact same rank as Gaunter's Morgenstern.

"Devilishly clever, Lord Lucifer." Gaunter said with a laugh, "Almost trapped The Morgenstern. Darkness to G8."

"Lucifer takes your Black Hole." Lucifer said, creating a replica of himself to destroy the Black Hole, "With that I'm threatening your Morgenstern."

"Morgenstern to F6." Gaunter said.

"Geralt to C3." Lucifer said, summoning Geralt to his aid, "Predictable O'Dimm. Putting all your faith in Morgenstern."

"And you spread your power to thin." Gaunter said, "Gaunter O'Dimm: Darkness to C5." creating a monstrous shadowy version of himself.

"Geralt to D5." Lucifer commanded.

"Morgenstern takes White Dwarf at B2." Gaunter said, as another wave of fire was send to Lucifer, this time managing to knock him to his knees.

"Lucifer to D6." Lucifer said, sending his replica forward.

"Morgenstern takes Morning Star, check." Gaunter said, very pleased with himself.

"What are you doing, my little Light Bringer?" a voice echoed over the universe where the battle was taking place.

To Olgierd it was an unknown, to Geralt it was the strange cat from the Painted World but Lucifer ignored the voice of his mother as he transported himself to E2.

"Alright, Gaunter O'Dimm: Darkness takes your other Morning Star." Gaunter said as the bleeding Lucifer was knocked off his feet and landed on his back.

"Potato to E5." Lucifer groaned as he stood up with shaky legs as he cast a replica of his assistant from wisps of blue fire.

"...Really?" Yahweh shouted as she appeared next to her son, "You got Gaunter O'Dimm's entire army staring you down and you move a lesser being."

"Hello mum." Lucifer said, sounding as if he was tired, "How unpleasant it is to see you again."

"She's your mother?" Geralt said with a frown, "She is God?"

Not even granting Geralt a second of her attention, she spoke to her eldest child, "Remember, you brought this on yourself." before turning to Gaunter, "Finish him Gaunter O'Dimm. Then when I have reduced the Silver City to dust, the mortal realms will be yours."

"As you wish, mistress." Gaunter said with a bow, "Darkness to A6."

Yahweh disappeared from her son, only to reappear on a throne which seemed to be made out of the cosmos, ready to see how this game would end.

"Olgierd takes Black Hole at G7... check." Lucifer said through tired breath.

Gaunter growled as he moved himself to the spot on D8.

"Cirilla to F6." Lucifer huffed, "Check."

"How adorable." Gaunter said with a cocky grin, "But now my Darkness takes your Ciri."

The replica gave Lucifer a sorrowful look before the darkness took her. Yahweh's eyes caught Lucifer's before he was inflicted so much damage, so much pain that it left him on the ground almost immobile.

"Still with us, Lucifer?" Gaunter said with almost sadistic glee.

"Come on, Lucifer." Geralt said turning to him, "Get up."

"Save your breath, witcher." Gaunter sneered, "There isn't anything left for him to do. The loss of his beloved is too much for him."

"You don't know him. This is the man who has the balls to challenge God himself." Geralt said, "He might be a smug bastard that gets on my nerves, but he's the one who makes Ciri happy. He always has a plan. So get to your feet Lucifer, your not the kind of Devil willing to fucking lose."

Lucifer got a small smile on his face, which evolved into a smug smile as he got back to his feet. In a display of power, a blinding light erupted from Lucifer as his bright white wings sprout out from his back.

"But how..." Yahweh said surprised.

"You think that scares me?" Gaunter said smugly, "Your best units are gone, your pretty little wings won't change that."

"I'm smiling... That alone should scare you." Lucifer said as he shone a brilliant light through the darkness, "Let me remind you who you're dealing with, Gaunter O'Dimm. I am Lucifer Lux. The Fallen Archangel, Shining One, Star of Morning, Light Bringer, Prince of Darkness, King of Hell, Cirilla's boyfriend and without doubt Best Fuck in the Omniverse."

Looking around, Gaunter's eyes widening as he realized he had made a technical blunder, now knowing exactly what his plan was.

"And everything you did, Gaunter O'Dimm. I'm the one who invented it." Lucifer said before invoking his power to swap ranks with his Replica so he appeared right next to Gaunter O'Dimm himself, "Lucifer to E7. It's over."

Gaunter looked shocked, it still hadn't completely sunken in that he had completely fallen for it.

The universe exploded as it gave away to a black frozen over lake. The area consisted entirely of dark stone, covered in black ice. High above them, the sky was covered in complete darkness giving it the feeling of eternal night as a massive blizzard rage around. Among the black stone and ice, stood a throne made of entirely other wordily black stone where Lucifer sat down on the Black Throne, his mere presence shook the realm.

Yahweh's expression was unreadable, but Geralt could have sworn that for the briefest moment, she had looked as if she was relieved how the game had turned out. Turning away and as sudden as she had appeared, the Goddess disappeared leaving an infuriated Gaunter O'Dimm on his knees before the Black Throne.

"Ouw se on coq e coq la se rwa an le pil fimie ay." Gaunter O'Dimm growled in deeply demonic tones, "Shengonia momige. Ara. Sdebi. Man amaranai. Asauznan falafashtamash dahsnan."

"Yes, yes." Lucifer said almost bored, "You are banished. Begone!" snapping his finger as Gaunter O'Dimm disappeared in an eruption of white, which soon consumed the entire area.

Some time later, Lucifer was back with Geralt and Olgierd at the Temple of Lilvani. The moon had disappeared behind the horizon as the sun now rose steadily, and the temple was blazed with life and light.

"What the blazes jus happened?" Olgierd said as he noticed Geralt's face, "Your brand's gone... guessing that's a good sign?"

"We won, that's all that matter." Lucifer said having completely healed from the game, "You're a free man now, Olgierd von Everec."

"I thank you... Though I've no notion what to do with this freedom, now." Olgierd said as he stood up, "He took everything. Everything I loved, all I held dear... "

"Not true." Geralt said as he stood up, "Got your heart back."

"A bitter victory. Now at last I sense how much I've lost." Olgierd said, "I've a heart again, yet all it feels is grief, sadness and defeat. My life is a ruin."

"You've handled tougher situations." Geralt told him, "You'll figure this one out. Got a company of faithful comrades waiting. Got a home, your fortune..."

"No." Olgierd said, as he shook his head, "I cannot live as I did before."

"What will you do then?" Lucifer said.

"I don't know. One thing's clear." Olgierd said as he turned to face them, "It's time I took fate into my own hands. Lived life anew... and truly this time. But I will never forget what you two did for me."

Taking his sword from his scabbard, he swung it around to offer it to Geralt.

"I can't accept this." Geralt said.

"You can and must. This saber's been in my family for generations. Even when I'd lost all else, it remained at my side. Means a great deal to me. Do me the honor. This'll mark the start of my new life and such a weapon could be right useful to you."

"I thank you again, Geralt. Lux." Olgierd said with a genuine smile, "And good luck on the path." before taking his leave.

Lucifer and Geralt stood there in silence as they looked over the rising sun, taking in the beauty that even this harsh world could offer.

"Thank you Lucifer." Geralt said, "I guess I owe you one now."

"Don't be silly, Geralt. This one is on the house." Lucifer said with a smile much to his surprise, "Well I'm a relationship with Cirilla, so in a way we are family. That's what family does right? They look out for each other. Well, not mine obviously, but you get the idea. I just hope when I need your help, you would be willing to return the favor."

"Not sure what the Devil would need help with, but sure." Geralt said, "You know Lucifer, your not so bad."

"Been hearing that a lot lately..." Lucifer said, "Now how about we head back to my place for a glass or more of whisky and a few games of gwent?"

"Had me at gwent." Geralt said.

And so the two retreated back to Lucifer's Penthouse. The sword named Iris was resting next to Paradise Lost against the sofa as Geralt had changed out of his armor and was wearing a casual white shirt.

Lucifer, having taken off his white blazer, was standing behind the bar as he was looking for a specific bottle.

"I'm very proud of that one." Lucifer said as he noticed that Geralt was looking at one of the bookcases lining the wall, the witcher was specifically looking at one of the trophies he had won, the one with 'Best at sex' on it.

"Might regret asking." Geralt said, "How do you win a trophy like that?"

"It's simple really... You know, sometimes I think I have too much whisky." Lucifer said, "Ah! There it is!", picking it up along with two glasses.

The two moved to the sitting area, taking seats across from each other as the gwent board was already in place.

Placing the glasses down, Lucifer opened the bottle.

"Belisario Viscount." he said taking a whiff of the drink, before pouring it into the two glasses, "I know your a vodka man. And this is one of, if not the finest, vodkas in the world. 1.3 million... never mind, just try it." before sliding one to Geralt.

Geralt took a drink from the glass, giving an approving nod before placing his glass down, "Not bad." he said, "If I'm drunk, you might actually stand a chance."

"Me getting you drunk. Geralt! You wound me! I would never cheat." Lucifer said, "But if you manage to win a round, I might use my real deck. I got cards you have never seen before."

"Bring it, Lucifer." Geralt said with a smile.

It was as the witcher once told Death herself. Father and son-in-law are stiff at first, but add drink and they bond or slap each other silly. And for the Devil and the witcher, it turned out to be the former.

And that was the chapter, hope you enjoyed.
