Chapter 19: Hold My Hand and We're Halfway There

(Tony POV)

Tony and Maria had to hurry to make it to the Bus Station since the only bus leaving for Virginia would be leaving in a half hour. They said their goodbyes to Valentina, with the promise to send her letters letting her know how they were doing. Before leaving Doc's for good, Tony ran back and hug her one last time; he wasn't ready to let go of another mother. Valentina kissed his head and told him how proud she was of him. With tears in his eyes, Tony grabbed Maria's hand and headed for the station.

Though they had no trouble getting their tickets, both of them couldn't help looking over their shoulders for fear they would be discovered. Neither him nor Maria could relax until they felt the motion of the bus making its departure south. Tony and Maria let the past stay behind in the city, along with the anger and fear. Their future would be bright and happy. They hung on to each other until sleep finally took over.

(Third Person POV)

The streets were fuming with Jets and Sharks. Word had gotten out about what happened at Doc's. Riff wasn't too happy to hear about the Sharks ganging up on Tony and leaving him lying on the roof. The Jets decided to retaliate for one of theirs by defacing some of the store fronts near the Sharks' end of the street. This led to the two gangs brawling on the basketball court.

It had been the worse fight anyone in the neighborhood had seen. Guys were thrown around like rag dolls into walls and to the ground. It reached its peak when boys started using weapons against each other. Two Jets started use a piece of a two by four to whack Sharks over the head. One Shark took an old chain and whipped it around, landing against Jets' heads.

When the cops arrive, five boys had to be sent to the hospital and three squad cars filled up with every juvenile present. They held everyone in jail overnight, but no one would talk. This unspoken code baffled the cops, considering how much they hated each other. The chief of police as astounded by the anger coming of all of them. He had no clue what led to this all-out war now, but he intended to keep these delinquents from killing each other and destroying his streets.

The En….

**YOU DIDN'T REALLY THINK THAT WAS THE ENDING, DID YOU?!

When I first started creating this story, I was actually imaging what their life would be like if they had gotten away and it just evolved from there. I'm now happy to say THERE WILL BE A SEQUEL TO THIS STORY! It will be a while before I upload anything, but I have started outlining the story and know how I want it to finish. Please leave me reviews of what you might like to see in the sequel; suggests are always appreciated.

In the meantime, I've started working on a Twilight fic if anyone is interested.

Thank you to everyone who has left a review! Every one of them has made my day bright and given to push to keep this story going. I can't believe I finished my first Story! Thank you guys so much!
