When Fire Touches Water Chapter 11: Darkness and the Star, a sonic the hedgehog fanfic

I watch the sides of the tree house fall apart and then I soon see Amelia in the middle of the air flying from it. Her arms wave around wildly as she seems cut off guard from the treehouse falling apart. Leaves and branches break off from the damage done to the treehouse as well hitting the ground, making a wet sound on the moist grass.

I move instinctively and I blast fire from my foot heading for Amy. I reach for her body and suddenly something grabs my ankle throwing me the opposite way from the treehouse.

"No!"

"AMY", I yell as I see the treehouse fall from afar. The treehouse hits the ground causing dust and debris to cover the area. I watch Amy disappear into the dust.

A dark flame ignites in my body.

Everything goes dark around me.

"I am so tired of people hurting the ones I care about"

My eye twitches as I get pulled back through the air with these mysterious vines. It almost as if I am moving in slow motion as I fly through the darkness.

"People continuously take the fire kingdom for granted- "

"Wait… what am I thinking"

Soon my ears start to vibrate as I feel my body grow hot in my chest. I clench my chest and I take a deep breath, but I suddenly exhale as I see the darkness enter my body. I close my mouth with my hands. I watch as the darkness moves around and goes into my ears. The darkness makes me feel cold inside but warm. I slowly let go of my mouth and I exhale in gently. The darkness then wildly flies in my mouth. I cover my mouth again and I notice its going into my nose. I cover that as well.

"What is happening… what is this?"

Lightheadedness takes over my body and I slowly release my hands. I could already feel the darkness flowing inside and trying to block it from coming in is pointless at this point. The darkness travels through my body and soon I feel calm.

It feels like I am floating, and I am free. I soon hear yelling in the dark abyss I am floating in. My eyes widen as I remember that Amelia is probably hurt. I try to move forward, but I am still being pulled away by a vine. I reach at it and I try to rip it off but it's too thick to be pulled off that easily. Anger flies through my body.

"WHOEVER IS DOING THIS IS GOING TO PAY DRASTICALLY", I think angrily.

My heart thumps hard and I feel darkness flow through my veins.

"I'm…. I'm… GOING TO KILL EVERYON- "

Everything goes back to normal as I hit the ground and I roll a little bit. My hearts stop thumping fast and I look around in confusion. My chest sends a sharp pain, but I ignore it as I hear a yell off in the distance again and I remember that Amelia is in trouble. I stand up quick and I blast back to the fallen treehouse and someone appears ahead of me.

"I don't have time for this!" I think and I blast past the person by heading up and over them. Once again, my feet are caught by vines. I am brought back down to the ground. I hit the ground and the person in front of me appears from the moonlight. A green Alligator looks at me, smirking as I fail to get away. He has on the same purple clothing as everyone else has had.

I look up at him and I jump about to punch him in the face. Another vine grabs my wrist, pulling me back down and the alligator punches me right in face hard, causing me to hit the ground.

"Not too fast fire boy", he says cockily. He bends down to me and gets in my face. His sharp form into a grin as he sees that I am pretty pissed.

"I know you want to save her so bad, but she is dealing with something else at the moment… so you have to deal with me- "

I spit blood in his face from my busted lip he created from punching me.

He slowly wipes my blood from his face and looks back at me angrily.

"Why so mad, I am dealing with you now aren't I" I said sarcastically

Before he has the chance to speak back, I shoot a big flame out of my mouth all around me. The alligator flips away from the blast just in time and I burn the vines on my wrists and feet. I roll up and I look at the alligator who dodged me by one second. He jumps into a fighting stance and I grin wildly.

"He might be a worthy opponent since he caught me off guard twice"

I wipe my lip and I was about to charge at him until I hear Amy scream. I stop and turn around to her voice and I can see her getting her hand stomped on hard. Fire rages through my body and I launch at her only to get dragged back again.

"Hey, I just said you have to deal with me" he yells at me while pulling me closer to him.

"You are pissing me off", I yell at the Alligator and throw myself at him. I catch him off guard as I throw a big punch at him and he dodges it by using his arms to block his face. He stumbles back and I take that by advantage, and I whip my leg around to whack it full force on his head. He blocks it from a mud wall and freezes my leg in it making it turn into dirt.

That doesn't stop me through as I blast my other foot through the dirt wall, and I flip and kick his head in a downward motion with all my force. He falls to the ground in one hit and stops moving.

I stare at him laying down unconsciously. Everything goes dark again and I fall to my knees. My eye twitches as I look at him,

"He is the reason why I couldn't catch Amelia"

"He is the reason why she was getting hurt"

I pull him near me with his face faced away from me and I put his head in head lock. I stare aimlessly forward into the darkness as I start to twist his head in a motion to make him never move again.

"Just one twist… and he won't be able to do this again" I think as I grip his head and neck even more.

My heart starts to pound more, and I start to smile darkly.

"It would feel so good… if I were to jus- "

"Wait… I have to go find Amy", I say out loud and I look down to the alligator.

I drop him and I stand up.

"Arghh!", I wince as the pain in my chest intensifies.

"My chest… its… burning"

I clench my chest and breath heavily until the pain goes away. I shake my head and I try to get myself together to go find Amelia. I finally stand up slowly and turn around to where the treehouse fell. I notice Amy is missing.

I blast to where I last saw her and I see nothing. I hear a yell out in the forest behind me and I whip my head towards the direction. I move quickly and fly past through the trees, and I look for pink hair.

"Amelia, where are you!" I yell into the darkness and I land in an empty area with the moon only shinning in the area for light. I stayed in the trees to stay hidden as I watch the open area. The dark trees around the area made it hard to see if she was anywhere around.

Soon a purple bird hits the ground in front of me. I look that way and here comes Amy with an ice fist and goes to hit her head and the purple bird dodges the last moment. The purple bird water bends Ice blades and shoots them at Amy. Amy dodges them easily and then sends a big blast of water at the girl. It hits the girl and she hit a tree and then falls to her knees.

"Amelia!" I yell

She makes eye contact with me. I look over her body and I notice she has bruises here and there but she looks fine. She is holding her hand though, but I get distracted from her eyes. They have anger in them.

She then moves her eyes to the girl. I take a step from the shadows and I look near the girl. The girl also has a purple cloak on of course. The girl suddenly then blast mud into Amy's face and catches me off guard as she quickly runs at me. I shoot a fire blast at her and she grabs my wrist making me shoot it in the air and she jumps on my back while holding a sharp ice blade to my throat. I stumble a bit as new weight is added to my body. I try not to fall as she pushes the ice blade to my skin making it bleed.

My mouth twitches.

Amy water bends the mud from her face, and she looks to me. "Let him go" she says angrily.

"GET BACK OR I WILL CUT HIS THROAT", she threatens.

Amy takes steps back, not taking her eyes off of the purple bird. The purple girl laughs and moves her free hand up my face.

"Or maybe If you come with me prince Sonic, no one will get hurt", she says in my ear.

"Your purple cloak people are so fearless aren't you", I say calmly, and she laughs in my response. She moves closer to my ear and moves her hand lower on my chest.

"Is there something I should be afraid of, Prince".

I move my head away from and her voice. I look at Amy and she stands there staring at me.

"Hmm… I know those eyes in any woman. She likes you huh?" she questions as she rubs the sharp ice blade up my throat. Amy fist clenches as she sees the bird continues to toy with us.

"I can't let someone as evil as him touch our main prize ever again- "

BOOM!

An ice pillar hits the girl in face from the puddles laying in the ground and sends her flying from off me. I move quick and I blast fire from my feet. I grab the girl hand in midair before she hits the ground from the blow, and I launch her into the ground while throwing her over my shoulder with the blast of my fire.

I watch her body bounce on the ground and I soon zone out as the darkness feels my vision fast. I look at her arm in my hands.

"I should break this since she put Amelia in harm"

I tighten my grip and then-

"Sonic! Let's hurry", a strong voice says clearing the darkness from my gaze.

I turn around and I see Amelia shinning beautifully in the moonlight. My heart skips a beat a bit and I let go of the bird's arm.

I look at her beautiful, blue eyes and she looks at me. We both bend our powers together and mist appears covering the whole area.

I run over to Amelia and I grab her hand and she flinches. She yanks her hand back. I was about to question her, but she gives me her other one. She takes the lead and we run out of the mist to make sure we are not followed. We enter the woods again and I look down at her hand.

"This is where I always want to be", I think as I warm her hand getting her to squeeze mine in feedback.

We run for a good second and we stop once we see a river. The river is shining the moonlight, as it looks like it is miles long until it ends. Across the river is another set of thick trees but something feels… off as I look at them. I turn to Amy and she is looking at the river and then she looks at me. I notice what she is thinking, and I shake my head to her idea.

"I can barely do anything under water" I said looking at her in confusion.

She smiles at me and says

"It wouldn't be the first time you were under water", she says and smiles at me while water bending the water, opening the riverbed.

"Hu- ", I say but I get cut off from her jumping on the ground before I can understand her joke. I jump in the hole and then Amy closes it and surrounds the water around us, in a globe shape. I look around in amazement as the fish and pieces of weird plants float around the globe Amelia created.

Amelia then sits down fast and winces in pain at her hand. I almost forget that happened to her and she begins to heal her hand. She winces at the healing and gets on both knees while placing her head on the ground.

"Oh shit, does it hurt bad", I ask as I squat beside her.

"Yeah that dumb girl, stomped on my hand... I think she broke some bones in it", she says breathing heavily.

"If only I could have protected you..."

My heart feels heavy as I look at her heal her hand. I try to think of a way to support her and I sit on the ground beside her and me upon my arms. She looks at me and smiles softly. She crawls over with her uninjured hand. I carefully, wrap my arms around her as she heals her fingers. She continues to make pain noises as she heals her fingers, so I use my heat to make her feel calm. I pull her in closer and I put my chin on her shoulder.

"Ugh, this hurts so bad" she says while wincing in pain.

I look at her hand and I get an idea.

I start to hum a fire kingdom song, that my mother use to hum to me after I would get hurt during training. She moves her eyes to mine as I hum, and she calms down a bit. I smile slightly noticing that her pain subsides.

"This is probably one of the things my mom has taught me that helps a water bender". I think as I kiss the side her Amelia face.

Ten minutes later she heals her hand and sighs heavily. Healing must take a lot of energy from her, but I heard when the moon is full, it gives water benders a lot of energy so it's probably not as bad as it usually could be.

"So, what happened with the treehouse", I ask as I gently hold her hurt hand and I look at it.

"I'm not sure…one moment I was looking at the moon and then the treehouse splits in two… and there I am falling until water hits me, breaking my fall but I still hit the ground. Then this water bender attacks me, and we fight until you appear", she says looking at my hand holding hers "What happened to you though… I looked around for you, but I didn't see you…and when you did your lip was busted… I am guessing we were ambushed."

"Yeah I think so, but I don't see how they are finding us so quickly and-"

I stop before I tell her about the darkness I have been feeling lately.

"It might make her worry and I don't want her to think I am this super violent person… but maybe after what I did to the chameleon, she is already thinking like tha- "

"And?" Amelia says looking at me with interest.

I look back in her eyes.

"There is no way I can tell her now… maybe later but now we should really focus on this mission",

"And maybe we are in their territory", I say looking at the water beside me.

"Hmm, you might be right on that", Amy says. She then turns around and looks at me. She checks my face and arms for bruises.

"Hey, I am fine... I just was getting thrown a couple of times haha", I say while laughing. She smiles and hugs me from around my neck. I hug her by her waist.

"I didn't see you, so I was so afraid something happened to you"

"Sorry, I was not there, I could have prevented you from getting hurt but that won't happen again", I say strongly. She releases me from the hug and pecks me on the lips.

I kiss her back and say

"I also found a bag with a mask and a robe in it from that girl", Amy says pulling it from her pants.
