THE PAST

Amy POV

I can't breathe.

I can't move

I can't think

I think before watching fire burn down the trees in the forest. A hand grabs my mine and I notice that its Scourge's hand. He runs pulling me from the fire and dodging trees. Another blast flies over my head and we both duck as Scourge protects me with his body. I look up to see the other villagers ducking as well and then they get up and start running towards the safe zone. Another blast comes and I look at the blast noticing it was my mothers. I know my mom would be the only one to throw a fire blast like that. The fire blast bust through trees causing them all to fall down. I get yanked by Scourge again and we make our way out of the fall of trees branch and any other debris.

We run to the safe zone that was created for us water benders just in case the fire benders were coming to ambush us as we try to allow any bender into our kingdom... but a fire bender betrayed us even though we were the ones to betrayed them first. My mom said it was an accident. She was not trying to hit the prince with her lighting strike that was aimed at the queen of the fire kingdom. Hours later, we were talking and getting to know the other benders from all of the kingdoms and random villages. We also brought some of our people to meet the other villagers as well. Until a fire bender blasted a water bender and then set the forest ablaze. MY father starts to fight the fire bender and my mom yells at everyone to run to the safe zone.

I wanted to stay but my mom said it would be better if I watched over the new citizens of our kingdom, so I did what I was told. As I was motioning them to run to the west, I see more fire kingdom soldiers appear from the shadows. My water bending guards all start to attack the fire benders and so does my mom and dad. I get pulled away and I start to run.

We enter the safe zone, and everyone links back up with their loved ones and looks back to the fire ahead of them in fear. We then see Scourge's family. I feel scourges hand leave mine, I watch as he goes to hug his family. I turn away and I look to the forest of flames were my family was. Fighting for our kingdom.

I walk over to some citizens and I make sure they are okay. They nod but they all look worried. I try to give them hope but its hope I cannot even believe in, but I refuse to have myself look sad in front of my people.

A princess always has to look strong for her people.

"Everyone please watch over each other, if you are hurt go to the back of the safe zone to get healed," I say as everyone looks at the fight in the fire. I walk away from the citizens and I walk closer towards the battle in front of me.

My stomach turns and my throat goes dry from all the flames and explosions going on. I try not to break down, but I am so scared for my family.

They told me to get out of there and not help them out. They said I was not strong enough to fight the fire kingdom, but I just don't want to stand here as my family and soldiers fight for our kingdom.

I hate being like this.

I am 17 and I can't help one bit…

I grit my teeth and I lean down to the ground I punch it.

I punch it again and again out of anger.

I soon feel a hand on my fist, and I look, and I see Scourge, my boyfriend.

"Hey, they will return… your mom is so strong, and she would never lose against the fire kingdom", says scourge as he hugs me.

I hug him back and I try to calm down.

"I want to help them, but I can't, they say I am not strong enough and my life is way more important than the war", I say on the verge of tears.

"It is important, Ames", he says while pulling my chin up, he kisses me on the lips, reassuring me that everything would be okay. I small softly and wind starts to pick up.

The wind gets harsher and I look at Scourge in confusion as my hair starts to fly in face wildly. Soon it gets brighter and I turn to see.

A big fire blast.

Light flashes.

I open my eyes and I find myself on the ground, my vison is blurry, and I can't see. I blink a couple times and all I see is smoke and flames. I cough as I inhale the smoke. I stand up slowly. I look around and I see that the safe zone is destroyed. Fire is everywhere.

Bodies lying down are everywhere.

My eyes widen and I turn towards the forest. It's in a blaze of fire. I cough as I try to find out how to get out of the fire. I pause as I see a green body on the ground,

"Scourge', I yell jumping down to his side. I look at his leg and I notice it burned badly. I don't even remember the blast I thought while patting his face to wake him up. I lean down to try to detect him breathing and it's a faint breath. I shake scourge a little more and his blue eyes look to mine. He blinks a couple of times and looks around.

"Scourge we have to go," I say looking at him. He looks at me and slowly, dazed. I pull him up by his hand and he stands. He looks around and then panic fills his face.

"Wait… where is my family", he says looking at the fire and damage. He lets go of my hand heads to the spot where they were. I follow him and I look at the people who aren't alive anymore. I try not to break down as I look for someone who is alive.

No one is.

I cough as the smoke flies in my face and then I hear Scourge scream. I watch as he looks down in the area where his family was. He grabs a now blanked hand and cries loudly.

I can't do this.

I can't look at this.

I can't watch.

I turn away and I see one of the water benders crawling. I run to them and I look at their face. The water bender was burnt all over there face and body.

"Hey, it's okay, I am going to get you out of here", I say as I stop them from crawling, and I pick up their head. The water bender looks at me and smiles. They then start coughing and I rub my hand over there head, starting to heal them. I soon feel a burnt, blackened hand on my wrist, and it moves me from the water benders face. I look at the hand and I notice it's the water benders.

"I am just happy that you are safe princess",

"Please don't worry about me no- "I say as their eyes stop moving. My hands begin to shake as my people die in my arms. I gently lay the person on the ground I stand.

I can't hear anything.

A tear leaks out of my eyes as I step over more bodies. I continue to walk over the bodies until I walk to a small pond.

I can't feel emotions.

I water bend the water in small waves and I through it at the fire. It isn't good enough to stop out the flames. I soon start water bending a lot of water and I drop it over the fire. I continue to do this until the orange of the flames die out and the ground is now filled with black ash.

I hear yelling in the distance, and I turn around to see a fire. Kingdom solider slice scourge in the chest with a sword. My eyes widen as he hits the ground with his knees.

I can't move

I think as I watch scourge gets sliced once again. Blood flies in the air onto the ash.

I run without instinct and I charge at the guy slicing scourge in the chest again for the third time. I stop once Scourge hits then ground and his eyes move to mine. He looks at me weakly and says.

"Run…Amelia... please run"

Tears run out of my eyes and I notice the fire bender looks my way.

The fire bender with a sharp yellow beak and green feathers with on a sword in his hand, starts walking my way and grins evilly.

"You look like the woman, who is getting her ass handed to her in the forest", he says while walking to be quicker. I take steps back and I take in what he says.

"You mea- "

"Yes, I mean your mother", he says while holding a fire in his palm.

"At least I get to kill the princess…now we will really wipe out the water kingdom", he says.

"AMY RUN", Scourge yells.

My knees buckle at the statements getting thrown at me. I turn and I start to run. I see light coming from behind me and I duck dodging the fire just in time. I get back up and I start running again but I trip over rubble from the blast. I hit the ground hard. I try to stand but a large foot presses on my body causing me not to get up. An immense heat comes from the foot causing me to wince. I watch as the ground gets brighter.

"THIS IS IT KID… YOUR LIFE WILL BE SPARED FOR THE FIRE KINGDOM", he yells.

I close my eyes shut and try to think I am somewhere else.

At the castle, training with my father…get lectured by my mom…being with scourge…laughing with rouge…

I smile softly as I blank out the world in front of me.

BOOOOM

I cover my head at the loud noise and then I hear a body fall behind me. I feel the foot from my back disappear and I look up to see different feet. I know these feet.

"Mom", I say as I look at her in awe.

She leans down and picks me up.

"It's going to be okay Amelia: she says while leaning down to hug me.

She doesn't look that badly hurt and she is smiling at me. Tears fill my eyes again.

I thought she died but here she is. I hug her back tightly and I feel her warmth come from her chest like she always does to calm me down. She releases me and brings me up to my feet. I watch her look around at the damage and she winces. She tries not to cry either and looks back to me.

"I need you to get Scourge and get out of here," she says strongly.

"What… we just got back together... I don't want to be away from you again"", I say talking quickly. She looks at me and kisses my forward head. My head looks down to our feet and then she picks my head up.

"Head high and act powerful, remember", she says.

I look into her gold eyes and I nod my head. I pick my head up and I walk to Scourge. He is passed out from losing blood from his wound. I bend down and I put him over my shoulder.

"AMY GET DOWN", I hear my mother shout. I look behind me and I see her running at me. I then look and I see a woman flying in the air with a fire royal outfit on and she has lightning in her hand. She shoots at me and I drop Scourge.

I stare at the lighting heading for me and I then look to my mom. She shoots back lighting as well and it hits the woman flying in the air. The woman in the air slowly falls to the ground, but the lighting is still heading for me, but I see my mother appear in front it.

She smiles at me as she jumps in front of me hugging me.

I feel my leg burst in pain and everything goes dark.

I can't see.

I don't remember what happened after the blast.

I can see my mother's last smile.

PRESENT TIME

Amy POV

Tears leave my eyes as I stare at scourge, I recognized his voice while he was talking on the throne.

He drops the mask on the floor and then removes the cape from my body. He stares at my body and then eyes the scar on leg from the lighting mark.

I can't believe... he is the one killing all the innocent fire benders. This can't not be true. I know he left the kingdom after being mad from not wanting the kingdom to allow other benders in but him killing people…that's not the Scourge I remember the day we broke up. Even the look in his eyes aren't the same.

I stare at his blue eyes and he stars back into mine.

"What a surprise, hm", he says while smiling at my face

I stand still as I am still trying to figure this out.

"I also can't believe you are working with the prince's mom who killed your mom… that's a real shock", he says while smiling amusingly.

I still look at him in the eyes as I can't talk.

"And the same goes for you prince", he says now turning to Sonic who hasn't moved still looking forward.

He then looks back at me and takes a step forward. I move more back until he grabs my hand. I yank my hand away and he looks at me acting fake hurt by putting his hand on his chest.

"Wow, Ames that is cold coming from you, yes we went our separate ways, but it doesn't mean that our relationship is lost- "

"Don't you fucking touch her" Sonic says as his body starts shaking as he is now looking at us. Scourge looks at Sonic and then walks towards him. He kneels right in front of Sonic, looking at his face closely. Scourge smiles slowly and says.

"Ooh, don't touch her huh", he looks at me and then looks back to Sonic, "You know I was hitting that first right, and based on how you said that sounds like you are getting my leftovers",

Sonic looks in his eyes with a death intent.

"That's okay… leftovers taste good", Sonic says back.

Scourge starts laughing slowly at his comeback. Scourge stands up while laughing holding his stomach. He then suddenly stops, and he lifts his finger up and to the right. Sonic goes flying to the side of the wall in the palace creating a huge hole in wall. Sonic hits the wall and then falls to the ground, laying on the floor and he starts shaking again…like he is trying to move but he can't.

I water bend water from a plant in the corner and I launch it at Scourge's head but then my hand freezes in the air. I also notice I can't move and the water I was about to hit scourge with falls on the ground.

My eyes widen as I figure out, he is using Blood bending. A technique so hard to learn and is most powerful when the moon is full. My arm gets forced to my side and Scourge walks up to me. He walks up to me and presses his chest to mine. I look at him in his eyes angrily. He then steps away and smiles.'

"Wow, you can't use blood bending yet, shame", he says. He then bloods bends Sonic body across the floor and puts him beside me. I look at sonic and I notice his head is bleeding making himself close his eye to avoid blood getting in it. I try to reach out to heal him, but I can't move my hand. He looks at me and smiles.

How is he so calm.

"So, you guys are a thing…wow never would I have realized a fire prince could even muster the heart to even look at a water bender at the same level", he says looking at us.

"Unless he isn't and he is just using you for other things... maybe to trick you and take over the water kingdom, huh" he says while tapping Sonic on the head with his foot. Sonic growls as Scourges boot hits his face.

I continue to look at Sonic and he looks at me. I want to help him, but I can't move my hands at all. It feels like I am a puppet, unable to control my own muscles.

"It's okay, I am fine," Sonic says to me

I feel my neck move by itself and I get forced to look away from Sonic and I look up at scourge.

I look at Scourge and I notice the scars from the fire bender is still on his chest as I see it peaking up at me from his shirt.

"Why are you betraying the water kingdom… after that battle when we lost almost everyone... here you are fucking one of the enemies' blood that was the cause of innocents losing their lives", he says looking at me angrily.

He then bends down and puts my hands on my shoulders.

"You do remember don't you, I know you got hit by lightning from the fire queen but now… you are dating her offspring", he says looking into my eyes for answers.

"He is not like her- ",

Scourge cuts me off from grabbing Sonic head and slamming it into the ground. I try to move but I can't as I hear Sonic groan in pain.

"He looks EXACTLY LIKE THAT DEMON", he yells at me showing me Sonic now more bloody face.

"He is the offspring of the one who killed endless of people, the fire kingdom should not exist anyone based on how much pain they have spread over the years", he says while clenching to Sonic hair.

"He isn't like her... he wants to change the world for equality just like me and my mother wanted- "

Scourge slams Sonic head on the ground again causing blood to hit my leg. I jump at the force of Sonic's head bouncing on the marble floor.

"SCORGUE STOP" I yell, and he hits Sonic's head again against the floor and he blood blends Sonic across the floor back to the whole in the wall.

I didn't get the chance to look at Sonic, but I notice his blood is smeared on the floor as he goes back to the wall. I bite my lip as I notice Sonic is not moving. Tears rush to my eyes and Scourge holds my face in his hands.

"You really are about to cry over someone of this stature... I am trying to get you see how you should not be with him…come back to me", he says softly while rubbing my face.

"No… you haven't been the same since the day we lost everyone… I heard you have been killing innocent fire benders and that's not what the Scourge I know would do...", I say while looking him in the eyes.

He shakes his head and pulls me in close a hug.

"I am trying to make a world safe for us again Ames, yes I changed after that day but who didn't. Everyone was sad and depressed for years and most still are after that day, but I will heal everyone and you after making the world free of fire", he says as he rubs my back.

"You are wrong Scourge… I did not change after that day... yes my mother was gone but I still hold her idea close to my heart... making the world equal for all benders to live in peace... your way of doing things makes you no better than SONIC'S MOM" I yell.

He soon moves out of the hug and then shakes his head slowly. He leans his head in close to mine inching towards my lips and I stare at him.

"He has you brain washed... that's okay because if I can't have you then he won't either" he says.

He then grabs a fist full of my hair and starts pulling me along the marble heading to the entrance of the throne room. He snaps his fingers and the guards who walked in with him form the square formation around him. I grab at his hands as he pulls on my hair. He starts walking quickly and my legs drag across the marble floor.

"Put prince Sonic in the chambers and freeze him so much he can't think", he says darkly to the big guards. The grey hedgehog and the purple echidna nod and walk towards Sonic.

"No... please don't hurt him, I say in pain as my head hurts from being pulled out of the room.

"Oh, he won't die yet, we need a special audience for that" he says as I watch Sonic getting pulled up, still unconscious.
