Sonic
The door closes after Amelia left and everyone looked at me.
"So, you are throwing us all away?" Knuckles says and I panic.
"No! I- "
"Then why did you say that?" Blaze says and I stood still. "I thought you were going to let us help you Sonic?"
"I want that, but I don't want you all to risk your lives for me… Amelia…. She did something unchangeable." I say and Cream lets go of my side and I tried to stand on my weak leg, but I stumble into the window.
"Then we aren't helping you." Cream says and I watched her walk off and then Silver stood nearby me.
"All she did was help Sonic. We all risked our lives for you… you should have thanked her." Silver says and I look at the door.
"I never asked her to do that- "
"People who care about each other don't have to get permission to help you!" Rouge yelled and I started to regret what I said. "You are telling me that we risked our lives for no reason, and you are not even grateful? Sonic, we were all close to death because we care about you."
"I know…" I say and then I lean on the wall.
"You don't know anything." Cream says and she comes back with glasses and puts on gloves.
"You have no idea what happened after you got hit! We all risked our lives for you! We were under the seafloor with barely any chi, and we used the last of our chi for you! You wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Amy!" Cream says and she pushes me to the bed and shoves me to lay down.
"Amy risked her life for you! Everything she has been doing is for you! And I can't believe you told her that her sacrifices are for nothing! I thought you liked her!? Are you just playing my best friend?!" Cream harshly grabbed my leg and I wince and then Rouge placed her hand on Cream's arm.
"Cream… there is no point to speak to him about it." Rouge says and Cream lets her grip go and then checks on my leg.
The room went silent, but I had noticed that most of them weren't looking excited to see me when I first opened my eyes.
They were looking hurt.
"I'm going to go blow off some more steam." Blaze says lowly and she walks out the room while shaking her head.
Cream pushed on my hip bone, and I wince. Her hands glow green, and I saw Knuckles lean on the wall and I kept my eyes to myself but then I cleared my throat.
"I…I'm not used to people caring about me."
The room was still quiet after I said that and then I looked around at my friends that were still standing in my hospital room after I told them that I didn't want them to harm themselves to protect me.
"And I'm not used to letting anyone in… Sorry if I offended you all. I am… forever grateful for you saving me… I-I worry about you all too… And now thinking about it… I have no idea what you all went through after me getting hit with that blast… I'm afraid. That's why I said what I said so harshly."
The room was still silent, and I grimace my eyes as Cream heals over a stop that was sore and she went higher, and I groan.
"Does it hurt when I touch this?" Cream says and I jump in pain, and I watch everyone's eyes move to mine.
"Y-Yeah." I say and she nods her head and takes her glasses off.
"This might be something…short term… or worse." Cream says and she rubs my leg to soothe the pain. "You are going to have go through some physical healing and training but… I think for now you are going to have a small limp."
"A limp?" Knuckles asks.
"Yes… unfortunately… I think it's due to trauma of when you were hit, it might have slipped your femoral head a little bit…and healing something so important is going to take a moment." Cream says.
"Does it hurt when you walk?"
"Let me try." I move my legs this time and instantly felt pain and move back to laying down.
"Ouch. Ouch." I try to get comfortable, and Knuckles helps me back on the bed.
"No, wait." Cream says and then she walks over to Knuckles. "Could you help him to his feet. I want to be sure about this." She says and Knuckles picks me up from under my arms.
"Aah… fuck my leg. I can feel it not in place or something." I complain and Knuckles got me on my feet.
"Just put your weight on me so she can check it out." Knuckles says and I do so, but I also think about what he said.
"I know I can depend on you guys. I'm not used to it. And I'm sorry if I say something very insensitive but… I not used to this." I say and Knuckles sighs while Cream touches my leg.
"Then how many more times are we going to have to risk our lives to save yours for you to realize?" he says, and I shrug my shoulders.
"I'm wondering the same thing because I have never seen Cream frown for so long." Silver jokes and some of them laugh and I chuckle silently myself until her eyes stabbed daggers into mine.
"OW!"
Cream smacked my leg that was already feeling staticky and started to heal me again.
"That isn't funny. I'm still mad at you for what you said."
"I know… Sorry." I say and her eyes don't budge but I touch her head and she look at me. "Seriously. I am sorry to everyone for what said."
"Forgiven!" Silver says but then the rest of them gives him an eye for letting me off so smoothly and Silver blushes. "I-I-I mean… it's not like he isn't going to hide from us anymore! He is awake and the prince can tell us everything that goes on with him."
"He didn't say that himself." Rouge says and sits down with her arms folded.
"Well, its new for him so give him a moment accommodate!" Silver says and he pats my arm.
They all wait for me to speak, and once Cream looked at me, I felt nervous.
"Y-yeah. I can let you all know everything."
The room was quiet, and eyes were on me as I finally decided to let them in and then Maria jumped up.
"Why did you yell that Amelia has the darkness? Are you two a thing? Did she just break up with you?" Maria asks and I just remember that all of that happened.
"Vaatu held me hostage in the dark realm because of my inactive use of the darkness. I would not use the power and avoid feeling it so once I got hit with the blast… I think it knocked my spirit out and…" My head started to feel fuzzy, and I rub my eyes.
"Sorry, my head feels funny." I say and I heard the echo of my voice and I open my eyes.
The entire room was incaved in darkness and I took a step back.
"Why now?" I whispered and I tried to snap out of it, but it was really hard too.
Suddenly I listen to feet scrape on the floor and I pause as I see my mom.
"Sonic!"
"Mom…" I whisper and then she walks up to me fast.
"You let in Princess Amelia? Why can I sense her everywhere?!" My mom complained and then I looked around for her.
"I didn't let her in she volunteered so I could wake up again." I explain and my mom stood still.
"…She what?"
"Yes, she…is a part of us now."
My mom shook her head in disbelief.
"Vaatu…let a water bender in our realm?!"
"Well, she isn't only a water bender, she does fire too- "
"The enemy!" My mom yells and I stood there and watched her stress and then I walk over to her as she talks to herself.
"I have to speak to Vaatu… if she has the darkness then she is going to know everything about the fire kingdom and its cultures… secrets- "
I hugged my mom and she stopped talking.
"I don't think the fire kingdom is going to standing any longer mom." And I hug her tighter. "Everything doesn't matter anymore. They banished me and you… you are long gone too… with a water bender finally getting to see a side on the fire kingdom."
I move and I see my mom shedding tears, but I wipe one of them away.
"It's okay… I'm afraid of change too."
"But…. What is everything your grandmother and father worked for? Everyone… all those lives just thrown away because of one girl trying to change it all… we… we can't trust them."
"We can't trust our own kind either." I say and I bring her in for another hug. "Don't you remember? Cheyenne tried to kill me… And Jet… The fire kingdom is going to fall and maybe that's what we need. To… be vulnerable. And then that way… everything our grandfathers and ancestors' history can live on forever… safely. And I will make it happen."
My mom hugs me back and then she sighs.
"Just don't get yourself killed."
"I won't."
…
"And what?"
I remove my hand from my eye, and I see them all staring at me.
"I… what was I talking about?"
"… You just said that you felt like your spirit got knocked out." Knuckles reminds me.
"O-oh. Sorry, I think I had might have gone into the darkness for a second- "
"I noticed. Your eyes went empty for a second." Shadow says.
"What is that like? Last time you froze like that you said something about Vaatu." Silver walks closer.
"Vaatu is… the spirit of darkness and chaos…uh he talks to me sometimes and even when he gets too strong… I black out and he takes over my body for me to fight… That's why I was there for so long because I was avoiding him. I never wanted to kill anyone or fight anybody. And I might seem like a hot head sometimes but really… I just want to kind to people and not deemed as a monster. So, I suppressed it and I think once I finally was knocked into the spirit world. A place where he could really trap me. He kept me here and now… Amelia might see him too." Saying that last sentence frightened me because of all the visions I have been shown through Vaatu and I groan. "That's why I was so mad at Amelia for doing that. I wouldn't wish this to my worst enemy."
"Understandable." Knuckles adds but then leans on the wall. "But even if I saw you stuck somewhere… I think I would react the same way as the Princess."
"Agreed." Silver adds and my ears fall a bit.
"…yeah." My voice was more than worried, and I watched Cream heal my leg as the room rose in silence.
"Just go apologize to her. She went to her mom's secret garden." A voice says and I look up to see Axel near the door.
Axel then walks out, and Shadow starts to make his way out too with Maria scurrying behind him.
"What do I even say to her…" I murmur and I think about what I said and did I face palm from putting my hands on her. "I'm such an idiot."
"Yep." Rouge says and starts to head to the door too. "I'm going to attempt to make some fire bending clothes for a princess… it's been a while…" Rouge says and leaves too and then it was just Cream, Silver and Knuckles.
"Seems like everyone is still mad at me."
"You did yell at everyone when all we did was save your life." Silver says.
"Wait… where is Tails?" I ask since I thought about everyone being mad at me.
"At Cream's place. He isn't allowed in here… and he might be a little mad at you too."
"I know…" And I cover my face with my hands. "I'm not great at keeping friends… or relationships."
"All you can do is work on it." Knuckles pats my arm and then points towards the door. "But while you heal and think about your decisions… I'm going to give Rouge some helpful tips on fire bending clothes… ya know… since we did just get banished from our home about a month ago." Knuckles says.
"Well, you have a new home now Knuckles." Cream says nicely and I take in her friendliness to her friend and think about using that with the others.
"Thanks Cream. I'll catch you guys." After Knuckles left Silver stayed by and studied Cream healing me and Cream was breaking a sweat as she healed me the best she could while I laid there.
Some hours even pass, and my healthy leg starts to shake in anticipation and Cream pauses and looks at me.
"What's going on with your leg?"
"I… I'm anxious to go see her." I whisper and Silver laughs and walks over with some water with some random herbs in it and they gently pour it on my hip, and I flinch from the cold water to my warm skin. "Argh… You guys do know that this feeling of water hurts right?"
"A sting of water is the least of your worries." Cream says and I groan as they pour to ease my pain and it was going away but it hurt so bad at the same time.
"Okay… now try to stand. If Silver's herbs work, then it shouldn't be that hard- "
I spring up and I trip over my own foot causing me to fall into a table and Silver catches me and I slowly stand on my feet.
"Sonic are you crazy?!" Cream walks over and starts to clean up the mess and I bend down to help her and then I fall on my hands and knees. "What- Sonic don't bend over!"
"Sorry! I was trying to help." I get up with the help of Silver and Cream picks up the last of the things dropped and then she looks at my hip.
"Try to walk to me." Cream takes some steps back and Silver lets me go slowly.
"I'll catch you if you fall." Silver says with a smile and I shakingly take my first step.
I could even tell from how my leg wanted to move that I had damaged it very badly. My leg shook while I tried to lift, and I almost fell but I caught myself and Silver placed his hand on my shoulder if needed to help me.
I move my leg once and it shakes as I lift it and then I rushed back over to my good leg and Silver stayed close by me.
"Hey! I think that's good for a first step!" Silver says and I tried to stay balanced.
"He is still having to focus so much on not falling over." Cream says and I take another step and I slightly limp on it.
I take more steps until I got close to Cream and she smiles a bit and then points to the bed.
"You are doing better than expected. Great. I think I can sweat in two more hours of healing, and you should be able to walk without thinking about the limp."
"Two more hours?!" I complain and Cream eye twitches and I shut up fast. "Two more hours. That sounds great."
"Good." Cream says with a warning smile, and I limp back to the bed slowly to finish my healing.
Two more hours.
"It burns!" I yelp out as they poured another batch of this healing shit on me and Silver laughs.
"You are done!... for today." Silver says and I slowly get lifted up and Cream wipes her faces and waves her hands to me.
"Walk."
"Okay… Sonic you have to walk perfectly so you can at least get out of this room and go see Amelia until you have more physical training. Focus."
I bawl my lip and I lift my leg and it moves a lot smoother, but my limp was still current, but I was walking.
"Wow! Look at that." Cream says and then she looks over me to Silver. "Your herbs help a lot."
"And so does your healing! We make a pretty good team." Silver smiles and Cream does too, and I stare at the door while they become best friends. "Sonic- "
"Yes." I say before Cream finished my name and she squints at me.
"Make sure you back here tomorrow at 12pm. I want to continue your physical therapy and check on your health. You did wake up and we found out that it wasn't a coma so you should be fine… but I want you to be back here tomorrow!"
"Yes. I can do that. Can I go?"
"Yes."
"Thanks so much Cream and Silver." I say and I start walking past them and Cream was watching me closely while I left.
I walk out the room and I look around until I saw the king at the door, talking to the nurses and I slowly creep into another medical room.
"If I run into the king… he might not let me leave and I would have to explain myself again. I have to get outside so I can find her… Axel said she was in her mom's secret garden? How am I going to find a secret?"
I walk to a window, and I look around through the outside and see trees and water pouring out of some of the architecture, but it was empty outside.
I open the window and I carefully fly out of it, and I soar a bit over the castle until I found some plain grass that was a little distance from the castle.
"Where could you be?" I say aloud and I start to limp and walk around the ground until maybe I could catch a connection or something. I walk around for some time, and I wasn't finding her or seeing any garden.
At this point I was going in a circle in the backyard of a castle.
"Dammit. I have no idea where to look." I say and sit on the grass for a moment.
The sun was beaming, and it didn't even feel like it had snowed like they said it did a week ago.
I look at the blue sky and I lean down to the ground and close my eyes.
"Where are you… so I can apologize."
I open my eyes and then my breathing stops.
I saw a light glimmer float over my head fast and I lean up and watch it zoom down the grassy land.
"Wait!" I yell after it and I limp a bit as I attempt to speed walk. Trees started to appear as I walked further, and the little flicker of glimmer dashed through trees and around it and then it finally went through some vines, and I froze.
Suddenly I felt a pull in me, and I knew she had to be through those vines. I was nervous and my limbs dropped while I thought how she could look.
Sad.
Irritated.
I made her feel those emotions more than happy and that's the reason why I was walking so slowly and carefully through the vines. It was darker in here but then there was light shown in certain places as I stepped in quietly.
There she was.
Her foot was in the water and her back was facing away from me.
Her mother's secret garden was definitely a secret because I would have never guessed this was here. There was flowers and vegetables growing everywhere. With light shining on certain stops so they would get their nutrient. There was also a pond that was as clear as the sky and I could see the bottom of it from afar.
But what I could not see was her face.
I take on step and I look down to see I stepped on a flower, and I noticed that there were all types of flowers growing and I should be careful to not make her anymore mad.
I walk closer to her, and I wondered if she even noticed me as I slowly got in the sunlight. I stood behind her while holding my fingers together.
I also kept my distance as I sat down about 10 feet from her, and I moved my eyes to the water. The lily pads were moving slowly and based on how they looked so calm… I felt my heart pounding through my chest.
But… I wanted to fix this… again.
I look at her face and her blue eyes were looking into the water, and she had her feet in it. A small green aura was around her feet, and I wondered why she was healing herself when I saw nothing wrong… unless she was hurting in the inside from what I said.
I look at the water too and I gently placed one in, and I shivered at the feeling and even me shivering slightly didn't make her eyes look towards me.
So, I spoke.
"Your mom… is really cool… I never would have found this place without some help." I say and I turn my head to look at her and she was still looking into the water.
I face back forward and sigh myself. My ears dropped because I knew she was quiet because once again…. I hurt her and I don't understand how to relationship without hurting someone.
"That was dumb of me to say…sorry." I muster and then I thought everything else I said and did that was even more dumb than what I said.
"Amelia…" I start off and I rub my face stressfully. "This isn't what… I didn't want too- or I wasn't trying to speak to you how I did and grab you like I did. "I felt nervous and desperate after what I said.
"I'll tell you everything. Okay?" I say and I look at her face and all she did was blink while looking at her foot in the water. "Even though… it might be too late, and I said 'no' to you so many times… I will let you in… I was trying too…" I looked at myself in the reflection and I didn't even realize the light dark circles under my eyes.
I lean in closer to look at my face and I was even bandages around my arm.
"Is this what she had to look at while I was sleep for a week."
My eyes move back to her, and she moves her foot around the water.
"I'm sorry. For everything I said and did. And… I will not do it again. I promise."
"Sure."
Her voice makes me pick my head up so fast and I even turn around to body that had not changed facial expressions.
"I…. I mean it, Amelia. I'm not sure where to start apologizing because… I did a lot, and I am now realizing that I should have thanked for what you did for me, and I appreciate that so much… I wouldn't be here without you so… Just grant me the chance to… retry…. Again. And yes… this issue is the same reason because we broke up the first time but now… I want to change. I understand that if we are going to have any kind of relationship then I need to be able to tell you about me… And I will. Anything you want. I didn't understand it before, but I do now."
I waited her to speak or show some kind of emotion but… maybe she was giving up on this because we had been through this too many times before.
"I am not ready for… us to end. I feel like we never really started and… I want too." I say truthfully.
The area was silent, and I waited and then moved her eyes slightly.
"Do you regret yelling at me for risking my life and joining the dark realm to save you?"
Her question made me squeeze my fist and I felt so angry Vaatu let her do that.
"I… I don't because… you don't understand what it could do to you, Amelia. I want you safe so yes… I was angry and I still but now… There is nothing I can do but ease you into it and let you know more about me. That's all I want to do."
Amelia smiled a bit and then she stood up and water bends the water droplets from her leg back in and starts to walk out.
"Amelia- "
"You still don't understand."
Her words made me stand up fast even with me struggling to get on my feet and I sped walked to her and grabbed her hand.
"Help me understand."
Amelia face was away from mine, and she turned to me and looked down at my leg.
"Why are you walking around on an injured leg?"
"Cream, said it would be okay… I have to go to physical therapy every afternoon but- that isn't the point. I want to fix this… Once and for all. I will never make you mad at me again."
Amy moves her hand from mine, and she sighs as she looks over my face.
"That's impossible to do."
"No, it isn't. I am a fast learner. If we walk and communicate then I will never have a reason to make you angry!" I say and Amelia didn't look convinced.
"I don't trust you." She says plainly and that hurt to hear. "You have so many secrets. So many and you only tell me when I try to let you go. So, what does that mean… you don't trust me. You don't want to grow anything more than what we are, and you are a liar. If we can't have trust, then why are you in my face saying this… again."
I stood there and I was starting to feel even more nervous as she broke eye contact with me and then she takes a step to walk away.
"Yeah… that's exactly what I thought- "
I bear hug Amelia and she mumbles something in my chest and then I fly straight into the sky. I dodge a hole that was in a rock, and I send me and Amelia in the sky. I fly high into the sky, and she screams and kicks my hurt leg and I wince, and she notices and gasps.
"I'm sorry- WAIT! WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?!"
"I don't know!" I yell and she tries to wiggle out of my grip.
"Sonic! Let me go!"
"But if I do then I might drop you- "
Amelia kicks me from my grip, and she descends in the air, and I fly down and catch her, and she still wiggles in my arms.
"SONIC! LET ME GO!"
"I NEED TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT THIS!" I say and she rolls out of my arms once more and I catch her again by wrapping my arms around her body. I watch her grunt angrily in my arms and I frown.
"Please." I say and she slowed down from struggling in my arms and she looks at me. "I'm sorry. I really am. I want to… I've wanted to let you in for so long. And I'm ready to do so. I promise. I know. I fucked up a lot of times and I am tired of using my past as an excuse. I am sorry for lying to you and not being trustworthy. I told you as soon as we leave the spirit world then… I would focus on us. Even after Scourge. I promised that and at least I kept one promise… right?"
Amelia eyes went soft and then her face got red and she pushed me away from her again and I caught her just in time and I held her back in my arms.
Tears were rolling down her face and I focus into her eyes, and I move my arm to wipe her eye and she smacks my hand away.
"Put me down." She says and I float down slowly, and I place her in the grass, and she folded her arms and faced away from me.
"I seriously can't stand you." Amelia says and storms over into the water and I watch her mumble to herself, and she starts to sink into water.
I walk over and I saw Amelia sit under water and then I make my way into the water too. I already cringe and, but I was going to do this for her, and I dive in the water and swim into the bubble she created, and she turns around as I splash in. I shake my hair and my heat rushes back and I look at Amelia frowning at me.
"What do you want?!" She yells at me.
"To talk- "
Amelia water bends me out of her bubble and sends me back to the surface. I sit on the ground, and I shake the water from my hair again and shiver. I warm up but I also walk to the edge of the pond, and I watch her sit under water.
An hour passes of me waiting and I had my hand on my lap as I watched her finally move and she floats to the surface and sees that I never left.
"I… uh."
Amelia stepped out the water with her hair dripping and looks down at me.
"What."
"Nothing…" I say and then I look over her face longer and it reminded me how much I loved seeing her hair wet on her face.
"I'm leaving- "
"Do you want to go on a date with me." I interrupt and she stood beside me before walking away.
"A what?"
"A date." I say and I struggle to stand on my feet, and she helps me up but then removes her hands from mine.
"Why a date?"
She is curious and not saying no.
"I always wanted to go on a date with you… that's how I would have started us out if we could've had a normal life." I say and think hard about what I asked and then she still was walking away, and I followed her. "Is that a, yes?"
"No."
All answers and questions were short, and I look at the setting sky and was thinking about flying into it with her again but she was looking like she was starting to want to fight me so I couldn't use my special card anymore.
"Okay… how about you change clothes, and we eat at town."
"That's still sounds like a date."
"No… I'm wording it different now."
Amelia growled and I felt her warmth from her body, but I didn't back down.
"I really want to take you on date, Amelia."
"Why do you think, you deserve a date with me!?" She stopped and yelled at me. "You don't trust me with knowing your secrets, but you want to take me on a date? For what? What is going on a date possible going to do?"
I stare at her steaming face, and I rub the back of my neck. "Spending time together and keeping my promise to be together." I blush a bit and she roll her eyes and continues to walk back to her castle.
"Well, I don't want you to put your hands on me if I do something you don't like." Amelia continues to walk, and I smile a bit.
"If I did put my hands on you… it wouldn't be a way you wouldn't like. Trust me-" and she starts to walk faster, and I try to catch with her, but my limp starts to become a nuisance. "That was a bad joke! Sorry- "
"Sonic, look." Amelia slows down and she watches me limp. "You need to rest. Your limp isn't looking good."
"I can rest at the date! We can sit somewhere… I could pay for it! Uh… well I don't have any money so you would have too… uh." Amelia was giving me another dumb look and I brush it off. "I could sit at a table and walk around slow with you… I could use a tour of Asendel too."
She was thinking about it, but she was still mad at me and also thinking the same way I was. We never went on a date with each other before.
"Maybe Rouge can lend me some money- "
"No… I'll pay for it."
Wind blew in both of our hair, and I felt a surge of energy.
"So… you will go on a date with me?"
"As long as you don't touch me or bring up what you said." She says and turns away and I take the time to dance behind her.
"Yes! That worked! I still have another chance!" I jump in the air and then stumble back on the ground, and I noticed that she was watching, and I freeze.
"Ha… uh… Where are we going?" I say happily and we get closer to the castle.
"Probably an old restaurant I used to go to as a child. I am supposed to be grounded and not allowed to leave the castle but… I could use a home cooked meal right now so we can go there."
"Cool! I would love to go. See some of your childhood. I'm excited." I chirp and then Amelia didn't say much, and I scoop her up and fly her to balcony.
Amelia was about to protest until she saw where I was going, and I gently place her on it, and I stand on the balcony as she walked to her door and opened it with small ice pick she created.
"Uh… how about we go when the sun is gone?"
"Okay… and…" She blushes and points at my clothes and I look down at it. "You need to wear something else than a hospital gown. Your junk is flying everywhere."
I look down and realize that I had been in this for a moment, and it was revealing a lot of me.
"Oh… okay- "
Amelia closes the door and locks it and then she shuts her curtains.
"Where am I going to find clothes?" I thought and flew down to the bottom of the castle and I see Rouge walking outside with Knuckles and they are chatting and laughing a lot. "Hey!" I yell and walk to them, and Rouge frowned at me while Knuckles smiled.
"Yo! You find her?"
"Y-yeah. We are going on a date."
"What?" Rouge says and I felt anger from her. "She forgave you so fast?"
"No… not all. I think she is only going because she wants to eat out." I say sadly and Rouge sighs.
"That doesn't mean it's over. You just have to give her time." Knuckles says.
"I know. But Rouge I need your help. I need some clothes for tonight."
"Why should I help you… I thought you didn't want us to help." Rouge shoves into me and I touch her arm.
"I do need your help." I state and Rouge groans and turns back around.
"I'm going to get you some clothes! But you better not mess them up or ruin this night with Amy! You got that?"
"Yes. Thank you- "
"Knuckles take the Ex-Prince to my room. He can change there." Rouge adds in a new nickname to hurt my feelings and Knuckles laughs and we both walk back in the castle.
"Ex-Prince? Did she really have to say that?"

"I… had been thinking of leaving Asendel for a moment." He says and I open the door wider and step out.
"What?... why? And go where?"
"Somewhere. Over the time from being here… I think ever since we became friends in kindergarten and your mother told me to protect you… I had been stuck on that my entire life and from… how much danger I put you guys in… and the prince then I think I need a reevaluation."
"Axel…. Hold on." I say and steps back from me.
"No… it's okay." Axel says and he looks at the door. "Everyone is seeming to… find something worth fighting for lately and I think I lost that."
I noticed that he could probably sense Sonic in my bed, and I watch him move his eyes to mine. Both of our eyes showed knowing look about him having a crush on me but he didn't bring it up.
"I need to find myself again and my passion. Don't take it to heart. This is about me. I'm lost and I need to find myself. So, I can be stronger and not the reason why my friends are being in danger. I made a lot of mistakes on our journey, and I want to learn from them. I can't do that by staying here."
I felt like there wasn't much I could say but nod my head and he smiled.
"I'll see you soon." He says and he walks away and walks down the stairs and I stood there… watching my best friend leave.
I walk back in the room, and I saw Sonic sitting in my bed and he watched my face.
"Axel is leaving the kingdom."
"I heard… the conversation…" Sonic says, and I start to put on a sweater and some comfortable pants and with socks and shoes and Sonic got out my bed and then I grabbed my hairbrush and ran it through my hair.
I look at myself and Sonic walked up behind me and rubbed my shoulders.
"Maybe this is what he needs." Sonic says and I nod my head.
"Possibly." I sigh and then he turns me around.
"He said he will see you soon. Sometimes…people need to leave the comfort of their home to find themselves. We all did it too." Sonic reminds me and nod my head but then I couldn't help but to worry.
But he was right.
"You okay?" he asks, and I nod my head and he smiles. "Great. Well, I have to go meet Cream because I think it's almost 12."
"I'll come with." I say and we both quickly rush out of my room, and we walk to the medical room and we both saw Cream and Silver standing in there.
"You got it!" Silver says and Cream holds a bottle of herbs in water and then she sees us.
"Hey." Sonic waves and I do too.
I watch them talk and I almost think about telling them about Axel's decision of leaving.
"Leaving Asendel… why? To find himself… "I stood there in my puddle of thoughts and then I walked of the medical room and ran down the hall, down the stairs, and then I just started to run.
"Princess?" says one of my female royal guards running after me and I speed up. "Princess, please wait!"
"I have to find Axel!" I yell and my guard caught up to me and I look at her to see she didn't have her uniform on and was probably in the process of going home but because of my random actions she was back on the clock.
"I heard he was leaving." She says and I continued to run. "Princess- "
"Yes, Coe." I say to the light blue-haired hedgehog, and she grabbed my hand.
"I can find him. Get on my back." She says and I hop on, and she earth bends across the town. We travel to the front of it, and I see Axel talking to a guard and then he felt the rumbling and saw me and Coe.
Coe let me down and I charge to Axel who was looking puzzled.
"Amy- "
I hug him tightly and then I looked at his face.
"Be safe." I say and he smiled sadly and hugged me back.
"I will- "
"I mean it!" I say and I stop hugging him." It's a lot different out there than you think… the people… the towns that aren't connected to ours or the fire kingdom… they are angry and will do anything to protect themselves and others. And I need you to understand that and be safe."
"I will be." He says and pats my hair. "You stay safe for me too. I will not be far but I won't be in Asendel so I will keep an eye out on it. I can feel the earth, so Asendel protection is on the top of my list."
"Okay…" I say sadly and we hug once more. "I love you, okay? Don't get hurt."
"I love you too."
Axel and Coe said their goodbyes as well and we watched him leave the castle and walk into the woods and trees.
"Ready to go back?" Coe asks and I nod my head and instead of rushing back home. I took my time and walked through my kingdom.
It was in early bright morning, and everyone was either getting ready for school, work, or to do their daily chores to keep the kingdom running.
I slow my walk down as I watch some citizens place flowers around my mother's statue. She stood tall and strong as she looked over Asendel and then I continued my walk back through the palace.
"Since Axel left… and everything has happened. I have to remind myself to live up to my mother saw what I could become one day. A true Queen. Someone to protect their home
"Good morning, Princess!" A baker named Buck approached me and I felt caught off guard because it had been a moment since any citizen had approached since I pretended to escape.
"Good morning, Buck." I say and I watch him dust powdered sugar on a pastry. "Um… how are you?"
"Well! Even better that you are around. We missed you here." He says and I nod my head.
"I missed it here too." I say and then he offers me the pastry and I take a small bite. The taste makes me smile and the Buck looked more than pleased by my reaction.
"It's a new recipe! Raspberry cheese danish!"
"It's amazing. Buck. Is there anything you can't do?" I say and he laughs and offers Coe one too.
I turn my head to see some citizens looking over where I was, and a few took their gaze away, but some still lingered in curiosity.
"Good afternoon, everyone." I say loudly and the ones looking at me and the ones who didn't notice I was there turn their head and see me.
"How are you all? Is there anything I missed on? Or anyway I could help you today." I ask and Coe follows me as well.
It was quiet for one moment but then a kid ran up to me and pointed at their untied shoes. "C-Could you teach me?"
"Yes!" I say and I sit on the brick floor, and I show them slowly and then some more towns folks surround me as I teach the child.
"Princess." Says a woman and I look from teaching the child and the child runs off from being easily distracted.
"Yes?"
"I think the pipes are frozen… our water pressure has been getting slower since the snow."
"Hm? Tank hasn't taken a look at it?" I ask and I follow her, and more people were following me too as I walk through town, and I walk to the pipes, and I already see Tank trying to understand what was going on.
"Hey Tank!" I yell before I get there, and he folds his arm and leans on the wall next to the pipes that control the water flow.
"Hey." He says in a different tone, and I smile through it.
"People were complaining about the water pressure… is everything going, okay?"
"It's frozen and the fire benders are too afraid to go in the water to warm up it because it's COLD!" Tank yelled at his home that was the closest to the pipes and they had been taking care of it for years.
"What was that?!" His brother appears from home as well and he charges up fire with his fist and then sneezes and fire disappears. "I tried to clear the pipes last time, but it gave me a cold!"
"How does a fire bender catch colds!" He argues back and I laugh and walk in between them.
"IT's fine. I will do it. And yes, fire benders can catch colds." I say and I dive into the water while water bending the water away from me until I got to the pipe, and I place my hand on it. I warm the pipe up with my fire and then the suction starts to flow smooth, and I swim back out, and they start clapping.
"The queen lives through you!" says a citizen and I smile at that comment.
"Can we see your dual powers?" Asked an older man and they all started to become curious.
"Sure… I'm not a pro at fire bending yet but… it looks like my mom's flame." I say and I shoot a fire blast in the air and then I water bend to show them that the rumors of me having two abilities was true.
"Wow…" says someone and I smile.
"Different just like your mother." Tank pats my back hard and I laugh.
"Yes." Says the woman who brought up the problem about the pipes. "Different is what Asendel is… It's what the queen taught us so… whatever the Princess decides I am fully behind it."
"Me too!" Coe adds in and then others were starting to say positive remarks about me as well and I start to tear up as they talk about the future and what good it could bring.
"Mother always knew I was going to change the world."
"Princess!" yelled someone and I turn around. "Could we get you to be a model for our art class! It would only be a moment."
"S-sure." I say and I get swept away again by my people and I wouldn't want it any other way.
Hours later
After helping out a lot of citizens with small tasks and taking in notes about what needed care in the village. I went back to my castle and I surprising saw the others out on the stairs and Sonic and Tails were talking to each other while the others watched, and I walked up to them with my presence getting spotted by Maria who had on jackets and bags.
"There she is." Maria says and I looked at the air benders and Maria and wondered why they were dressed like they were about go somewhere.
"Hey! We were thinking about heading back home since the prince is awake now."
"Oh really?! So soon?" I ask and hug Silver as he hugged me.
"Yeah, we have to protect them as well." Silver says and I sigh and hold him a bit longer.
"That was fast. Just when Shadow was become my best friend." I say and let Silver go and everyone laughs but Shadow and he starts to blush, and I walk over to Maria and hug her as well.
"Watch over Cass? I never cared for him but… he is still a friend of mine." Maria says.
"I will. Watch over Shadow too." I wink at her and Shadow was frowning at me this time and then I walked to Shadow with my arms out and he turns away from. "Hey! That's not friendly like!"
"I don't give a damn- "
Maria earth bends and spins Shadow and around makes him trip into me and I hug Shadow tightly and he pats my back while sighing hard and I let him go.
"I'm glad your powers came back." I say.
"Yeah… thanks for the healing." He says lowly and I laugh then the others were saying their goodbyes and I notice Blaze was still sitting on the steps and I walk to her but then Silver pats my arm and passes me, and I follow behind slowly.
"I'm leaving." Silver says and Blaze smiles and stands up.
"Just when I was so close to learning all of your secrets about flying and fighting." She says and he laughs.
"You can always come by, and I can teach you. Or I can do the same here." He says and Blaze laughs and then it got quiet between them two and Blaze stood up and hugged him and he did the same and then I catch Blaze's eye.
"Silver." Blaze says his name and Silver waits for her to speak. "… You look like you need p-protection on the way back home."
"Hm? No. I have two aggressive benders with me. I am sure I will be fine." Silver laughs and Blaze did too but then blushed.
"Well… maybe I could- ya know… watch Maria on the way there. To make sure she doesn't do anything."
"I don't think she will. Don't worry." He adds and Blaze heats up and then she runs up the stairs to the castle and comes back with a bag.
"I'm coming with you!" she says and even I was confused as she walked over to Shadow, and he had heard the news from afar.
"No, she isn't." Shadow adds Blaze stands by him.
"I am."
"No, you are not. We already have one person, and I am not taking any more refugees or dangerous benders into our home." Shadow says and Sonic laughed.
"Scared of fire?" he joked, and a harsh breeze blew past all of us, and Silver stopped Shadow from throw Sonic across the kingdom and then he clapped his hand.
"No! I think that's a great idea! Blaze and Maria would be great help. Maria can help us fix the land and Blaze can supply us with whatever fire can do! And… I think we should follow Asendel and get a head start with the world changing."
Shadow clenched his fist and Blaze smiles.
"I can. Plus, since I am out of a job and… I have no home. It would… be nice to start over somewhere." Blaze adds and Shadow stopped talking and started to walk away and Maria follows him but then she stops.
"We will see you soon!" Maria yelled and ran after Shadow and then Silver grabbed Blaze's bag for her and looked at the fire benders.
"Blaze will be safe with us." He says and then Blaze turns to them and runs over to the fire benders and they all hug each other.
"Be safe, Blaze." Knuckles says and Blaze laughs.
"That might be the nicest thing you have said to me." Blaze added and then she hugged Tails.
"If you need anything, just come back." He says and Blaze nods her head and then Sonic picked her up and hugged her tightly. He set her down and Blaze looked at him.
"I'm proud of you for doing what you want to do… instead of doing it for me all the time. Have a great time and learn about yourself out there. Okay?"
Blaze eyes watered up and she nods her head and then she punches him lightly in the stomach.
"Whatever. Just don't screw up your chances again with the Princess." She says and flips her ponytail and walks past me.
"Train every day and watch over him please." Blaze says and it felt like she was passing over the responsibility of her friends while she was gone.
"Will do."
We all wave goodbye to them and they fly out of the kingdom instead of walking out of it and then I turn away from the sky and look at everyone that was left.
"It's getting quieter now." I say and Cream sits on the stairs and sighs heavily.
"Slightly a relief that things are calming down." She sighs and then I join her, and the rest do too.
"Yes. Now I can focus on getting better as a Princess." I joke and they laugh and then Sonic touches my hand and I look at him as he takes it.
"We can all focus on getting better now." He says. "Because soon… we are going to have to deal with the fire kingdom next. They still need some saving too."
"That's true." Knuckles says worriedly and even Tails was starring ahead like they were looking at their lost kingdom and I stand up with the wind blowing past my hair. Flames grew in my body, and I walked to where they all could see me.
"And we will save them. Until everyone is equal."
Yesssssss book 2 is finally over. This took me forever to write and…. No, it is not finished yet, but I am very proud of myself to completing it like I said I would.
Book 3i s going to be included in this story and it is not going to be as long, but I do want to dive into a little bit more into the world I created, and I want my first story to be as perfect as it can be.
I am going to take a super small break to work on some things and… a few chapters of the Suffering my love will reappear later but until then.
