Red Light, Green Light

2. Chapter 2

Welcome back, everyone. This chapter will feature Jackson's participation in the Games themselves.

Chapter 2- Keep Your Friends Close, Enemies Closer

Unknown location

"Ugh, my head."

Jackson groaned as he woke up, a splitting headache hitting his head like a jackhammer.

He looked down at himself. He was in a green jumpsuit with the number '144' on it. Craning his neck, he turned to see 459 other people all in a large room.

"The fuck?" he muttered.

In a massive arena, there were two masked guards in red outfits holding guns. A large plastic doll stood at the end of the arena, it's back against a tree.

BOOM!

The green doors behind everyone closed. Jackson and everyone else turned with an alarmed look.

"Oh, this can't be good." He said with wide eyes.

He turned to see a middle-aged man with greying hair looking confused.

"Do you know what's going on?" Jackson asked.

"No idea." The man shook his head.

"Red Light, Green Light about to begin." The doll said in an automated voice, slowly rotating until its back was to everyone.

A screen switched on, displaying a 5-minute countdown.

"Holy hell!" Jackson said, confused out of his own mind. What the hell was even this?

The doll began singing and Jackson's eyes narrowed.

"What should we do?" the man next to him asked.

"Who gives a shit, just go!" someone else yelled, beginning to run forward.

The doll stopped singing and the two players in front froze. The doll spun it's head around, narrowing at them.

BANG!

A gunshot rang out. Jackson's eyes widened. The blonde man in front dropped to the ground, down.

"What the…" Jackson trailed off.

The doll turned around and began singing. The player behind him walked forward until he reached the corpse.

The blonde man coughed some blood and the man paled. He began backing up slowly as the doll turned its head around again.

Realizing what was happening, he began sprinting back, only to be hit with a bullet that sent him down as well.

Blood sprayed onto a woman's face, coating it red.

"AHHH!" she screeched loudly.

Yelling in panic, everyone turned and began running backwards, the gun poking from the wall mowing them down like wheat in a field.

Jackson tripped over a dead body and fell down, backing up. The man next to him from earlier grabbed him as everyone froze.

"No, no!" Jackson muttered.

The doll began singing again. As fast as possible, everyone scrambled and began running, one woman yanking another man's hair, sending him down. Faster than before, the doll spun, and everyone froze.

The air was so thick with tension you could feel it and Jackson waited with bated breath.

The doll turned and everyone sprinted again. As the man from earlier tripped over someone's arm, Jackson gripped him by the back of his uniform.

He gritted his teeth, using all of his strength to hold his newfound friend back, adrenaline coursing through his veins.

The doll turned around again and without a word being spoken, the man and Jackson charged forward.

The countdown only had five second left and Jackson roared, using all of his available strength and speed to charge.

Jackson leapt, cannoning himself over the finish line. He rolled for a few paces, laying on his back.

He took deep breaths, trying to regain his lost strength.

"You saved me," the man said. "Thank you. I am Seong Gi-Hun."

"Lee Jackson." He replied, using the Korean way, which was saying the last name first.

Seoul, same time

Juni hummed as she exited the bar, having said goodbye to her friends. As she walked down the street, she saw two people at the end of it. Stopping, she slowly turned to see almost a dozen others coming behind her.

"Oh n-" she was about to say when someone wrapped a black bag around her head. Two other people surged forward, grabbing her legs as they dragged her to a black van.

The entire time, Juni kicked and struggled as she was thrown into the back of the van. The three people climbed in as the van drove off into the middle of the night.

And done. So the first game is done, but Juni has been kidnapped for a mysterious reason, which shall be revealed in a future chapter.

This story won't be long, only around 5 or 6 chapters.
