Arno's extended absences were making her realize how much his presence meant to her. Timothee had said he was helping to pay back the Assassins for her rescue. She was humbled she had meant so much to the Templar Order. It felt undeserved, but she would do her damnedest to prove herself wrong. For now, though, they were not giving her the opportunity. Memories of her face and deeds were too fresh in the minds of Parisians. And their hatred was fresh in hers.

Denis and Martin had been out quite often too, trying to keep tabs on the enemy. Her domestic workload was, therefore, much greater than before, but she had managed to earn herself a brief break. She sipped red wine on the couch of the main chamber.

The front door opened. Arno? To her disappointment, it was Denis.

Timothee approached him. "Denis, how did the meeting go?"

"He doesn't know much, I don't think he'll be very useful," Denis replied.

Denis was holding two pieces of paper. He walked briskly in her direction and stopped just before passing her.

"You wanted to know what's going on in the city, favori? Here, take these," he said, dropping two leaflets by the end table.

"Merci, Denis," she said as he walked off. Despite his brusque demeanor, it was the first time he recalled him sparing a thought for her.

She grabbed the top one first.

QUEEN MEETS THE GUILLOTINE

Marie Antoinette, the unpopular queen from Austria long suspected of poisonously manipulating her husband, met her end at noon of Sunday, October 16th, on charges of depletion of the National Treasury, attempting to kindle reactionary rebellions, and corresponding with the nation's enemies. She was executed by guillotine in front of a crowd of thousands at the Place de la Révolution, having been escorted from her captivity in the Concierge. She wore a plain white dress in memory of her husband. She accepted her deaths with grace and dignity, though only a minority in Paris will mourn her passing.

Hers has been one of many executions carried out against the enemies of the Revolution in recent months. Hers, however, contains a symbolic power superseded only by the execution of her husband. Foreign powers are certain to be enraged!

The fate of other members of the royalty remains ambiguous. The treatment of Marie Antoinette's sister in law, Madame Élisabeth, is a contentious issue among the National Convention. She faces charges of assisting with the Royal Flight to Varennes, financing France's enemies abroad, and conspiring with the enemies of France at home and abroad. It is yet to be seen if she was face the fate of the Queen.

It was strange, there was a time she thought the fight against the aristocracy was the meaning of her life. But now, after meeting them personally, after seeing the evil of the Illuminati's Paris, it seemed a sad death. More so because she expected the charges, at least the latter two, were fabricated.

She looked at the second newsletter:

NATIONAL CONVENTION ADOPTS NEW REPUBLICAN CALENDAR, CITIZENS ARE EXPECTED TO FOLLOW

The Gregorian calendar is to be no more in the state of France, proclaims the National Convention. We live now in Year I of a new era, Year 0 beginning in what was formerly known as September 22nd, 1792.

Tremendous changes are coming to France and how we record and schedule our time. Weeks hence forth will be ten days long, comprising a third of each month. The tenth day shall be a new day of rest, parting with Christian mythos of a six day creation of the world.

Minutes and hours are also to be restructured around multiples of ten. Twelve months shall remain in a year, but have been renamed. Vendémiaire shall be the first months of the year, followed by Brumaire, Frimaire, Nivôse, Pluviôse, Ventôse, Germinal, Floréal, Prairial, Messidor, Thermidor, and Fructidor.

This was unbelievable. Their audacity was surreal. Over a thousands of years of Christian culture, all unraveling in a couple of years.

She thought back to the tales of the Old Man on the Mountain, the arrogant traitor who sought to remake the world's religion, until he met the blade of Altair Ibn-La'had. Was this his reincarnation?
