Virgil wasn't sure how it had happened.
Somehow he was standing on a girder that was hanging over a cliff. Alone. Or rather, Gordon was on Two helping the injured while Alan flew them back to safe ground. Which left Virgil in the rubble of the large hotel that had half-collapsed off the cliff.
And then Havoc had appeared. She'd managed to materialise in front of him, causing him to step backwards…and now here he was.
Standing on an iron girder hanging over a cliff.
Havoc's manic laughter floated away over the wind and she stepped forward. Virgil stepped back. She stepped forward and he stepped back. The girder groaned. Havoc's grin got wider.
Suddenly Virgil was diving forward, grasping the girder with one claw and the other…the other was firm but carefully holding his brother's wrist. He had no idea where Scott had come from, but he had cannoned into Havoc and both had gone over the edge.
Scott was dangling from the claw, but his other hand was holding firmly onto Havoc's arm. She looked livid, but as Virgil clung on Scott began to haul her up and she began to climb over his brother until she had grasped the claw where it was clamped around Scott's wrist.
As she got a firm grip on the claw she looked up at Virgil, and he did not like the grin she flashed him. Before he could shout to Scott, Havoc had activated her taser glove and pressed it into Scott's neck.
Virgil felt Scott jolt and he watched as his brother fell unconscious,, but the unforeseen happened and the shock also ran up his exosuit, causing the suit to fail and the claw to open, loosening Havoc's hold.
There was nothing he could do as he watched Scott and Havoc fall down the cliff.
