"Cool, secret underground military base. Unless you're secretly plotting the over throw of the government or take over the world kind of thing. Then, not cool." The young man, Xander? Was that what he'd said his name was? O'Neill thought.
"Xander, when I agreed to go road tripping through the multiverse with you I didn't expect to end up in secret, underground military bases. They better not try to experiment on us." The young woman, Cordelia was it? glared at O'Neill. "Because I'm already pissed off, you really should avoid making me more pissed off."
"But pissing you off is fun." Xander objected. "And watching you make that guy who grabbed your butt wet his pants was fun too. Pity more guys don't appreciate your temper."
"Excuse me." O'Neill said. "You said you're from another reality?"
"Yep, we're sort of on a post graduation tour of the multiverse. Call it a present from our parents. They want us to grow up a little before we start the next stage of our lives. And hey, a few decades or even centuries exploring the multiverse sounds like a fun way to spend some time with my girl, so why not?"
"Decades? Centuries? How old are you?" Daniel asked.
"We're about nineteen and half." Xander told him.
"And you expect to live for centuries?" Major Carter asked.
"We're immortal. We've stopped aging. It'll be a long time before our people consider us adults."
"I take it, despite appearances, you're not human?" O'Neill asked.
"Technically speaking you could say we're both half human." Xander told him.
"Colonel O'Neill, what's going on?" General Hammond asked.
"We picked up some hitchhikers, sir. They were escaping from some Gou'ald."
"Aphrodite is a Queen, General Hammond. The rare Gou'ald that can breed more Gou'ald." Teal'C informed him.
"Oh gods, is that why she wanted to have sex with me? To make more snakes? Ooh!" Xander said, gagging.
"How did you escape from her?" Teal'C asked. "The Queens use nish'ta to make their chosen mates receptive."
"What's nish'ta?" Xander asked.
"Pink mist that they breathe on you." Daniel told him, quezily remembering when it was used on him.
"Oh that stuff. She seems surprised it didn't work on me. Is it just meant to work on humans? Because I'm noticing a theme. Possessing a human, the ones with the larva in their bellies, etc."
"They do prefer human hosts." Daniel said. "So they may have formulated it specifically for humans. If you're not entirely human, the formulation might not work or work as well."
"You're still a demon magnet." Cordelia accused.
"It's not my fault! That giant preying mantis disguised to look like a hot teacher left her pheromones on me. I can't get rid of the damn stuff!"
"It's your fault for falling for her tricks."
"It's the equivalent of that nish'ta stuff. I wasn't immune to it. And we weren't together then, so you can't be mad at me for falling for the hot teacher gimmick."
"I can too, if I want to!" The temperature in the usually cool cement lined room seem to be rising as the young couple argued and then suddenly Xander grabbed Cordelia and started kissing her. They looked like they weren't planning to come up for air anytime soon. After a few minutes of kissing and not noticing people staring at them, they slowly stopped.
"Oh that's better." Cordelia said. "I was about to combust."
"Really. You don't say." O'Neill was starting to wonder if someone had drugged his food. Maybe they should inspect the food in the cafeteria. Nah, better not to examine it too closely.
"Always happy to help, my Queen."
"Queen?" O'Neill asked.
"Yep, she's my Queen. Biggest reason why that snakehead didn't stand a chance. Well, that and the fact that she's possessing that woman. I seriously doubt the human wants to be sharing headspace with the snake."
"Most don't."
"SG 1, report to the infirmary for your post mission check and take our guests with you."
"Since threatening to kill military officers would just get me arrested, I'll settle for saying, if you try to experiment on us, we will defend ourselves. It's an issue that's come up before. Curious humans and all." Xander was deadly serious now and very few of the people who heard him say it, doubted he wasn't perfectly capable of carrying out that threat.
"Well, we're definitely curious, but we try to avoid stuff like that. We've been experimented on ourselves. It's not something we'd willingly inflict on someone else." O'Neill assured them "And given that telekinetic ability I saw you use on the planet, I'm sure defending yourself wouldn't be difficult."
"Bear in mind, Colonel, I wasn't trying to kill them. If I was, they'd be dead." Again, those that heard him, believed him.
"You mentioned a control device being damaged." Major Carter said. "What does it control?"
"It keeps us anchored to the mirror back in our reality and allows us to move to a new reality."
"Mirror? Quantum Mirror? You're using a Quantum Mirror to travel through realities? But you lose the connection every time you move to a new reality!"
"Only if you travel through another mirror. Multiple mirrors are unnecessary. You don't even need one at the exit point. The control device keeps us connected to the one in our home reality. Where we land is random, but the connection remains steady." Xander assured her.
"Sir, in two seconds he's just completely turned my understanding of the Quantum Mirror to gravy." Major Carter said dazedly.
"I don't think I've ever seen that look on her face before." O'Neill commented.
"What look?" Xander asked.
"Complete confusion. She's our mega brain. Please tell me you didn't break her."
"I'll make it up to her by letting her have a peak at the control device."
"There's her normal look." O'Neill happily pointed out.
"How do you describe that look, sir?" Xander asked.
"Kid in a candy store."
