Heinz was staring at his suitcase. He was packing because he was going to his hometown after a very long time; if it were for him, he rather not go back, he'd rather ever come back to the place of his traumatic childhood, but his daughter, Vanessa, insisted she go, as she thought that he just couldn't hold a grudge against her grandparents, since that was along time ago and they've probably changed; he really doubted that, but she probably could be right. After a long, he eventually continued packing his clothing, as his daughter might call him anytime to see if he was ready, and fear that she might get annoyed that he wasn't.
The main reason for the trip was because it was his parents' 25th anniversary, which was a really important festivity for his clan, and they couldn't leave anyone out; in fact, it was his younger brother Roger who sent the invitation to him, plane tickets included, which led Doofenshmirtz to think that he probably has been too harsh towards his brother, especially considering that he spend part of his city's funds to make a replica of a painting he made. Sadly, he accidentally ruined the replica long ago.
Finally, he finished packing everything that he needed for his visit. Still, he wished that he could just stay in the Tri-state Area making his evil plans, mainly because it always brought his arch-nemesis, Perry the Platypus, whom he felt was practically one of the two reasons, the other one being his daughter, that he was practically still living; yeah, that green-blue platypus may ruin his plans, but he actually enjoyed to a certain extend their confrontations. He even had to admit to himself that he was going to miss him while he was away.
Three days later, Heinz is seeing himself boarding the airplane with his daughter, all while he was trembling in nervousness and sweating. At last, he finally arrived at his seat, where he fastened his seatbelt. At that moment, he suddenly had a memory from his childhood…
He could see himself, once again a child, late at night dressed as garden gnome in the rain. He had begged his father to let him go to bed, as he was tired, but was instead answered with a huge beating with the broom, all while his mother watched, who unsurprisingly did nothing to stop his father. So, not only was he tired, but he was also suffering a lot of pain and he was wet, and he was sure that he would catch a cold. Eventually, he saw something moving in the dark… it was a great black wolf. He had to stand still, fearing the wolf might come nearby, and he had to prevent the animal from entering the house; surely, the wolf came nearby, but he first sniffed him, and next thing he knew, he was about to be attacked by the thing, all while he was yelling for help. Finally, the attack stopped, and the wolf finally left, but he was left, entirely scarred and bleeding. He was heavily panting, with him having his vision blurry, but still, he attempted to stand up, just as many people started opening their doors, one of them being his father, who slowly walked towards him, and when he was right in front of him, he opened his mouth.
"Dad, are you okay?" said his daughter Vanessa, "The flight attendant is giving the flight indications".
That was enough to snap him back into the present; he first stared around him, seeing some of the other passengers pay attention to the flight attendant, to which he also proceeded to do. A few moments later, the plane finally took off.
While in the air, Heinz couldn't stop staring at the window besides him, watching the waves of the Atlantic Ocean move. He really was dreading coming back to Drusselstein, or in reality, he was actually fearing having to see his parents, those cruel and cold-hearted beasts, again, knowing that they would have nothing but disdain in their eyes upon seeing their son, especially his father, even though he tried to remedy his relationship with him by giving him the gnome he had repossess as gift for Father's Day, which sadly broke upon his arrival, and even worst, Roger had already given him another one that made espressos. He didn't even want to start thinking about his mother, whom he felt was a hypocrite; she always preferred Roger over him, but yet she wanted them to spend more time together.
After a while, he turned over to see his daughter Vanessa calmly texting on her phone to one of her friends. "Ahh, they just grow up so fast" he thought to himself. Ever since she was born, he wanted to give her the childhood that he was denied.
Finally, they arrived at the Gimmelshtump International Airport, as it was considered a pretty important city. As they were leaving the airplane, Heinz's dread just grew larger and larger; he didn't know if his parents were going to be happy to see him after a long time, but maybe Vanessa was right and they indeed changed, but he was going to see that in two days.
