Summary: Shadow The Hedgehog leaves his world behind crosses through time and space all the way to the EVA verse merging his soul with Shinji Ikari as an infant. Now Shinji battles the angels and struggles to control his powers piece together his dreams and try to discover who and what he really is

Chapter Six
Marika stood with her arms folded, a stern but curious expression on her face, as she looked expectantly at her young tenant.
Feeling somewhat sheepish, Shinji sighed and said
"Well... I was out for a quiet night stroll when I saw this shop, you know, still opened so I... um... decided to... look around?" he shrugged, feeling annoyed with himself for letting himself be affected by the situation. More than once he caught himself staring rather pointedly at the object of his unbearable curiosity. He couldn't see it clearly, but he could tell it was white with a red outline. In fact it kind of looked like sho-
"Uh-huh" - Marika's voice non-committal as she covered up the counter with a large cloth, obscuring the said object.
It was as if some invisible grip on his mind finally loosened. Confused, Shinji shook his head and ran his hand through his hair. With his mind again clear, all traces of the previous anxiety were gone.
Mere moments later, they were outside.
"So this is where you work, h-uh?" - Shinji asked, as Marika was double-checking the locks.
"I don't just work here" - Marika replied, as she headed towards the door - "I own the place"

( Next Day )
After school, before Shinji could go visit Marika at her shop - and finally find out what it was that captivated his attention the previous night -, Rei came and told him that there was an emergency situation: a new angel has been reported; and just like that, he was dragged off to Nerv.
From there it had gone from bad to worse: Shinji was loaded up in Unit 01 and shot up to meet the angel head on, getting hit square in the chest for his trouble. After nearly being boiled alive, the loss of consciousness was a welcome relief.
Shadow , stood with two shining emeralds in his hand after getting them before the invading aliens.
' Now that was SWEET , Shadow ' commented the blue hedghog
Shadow turned to him with usual look and replied
' Yeah , well I'm not here to save you ' .said Shadow putting the emeralds behind him
' Thought you might say something like that, how about a little friendy competition '. suggested the blue hedgehog
'Don't waste my time ' said Shadow folding his arms
Shinji , woke up hours later in an infirmary trying to remember what happened. Then he remebered Misato had stupidly sent him up head on to meet the angel head on and him lying in bed was the end result .
" I'll make that thing pay for this '.Shinji darkly thought
Oh good, I'm starving" - Shinji sat up as to reach for the food, when he noticed the breeziness in the lower part of his body. One downward look had him hastily pulling up the bed sheet.
Ignoring his discomfort, Rei handed him the food and laid a pack of fresh clothes onto his bed.
"So what does that crazy woman have planned" - Shinji spoke between mouthfuls. Rei's explanation involving giant sniper rifles, special shields, and draining the whole of Japan for every Kilowatt it was worth had him almost choking in surprise.
Are you afraid?"
"No , I don't think so" - Shinji replied after some thought
"Why do you fight?"
'What is this, 20 questions or something ?...' - "... Truthfully, I don't think I have a choice"

Both Evas stood in postion as the angel moved itself closer into firing range. The tension was so thick it could be cut with a knife. Shinji held Unit 01 firmly in place as it steadied the rifle , into postion to shoot the angel.
"( The angel is moving into range , so get ready to fire )" .called Misato
Shinji took a few steadying breaths and concentrated on the task at hand. In hindsight, what with the computer doing all the actual targeting, he felt like a glorified gun mount.
Any semblance of a surprise attack was out of the window as soon as the angel was in range; somehow it detected Unit 01 and immediately charged its beam to fire. Shield raised, Unit 00 took up a stance; it was now the only thing standing between them and total annhialation. The angel took aim and fired, the full force of the hit all but pushing Unit 00 back. The shield held, but only barely: mere moments passed before it started to melt; in less than 3 seconds almost half of it was lost. Just then, a second beam emanated from behind Unit 00, heading towards the angel with pinpoint accuracy. The beam penetrated the angel's AT Field, blowing a small hole directly into the bulk.
Before he knew it, Shinji was out of the Eva, running towards Unit 00. Not caring about the intense heat, Shinji gripped the hatch door tightly and all but ripped the whole thing off like a lid on a jar. Under normal circumstances, he would be amazed at being capable of such a feat, but at that moment, his mind was focused on rescuing his fellow pilot, who risked her life in order to give him the window of opportunity he so desperately needed to take their enemy down.

(the next day )
Shinji got up the next day with the events of previous night in the forefront of his thoughts. In fact, he planned to go visit Rei later to make sure she was alright. But first he had someone else to pay a visit to first
"Marika? You in here?" - called Shinji as he walked into the shop. He did not see her anywhere.
His idle gaze fell upon the counter and upon it he saw the very object that set his mind ablaze with curiosity so. Seeing it in full for the first time, Shinji pondered the reason behind the intensity of the feeling: it was a black metal container, with a red/white trim. In fact it looked like an overly elaborate shoe-box. Before he knew it, his fingers were on the locks on the side.
'I'm settling this Right now!'

End Notes: I know promised Hover/Skate shoes at the end of this chapter but at the wise counsel of Popkov Shinji/Shadow will most likely be seen speeding around in them after he discovers the ultimate power and ...leaves Misato in the dust again .
