Part 1: White Clouds
Universe 7
An explosion rocked the area, as the birds had scattered after being startled by the loud noises. The source of that explosion came from Byleth and Flayn as they went rocketing towards one another, and clashed together as Flayn tried throwing a punch but Byleth dodged it and kicked her in the face.
"Come on Flayn! You need to focus!"
She then soared towards the green haired girl and charged up a Ki blast before firing multiple ones towards the ground as Flayn kept dodging and not letting any of them hit her and she held out her hands, to catch Byleth's fists head on.
Only for them to pass through and she realised. It was an after image! She was tricked! And before she could react, she turned to see Byleth flying over again ready to strike.
"You have to try harder, Flayn!"
Without thinking, Flayn took in a deep breath and blew hard. And to Byleth's shock, a torrent of green flames shot out of her mouth as it hit the Mercenary head on and Flayn gasped loudly once she realised what she had done and started running towards her frantically calling out her name as Byleth fell to the ground.
"Professor! I'm so sorry! Are you okay?!"
Byleth was singed and was staring at the sky with a completely bewildered look before slowly looking at her. "Flayn… how did you do that?"
But Flayn was panicking and helping her up. "Please don't tell anyone! Please!"
"But Flayn-"
"Promise me you won't tell anyone!"
She could see the full on panicked look in Flayn's eyes and slowly sighed. Add that to the list of struggles. "Okay. That's enough for today, Flayn. Come on, we better get back to the Monastery."
Flayn smiled brightly once she heard that. But Byleth was busy thinking to herself. It had been a few days since she started teaching the girl before her, as well as getting Hilda up to speed too. But she chose to focus on Flayn for now because she knew something was wrong. For all the Ki she had sensed, Byleth could tell she was holding back. Like she was scared to go all out. And then this happened.
This wasn't her full potential, Byleth knew that to be the case. So what could possibly be making her refuse to go all out? Was it fear? Or was it too much power to properly control? She never got any answers as Flayn would just clam up whenever she asked. But perhaps it was best to break down this mental barrier first to help her reach her full potential.
"You did great today Flayn." Byleth said as they started walking and talking once they flew back to the Monastery. "I feel like you are opening up more and more. But I understand you are scared of showing your full power. I may not understand why, but we will go at your own pace."
Flayn slowly nodded and played with the belt of her new gi as if her almost having a breakdown didn't happen. It was a different design from the other students since she didn't really have a house to assign herself to. So Byleth opted to give her green to match her hair. Either way, she did suit it.
"Thank you Professor. It may be a while before I am ready, but with you teaching me, I feel myself growing more confident by the day."
The sun was now setting down and the stars were out as Flayn looked up, smiling. "The stars are beautiful, aren't they Professor? Like little diamonds in the sky."
They then saw Edelgard, Dimitri and Claude finishing up training before calling it a night. Dimitri smiled and waved at them both.
"Good evening, you two. A beautiful one to be precise."
"Oh yes! I was just saying to Professor Byleth that the stars look beautiful tonight!"
They all smiled and looked up into the sky before Edelgard spoke up. "I have been wondering, Professor. Are you aware of one of the theories of the Goddess? That she in fact came from the stars?"
"I think you've been reading the children's books in the library, Edelgard." Dimitri retorted but Claude piped in.
"No, I've heard that theory too. Of course, it is just a theory after all. Not much evidence to support it, but then again, would explain her amazing power."
Flayn was strangely quiet while listening to them and just kept staring up into the sky before speaking. "I do wonder if there is life out there. In the stars. If there is truly more out there and we are not just alone."
Edelgard smiled a little, finding herself agreeing with her. "Yes, I wonder that myself. If the Goddess truly came from out there… could there be others? What do you think, Professor?"
The Mercenary just had a soft smile and nodded. "It would be nice if we weren't alone. If there were other potential friends out there. But perhaps it's best to get some shut eye now. It's been a long day."
Yawning a little, Flayn nodded. "That sounds wonderful."
Edelgard was wanting to talk more but found a yawn escaping her too. "Perhaps you are right. I'm feeling tired myself."
Byleth smiled and waved everyone goodnight before setting off to her bed for the night as Sothis was next to her and looked up into the sky.
'More allies… I wonder that myself…'
Outside of the mortal realm, a young figure was busy staring into a crystal ball, studying every inch of the universe that he resided in. It was truly fascinating how he never got tired of looking at how much mortal life was around despite this being over a thousand times that he looked. He never truly understood just how vast the universe could be.
"Your tea, Master."
He blinked, being taken out of his own little headspace as his attendant came over with a nice cup of tea. He smiled gratefully and took it from the tea, smelling the aroma.
"Thank you Kibito, I appreciate it very much. I apologise if I was lost to the world, I was simply observing the universe."
Kibito nodded and stayed behind him with his arms behind his back after putting the tray on a nearby table. "And what are your thoughts? You're not planning on getting involved in any mortal affairs, are you, Supreme Kai?"
The Supreme Kai, also known by Shin, shook his head. "There's only one reason for me to be involved. And that very reason isn't a threat. Nobody knows where the egg is."
Shin put his cup down on the grass and stared at the crystal ball once more as Kibito made a face. "Why are you so intently staring at the universe now of all times?"
"Oh, it seems there is something brewing in the centre. Something big."
Kibito raised an eyebrow. "Will it pose a threat?"
"I'm not sure." Shin then smiled seeing a blue comet soar through the vastness of space. "But I see that it is already being taken care of."
A lone ball of blue light was sailing across the cosmos, as it crashed into rocks and blasted them away. If one saw this, they would think that it was merely a comet, but they would be mistaken. It was a giant ship. More specifically, an Observatory. As at the centre of it was a young woman.
Rosalina closed her eyes and slowly held her wand, channelling energy into it before opening them back up and pointing in the distance where a castle floated on its own.
"There is a warp field inside the castle!" She made platforms going towards the location and nodded.
"Go Mario! They're inside! Hurry!"
The man in front of her known as Mario nodded back and started making his way towards the castle with the help of the platforms she created. Rosalina let out a soft sigh once she saw Mario enter the castle. For now, she will assist whenever she can. To help him save not only his special one, but the whole universe. She formed platforms to help him navigate the treacherous terrain and her children formed Launch Stars to propel him even closer to his special one.
Once he got to the evil being known as Bowser, Rosalina sighed in relief. She wouldn't have to intervene. She has seen Marino's abilities and knows for a fact that he can handle this by himself.
But something caught Rosalina's eye that made her blood run cold. There was ruins of a spaceship, but it was completely different from the airships or flying saucers that the monster Bowser used. No, this was something that made her very nervous.
This ship had the insignia of the Frieza Force on it.
"What? What is the Frieza Force doing this far out in the universe?" Rosalina asked herself, more than familiar with the reputation of the late Emperor.
Of course she knew, there was a very slim minority of star systems that didn't at least know of the reputation of that monster. Though last she heard, Frieza had been defeated a couple of years ago. She didn't normally speak ill of the dead, but that monster deserved it. Especially the encounter she had with him.
"Why are you here?"
Rosalina was trying to put on a brave face as she had an unexpected visitor arrive on her Observatory. A being she was all too familiar with.
Frieza.
He was in his pod with his two henchmen Zarbon and Dodoria as he slowly looked around the Observatory. "You have picked up quite a reputation… Rosalina, is it?"
"…That is my name, yes."
"I see. Well, I have an empire to run so I shall get straight to the point. It appears that we have a conflict of interest."
She was on edge and looked behind to see the Lumas all shaking in fear with one by her side and she looked back at Frieza. "Which is?"
Frieza laughed a little and kept that same sadistic smile. "Oh, ho, ho, ho, ho! You are pretending to be oblivious, how cute! No, you know EXACTLY what it is. You like to watch over this universe and protect it and well, I like to see it under my complete control. So I'll make this simple…"
He raised a finger and pointed at her before firing a red beam of Ki which launched straight past her… and struck the Luma beside her. She watched in complete horror as the star child collapsed to the ground and she slowly fell to her knees and cradled the Luma as Frieza chuckled menacingly.
"Consider this an appetiser of what's to come if you interfere in my affairs. If I see you again, I'll come here and reduce your little space station to dust. Are we clear?"
Rosalina was completely silent, still trying to comprehend what just happened as Frieza smirked. "I'll take your silence as a yes. Pleasure doing business with you, Rosalina. Frieza Force! We're moving out!"
As the whole force made their way off the Observatory and departed for the stars, Rosalina felt tears brimming in her eyes as the rest of the Lumas cried for their fallen brother as it weakly touched her cheek before closing it's eyes and disintegrating into star dust. Rosalina stared at her hands which were covered in shiny dust… before covering her face and sobbing hard.
She blinked after recalling that memory and realised that she was crying. And she quickly wiped away her tears when she noticed one of the Lumas staring at her worried. "I'm fine, my children. He's gone now. We don't have to worry…"
That's when Rosalina suddenly remembered where she was and she closed her eyes sensing where Marios fight had taken him. He was done fighting Bowser and had taken the final Grand Star from his Galaxy Reactor. But that's not what concerned her now. It was that supergiant star that they had been fighting on that was starting to change and expand. If that went supernova, then at least 25 percent of the universe could be wiped out! And it was dangerously close to doing so. She had to step in!
She narrowed her eyes and focused energy into her wand once more. "My children… please… assist Mario! Save him and his special one!"
Thousands of balls of light started sailing towards the collapsing star as she watched her observatory break apart from the gravity of the star. She closed her eyes… and smiled to herself.
This wasn't the end. It was merely the beginning of a new cycle.
Shin frowned deeply watching the events unfold before him. "How troubling, that the universe almost took a major hit from a star of that magnitude. Though I have to thank that Rosalina for her quick thinking. It seems that her and her Lumas saved a major chunk of the southern side of things."
Kibito peered at the ball as a small portion of the universe looked completely different. Different galaxies were merged to become one. "You've been observing her for a while, Master? But she is just a mortal, what could be so important about her?"
"That is true, but she is one of many protectors of the universe." Shin replied. "She's the one I noticed the most just because of how fast she is able to travel thanks to that craft she has. It's funny, that Kai's cannot get involved in mortal affairs, but based on what I've seen from many inhabitants, there is no need for us to do that. Come my friend, sit down and observe with me. Where would you like to go?"
"Master, this isn't necessary-"
"Oh, but I insist! Please join me, Kibito."
Hesitating for a moment, the Kai Attendant sighed to himself before slowly kneeling down next to Shin. "Then… let's observe the Eastern part of the Universe."
"Very good, Kibito! Now let's see…"
On a random Frieza Force ship, two goons were staring up at something they found. "Raspberry, why did we bring this in? This will do no good in helping us bring the Force back to full fruition!"
"Yeah, but look at it!" Raspberry exclaimed, gesturing to the armour. It was yellow in colour with orange on the shoulder pads and it was equipped with a blaster in the hand section. A true technological display. "I've never seen armour like this before! We could rock this shit!"
"In what way?!" Blueberry yelled. "This type of armour ain't designed for us! How will we even be able to use it?!"
Raspberry was silent for a moment and just knocked on it with his knuckles, staring up at the blue visor. "It… looks cool?"
Blueberry just facepalmed and groaned loudly. "No matter. Perhaps we can sell it to someone. It is very versatile from the looks of it, so it should fetch a high price-"
That's when the alarms sounded and the two frantically looked around. "What the hell?! Are we being invaded? How?!"
"Never mind that, you idiot! Grab your blaster!"
They ran through the door and were stunned to see bodies littering the ground. Raspberry backed away utterly terrified. "T-That was our entire crew. Who killed them?!"
"Are the cameras on? Let's run to the security room!" Blueberry said, grabbing his arm and forcing him to move forward, despite Raspberry's protests.
"Oh, no way! I've seen these kinds of movies! This is horror movie 101! Let's just stay in the room where it's safe!"
"Oh, quit being a little bitch! Just come on!"
Unaware that behind the pair was a tall shadowy figure who eyed a card latched on Blueberry's side and their eyes narrowed before cocking a gun in their hands.
In the security room, Blueberry typed some commands onto the keyboard and brought up the footage from the last hour and the two saw nothing out of the ordinary. But then five minutes ago there was a massive bolt of electricity which fried the crew that were in the room and muffled shots sounding from everywhere. They tried flipping through the cameras but every single one of them were taken out at that point.
"We need to get out of here! Quick Raspberry we need to-"
A blast shot out and nailed Raspberry in the chest which sent a shock through his body, killing him and making him slump over the console unit. Blueberry turned around to see the figure standing there, gun in hand.
"W-W-Wait! Wait! We can work something out! What are you wanting? I'll do anything! I can help-"
BANG!
A bolt of electricity shocked him as he too fell to the ground dead as the figure stepped out of the shadows to reveal a woman with a stun gun in her hands. She wore a blue skin tight suit and had blonde hair in a ponytail along with blue cold eyes. She was known as Samus Aran, a bounty hunter. She slowly walked over to the body of Blueberry and yanked the card from his corpse.
"I'm wanting my suit back."
She looked at the stun gun she was holding and sighed. "At least this thing is finally useful. Thanks for the boost in the gun, little guy. They won't be causing us problems now."
A small yellow mouse creature ran out from the shadows and raised a paw, smiling. "Pikapi!"
Samus smiled slightly and offered a spot on her shoulder which the mouse creature gladly accepted as she scratched his cheek which he loved.
"Come on Pikachu. Let's get out of here, now that we have what we came for."
As they were walking through the ship, Samus couldn't help but think to herself which Pikachu caught onto as he tilted his head.
"Pika?"
Samus shook her head and scratched behind his ears. "Just thinking to myself. Why is the Frieza Force this far out of their own borders? I know Frieza kicked the bucket, so why are they out here?"
She then looked up to the display case that had her armour and made a face. "I don't like this… but I've got what I came for so let's make this quick. I'd rather avoid a headache from the Galactic Patrol."
But before she went to put in the access code, a rumble occurred through the ship as Samus struggled to keep her balance and looked out the window before cursing.
"Fuck… Space Pirates. How did they find us out here?"
"Pika!"
She turned around to see Pikachu pointing at the armour and his red cheeks were sparking with electricity. Samus smiled a little and nodded.
"You ready to fight, little guy? Then cover me if things go south, I'll join you in a quick second."
So Samus grabbed the armour and prepared to put it on while Pikachu stood guard at the door ready to electrocute anyone who comes in.
Soon enough, he saw dents appearing on the door before it burst open revealing strange crustacean looking creatures who saw Pikachu and charged towards him as the small creature was ready to electrocute it… until a blast struck it and sent it flying against the wall.
Pikachu turned around to see Samus now in her suit as he hopped on her shoulder again and she cocked the blaster and narrowed her eyes.
"Let's go."
"It seems the Galactic Patrol have lost their way nowadays if they are using Bounty Hunters." Kibito grunted. "I do not like their kind one bit. To only have a loyalty to coin is despicable."
"I wouldn't be so sure about that, my friend." Shin replied, looking at Samus fighting. "She may be a Bounty Hunter, but look at the way she cares for that creature by her side. This woman is capable of compassion, and it isn't just money that gets her through life."
"Why are you observing every minute detail in this universe?" Kibito asked. "Unless there are threats like Majin Buu, then you shouldn't concern yourself with these mortals."
"Because it's a way of me passing the time, Kibito." Shin replied. "All we are doing these days is watching out for anyone going near the egg of Majin Buu. But I suppose another reason I'm observing is because perhaps we could find some potential allies in the possible scenario that somebody tries to revive Majin Buu."
Kibito's eyes widened at that. "You truly think there are mortals strong enough to do that?"
"Not to defeat Majin Buu, no. But merely to prevent him from being revived. But from what we've seen so far, I'm not too sure. Rosalina is powerful, that much is certain. But to fight a foe like that would be too much for her. And that Samus woman wouldn't be able to help with that suit…"
That's when Shin snapped his fingers. "Oh, I know! Perhaps we can look at Skyworld! They may have assistance!"
"Master, surely you do not wish to get the Kai of Light involved? She has enough trouble as it is!"
"It doesn't hurt to see, my friend. Now let's take a look."
"PIT!"
In a realm cut off from mortal life, an Angel jumped in fright when a voice came echoing throughout the area he was currently in, which was the gardens where he was hiding something behind his back as a beautiful figure approached him. The Goddess of Light, Lady Palutena.
And she was looking down at him with her hands on her hips. "Pit. What are you doing?"
"L-Lady Palutena!" Pit stammered, frantically looking around. "How lovely to see you! I was just in the middle of reading!"
She slowly turned her gaze to a book on the table and looked back at him. "Is that so?"
He nodded frantically, believing that he managed to work his way out but was caught off guard by her next question.
"What's the book called?"
"…W-What?"
"Come on now Pit, you must know what it's called if you've been reading it. What's the title?"
Pit backed away, still with his hands behind his back. "Couldn't you look at it? It's right there!"
"I could, but then again, why can't you just tell me?" Palutena said, stepping closer to the Angel below her. "Unless you're lying to me, and you weren't reading."
"I'm not!"
"Okay then, grab the book for me and I'll see what it's called."
Pit smiled and quickly ran over to the book and handed it over to her, only to find her smirking. And he was confused why…
…Until he realised he had a burger in one hand and the book in the other.
He had been caught.
"Gotcha. I have to say Pit, it's a bold move to claim you were reading when we both know you can't."
And Palutena snatched the burger out of his hand and held it high as he jumped up trying to grab it. "Lady Palutena! Don't be cruel! It was just the one snack!"
But the Goddess wasn't budging. "Pit, you know what we are trying to achieve here. You need to learn how to eat properly, so that means no more junk food and sugary drinks."
"But vegetables are bland and evil!" Pit whined, remembering what happened last time when he had vegetables. "Burgers don't try to ruin your life or kill you. And even if they do, it's a slow and delicious death!"
Palutena just sighed and placed the burger and book on the small table and gestured to him. "Follow me, Pit. I wish to discuss something with you."
He tilted his head but followed closely behind her. She lead him to a balcony which showed off Skyworld to him. No matter how many times Pit looked down upon it, it always took his breath away.
"Tell me Pit. Do you think that there is more out there?"
Pit looked up at the Goddess and looked back down at Skyworld, looking at all of the residents going about their daily business as well as the Centurions training and made a face. "Well yeah. There's the Overworld where all the humans live-"
"No Pit. I mean, out there. From all of this."
This caught Pit's attention as he noticed Palutena looked… oddly serious. "Lady Palutena, are you feeling okay? You don't seem like yourself."
But the Goddess just kept staring ahead. "This universe is bigger than you realise, Pit. I'm sure after your experience in the Tournament, that your mind was opened to new possibilities, am I right? But it's not just new rivals and foes that are out there. There is also the hierarchy of Divine Beings."
"Wait, what?! That's crazy, you're the Goddess of Light! There's nobody stronger than you!"
Palutena shook her head and turned to face Pit once more. "I'm… not a Goddess. Or at least, that's not my true title. I am what's known as a Kai."
This completely threw Pit for a loop and he started to back away from her. This couldn't be right. Why was she telling him this sort of stuff? It just didn't add up! And he hated math!
"So… so why call yourself a Goddess if that's not what you are?"
"The humans below call me that and it just stuck to me. Seems that word is very common throughout the universe. And before you ask, Viridi is officially known as the Kai of Nature. But she likes Goddess better too. But that's not why I asked you to come along with me. You are familiar with the Underworld, correct?"
"Of course I am!" Pit clenched his fist, remembering the battles he has had with Hades and his army. "That evil Hades is no good, but he can never win against us!"
"He's not the strongest in that realm."
…
…
…
"W…What?"
All confidence that Pit had was now gone once that bombshell was dropped on him. He slowly looked up at Palutena, trying to find any semblance of humour on her face. But there was none. Then she continued.
"There is another… but he has gone missing lately… but I'll tell you about that another time. Do you now understand what I am trying to do? I see potential in you, Pit. And one day… maybe you could be promoted to beyond this place. But there are dangers in the universe who exceed even my own powers. And one day, I won't be able to protect you. Do you understand?"
Pit could tell how serious she was. Even if he didn't understand what could be more powerful than a Goddess- no, a Kai. He knew Palutena wouldn't joke about stuff like this. So he nodded and got on one knee, bowing his head.
"I swear that I'll become stronger to protect you from any foe that tries to harm you, Lady Palutena. Whatever comes our way, I will be your sword and your shield."
Palutena smiled at her Angel but then waggled a finger. "Don't think that buttering me up will get you brownie points, you still cheated on your diet."
Pit just groaned loudly and fell face first onto the ground. "Oh, now I'm even more hungry for butter and brownies! Can't I just finish the burger?"
"Oh no you don't, Pit. Now come with me. We have to teach you how to eat healthy." Palutena said, as her staff glowed and Pit was carried into the air beside her.
"But Lady Palutena…."
"No buts! Now how about we have a nice crispy Waldorf salad?"
"Forgive me Supreme Kai, but I do not see any of Light Kai's soldiers as skilled enough to take on Majin Buu." Kibito mused while pouring another cup of tea for Shin who had moved to a table and hummed.
"Unfortunately, it seems that you are correct, my friend." He sighed in defeat, staring at the Crystal Ball. "It appears that this universe has just gotten too laidback in a way. Frieza taking over part of it didn't help matters either. I mean, there was that race of warriors but… Frieza blew them up."
"But perhaps there are still some roaming about. I know I have seen a few, if that helps." Kibito suggested which perked up Shin.
"An excellent idea Kibito! Though I am surprised that you are playing along, considering how you feel about mortals."
"Since I cannot get you to leave that ball alone, then I should at least try and give proper advice. Though from what I've been seeing, there's no mortal strong enough to do anything. Actually, now that I think about it, I did detect something out of the ordinary in the Eastern part of the Universe. Time energy to be exact. Just like when we felt that disturbance in the Northern part. Why not check out the former first? I believe there are high power levels there, though I could be wrong."
Shin smiled and peered into the ball once more.
On a planet far out in the Eastern side of Universe 7, there was a band of fighters currently at odds with strange creatures with glowing purple eyes and malformed limbs. This group of warriors were known as the Shepherds, and the enemies were the Risen. They had gotten ambushed a while back when returning from Plegia, the neighbouring country of Ylisse.
On top of a stone bridge, two fighters were making short work of those surrounding them. A man with blue hair and a sword, and a woman with white hair and holding a Tome. These two were Robin and Chrom. The Exalt and Queen of Ylisse. And the pair were making full use of their years of working together as Robin used a thunder spell to paralyse one Risen while Chrom sliced it's head off with his sword, Falchion.
This went on for quite a while before Robin walked over to a Risen trying to crawl away and held out her hand, charging up an Arcfire and melted the creature before her and she sighed in content, happy that it's over.
"Are there any others?"
Chrom looked around, still on edge as he kept Falchion by his side. "That's the last of them. Gods, I thought it would never-"
But Robin gasped when she saw a Risen teleport behind him. "Chrom! Look out!"
She started to run towards him but then froze in place when her whole body started to fail on her. She slowly turned as she fell onto her knees and realised what happened. There was the Risen she had thought she killed, holding something that was attached to her.
A furry brown tail.
She fell face first into the mud, unable to move as Chrom saw his wife and tried to rush to her aid. "Robin!"
But Chrom noticed at the last minute the Risen that was behind him and tried to raise his sword to defend, but it was too late.
…That is until a voice sounded.
"Father, no!"
And like a flash of light, Chrom was pushed to the side as the Risen's blade met with a blue haired woman who parried and sliced it's chest open before stabbing it, killing the creature and turned to the one holding Robin's tail and aimed her hand out, sending a ball of light towards it, disintegrating it as Robin felt her body regain control again. Chrom quickly rushed over to her and helped her out of the mud and hugged his wife, relieved that she was okay.
The woman known as Marth breathed a sigh of relief, sheathing her sword at her side. "Thank the Gods you're both safe!"
But Chrom was silent and slowly turned towards her after maki side Robin was okay. "…You called me 'Father'."
…
Oh, crapbaskets.
Marth started to stammer and tried to think of an excuse but couldn't come up with anything. "D-Did I? I…"
She realised she couldn't hold this off any longer and glanced at Robin who was wiping the mud off her face. She rubbed at her arms and looked at Chrom. "…Perhaps we might speak privately?"
Chrom looked over to Robin and nodded. "Perhaps we should, yes. Robin, can you please round up the Shepherds and tend to the injured while I speak to our 'friend' here?"
Robin looked between the two and slowly nodded, as Marth looked at the tail retreat into the Tactician's large coat before gesturing to Chrom to follow her.
Chrom followed her but kept a hand on the handle of his blade. She may have helped them many times in the past, but her mysterious nature prevented him from fully trusting her. Perhaps that would change today.
They made their way to a clearing as the sun started to rise over the horizon and Marth rubbed her arms anxiously again, a trait Chrom noticed looked very familiar before she let out a sigh.
"I don't even know where to begin…"
"Well, I already know you're not Marth. Though, I've nothing better to call you… but I'll ask nothing of you that you don't wish to reveal. Whoever you are, Ylisse owes you a debt beyond repaying."
But Marth just shook her head and sighed again. "No, I mean, thank you. But… I think I would prefer you know the truth."
"As you wish." Chrom replied, secretly grateful to finally know her secrets, but found her slowly walking towards him.
"Here… look closely, and all will be made clear."
Chrom was confused at her words as she slowly got closer and closer until Marth was face to face with him. He couldn't understand what she was talking about… but then he gasped and his hand slowly slid off his sword in shock.
Her eye.
"That's the… Brand of the Exalt."
The same one on his arm.
The same one his baby daughter had, in the exact same place.
It all started to click at once. She was a time traveller too. It all made sense. And the fact that she had the exact same sword as his own.
"Lucina…" He breathed out as her identity was finally revealed. And he slowly looked down at the sword by her side and sighed.
"You deserved better from me than one sword and a world of troubles… I'm sorry."
Those words made Lucina's eyes start to water as she tried desperately to hold in her tears, but all the tension, all the stress, and all the emotions were just too much to hold. But then she felt a thumb brush her tears away and she saw it was Chrom who did that. And memories of her childhood with him surfaced.
She couldn't it anymore and hugged him tightly, crying into his chest. "Oh, father!"
Chrom just hugged her gently and stared ahead, with conflicting emotions in his eyes while his future daughter just bawled her eyes out, dampening his clothes. But he didn't care. She needed this.
Eventually, she backed away and rubbed at her eyes to dry off any remaining tears as Chrom just patiently waited. "Better, Lucina?"
Lucina slowly nodded and bowed her head. "Yes, father… I'm sorry. It all rushed back at once."
"Father…" Chrom muttered to himself and Lucina wondered if she was going too far by saying that. After all, he wasn't her actual father. Just a past version of him. But still…
"Should I call you something else?"
But Chrom just shook his head. "No, it's just strange to my ear… I like it."
"…Father!" Lucina exclaimed and let out a giggle for the first time since Chrom met her. And he couldn't help but laugh too and rubbed the back of his head.
"Hah! Yes, it will take some getting used to!"
That's when a voice sounded out which made both of them freeze as they got too caught up in the moment.
"Chrom?"
They looked over to see Robin approaching them, now cleaned of all the mud and eyeing him up. Chrom cleared his throat and looked at his wife.
"Is everything okay, Robin?"
But Robin had an unsure look on her face, looking between the two. "It's just that… you two are out here alone, and Marth is… crying. This is how ill rumours are born."
Chrom grimaced as he understood what she meant, while Lucina had a bright red face and slowly wishing that she was dead. Of all the situations to be put in… but Robin continued.
"I trust you, Chrom. But, is there a reason you and Marth need to be alone?"
He carefully looked at Lucina who was cooling off her red face. "Can we tell her, Lucina?
She just nodded in response after getting her bearings straight. "Of course."
But Chrom saying that name caught Robin off guard. "Lucina?!"
Chrom decided that he would be the one to say it. Perhaps it would ease off the blow if it was someone she knew and loved telling her. "Robin, this is going to come as a shock, but… I'll just say it: This is our daughter."
The look on Robin's face changed when she heard that. "What?! Have you gone mad?!"
But Lucina cut in and walked towards her. "It's true, Robin. Please… take a look. Prove it with your own eyes by looking into mine."
Robin peered at Lucina's eye and gasped when she saw it. "You have the Brand!"
Chrom nodded. "The same Brand carried by all House Ylisse's bloodline."
"Lucina's eye bears the same pattern…" Robin muttered.
"Do you see now?" Chrom asked but Robin shook her head.
"No, I can't say that I do. If-"
Suddenly, Lucina cut her off and rubbed her arms anxiously again. Which Chrom now realised it was a trait carried over from her mother. "If you are still sceptical, my lady… perhaps this will help."
She looked very anxious all of a sudden, but then both of them saw something move around her waist and they gasped. It was a brown tail. The exact same one Robin had.
"Your baby at the castle. She has one too, does she not? I am that baby."
Lucina took in a deep breath and spread her arms out. "I am Lucina from the future. I have both your bloodlines inside me, and I carry your power inside me. We have a lot to talk about. Will you listen?"
"How interesting… some Saiyans survived." Shin muttered to himself. "Though that white haired woman is unlike any Saiyan I have ever seen. But she is full blooded, there is no doubt about that."
But Kibito had a disgusted look on his face. "It seems that other girl is a half breed. Seems the remaining Saiyans had to cross breed in order to repopulate. But you are right, my Master. I remember Saiyans as planet conquerors, yet this one bears no traits. Almost like… she's forgotten. Ugh, and the half breed seems to have been using time travel. How she did that, I am unsure, but this constant abuse of time cannot go on!"
Shin looked puzzled at that sentence which Kibito noticed and sighed. "In the Northern side, there was time energy sensed there. Somebody travelled in through time…"
"Where about?"
"…Earth."
The Supreme Kai went pale when he heard that name. "If there's activity going around Earth to the point where time is being brought forth then that just attracts danger to possibly reviving Majin Buu! Quick! Let's observe Earth!"
On the planet Earth, a boy was at his desk in his room studying from a book. His eyes skimming through the contents as he wrote notes down too. That's when he heard a voice come from downstairs.
"Gohan! It's time to take a break!"
The boy named Gohan smiled a little and called back. "Just finishing up this last part, I'll be down in a minute!"
He closed the book and leaned back, sighing in content and looked out of the window. He had been through quite a lot in his short life, and recently, it had been just over a year since he was part of a battle that decided the fate of his planet. The Cell Games. Which unfortunately lead to the loss of his father, Son Goku, who chose to stay in the afterlife to try and protect his family.
While Gohan was upset at this decision, and he misses his father dearly. He does also understand his decision, and knew that this wouldn't be the last time he see's him. He doesn't know when, but he will see Goku one day. He just knows it.
Now that he was done studying for now, Gohan got out of his chair and walked to the kitchen where his mother Chi Chi was busy cooking, and she smiled when she saw him come. "Oh, Gohan! And how was your studying? Did you finish the second volume of calculus?"
"Yes mom, and once I'm back from my break I'll get started on volume three."
"That's my boy! Now, go outside and enjoy the fresh air, while I cook your lunch. Your baby brother is asleep and I'd like to keep it that way for now. Lunch will be ready in about an hour."
Gohan nodded and waved goodbye before exiting the door… and bumped into a large figure.
His first teacher, Piccolo.
"Oh, hello Mister Piccolo. What brings you here?"
The large Namekian had a stern expression as he looked Gohan up and down. "You've been slacking off on your training, haven't you?"
Oh… straight to the point, as always.
"Yeah, I guess I have a little." Gohan mumbled, rubbing the back of his head. "But, we're in a time of peace, aren't we? I can afford to have a little break."
But Piccolo shook his head. "For the next hour, we are going to quickly catch you up. I don't care if it's peaceful times, no slacking off. I didn't teach you to be weak."
He then turned around and started to float in the air. "Follow me."
Gohan knew that there was no escaping this, so he sighed and flew after Piccolo. "As you wish, Mister Piccolo…"
They landed in a vast canyon as both took their stances after Piccolo took off his weighted clothing and took a stance. "I want you to come at me with everything you've got! You hear me? No holding back! I want to see if you really have gotten sloppy."
The younger teen was unsure about this… but decided there was no point in arguing. "Right! Here I come!"
As he yelled loudly, powering up and feeling his energy get bigger and bigger as his hair turned golden and lightning started sparking off his body as he launched himself towards the Namekian, ready to throw a punch.
"Thank goodness. It seems that we had no reason to worry." Shin sighed in relief after seeing what looked like peaceful times on Planet Earth. But Kibito was not convinced.
"There was a great battle that took place on that world, Supreme Kai. With enough power to possibly alert others to the planet's location."
Shin took that into account and had a serious face on and rubbed his chin, humming. "Yes, and I cannot help but shake the feeling that someone or something will come for Majin Buu's egg soon… then it's settled. For now, we will monitor this planet and it's star system, to find if anyone tries to go near the egg. And if what you said is true Kibito… then we may need to call upon it's inhabitants for support. It's just as well that there are Saiyans on the planet."
"And the other star systems?" Kibito asked.
"We shall leave them be. After all, we only found a mere handful and unfortunately we cannot call upon the Kai of Light to help us, as she has her own agenda with the Demon Realm. We will deal with this ourselves, and perhaps the people of that world."
"As you wish."
Unaware to the pair of holy beings, a ship was making its way through the stars and towards the Planet Gargmana. In it contained Lord Slug and his crew as he looked to his soldiers.
"And you say that the planet is big enough? And that the vegetation is plentiful?"
"Yes, my Lord. It also has the right amount of cloud formation necessary to provide the building blocks for your water paradise. When we arrive, we shall send out some squads to survey the planet."
"Yeah!" One soldier named Medamatcha yelled. "We will kick anyone's shit that comes near us!"
But Lord Slug just raised a hand to silence them. "That won't be necessary. I want to see this planet for myself. See what will eventually become mine! And besides, now that I am in my prime, there is not a single living being that can stand up to me!"
And Lord Slug started laughing loudly as the ship made it's way throughout the void of space, on a direct course to the planet that would soon meet them fade to face.
Back at Garreg Mach, it was now the afternoon and Byleth was busy training in order to get better with handling a sword. To do this, she decided to have a bunch of opponents come at her at once. Of course, she could easily beat them all in a fight, but the whole point was to train up her proficiency with the Sword of the Creator as she stared down those who were in front of her, gripping her training sword.
There was her father, Alois and Catherine for a start, as she usually trained with them. But there were some interesting additions in the form of Judith and Rodrigue as well as Gilbert, a man who seemed to have a connection with Annette based on what she heard. But they all wanted to test Byleth and… well, the more the merrier, right?
"Come at me." She said, narrowing her eyes as her tail coiled round her waist. That was all they needed as they rushed towards her and she sucked in a deep breath and exhaled, trying to focus on defending and proper strikes.
The first one to come swinging was Catherine, who used a heavy training sword similar to Thunderbrand as she swung in a wide arc, only for Byleth to hold out the flat of the blade and used the force of her swing to deflect it away from her. But Catherine knew she would do that and so stuck her foot out and launched it straight into Byleth's stomach which caused her to wheeze, having the wind knocked out of her.
That's when Rodrigue took advantage of her brief vulnerability and charged towards her, ready to strike her in the leg. But he forgot to take one thing into consideration as a brown appendage wrapped round his wrist. She may have been unable to defend herself, but her tail was able to help as it kept his hand in place for a second so that Byleth can recover and she swung the sword at his side, and she tried to hit his shoulder but he jumped out of the way and allowed Gilbert to come forth with his training axe and he managed to strike her in the chest. Byleth then pushed him away and deflected a blow from Judith who tried to attack her from behind.
She was getting surrounded. She had to get them away from her otherwise it was over. So Byleth channeled her Ki and expelled it outwards to create a gust of wind which threw her opponents backwards and clearing her way.
"Oi! We said no Ki attacks!" Catherine yelled, picking herself up. "Only one of us can use it here!"
She then turned to Shamir who was leaning against a pillar. "Speaking of which, why are YOU not here?! We're getting our asses handed to us!"
"Because I don't want to." Shamir said, having her arms crossed. "Besides, it's fun watching you get tossed around."
Before Catherine could come up with a retort, she got hit twice by Byleth in various limbs as Shamir smirked. "Three strikes. You're out."
Catherine was flabbergasted and was wondering what just happened, but then realised the agreement they had. Three strikes and you had to sit out. "Oh, damn it all! She's one hit away! Get her out now before she gets the rest of you!"
She then went over to the wall Shamir was leaning on and pouted deeply, folding her arms and letting out a huff.
"Don't talk to me."
"Wasn't planning to. Your face is all I need."
Byleth deflected a strike from both Rodrigue and Alois and kicked the former away before focusing on the Captain of the Knights of Seiros. She ducked under a swing and used her tail to grab his wrist and allow her to strike him once. That's when Jeralt got her in a full nelson to give the others an opening to take her out. Judith ran forward and got ready to stab Byleth, but at the last second, Byleth hoisted herself up using Jeralt as leverage and flipped herself over him which caused him to gasp in surprise, especially when he got a wooden sword to the gut which caused him to wheeze.
"Shit! Sorry Jeralt!" Judith yelled and looked at Byleth.
"That was a neat little trick there. You're like a little monkey. Which, giving your tail, wouldn't be completely inaccurate."
Byleth smirked in return and got ready to fight Judith again but found her ankle getting grabbed by her father which made her blink, not expecting something like that to come from him. But that moment of distraction was what was needed for Rodrigue to hit her in the arm with his sword. It was over.
…For the normal person, it would be as she activated Divine Pulse and rewinded time for a few seconds which caused a certain spirit to come out.
'HEY! This isn't something you can just use to satisfy your ego! It's meant to save your life! No more after this! I'm confiscating your privileges if you can't be mature enough to use it!'
Byleth rolled her eyes in response, ignoring what she said. That's fine, she didn't need to use anymore. But she wanted to keep going. She hadn't felt this alive in a while, the act of fighting was what always caused that spark inside her chest to flare up. And so once time resumed, she stepped away from Jeralt and blocked Rodrigue before hitting him on the shoulder and drove the handle of her sword into his stomach sending him flying back and putting him out.
Alois and Gilbert teamed up and tried a variety of strikes and thrusts to get Byleth, but she just kept dodging and ducking before hitting them both with the sword, sending them out too. She was about to go to Judith but then felt something collide with her back. A Ki blast sent by Jeralt.
She wheeled round in surprise to see him with his hand extended but her eyes widened as Judith managed to strike her in the back, causing her to be sent out.
"But… we said-"
"You broke the rules, kid. It's only fair that I do the same."
Byleth was about to retort, but but her tongue. It was only fair that he did that, after all, she broke the no Ki rule as well. But she had to admit, she was starting to get the hang of the sword as the days went by. That's when she heard a voice.
"Amazing! Absolutely incredible!" Rodrigue exclaimed while holding he place on his stomach that she struck. Oh dear, did she hit too hard? But it seemed Rodrigue didn't care a she placed his hands on her shoulders.
"I can now see why Dimitri and Felix look up to you so much. You are something else."
Gilbert nodded and put away the training axe. "Indeed. Despite having so many opponents come at you at once, you were able to adapt and overcome most of the obstacles in your way. Like your body just knows how to react."
Jeralt smiled and clapped her on the back. "Yeah, she's one of a kind. Broke her first nose when she was still sucking at the teat and has been fighting ever since. She has her gentle side though, as I'm sure the students have said."
"You all did well too. I'm sure you'll be fine at the Battle of the Eagle and Lion, father." Byleth said but Jeralt shook his head.
"I won't be taking part in it, kid."
"What? Why?!" Byleth yelled, a little disappointed that she wouldn't get to see how Jeralt fared against the students. But he just shrugged and explained to her.
"Due to what happened to her, Manuela isn't fit to fight right now. Naturally, as his biggest rival isn't going to be participating, Hanneman won't be there either. And so I decided not to take part either since it would be too unfair, despite them trying to convince me otherwise."
That's when the two Professors came by and Manuela eyed up Jeralt. "I still say you should've stayed. I know you want to see the kids in action."
Jeralt hummed and shook his head. "I can do that from a distance. No need in giving unfair advantages. Besides, the brats have to learn to fend for themselves this time. Since Byleth won't be there either."
Byleth looked at the bandages on her and asked if she was okay, but Manuela laughed a little.
"Thanks to all your efforts. Though imagine my reaction when I woke up to see everything destroyed! But I digress, there's no need for me to put myself out there and not have the students see me collapsed. Well… not on the battlefield anyway."
Hanneman nodded and straightened his tie. "So all three of us will not be participating. But do not expect the Golden Deer to give up so easily. It should be on equal grounds now."
Manuela smiled at Hanneman and then winked at Byleth. "The old coot is right. Especially since you and Jeralt as well as Shamir have been pushing the students to their limits and beyond. Though that doesn't mean we haven't been putting in the work too. Just come see me in the infirmary once the Blue Lions have destroyed you all."
"I'm sure they will all give it their all." Jeralt said as Byleth walked away to put the training weapons back. "At least, they better or else they'll be getting brutal training to make up for it.
But that's when Jeralt heard a thud behind him and a gasp from Manuela. They all saw that she had collapsed and they all ran over to her.
"Hey! You okay?"
Jeralt noticed Byleth blinked to gather her bearings and realised what had happened to her. What was embarrassing was that everyone was surrounding her with concern.
"Kid, what's up with you? You don't just collapse like that." Jeralt said but Byleth tried to wave it off.
"I'm fine, really-"
But Alois interjected. "I believe she's been training too hard lately. After all, how often have you been doing sword training these past few days? I assume that you of all people know that too much training isn't good for you."
Jeralt nodded and grimaced. "Yeah, he's right. You've been pushing yourself too hard, Byleth. It's best that you take some time off."
Byleth tried to argue but quickly learned that it was a losing battle as Shamir helped her up.
"Listen, I know you're eager to pursue new strengths, and I love that you're fired up. But training until you collapse won't do you any favours, you know? Especially the amount of times you trained with Flayn. So go get some rest. Shamir and I can handle the Task Force, got it?"
Seeing no way to argue, Byleth sighed and slowly bowed to everyone. "Thank you for the training. I'll catch up with you all later."
They all watched her walk away as Rodrigue still smiled. "Astonishing. She's a cut above the rest. She no doubt gets that from the Famous Blade Breaker."
But Jeralt just chuckled in response. "No. She gets that spirit from her mother."
"I just hope she doesn't wind up in my infirmary anytime soon." Manuela smiled, folding her arms.
'Ugh, what could have caused such dizziness? I felt it too.' Sothis groaned rubbing at her head while Byleth walked to the library to try and do some light reading. L
"It's strange… I felt something in my chest before I fainted."
'Hmm… perhaps it's our constant uses of Divine Pulses. Or perhaps it's the stress of these past couple of months? It seems that our enemies have infiltrated the ranks of the teachers here. Jeritza is proof of that. And I would bet that he isn't the only one. It's probably getting to us. The anxiety of not knowing who to trust.'
Byleth hummed in response as she entered the library and looked in her at the shelves to find a book to read but then felt a presence nearby. She quickly turned around to find the librarian Tomas there.
"Is everything okay, my dear? You seem very on edge."
"I'm fine… just… looking for a book to clear my head."
"Ah, I understand. In that case, may I recommend some to you?" Tomas suggested, and motioned for her to follow. "All I ask is that you return the books from where you found them, and not be like that boy from the Golden Deer."
Byleth followed ahead and found herself in a part of the library that looked unlike the main section. It certainly housed more impressive books. Books involving topics she hadn't even heard of before. Tomas gestured towards the shelves and smiled.
"This may help satisfy some curiosity. As I have heard, you have no knowledge of the Church of Seiros, correct? This library may be the start of many mysteries solved. Please take a look, but I do ask for you to put the books back once you are about to leave."
Tomas bowed to her and silently left as Sothis narrowed her eyes. 'There's something off about him. I can't put my finger on it, but it's the way he is looking at you. I suppose after the revelation with Jeritza, I don't trust anybody anymore.'
But Byleth just slowly took a book off of the shelf and put it on a table and opened it, skimming through the details. From what she saw, there was nothing really interesting of note. Nothing that Rhea and Seteth hadn't told her already. But then she noticed a page that was bookmarked and Sothis peered at the writing, finding something very interesting.
'The Chalice of Beginnings? What in the world is that?'
They kept reading along and found out that it was theorised to be capable of reviving the dead, but that it had been sealed away long after so that nobody could misuse it's power. 'How curious. Tomas lead you to this section of the library. And it was bookmarked… it's almost like… he wanted you to find this. But why?'
That's when Byleth felt a Ki signature nearby and turned around, and found a shadowy figure running away after being spotted as Byleth sprinted after it… only to crash into a surprised Claude.
"Woah, Teach! Where's the fire?"
She realised that Dimitri was also there, with a surprised look as he helped her up. "Are you okay, Professor?"
Byleth frantically looked around and found the Ki signature was gone completely and she sighed. "Yes… just thought I saw someone."
Both the guys looked at each other confused. "It's just us in here, Teach. Nobody else. Maybe you need some rest."
"Yes, that's what I was in the middle of doing. I was… doing some light reading. Where's Edelgard?"
Now they had a frown on their faces as Claude had his hands behind his head. "With that Monica girl that we saved. She's clung to her like a lost puppy."
Dimitri nodded in agreement. "Indeed, and now we can't do our usual training routine because Edelgard is always busy. That's why we came here, because Claude wished to take-"
"Borrow."
"-…'borrow' some books. Despite the fact that it upsets the librarian."
Claude waved it off and walked over to the table that Byleth was at. "Ah, he'll get it back, don't worry. So what are you planning on reading, Teach?"
"Oh, I was actually in the middle of reading…"
Byleth trailed off when she realised that the book she was reading was gone! She just had it! Where did it go?!
"Are you sure that you're okay?" Dimitri asked, concerned as Byleth narrowed her eyes.
"…Yes. Just have a lot on my mind. Come on, let's find some books to read."
It seems that things got interesting again.
*Song: Closing Theme (DBZ)*
It seems that Byleth cannot get a moments peace in the Monastery. A mysterious figure seems to be observing her every move and laying out clues for her to find. Meanwhile, in the vast reaches of space, the evil Lord Slug is slowly approaching the planet. And with each passing day, Byleth gets closer to bringing out Flayns inner potential.
Who is this mysterious figure leading Byleth on? What caused her to faint? What about her training with the Task Force?
And what role do these seemingly random individuals in Universe 7 have in all this? Will they one day meet our heroes? Or simply always be just out of reach?
Find out on the next exciting chapter of. The Ashen Saiyan!
First off. I just want to say thank you so much to everyone who favourites and follows this story. We have reached 100 favourites and 115 followers. It truly makes me happy that you all stay tuned to see more on this.
Now, next chapter will be a Flayn centric chapter. Just mostly detailing on her anger and her powers. You may have noticed she's a little different from the others given her use of mouth flames. But I am taking inspiration from another anime regarding her forms.
So yes. The Smash Bros. Universe is part of Dragonball. I know there will be furrowed brows, but it's FanFiction. We're allowed to be creative and think outside the box. Plus, there wasn't too many changes I had to make. Samus is just working for the Galactic Patrol as a Bounty Hunter and lets be honest, there's so many Kai's and gods, why not make Palutena a Kai? It's hardly going to change anything.
Also, you may be wondering why Samus has a Pikachu with her. One of the best things to come out of Subspace was their friendship and it pains me that there isn't more art of the two.
So Rosalina has met Frieza and of course he is a sadistic bastard who murdered one of her babies. Exactly how he should be.
And to everyone thinking why Shin didn't use a certain pink puffball to destroy another pink puffball, the universe is a massive place. He can't see everyone. But rest assured, he is there.
I was thinking lately about other transformations regarding some of our cast. I have some techniques from Dragonball planned to be used on the Task Force but I was curious on one thing. How would you guys feel about later down the road them all getting their potential unlocked by Elder Kai? Now I have a way to connect him to Three Houses but I'm curious how you all feel about doing that.
And another thing. I did some things regarding permanent scars with Leonie and her scars on her hands and wrists. How would you guys feel about limb dismemberment? And who would you want to see it happen to?
Also I know I said I was bringing in movie villians but how would you guys feel about GT villians too?
Now for a thing I'm sure some weren't expecting. Robin is a Saiyan. Now I will be making a story covering Saiyan Robin and the events of Awakening later on, but I want to point it out that Robin was one of the survivors. But how did she end up as a vessel of Grima? Stay tuned.
Lastly, I'm going to try ending these chapters like an episode of DBZ with the narrator and the Bruce Faulconer track playing. Let me know what you think of that.
But yes, please tune in next time where we will be doing a sort of fun episode and exploring Flayns past and perhaps into her anxiety of being separated from her new friends.
Favourite, Follow, Review, and I'll catch you all later!
