Amy, meanwhile, was attending her first Potions Club meeting.

There was an individually sized black desk with a black chair under it at the very front of the room and a few feet of floor space behind that were four individually sized black desks in a row that each had a black chair under them.

Amy saw that the three desks from the left of the wall all had a person sitting at them, as did the desk at the front of the room, so, she found herself a seat at the rightmost desk of the row.

Alexander Ivanoff was sitting at the desk at the front of the room, and he said in a businesslike voice, "Good afternoon, Potions Club. In these club meetings, you can all just call me Alexander. I have agreed to lead Potions Club as well as teach Potions Class. First, I say the four of you who have chosen Potions club should introduce yourselves. "

Sitting in the desk at the far left of the row was a tall boy with a mature looking face. This boy had flat and straight black hair and black eyes and he gave off an aura of being very businesslike.

"My name is Brett Brew, " said the boy in a very formal kind of voice, "I'm in my seventh year of being educated in the Magical Arts. I have always been an O student in the subtle art of Potion Making. I was in Ravenclaw at Hogwarts. I'm a half blood with a muggle mom and wizard dad. Dad is also very tall. Potion Making comes naturally to me and I find the subject fascinating so why not join Potions Club?"

Sitting at the desk next to Brett was another tall and older student, though this one looked a lot more carefree. He had light brown hair, brown eyes, a very deep tan, and a wide smile on his face.

"My name is Mason Mix, " said this boy in a warmer and more cheerful kind of voice, "I'm a seventh year who has been at Hogwarts as well. But I was in Hufflepuff. I'm the muggleborn son of two muggle Chemistry teachers."

"Potions and Chemistry are very similar subjects, " piped up Amy, "Mix the right ingredients in the right amounts to produce a result."

"Like most Hufflepuffs, I always loved both Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures. I've always loved life of all kinds. But, if pressed to choose one favorite magical subject, it would definitely be Potions. I joined Potions Club because I'm really excited to learn about alternate methods of brewing Potions. "

"You've come to the right place, " said Alexander kindly, "Learning these alternate methods of making Potions is at the very heart of Potions Club."

Amy actually recognized the boy sitting at the third desk, who she remembered being sorted into Slytherin during her brief stay at Hogwarts.

"I'm Ernie Macmillan," said this boy pompously, "I'm an extraordinarily talented Potion Maker and you're all going to see what a wonderful Potion Maker I am as we go through some club meetings. When I grow up, I'm going to be a Potion Maker for St. Mungo's and people will say that Ernie Macmillan is the GOAT Potion Maker."

"I'm Amy Alworth, " Amy introduced herself, "I've found that if I'm in a bad mood or agitated, making Potions snaps me out of those phases. I always feel at ease while making Potions and I also always feel content and peaceful after the accomplishment of making a Potion. Potions is a great outlet for me."

"Good basic introductions," said Alexander approvingly., "Now we won't start making Potions in Potions Club until next meeting. But can each of the four of you share what your favorite Potion is and why?"

"My two favorite Potions are Antidote to Common Poisons and Antidote to Uncommon Poisons," answered Brett in a serious and solemn voice, "It's good to know that if I do get poisoned for whatever reason, that there is a cure for it."

"My favorite Potion is Liveliness Potion, " said Mason excitedly, "It's awesome to know that there is a Potion out there to put a pep in your step."

"The best Potion by far is Felix Felicis, " piped up Ernie smugly, "Better known as Liquid Luck."

With an air of superiority, Ernie added, "Felix Felicis is the hardest Potion to make and the most disastrous to get wrong. That will only enhance my legacy as the GOAT Potion Maker when I grow up to make multiple batches of strong and perfectly made Felix Felicis."

"My favorite Potion is Dreamless Sleep Potion, " revealed Amy quietly, "Sometimes, escaping into the nothingness of dreamless sleep is exactly what a person needs. The idea of dreamless sleep is peacefully comforting."

"Interesting choices, " said Alexander cheerfully, "Why don't the four of spend the rest of this meeting talking amongst yourselves and get to know each other better."

They ended talking more about Potions. Despite his high opinion of himself, Mason and Amy took to Ernie well after talking to him for a bit. Both were impressed by his knowledge of the subject and his passion for the craft. Brett, however, was so overtly serious that it was hard for the other three to take to him. For his part, Alexander hoped Brett would loosen up as Club meetings progressed.

Amy, meanwhile, felt confident that a strong bond could develop between the four of them. In her eyes, once they got around to actually making Potions, their common love of the craft of Potion Making would bond them.

While she was a little disappointed that the club was not bigger, Amy knew she had chosen the right club.
