DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN HARRY POTTER.

Harry tossed and turned about in his bed. It was around midnight and he had been restless for some time.

He was having a nightmare.

Harry was sitting in a crib as a toddler. A lady with red hair, Lily, Harry's mother was looking at him, saying comforting words to him, but he could not hear them.

Suddenly, the lady stood up and turned her back to him. He could hear her screaming. Then he heard someone shouting and saw a green light hit his mother, causing her to fall down to the ground.

And then a man came near Harry. He had red eyes and looked scary. Harry cried out of fear. The man shouted something and the next thing he saw was a green light, headed towards him.

His eyes were closed now and he could hear the rumbling of a motorcycle.

He opened his eyes, and found himself in a cupboard.

And standing in front of him just outside the cupboard was none other than Uncle Vernon, laughing maniacally.

"You thought she wanted you boy," Vernon bellowed, "but she doesn't. No one loves you. Your Mummy and Daddy left you and no one will ever love a freak like you!"

Harry called out, "Aunty, please don't go!"

But it was not Aunt Amelia who came over to him. It was Aunt Petunia.

Aunt Petunia screeched and yelled, "You freak! You are just a freak like your parents. How dare you try to hug me! I don't love you Freak! You are a good for nothing, unwanted boy! Don't you dare ruin things for Dudley with your freakishness!"

And with that, she slapped him and locked him in his cupboard. Harry cried as he heard Aunt Petunia cooing all over Dudley.

Amelia woke up to sounds coming from Harry's bedroom. She shot out of bed and rushed into the room where Harry was crying out, "Aunty, please, AUNTY, NO, NO!"

Amelia rushed over to Harry and gently shook him awake calling out, "Harry, wake up, it's only a dream, Harry, wake up."

Harry opened his eyes and looked at Aunt Amelia. Instantly, he cried out, "I'm sorry, I'll be good, don't hurt me!"

Aunt Amelia sat on Harry's bed and gathered him in her arms, rocking him gently.

She whispered, "Baby, I will never hurt you. I've got you baby, don't weep my baby."

Harry wept in her arms as she rocked him.

Amelia asked him, "Did you have a bad dream?"

Harry nodded, crying as he did so.

Amelia said, "Oh my poor baby, tell me what happened."

Harry then proceeded to tell her all about his nightmare, crying as he did so.

When he had finished the part about his mother, Amelia felt her heart cringe, realizing that it must be a nightmare of what happened that fateful Halloween night, Lily trying to protect Harry and being killed, and Voldemort casting the killing curse at Harry. She felt her heart break when he told her about the Dursleys part.

Amelia held the sobbing child in her arms, allowing him to cry on her shoulder while saying, "Baby, I will never leave you like that. You are not a freak. You're my child and I love you. I want you, I love you and I will never leave you and go away."

Harry cried out, "Don't take me back to them, please, don't take me back to the Dursleys."

Amelia held Harry and cried out softly, "Oh my poor baby, I will never ever take you back to them and leave you with those people! You're my baby as much you're Lily's baby. She loved you so much, and she would never have abandoned you, and just like that, I will never ever abandon you. I might not be your biological mother but I love you as my own child. Harry, I will never ever leave you and go away."

Amelia held Harry and rocked him from side to side for a few minutes. She then proceeded to cradle him in her arms as Harry clung on tightly to her.

She then carried Harry to her own bedroom and tucked Harry and herself under the covers. She couldn't bear to leave the poor child in such a state.

Amelia wrapped her arms around Harry and whispered, "Don't worry love. I'll keep you safe. Sleep my baby, sleep."

Harry soon fell asleep in her arms after some minutes of snuggling, and he slept peacefully.

Around 8 o'clock in the morning, Harry stirred slowly in bed before opening his eyes. As soon as he opened them, he found himself looking into Susan's eyes, so close to his own. In fact, Susan was on top of him.

Susan got off him and said, "Good morning Harry."

Harry hugged Susan saying, "Good morning Susan. Where did Aunty go?"

Susan replied, "Aunty went to take a bath."

A few minutes later, Amelia entered the room, dressed in a maroon bathrobe. She straightaway went and wrapped her arms around Harry and Susan.

Harry called out, "Good morning Aunty."

Amelia kissed his and Susan's cheeks before saying, "Good morning Harry, did you sleep well?"

Harry nodded in response.

Sometime later, Harry and Susan were in the dining room eating cereal with milk and toast. Harry was dressed in his new red lion shirt and light brown shorts and Susan was dressed in a yellow long sleeved shirt and yellow track pants. They looked so cute.

Amelia turned to look at Harry as she took a bite of her toast. She was concerned about him. She knew that she couldn't afford to let the wizarding world know about Harry being with her. Crouch with his ruthless personality would no doubt, create huge problems and would probably accuse her of holding 'the Boy-Who-Lived' as a hostage. Already, he had become quite exasperated with her constant pleas for a trial for Sirius. Many people would fawn all over Harry due to his title and make things uncomfortable for him, not to mention the possibility of a big head. Sure, there were some people she knew that she could trust. If she could find Remus Lupin, it would be well and good. Perhaps the Abbots would be understanding and see him as a child rather than as a 'messiah'. Other than those, she really didn't know whom she could trust with Harry.

She wasn't going to tell Dumbledore just yet, because she knew that if she did now, he would no doubt try to send Harry back to the Dursleys. It would be better to let him know after becoming Harry's legal guardian. She would have to start the process as soon as possible. Since the next day would be a Monday, it would be best to start it then. Hopefully, the concerned officials wouldn't be too nosy. It wouldn't be easy, but somehow, she was sure that things would work out well.

Looking at Harry, she said, "Harry, today, we are going to go for a checkup at St. Mungo's. It is a wizarding hospital in London. We do need to see a healer."

Harry asked, "What's a healer?"

Amelia replied, "A healer is someone who helps people when they are sick. It's just like a doctor, but it's a magical doctor."

"Oh," Harry said in surprise.

Amelia just smiled.

Shortly after breakfast, Harry and Susan found themselves sitting in their booster seats in Amelia's car as she drove on the road, headed for St. Mungo's.

Sometime later, Harry and Susan found themselves in front of a dingy old shop in London with a manikin at the window. Amelia, who was holding their hands, said to Harry, "Now, this is going to be something different, but don't worry, no need to be afraid, it'll be okay, and I want you to stay quiet until we are inside ok?"

"Okay," Harry replied.

Amelia went closer to the manikin and said, "We're here for Harry Potter's appointment."

The manikin nodded and gestured them forward. Harry looked at the manikin curiously even as Amelia pulled him towards the window.

And to his amazement, they went through it instead of hitting it, and emerged into a large lobby where everything was white and polished.

Amelia looked at Harry and said, "We're here Harry, and there was nothing to be afraid of."

Harry asked, "Was that magic?"

Amelia answered, "It sure was."

Susan spoke up, "Aunty takes me here to see the healer."

Amelia said, "Susan also has to have checkups and they're not scary or anything, so don't worry."

Harry mentioned, "Aunt Petunia took Dudley for a checkup and he didn't want to go."

Amelia asked, "Did he throw a huge fuss and cry loudly? Kicking and screaming about saying all kinds of things like 'I don't want to go!'?"

Harry replied, "Yeah".

Amelia smiled at that and said, "Dudley seems to be very spoiled. Checkups are important, especially for little ones like you and Susan."

She then pulled Harry and Susan along with her as she moved towards a large desk nearby where a few people were sitting. She went up to one of them, a woman dressed in minty green robes and said, "Good morning, we're here for an appointment for Harry Potter."

The woman's eyes widened for a moment but she quickly said, "Ah, Harry Potter's appointment, yes it's been scheduled for this morning. I trust you know the way to the children's ward."

Amelia replied, "Thank you. Have a good day."

She then proceeded to the third floor, climbing up a few flights of stairs. As soon as they reached, Harry's eyes widened as he beheld the room in which he was in. The wall was all multi colored. Red, blue, orange, green, and several other colors greeted Harry's eyes.

He then noticed a part of the room where some kids were playing with some toys. Susan asked, "Aunty, can we go play?"
Amelia replied, "Of course you can. I'll call you when it's time."

Harry and Susan bounded over to the play mat on which the kids were all gathered. Harry found a play road mat and a toy car and started driving the car along the road.

He was just turning around a corner when he bumped into someone.

He turned to see who it was and saw a boy with red hair, around his height sitting next to him with a toy train in his hand.

The boy looked at Harry and said, "Hello," before holding out another toy train nearby. Harry took the train and they both began to drive their trains alongside each other.

A minute later, Harry asked, "Are you here for a checkup?"

The boy said, "Yeah. My name is Ron and I'm four years old. What's your name?"

Harry replied, "Harry."

Ron smiled and moved over to some blocks, pulling Harry behind him. They took them and started to make a tower.

Meanwhile, Amelia was smiling as she watched Harry and the boy called Ron playing. She watched as they built a tower first, and then took it down to make a garage.

After arranging the blocks together, they moved a blue car nearby into their garage.

Ron turned his head and called out, "Mummy, Harry and I made a garage. Come."

A red haired woman sitting nearby stood up and moved towards them, pulling a small red haired girl behind her. She looked at it and said, "Oh, that's a nice garage!" Ron replied, "And the car is Daddy's car." Ron's mother smiled and said, "That's so lovely. I see you've made a new friend by the way."

Ron said, "This is my friend Harry."

Ron's mother turned to Harry and said, "Hello Harry, I'm Mrs. Weasley and this is my son Ron. I see you too seem to be happy with each other."

Just then, Harry heard Aunt Amelia calling out, "Harry, it's time. Susan, come along."

Mrs. Weasley ushered Harry along saying, "You'd better run along. Good luck."

Harry and Susan bounded over to Amelia, who led them through a door, and into an office room.

Harry looked around curiously at the room. There was a padded table in the middle, a large measuring stick against the wall with a dragon at the bottom of it, and some pictures of funny looking animals.

There was a woman in the room, dressed in white. This obviously had to be the healer. Her white uniform made her look similar to doctors that Harry had seen every time Petunia had taken him for a checkup.

The healer smiled at Harry and Susan and said, "Good morning you little ones. You seem to be quite happy. It's so good to see you Harry and Susan."

Turning to look at Harry directly, she said, "Harry, can you take off your shoes and come here so that I can see how tall you are?"

Harry did as he was instructed; slipping off his new shoes that Amelia had gotten him to reveal his little red and yellow socks and bounding over to the measuring stick. He stared at the dragon as the healer checked his height.

She then did a bunch of things, such as checking his heartbeat with a stethoscope and using a stick like the one he had seen Amelia using to shine a light as she looked down his throat, having him hop on one foot as long as he could, checking his bruises, eyes, etc. Harry winced slightly as she prodded him and checked for his bruises and his eyes too. He didn't like that part much.

A few minutes later, she smilingly said, "You're done! Yippee, now you can put on your shoes and play with this while I talk to your aunt, okay?"

Harry smiled as she handed him his stethoscope. He immediately proceeded to listen to Susan's heartbeat. Susan who was sitting next to him on the padded table just smiled.

The healer turned to Amelia and said, "He's quite underweight for his age, and he certainly doesn't seem to be frisky like other kids. You'll have to make sure he's eating enough, lots of fruits and vegetables, and of course, milk for calcium. Also, I don't like the look of those bruises. Do you know how he got them?"

Amelia replied, "I've only had him since the night before yesterday. But from what I know, his previous guardians didn't treat him well. His cousin especially bullied him."

The healer gasped and said, "Oh my, that's terrible! Wasn't he supposed to be with Muggle relatives for safety?"

Amelia said, "It's true, but those relatives turned out to be quite cruel. And by the way, I'd really appreciate not spreading the word about his guardians or the fact that he's with me. I don't want the entire magical world falling upon him or Susan."

The healer nodded and said, "You have my word. Of course, I wouldn't spread that around. He's just a child and he needs to be loved and cared for, not abused or fawned upon like some sort of god!"

She took a deep breath and continued, "He's obviously been neglected, and he's probably afraid that he'll misbehave."

Amelia replied, "He was neglected and abused. I guess I'll have to tread carefully."

The healer agreed saying, "Yes. Maybe just give him a time out when he gets naughty. And afterwards, hug him and remind him that you love him. I'm sure that with you as his guardian, he'll eventually come out of his shell. He seems to be comfortable with you, by the looks of it."

Amelia asked, "Other than that, is everything alright? His eyes, ears, teeth…"

The healer replied, "His teeth are in perfect condition. I assume he's brushing twice a day at least."

Amelia replied, "That's right."

The healer continued, "But, his eyes aren't. He's got short sight, and he'll need glasses."

Amelia looked at Harry with concern. The previous day, she had noticed him straining his eyes and moving his head closer to see what was in front of him clearly, especially when they had been reading. Although she knew that his father had gotten glasses at a very young age, she couldn't help feeling worried about this.

She turned to the healer and said, "His father needed glasses at a very young age, so it shouldn't be too surprising that Harry too needs them, but I can't help feeling worried. How bad is it?"

The healer replied, "Not too bad, but he'll need to get his glasses as soon as possible. That'll mean a trip to Diagon Alley if he is to get the best glasses."

Amelia didn't feel very positive about that, but it had to be done. Harry would probably have to be disguised. At least if his scar could be covered, it would be easier to whisk a nearly four year old child in and out of Diagon Alley. It was certainly a good thing that she had raincoats and caps ready in the car, just in case.

She said, "Well, that can be managed."

The healer asked, "Anything else?"

Amelia replied, "No, that's about it."

The healer turned to Harry and called out, "Harry, I've got a few surprises for you."

She went and lifted Harry and Susan off the padded table. Susan, who was holding the stethoscope, handed it over happily to her. She then handed a small bag to Harry. He peeked inside and found a tiny red toothbrush and little tube of toothpaste along with some floss.

"Those are for you to have your teeth nicely cleaned. Remember, you've got to brush in the morning when you wake up and before bed. And definitely floss especially after dinner. Do you think you can do that?"

"Yes," Harry grinned and replied. This would certainly be fun. Aunt Petunia had always helped his cousin Dudley brush his teeth but Harry had had to somehow learn to do it himself, not to mention Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia refusing to help him. However, after being taken away from the Dursleys, he had been able to do it better thanks to Aunt Amelia.

The healer then pulled out two lollipops. Handing one to Harry, she said, "For being such a lovely boy, you get this." Turning to Susan, she said, "Here's one for you too lovely girl."

Aunt Amelia turned to the kids and reminded, "What do you say?"

Both of them said, "Thank You."

Amelia took their hands and left the office after thanking the healer and wishing her a good day.

As they left the office and re-entered the waiting area, Harry saw Ron and his mother sitting nearby. He waved to Ron, who proceeded to wave back and call out, "Harry!"

Harry looked up at Amelia and asked, "Aunty, can I go play with Ron?"

Amelia looked at him and said, "Okay, but we have to go in a few minutes so that we can get your glasses. Also, Ron also has to see the healer, and she may call him now or in a few minutes. So when I call you, just come over, okay?"

Harry replied, "Okay," and rushed off to play with Ron with Susan following him.

As Amelia watched the kids playing nearby, she heard Ron's mother say, "It's so sweet to watch our children play together. Are both of them yours?"

Amelia turned to look at her and spoke, "Mrs. Weasley, is it you?"

Mrs. Weasley replied, "You remember me? I'm Molly Weasley."

Amelia replied, "I'm Amelia Bones. I remember having seen you quite a few times. I remember fighting alongside Gideon and Fabian during the war a few years ago. We spoke quite a few times at least."

Molly Weasley beamed and hugged Amelia saying, "Amelia, it is you. I don't think we met that often, but my brothers spoke quite highly of you a lot. How have you been?"

Amelia replied, "Oh, alright mostly, taking care of my children, my niece and nephew."

Molly looked at the three children and said, "Your children are so sweet. Perhaps we should really organize a play date for them sometime."

Amelia said, "That would be quite wonderful. They seem to have become good friends with your son already, so quickly in fact!"

Molly smiled and asked, "By the way, if you don't mind me asking, is that boy Harry Potter?"

Amelia was about to open her mouth but Molly quickly spoke, "If you're worried about how I'll react, I promise I won't see him as the Boy-Who-Lived or go on telling tales to the public."

Amelia replied, "I really appreciate that, and yes, he is Harry Potter."

Molly looked him and said sadly, "Poor child, after that Halloween night. Well I'm glad to see him looking so happy."

Amelia smiled and said, "If I can trust that your family won't fall upon him because of his title and will instead see him as any other child, then I have absolutely no problems with having play dates with your children."

Molly asserted, "Don't worry, you have my word."

Amelia replied, "Thank You. I appreciate it greatly."

A few minutes later, Amelia called her kids to come along as they needed to get Harry's glasses and they obeyed happily after saying goodbye to Ron, Mrs. Weasley, and a small red haired girl Ginny Weasley who was Ron's sister.

Sometime later, Amelia parked her car in front of the Leaky Cauldron. She got out of the driver's seat and proceeded to dress Harry in a raincoat, the hood covering his head as much as possible, and a cap which successfully concealed his scar. She dressed Susan in the same manner, just in case.

"Do not remove your hood or your cap at any point of time until we're back in the car," Amelia said as she locked the car doors after getting the kids out.

Holding the children's hands, Amelia walked into the Leaky Cauldron. As many eyes turned to look upon her and her children, she walked quickly as fast as she could. Although a few people stared hard, no one could recognize Harry Potter all thanks to the way he was dressed up.

And a few minutes later, without any incidents, they were in an optical shop, and Harry was insisting on a pair of round glasses.

Amelia asked, "Harry, are you sure you want that frame? Come on, there's so many nice ones."

Harry smilingly replied, "Daddy had these glasses."

Amelia smiled at that. If that pair reminded Harry of his loving father James, then there was no doubt that he would want it.

After checking Harry's eye power and determining the power of the lens required, Amelia bought two pairs of the frame that Harry had selected with the specified power. It would be good to have a spare pair, just in case.

On the way out of Diagon Alley, Amelia carried Harry and Susan each on one hip. Luckily, no one paid much attention to the children as they passed through the Leaky Cauldron this time. Amelia made sure to buy a couple of sandwiches before settling the children in their booster seats and getting into the car to drive back home.
