DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN HARRY POTTER.
Amelia was fast asleep in bed with Sirius. However, it was not a peaceful sleep.
It was still the month of June. Sirius was still in Azkaban. Amelia had only just had Harry for a few days and now after a play date with the Weasleys, Dumbledore and Snape had arrived at the Bones Residence. Dumbledore had told her that Harry needed to go back to the Dursleys and that Sirius had been the one to betray the Potters as their secret keeper. He had explained to her the prophecy and why Harry had to stay with the Dursleys.
He was sitting in the armchair in the living room, opposite Amelia on the couch, and was saying, "Please understand, Harry needs to go back to the Dursleys."
However, this time, after a few moments of silence, Amelia looked at Dumbledore respectfully and said, "You are right. I was mistaken in assuming that Harry was not safe there. You are right. Harry must go back to the Dursleys for his own safety. I understand now that I was wrong about Sirius. I will take Harry back to the Dursleys tomorrow."
The surroundings changed and now, it was already the next day and Amelia was standing in front of No. 4 Privet Drive, having just brought Harry back to his aunt and uncle.
Harry was crying and he wailed, "Aunty, don't go! Don't give me back! I'm sorry! I'll be good! Aunty, please don't leave me!"
Amelia looked sternly at Harry and said, "This is for your own good. You are safe here. You have to stay with the Dursleys. Be a good boy and don't try and run away from them."
And with that, she left Harry on the doorstep and went away.
Amelia was now standing in what seemed to be a large house. She was in one of the rooms, looking at Nymphadora Tonks, who was looking older and was an auror, and at a young boy, Harry, who seemed to be around fifteen.
Tonks was saying, "Harry, don't worry. Madam Bones is a fair woman, she'll hear you out."
Harry suddenly looked at her and asked, "Do you have a picture of her?"
Tonks pulled out a photo and showed it to Harry.
Harry looked at it for a few moments and his expression turned into one of resentment, anger and sorrow.
He spat, "Her?! Amelia Bones?! She is a heartless woman! She left me!"
Amelia was looking at Harry just outside the courtroom after a trial.
She said, "Mr. Potter, good day to you. How are you doing?"
Harry did not even look at her. He just stared at the floor.
Amelia raised her voice slightly and sternly said, "Mr. Potter, I asked you a question. Answer me. You do not disrespect your elders like this."
And then, Harry looked up at her.
Amelia could see nothing but anger on his face.
He yelled, "Like you care for me! You were never there for me when I needed you! You left me to live with the Dursleys! You didn't want me! Why? Tell me that!"
Amelia said, "You had to stay there for your own safety. And be grateful. They have raised you after all."
Harry yelled, "I have no reason to be grateful to them! All I've known from them is scorn and hatred! While you and Susan had a lovely time together, I was pushed down and told that I didn't deserve to be loved! You were the only one who showed me any affection, and then, you abandoned me! You're no better than them! You're no better than Voldemort!"
Amelia opened her mouth in shock as she heard this.
And then, she heard Harry yelling, "YOU ABANDONED ME! I HATE YOU!"
She saw tears in his eyes as he yelled at her.
Amelia was at her home, with Lord Voldemort standing in front of her.
He had a frightening face, with slits for nostrils and blood red eyes.
He declared, "Now, Amelia Bones, prepare to die. Soon, Dumbledore shall fall, and then, your niece and Harry Potter shall die by my hand. AVADA KEDAVRA!"
The next thing Amelia saw was a small boy in a cupboard, locked inside, Harry, crying for his Aunt Ami.
He wailed, "Aunty, why did you leave me and go away?"
And then, he was looking into her face.
And he said, "Mummy, why did you leave me?"
That statement broke Amelia's heart.
Next, Amelia found herself in a clear area with short grass and scattered trees, with the weather becoming dark and stormy.
Standing before her was a woman with red hair, Lily, glaring at her.
Even as thunder rumbled and the wind blew with an eerie sound, Lily shouted, "How could you leave Harry like that?! I trusted you! He trusted you! Harry trusted you! And you abandoned him!"
Amelia said, "Lily, please, I…"
Lily screamed, "You knew Harry needed you and yet you cruelly cast him out of your home! You gave him away to my cruel sister! You're cruel, heartless! You were my friend, and you betrayed me! Harry loved you, felt safe with you, protected by you, and you betrayed him by abandoning him after having promised not to! I'll never forgive you for what you did to Harry!"
Amelia woke up and instantly sat up in horror.
"No!" She whispered in horror as she gasped, tears coming to her eyes at the thought of abandoning her baby boy.
Just then, she heard Sirius whispering, "Amy, are you okay?"
Amelia turned to Sirius who was sitting next to her in bed and whispered, "I had a nightmare."
Sirius wrapped an arm around her and asked, "What was it about?"
Amelia, struggling not to break down whispered, "I dreamt that I… Harry… I left him. I abandoned him. I gave him back to the Dursleys. I left him. I abandoned him!"
With that, she burst into tears and Sirius wrapped his arms around her, trying to comfort her.
A few minutes later, Amelia calmed down.
Sirius said, "Amy, it's only a dream. I know you'd never abandon Harry or Susan like that. I just took Dumbledore's word for it and gave Harry to Hagrid and sent him to the Dursleys instead of going to him and talking it out with him like I should have. But you didn't just talk it out with him and refuse, you actually yelled at him for Harry."
Amelia whispered, "Dumbledore is a good man, but he was too concerned about his blood protection at that time."
Sirius replied, "I know. Well after you made him realize what Harry had been through, he helped you to get custody and get me out of prison."
Just then, they heard crying coming from the bedroom where Harry and Susan were sleeping.
Amelia and Sirius rushed over in their nightclothes to find Harry bawling in bed, and Susan calling out, "MUMMY, DADDY HELP!"
Amelia flung herself on the bed and enveloped Harry in her arms crying out, "Oh my poor baby! Baby, I've got you. Mummy's got you. Mummy's here. Don't weep my baby. I've got you, baby, baby, my poor baby."
Harry cried into her bosom even as Susan wrapped her arms around Harry. Sirius sat down and held his children.
A minute later, Amelia asked, "Harry, did you have a bad dream?"
Harry tearfully nodded and wailed, "Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia came back and you and Daddy were mad and said you don't want me and Susie, and you left me and Susie with them. And then we had to sleep in the cupboard."
He burst into sobs upon finishing.
Amelia wrapped him and held him crying out, "Oh my baby, my baby, my poor baby! I would never ever do that to you. You and Susan are my babies and we will never ever leave you."
Sirius hugged Harry and Susan and said, "Harry, I will never ever give you up to anyone, same with Susan. Both of you are my lovely children and I love you."
Susan hugged Harry and said, "Mummy and Daddy love you and me. And they will get Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia arrested."
Amelia said, "I love you baby Susan. And Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia are already in jail."
"Oh," Susan said.
Amelia turned to Harry and whispered, "Baby, don't ever hesitate to tell Daddy and Mummy if you feel afraid of something like this. And it's only a bad dream. It will never happen. We want both you and Susan and we will never ever leave you and go away."
With that, she hugged both Harry and Susan and kissed their cheeks.
Sirius kissed Harry's and Susan's foreheads and said, "Harry, James your Dada would not have made me your godfather if he thought I would do that to you. Your Mama trusted me to take care of you, and I will. We will take care of both you and Susan."
Harry hugged Sirius and Amelia, and Susan hugged him.
They all hugged each other, sitting on the bed, as the sun rose and the second day of their stay in Hawaii began.
