George And The 5 Great Lakes
It is a peaceful day in the Great Big Harbour. George the biggest tug was getting ready for his job. He was to help Constance with patrolling the harbour for the morning. Usually, Foduck was to patrol with Constance, but today, he was with Pearl and Petra with a big container ship.
On that day, George was listening to one of Constance's stories. This one is all about the 5 great lakes. "Wow," said George. He's nearly been to every place in the world, but not everywhere.
"They are called Lake Superior, Lake Erie, Lake Ontario, Lake Michigan and Lake Huron," Constance said, "But Superior is the biggest of all. They are on the borders of the USA and Canada. The east side."
For most of the time, Constance told many stories about the great lakes. "I like to see these great lakes myself," George said to himself. But he knew he had a lot of work to do in the Big Harbour. So, that's what he had to do.
Next they checked Shipwreck Rock. "Every boat is safe," George declared. "You mean no boats around here," Constance corrected. As they turned to leave, George noticed something behind a rock as the two left Shipwreck Rock. Soon enough, at noon, the two departed for their own jobs.
When George was moving a big barge later that day, after Constance had gone on her own way, George noticed something behind a rock. He saw the back of a vessel, but he didn't bother with it.
Next, George stopped at Willy's Island to say hello to Lily the Lighthouse. He delivered some important goods and continued on his way, only to see the mysterious vessel behind an island. George was curious about it.
Soon enough, everyone returned to their docks when the day had ended. "Hi George," said Theodore as George docked in for the night. "Well, good night Theodore, George," Northumberland said as he started his night shift. Theodore, George and the other tugboats settled down for the night.
They all said 'good night' to each other and fell asleep. However, the mysterious vessel from earlier that day had quietly slipped into the Great Big Harbour.
It is Oliver the Vast, a mean tug who once came to the harbour and he had bullied Theodore. "Step one of my revenge is starting," Oliver sneered as he approached the sleeping tugs. He has other ideas.
He quietly tied his towline onto George and he took him away from the docks. It is clear that Oliver iskidnapping George. But George did not wake up at all as Oliver did it so silently.
The next morning, Theodore woke up to see that George is missing. "Oh no!" said Theodore. Foduck woke up next. Then Emily and lastly, Hank. "What the deal today?" asked Hank, "I'm last!" "George is missing!" Foduck shouted, blasting his emergency siren. "Oh, my," said Emily. "It happened again!" said Foduck. They all could see that George is missing.
Right now, George is far away from the Great Big Harbour. George woke up to find he's not at his home anymore. "Where is this?!" George cried. He was on Lake Ontario, but George didn't know that.
Only to see a sign on the shoreline saying 'Lake Ontario'. "Oh, I see," said George, "Wait a minute. Is this one of them?" George took one big look around. This is one of the five great lakes. "Wow," he said in amazement, "I can't believe I'm actually here! This place is amazing!"
That second, George decided to go exploring, moving further away from home. Meanwhile, back at the Big Harbour, the tugs were looking for George. "George!" they all cried. "Where are you?" Rebecca called out. She and Theodore were out in the open ocean searching for George. And Hank and Emily went out to Owan to ask if he's seen George. Unfortunately, he didn't.
George enjoyed exploring Lake Ontario and eventually moved out to Lake Erie. "Will I ever get home?" he asked. But secretly, George was enjoying his visit at the Great Lakes. "I've enjoyed Lake Ontario, and now Erie will be a snap!"
George explored Lake Erie and a few days later, George is now in Lake Huron after he next visited Lake Michigan. "I like this adventure!" George said, but he was careful not to go into any forbidden zones.
Back at the harbour, the tugboats were still looking for George.
By now, George had been gone for days. At the same time, George was finishing his visit in Lake Michigan and now, George has one more lake to visit: Lake Superior. So George went all the way out to Lake Superior. He found out it is the biggest of all the other Great Lakes. "Wow," George said, "It's like a ocean! This is amazing!"
After exploring most of Lake Superior, he had ran into two familiar figures out in the middle of the lake. "Who?" George asked and moved in closer. There he met Stewiacke and Pugwash who were exploring the biggest Great Lake of all. The two saw George and floated towards him. "What are you doing out here?" asked Pugwash.
"I came here to visit these lakes," George explained, "I don't know how I even got here in the first place. But now, I want to go home. And actually, I kind of like visiting these lakes, but I still want to go home!"
"Well, let's get you back to the Big Harbour," said Pugwash. And Stewiacke, Pugwash and George all traveled back through the way the came.
Finally after going back the way they came, they were all out in the open ocean almost a week later.
For almost 2 weeks, Theodore and Rebecca were still looking for George. "This is impossible!" Theodore said, "But we can't give up!" Rebecca agreed, and then they herd a ships' horn.
It is Stewiacke. "George!" said Theodore. "Well, it's been a long time, Theodore," said George. Foduck, Emily and Hank soon came up. "We've been worried about you, George," they said. "Yes, but guess what? I have visited all 5 great lakes," explained George.
"You have?" said Constance as she came up. "Well, here the fact," Foduck said, "George had been kidnapped!" The tugs gasped. "Who would do something like that?" asked Emily.
"Someone who wants revenge on us," Foduck suggested, "So we'd better keep on guard." Nonetheless, the tugs were glad George is back. Safe and sound.
There is another story involving Oliver, but that's another story for another day. So at the tugboat dock, George was telling everyone his adventures at the 5 great lakes. It is a long story.
