Foduck Has A Problem
One bright day, Theodore was bringing in a cargo ship, loaded with machinery when Foduck came alongside to take a look at the ship. His radar scanned the ship from the top. His underwater sonar scanned the ship from the bottom and he checked to make sure everything is safe. "All safe!" he declared, "Proceed." Theodore then towed the ship into one of the harbour's loading docks.
Later, Foduck was with Digby, as he was digging up his old cables and laying new ones in their place. "Careful now," said Foduck with caution. Theodore passed by, saying, "Good luck." But then, some of Digby's old cables got caught between some rocks. "Keep it steady," said Foduck, cautiously.
Then, there was trouble. As Northumberland rose up to see what he could do to help, Digby began jerking his cable winch. Just as he did so, smoke started to rise up out from Digby's cable winch. "Digby, you're cables are stuck!" shouted Northumberland. "Wha?!" said Digby, but it was too late.
Then, with a spark, fire blasted from Digby's cable winch. "Dive, dive, dive!" Northumberland shouted trying to get out of the way. "FIRE!" shouted Foduck. He turned on his radar, and his sonar immediately. "Help me!" Digby shouted. Foduck quickly used his fire nozzle and set it to full blast and fired water at Digby.
Soon, the fire was out, but Digby's cable winch was damaged, but luckily, Digby wasn't hurt. "You can't do anymore work today," Foduck told Digby. "Barnacles!" groaned Digby. The job was not completed. But there was no other choice. Foduck towed Digby to the repair docks.
Digby was so disappointed about what had happened; he didn't notice that there was smoke coming from Foduck's engine room as well.
Meanwhile, George was towing Bobby the barge out to sea. He was going to clean up the ocean floor with him. "Must be a better job than this," he said to himself.
At sundown, Foduck was working with Theodore. They were both towing Emma Sophia, the cargo ship into the harbour. But suddenly smoke billowed from inside Emma Sophia's cargo hold. Then, it erupted into fire.
"FIRE!" shouted Foduck. He turned on his sonar, his radar and his searchlights immediately and used his fire nozzle to blast Emma Sophia with full power. Soon the fire inside Emma Sophia was out.
But her cargo was destroyed. Theodore was about to find out what caused the fire when he heard a strange sound coming from Foduck. "What's happening?!" cried Foduck in alarm. His radar sparked out, his sonar burned out, and his searchlights blew out. "Oh no! Foduck!" cried Theodore, "Your up-to-date- safety equipment had gone!"
It's true, Foduck's sonar, radar and additional searchlights have all blown out. Foduck could not use them anymore. But luckily, his engine still works and so does his fire nozzles.
"Foduck," asked Theodore, "What happened to you?" "My safety equipment has had a meltdown," replied Foduck sadly. "Oh no," sighed Theodore.
First, Theodore had to tow Emma Sophia to the repair docks. Constance came floating by. "Uh, Constance?" called Theodore. Constance turned towards Theodore. "Emma Sophia had an accident," Theodore explained, "Fire burst out of her cargo hold. Could you check to find out what started the fire?" "Sure," Constance replied, "I will." Constance checked the ship.
"Hey, Theodore?" a voice said. It was Digby. "What are you here for?" asked Theodore. "Burning my cables and winch," replied Digby, "That was my fault." "Oh," said Theodore, sadly.
Theodore then returned to Great Ocean Tug docks with a limping Foduck. The Dispatcher saw Foduck coming towards him. "Hello, Foduck," he said, "How was job-" "Sir," said Foduck weakly, "Don't talk to me." When Foduck passed by, but sparks shout out from his radar. "Oh, that's smarts!" the Dispatcher shuddered. But he was concerned for Foduck. However, nearby, there were two delighted dark vessels who saw an opportunity.
Meanwhile, Emily was towing Bayswater the Barge out towards where Owan is working with a load of important goods. No one knew that something was watching him from the shadows.
Later, Theodore was working with Barrington Barge when Constance approached them. "Theodore," she said. Theodore stopped in response. "Yes?" Theodore asked. "You've asked me if I could find out what caused the fire in Emma Sophia," she answered, "And I have found out what did." Theodore listened.
"I found the remains of an explosive inside Emma Sophia's hold," she replied sternly, "It was strong enough to start a fire." Theodore looked worried. For Emma Sophia and now, Foduck and Digby. "Now whoever did this will wish it never run into me," Constance added. "All right," Theodore agreed.
But there was worse to come. Two dark strangers decided to approach the Dispatcher. They both looked innocent when they approached. "Excuse me mister," said one. "What do you two want?" the Dispatcher asked sternly. "I see that you have a broken tug," said the other, "Would you like to sell him?"
"For what?" asked the Dispatcher starting to sound angry. "For scrap!" the first one answered. Foduck heard that word. "What are you two-" stammered the Dispatcher, not thinking of what to say next, until he then said, "I would never sell my tugs for scrap! You two are out of your minds!"
"It's okay, sir," said Foduck, sadly, "They can buy me." "Foduck, don't give yourself up," the Dispatcher said in a reassuring voice, "You're the official safety tug and a good friend and I'm not going to sell you!" "Not anymore," moaned Foduck, "I'm nothing now."
The Dispatcher was about to deny what Foduck said when one of the stranger interrupted him. "We'll give you 3 hours to think about it," they said as they slinked away. Theodore and Hank heard the whole conversation. "Foduck," Hank said, "For scrap?" "No way that's going to happen!" Theodore thundered, "I'm not letting it happen to our friend!"
The truth is something or someone had deliberately planted explosive inside Emma Sophia cargo hold. The same explosives were planted in the cargo that Emily is taking out to Owan the oil rig. Emily was with Sigrid when she was delivering the cargo crates to Owan the oil rig. "Thanks girls!" shouted Owan. The two turned away.
But they were no further than 300 yards when they hear a loud bang. They stopped and they turned around only to find Owan on fire! "Help!" shouted Owan. He was scared. "What should we do?" asked Sigrid. "I have no idea!" replied Emily, "But we have to do something!"
Hank floated by when he saw the fire. Hank rushed over to Emily. "What happened?!" he asked. "Owan is on fire!" explained Emily. "We have to save him!" said Sigird, "Right, you two go get help, I'll stay here and try to save Owan as best as I can!" So Emily with Bayswater, and Hank raced off to get help, knowing that only one tugboat that can help.
They raced off to get Foduck, but Hank tried to tell Emily about Foduck. "We don't have time for that!" said Emily. They got to the tugboats docks. "Sir?" asked Emily. "Yes?" said the Dispatcher. "Owan is on fire!" Emily explained, "We need Foduck now!" "Yes, I'll tell him," said the Dispatcher, as he turned to Foduck.
Foduck turned around. "Yes sir?" Foduck replied weakly. "There is an emergency," explained the Dispatcher, "And you must go out and help." Theodore came alongside to encourage Foduck. "Come on, Foduck," he said, "You can do it." "This might be my last rescue mission," said Foduck weakly, "But I'm not going to let Owan get hurt!"
Foduck turned on his engine and raced to the though now, there is something wrong with his engine.
Theodore explained the problem to Emily and Hank. "His safety equipment broke and recently, two weird boats tried to talk the Dispatcher into selling Foduck for scrap," Theodore explained to Emily and Constance as they raced to the rescue.
However, that's all they heard. Emily, Hank, Theodore and Foduck collected some fire barges, armed with water hoses, and raced off to the rescue. Foduck, with his engine now breaking, rushed as fast as he could.
At the time, all Sigrid could do was just to prevent the fire from getting worse. It's nearly got to Owan. "I'm burning!" he cried. "I'm trying to help!" called Sigrid. Then, Constance, Emily, Hank, Theodore and Foduck came just in time.
Emily, Theodore, and Hank used the fire barges to blast water at Owan. Then, Foduck, used his last strength to rev his engine as hard as he could and gave off a full blast of water to Owan with his fire nozzle. Owan was afraid, but the tugs never gave up, especially Foduck. His engine was breaking and banging, but he didn't care about that know, as he knew he had to save Owan.
Finally, the fire had been put out and Owan sighed in relief. Sigrid was delighted and Northumberland rose up. "What have I missed?" he asked. "Owan was on fire, but we saved him," said Hank. "Owan, I'm glad you're safe," said Sigrid.
Then, they all heard a loud crash. Theodore saw that Foduck's engine had broken down completely. Thick, black some bellowed from his engine room. He was in a terrible condition. "That is my last rescue operation I'll ever accomplish," he sighed, "And we all did it together."
But Theodore was worried, nonetheless. "No," he said, "It's not." Hank, Sigrid and Emily towed Owan to the repair docks as Theodore towed Foduck to the tugboats docks. Constance followed Owan to find out what set off the fire again.
Theodore arrived at the tugboats dock with Foduck. "Foduck, are you all right?" the Dispatcher asked, worried. "No sir, I'm ready for scrap now," Foduck replied. Theodore was about to protest when the two strangers puffed up. "Okay, times up," said one. Theodore snarled at the two strangers.
"Have you made up you're mind?" the other asked. "Sir," said Theodore, "Please don't sell Foduck." "He's been a good tug and I trust him," said Hank as soon as he came back from moving Owan, "He may be serious and stern, but he has a good heart and he cares for others, and if you sell him, all that rescue actions he did wouldn't matter anymore. Don't sell Foduck!"
The Dispatcher stood still for a moment and remembered what Foduck had done. He looked at Owan, who is now at the repair docks, and Emma Sophia and Digby.
1 minute passed. "Do we have a deal?" one of the boats said.
The Dispatcher looked at the boats with an angry face. "Look here you two, Foduck is my safety tugboat and he cares for others, and I'm not selling him to devils like you two!" the Dispatcher shouted at the boats severely, "I'm not selling Foduck, so we don't have a deal! You two have a twisted minds! Now get out!"
"What?" the two boats replied simultaneously, "We're not leaving without crash bucket!" And they tried to grab Foduck, but Theodore responded and slammed the boats towards against the docks, breaking their engines in the process. "Don't you hurt my friend!" he shouted at the two dark strangers.
"Yes!" Hank agreed, striking them as well. Immediately, Constance, who had seen everything, arrived and took the two boats away.
"You two are coming with me," she said sternly, "Oh, Theodore, Foduck, Hank and the Dispatcher, I have found pieces of an explosive on Owan. It was hidden inside a crate he was loading. It was the same as the one in Emma Sophia's cargo hold." Theodore, Hank and Foduck were shocked.
"What is going on?!" cried Hank. "I don't know, but we have to find out," replied Theodore, "But thanks for telling us that, Constance."
"You're welcome," Constance replied, then turning to the two damaged strangers, "Now you two are coming with me!" Constance then removed the two boats from sight.
"You have not seen the last of us!" they cried. "Yes we have," Hank replied. "Thank you, sir," Foduck said to the Dispatcher."Thank you," said Theodore, "For standing up for Foduck."
Immediately, the Dispatcher ordered Theodore and Hank to tow Foduck to the repair docks. "Wow," Hank said, "Never heard the Dispatcher get that angry." "Agreed," Theodore replied.
However, Emma Sophia, Owan and Digby were already getting repaired and so the repairs took a long time for Foduck. Theodore, Emily, Hank and George had to do a lot of work to make money to pay for the repairs. And they have to make thousands of dollars.
2 weeks had passed and the repairs were completed on everyone. Emma Sophia had been released and set off on her next trip. Owan returned to his job of drilling for oil out in the open ocean. Digby resumed his job he had not done in 2 weeks.
And finally, Foduck had his engine repaired, and his safety equipment working again. He was happy and Theodore was the happiest of all. Foduck started his safety patrol again as a happy tug. But he now only uses his radar, his sonar and his searchlights in real emergencies that require them.
Theodore was indeed happy for his friend. "I'll take better care of myself," Foduck said to his friends, "As well as everyone here." "Agreed," everyone answered.
