Northumberland And Pugwash
It was a peaceful day in the big harbour and everyone was busy. Today, Stewiacke, the salvage ship and Pugwash, the mini sub were visiting the harbour to discover an underwater trench near Ceilidh's Cove. Pugwash always wanted to explore it.
"I want to find mysterious things down in that trench," Pugwash told Stewiacke. "I know you want to," Stewiacke replied, "All right, let's go." The salvage ship took Pugwash right to Ceilidh's Cove. Pugwash was excited.
The two met Truro the fishing trawler, who told them about the trench. "Who knows what could be down there?" said Truro. "But I will find out today," announced Pugwash. "I will keep track of her," said Stewiacke as Pugwash prepared to dive. Just then, Northumberland the submarine came into the sight of Stewiacke and Truro.
"Hello," he said. Dorothy the Dory heard Northumberland and wanted to see the underwater explorers. "Good luck," said Dorothy. "Diving," announced Northumberland and Pugwash together.
As the two submarines dove deeper, back in the big harbour, Theodore had finished docking Clementine. Foduck rushed up to him, stopping before his bumpers. "Sorry," said Foduck, "But guess what?" "What is it?" asked Theodore. "Stewiacke and Pugwash are visiting today!" said Foduck out loud.
Theodore was excited. "Where are they?" he asked. "Out near Ceilidh's Cove," said Foduck, "They're discovering an underwater trench." Theodore didn't know what a trench was, but he set off towards Ceilidh's Cove nonetheless. "Oh well?" Clementine replied. "Yeah," Foduck agreed, "Well, time to move Guysborough now."
When Theodore got there, he met Stewiacke, Truro and Dorothy. And Theodore couldn't wait to meet Pugwash as well. "She is exploring the trench now," said Stewiacke. "Ok," Theodore replied.
Pugwash and Northumberland dove deeper and deeper into the depths of the ocean. They couldn't see the big trench at the moment. But then, they saw what looks like a long scar on the ocean floor. The two submarines headed towards it. It was the underwater trench near Ceilidh's Cove.
"Trench ahead!" called Northumberland. Pugwash gone ahead to explore the trench while Northumberland cruised along by himself, slowly. Just then, there was a muffled rumbling sound. Pugwash turned back to see an underwater rockslide heading towards Northumberland.
"Oh no!" she cried. Northumberland didn't take any noticed of the rockslide. "Northumberland!" cried Pugwash out loud. She headed straight towards Northumberland. Northumberland was happily cruising the deep ocean.
Then he saw Pugwash in front of him. "Look out!" she cried. She headed towards Northumberland, bumped him hard and pushed him out of the rockslide's way.
As soon as they were clear, the rocks violently thundered behind her. They crashed in the trench. Northumberland was shaken, but relieved in the end. He knew what Pugwash had to do to save him.
"Are you okay?" Pugwash asked Northumberland in a shaky voice, "I'm sorry I-" "Don't worry about it," said Northumberland, who knows what would have happened if you weren't here." "I know," said Pugwash. "I think that's enough exploring for now," Northumberland declared at last. "Agreed," Pugwash replied.
Later, after they both submerged, Theodore was happy to see them. But once he headed toward them, Pugwash floated off by herself. "What's wrong with her?" asked Theodore.
"She had to push me out of a rockslide or I would have been crushed," Northumberland explained, "There was a rockslide. She said she never bumps anyone anymore.
Must have gotten her feelings down when she pushed me out of the way to save me." "I see," Theodore said, "You're lucky." "I am," Northumberland agreed, "But what about Pugwash?" "I'll talk to her," Theodore said. "Ok," Northumberland replied.
Sometime later in the Big Harbour, Theodore met Pugwash. "Hey Pugwash," said Theodore. "Yes?" said Pugwash. "I know you never bump anyone anymore," Theodore said, "But Northumberland told me you had to in order to save him. You didn't mean to be mean to him."
"I wish I could understand that," Pugwash said, sadly, but not too sad. "You've got to," said Theodore, "Let's head back to the harbour for now." "Okay," said Pugwash and they did. But Pugwash couldn't take her mind off the incident, no matter how much Theodore tried to help her.
A few minutes later, Theodore was moving a small barge and Pugwash was resting at a small dock when they heard a ships horn.
It was Olympia, a big oil tanker. She was out of control and heading right towards Pugwash. "Ship on the loose!" George shouted. He couldn't catch Olympia in time. Northumberland had returned to the big harbour, just in time to see Olympia heading right towards Pugwash.
"Pugwash!" cried Northumberland, "Get out of the way!" Pugwash heard Northumberland and turned to see the big oil tanker. But she couldn't move in time, so Northumberland headed towards Pugwash as fast as he could.
He then bumped Pugwash right out of the ships way. After a moment, Pugwash turned around, only to see the oil tanker crashing into Northumberland and pressed him against the docks, instantly crushing him in the process.
"Oh no!" cried Pugwash. "Pugwash," Northumberland called, "We have to do things we don't want to do in order to help one of another," he said as the ship crushed him more. Pugwash was shocked.
So she tried to push against Olympia's hull to move her away from Northumberland. Finally, after one minute, she manages to move Olympia off of Northumberland. Then, the big oil tanker's engine broke down as George finally arrived.
"How's that for stopping?" chuckled George. "I'm sorry!" cried Olympia. But George didn't laugh at Northumberland's condition. He had a giant dent on his side and he was scratched all over, now in danger of sinking. Pugwash floated next to him.
"Nothumberland," she said, quietly, "Sorry about before and I'm, sorry about your condition now." "I understand," said Northumberland, "We're now even. I'm glad this didn't happen to you." "Oh, Northumberland," sighed Pugwash.
Soon, Theodore and Hank brought Barrington and Bobby barge to put Northumberland on a ship barge and took him to the repair docks. Emily and Foduck took Olympia to the repair docks as well. A few days later, Northumberland had been repaired and back to his old self.
Also, Olympia had been sent on her way. Pugwash headed up to him. "Northumberland," she said, "I said I never wanted to bump you ever again. We now know that we both did that, but it was for the better."
"We've saved each other's lives," Northumberland said, "And that's the most important thing of all." And they both agreed. "Let's make sure neither of us bumps each other for fun anymore," said Northumberland.
Pugwash already agreed to that. Foduck remember his day of bumping Theodore. "Theodore," he said, "We made the same agreement, too." "Yes," said Theodore, But I'm glad to see Pugwash happy again."
But then, Northumberland fell asleep. "This, however," said Theodore, "Will never change."
And they all laugh.
