A.N. I think I have one or more parts depending on what I decide to write next. I'm still unsure because admittedly...all this was at the spur of the moment and as such its all literally improvised writing and being made up as I go.
"Why are you here?" Void growled. She was restraining herself from drawing her weapon, lest she destroys the tombstones. Of all the times to visit the family graves, why did Bianka pick now to show up? Thunder may have been her rival, but Bianka was really the one who made her blood boil.
"I have a few reasons." The blonde told her. Pushing her hands in her pockets, she walked over to the Herrscher, only to find a lance pointed at her face. "Look, I know we aren't on the best of terms, but I need to talk to you about something and this was the only time I could meet you. You aren't exactly easy to track."
"Gee, I wonder why." Void deadpanned. "How did you even find me? I thought you were visiting family or something."
"I was," Bianka answered softly. "Then I heard from Amber that two large Honkai signatures were nearby. I figured it might be you two at best. Thought now would be the best time to catch you."
"And here I thought I was being stealthy." Void responded dryly.
"You're a creature of habit. You have patterns and once someone learns them, you're easy to figure out." Bianka smirked. "You wear your heart on your sleeve, you don't hide your dislike for anyone, but those you care about, you treasure them dearly, long after they pass." She noted.
"Can you get to the point of why you're here?" Void growled.
Bianka paused in speech before turning to the Herrscher. A light chuckle escaped her lips, annoying the Herrscher to no end. When she finished Bianka looked up at the Herrscher with a soft expression. She took a deep breath.
"Void…. I'm your older sister." Bianka told her.
There was pause between the two, a moment of silence where the only thing that could be heard was the breathing of the two warriors. The first to break the silence was the snow-haired girl.
"Hehehe…..Hahahaha….HAHAHAHAA!" Void started to laugh. Bianka seemed to respond in kind, her serious expression also breaking out into to one of laughter as she also started to laugh along with the Herrscher. "That's a really funny joke." Void told Bianka. "I'd impale you right now, if I could stop laughing." Void chuckled.
"Hehe….I know." Bianka told her. "I just wanted to lighten the mood before I told you the real bad news. I figured if you didn't kill me with this one, then I could tell you the real issue." She responded.
"This better be good." Void deadpanned. Her mood change was instant. Her tone was firm as glared at Bianka.
"Well, that depends on how you view it," Bianka said as she pulled out a few photos and handed them to the Herrscher. Void's expression was stoic at first as she looked over each picture, however with each new review, her expression became one of anger, with a hint of confusion hidden under the surface.
"Who is this?" Void demanded as she choose one photo and showed it to Bianka. She was fighting back the urge to burn them all in her hands right now. This was probably some sick joke, but Void doubted Bianka would do such a thing.
"Her name is Hare and she works for World Serpent." Bianka started. Her voice then trailed off as she went into more detail about the mysterious woman. All the while Void listened intently, her brows furrowing at the story.
"I'm going to kill Otto." Void growled.
"We already did that in this timeline," Bianka told her.
"I'm going to kill him in another timeline." Void corrected.
"So what do you plan to do about her?" Bianka questioned. "Seeing as Hare is a special case, what is your next move?"
"Hehe…" The Herrscher chuckled. "I thought I was a creature of habit that can be predicted."
"I don't have any reference for your actions in this situation. Trying to figure out what you will do with any reference data, is like trying to paint while blindfolded."
"Fair enough. Well then as it stands, she's your problem now." Void told her.
"I see well I hope you can…wait what?" Bianka said in surprise.
"You heard me. Hare is your problem. I already have sisters and a new family, I don't need another headache." Void told her. "As it stands just like K423 ceased to exist in my new home, so too has Hare, so in other words, she's not my problem."
"So, you won't even try looking for her and talking to her?"
"Nope."
"Well, I can't say this wasn't expected." Bianka lamented. "Although your reaction was definitely far tamer than I expected."
"I'm happy now, I finally got my therapist back and I've put a life together for myself. That tends to help people act calmer and more level-headed." Void told her. "I've got my loving mother back, my awesome dad, and three little sisters to deal with, Bella, Sirin, and Kiana." Void expressed.
"Kiana, like the original one," Bianka noted. "I'm impressed I didn't expect you'd go and help the original, I thought you'd want to be the one and only."
"One of my earliest memories, was when OG Kiana found my container. I remember her telling my dad, about how I looked like her, that I could be her little sister. It was she who helped give me a second chance because as much as I idolize my dad, I don't think he'd have taken me in had it not been for her." Void admitted. "I'm grateful to her for what she did for me, giving me a chance at life, but the cost of chance, I feel guilty for. Perhaps if she had simply left me alone, she would be alive in this world."
"Perhaps," Durandal wondered. Durandal had more to say but held her tongue. She and the Void Herrscher had a complicated relationship, to say the least. The Herrscher of the Void tolerated her and left her alone. Their first encounters had always been one-sided in Durandal's favor, but over time Void's power grew, and with it gap closed. Soon they started fighting to a draw, often neither won due to outside parties getting involved.
They were now at a point where neither desired to fight the other but could very easily do so at the drop of hat. They had cost each other something, a toll that prevented each side from truly moving beyond their begrudged respect. Void had crippled Durandal's squadron through constant fighting, and Durandal slayed the Dominator of the Wolves.
Even if they no longer held the same animosity they once had, both had grown tired of the fighting. They both had a small, begrudged respect for each other. While they didn't excuse the other's actions, they at least understood why and how they could perform them. When you were constantly tasked with hunting a Herrscher, it should be expected she'd fight back, and if a Herrscher launches a beast against someone, it should be expected they'd fight back.
A fragile understanding, one that can break with the slightest strain. A single sentence and all shall fade away.
"What are they like? Your sisters." Bianka questioned.
"Why should I tell you?" Void snapped. "They aren't any of your business."
"Humor me, I never had much of a family like you did. I felt like at one point I did want a sister but given my life, I feel like those desires faded with time." Bianka told her.
"Hmph. I guess I can rub it in your face how awesome they are." Void told her. "Bella is as loyal as they come, she may not fully understand human customs, but she tries her hardest. Despite her nature as a Honkai Beast, she can be a real pushover, getting bullied by toddlers very easily."
"Sirin on the other hand is…. not like you'd expect. I always assumed I knew what she was like based on my memories of her but watching her grow and move past her trauma has shown me just how much she was robbed. The core didn't do justice to the person that it originated from, she's a loving sister to both Bella and Kiana. She tries her best in school now. She's remorseful for what happened, for all those that got involved in her revenge."
"She's becoming really good friends with the Major Himeko of that timeline. The two of them have big plans from what I hear, I don't remember the details but it seems like Himeko wants to explore Space or something, either way, Sirin seems fine tagging along. It's funny, I remember my Sirin persona despising Himeko, yet here the true Sirin is becoming best friends with her."
"As for Kiana, well she's a little handful but then again what kid isn't? She's always making mischief with everyone now and then but she's a good kid. She likes it when everyone is happy, and always tries her best to brighten our moods. She wants to be a fighter, but I've been trying to convince her not to go for it. Admittedly I've given her a bad habit since she got four sisters in the span of a few days, she now thinks if we bring any strange girl home, it automatically means another sister for her."
"Seriously?" Durandal questioned.
"Long story short I found another K423 Herrscher lost in the world and she had to stay with us for a while so a year. Then Thunder also made Kurikara a human form so yes, we do end up bringing random girls home."
"So hypothetically speaking if I showed up at your doorstep, she'd presume I was a new sister as well?" Durandal questioned.
"Nope. I've told her the truth about you." Void smirked. "She isn't fooled in the slightest about the so-called number one S rank Valk. To her, you're like the wicked witch of the west, the queen of hearts, the wicked stepmother, and so on." Void told her. "She'd probably tease you and annoy you for messing with her cool older sister."
"So, you fed her Herrscher propaganda, exaggerated your achievements, and wrote me off as the villain." Bianka sighed.
"Andrius is practically her overgrown fluffy dog/uncle." Void deadpanned. "Do you really think she'll like the person who in another timeline….killed her doggy?"
"Please tell me you didn't actually tell her that?"
"No, I spared her from that news. She instead thinks you were responsible for getting rid of him because you're a cat person."
"So, I'm a villain because I like cats instead of dogs, eh, I can live with that."
"Yes, deal with it." Void laughed. "Unfortunately, I could not for the life of me, get her to stay away from that wretched maid of yours. I don't know how, I don't know why, but she and Rita are close friends now, and I can't get rid of Rita because she is an innocent kid now and not a maid assassin."
To this Bianka chuckled. It seems some friendships were just fated to be. She wondered what her own Rita would say to this. She stifled the laugh when she noticed the Herrscher glaring at her, apologizing. It was clear Void did not approve of her sister's company.
"Yeah, laugh it up. I'll just let you know that if I can't get Rita away from my sister, then I'll just make sure your counterpart isn't friends with her. If not…. I'll swear off cup noodles for…eh a day or something."
"That doesn't sound like it's a big consequence."
"Shut up." Void told her.
"Still, it seems like you really are making the most of your life. I must admit I'm conflicted. On one hand, it feels like a relief to know you are happy and content, it means I have less to worry about if you snap and decide to come and rampage here. But on the other hand…." Bianka trailed off.
"You think of me as a coward who just ran away." Void finished. Bianka looked up at her. "You don't believe I deserve this."
"I didn't say that," Bianka admitted. "I considered my own situation as unfair, but I never thought about you in that regard." She confessed.
"No, of course not, you're not like that." Void noted. She was projecting again on the others. "You're a lot strong than me, mentally, at least." Void chuckled. "You know, between the two of us, I'd say you're the real Kaslana here." She acknowledged. "You keep the Oath, you continue to fight. Meanwhile, I just run to different worlds and timelines because I'm tired of it." Void admitted.
"I don't blame you. If one considers all you've been through, then it's only natural that you'd choose to go somewhere where you can get away from it all. It doesn't mean you're scared; you're just looking out for your mental health so to speak. I wonder if I would have made similar choices if placed in your position."
"We are the same." Void noted. "Two girls technically orphaned at young ages. Both our parents are gone. Both of us became powerful warriors against the Honkai and we both wield Divine Keys. Tell me Bianka, if you were given the chance to go to another world, would you take it?"
"No," Bianka whispered. "I have my duty. Though you no longer have much ties for this world, I still have my own. I will fight against the Honkai to the bitter end." Bianka told her.
"You really are a Kaslana." Void admitted. "You've got the self-sacrificial nature down, that's the one aspect about it I hate the most. It's never for yourself, always for others." She growled. "You just never think about what will happen to those who are left behind when you die. It's always about the war against Honkai, always about 'the Good of Mankind, or the survival of Humanity'."
Void sighed. This was like beating a dead horse. "Tell me Bianka, if you didn't have your duty as a Valk, you didn't have to fight the Honkai, what would you rather do with your life?" Void questioned
Bianka looked at her, pondering for a moment. It was a question she had never considered, nor one she had ever been asked. When she looked back, it had always been about fighting the Honkai and saving humanity. "I don't know," Bianka told her. "I can't imagine doing anything else."
"That's a really bad mindset to have, especially when the job you do is one where people die young." Void told her. "I've made it my goal to ensure that neither Kiana nor Sirin considers going into this war. War benefits no one, I'd much rather the two of them lead happy and meaningful lives of their own rather than a senseless fight like you and all the other Valks." Void admitted.
"A happy and meaningful life." Bianka repeated. "If you think my life isn't like that then you're mistaken. I am content with what I have."
"Even if you are content, a good sister would not want her siblings to die young. Nor would any sister want them to experience the traumas of war. I want Kiana and Sirin to have…. lives for themselves, where they don't have to suffer or possibly die for people who may never know their names, where the good of humanity is someone else's problem."
"Your problem." Bianka mused. "I doubt you'd trust it with anyone else. If it concerns your sisters, I can only imagine that such a declaration would mean you'd do it yourself. You'd burden yourself with the war, so they don't have to."
"Was I that obvious?"
"As I said, you're predictable. You wear your heart on your sleeve. Despite your instance about me, you are just as much a Kaslana as I am. You may have run away from here, but you're fighting over there. I'd say that counts for something."
"Hmph. You're so sickeningly sweet. Gah, now I feel bad, now I have to undo my conditioning on Kiana, so she doesn't hate you for you no reason."
"So do I take it she'll consider me a sister now."
"Don't hold your breath, I'm not making any promises. If she wants you to be a part of the family, then fine, but don't expect anything."
"I'll take what I can get."
