"Ah finally. Home sweet home." Void smiled as she looked at the window and saw her house. The other members of the Astral Expressed followed her gaze. They didn't know what to expect from someone who was supposedly a harbinger of destruction. Maybe they thought she lived in an evil palace or a giant heavily armored fortress. To their surprise thought it was nothing more than a cabin in the middle of a winter forest, not too dissimilar from Belobog.
"Wait, is that Siegfied's house?" Welt noted. He had probably heard of it several times from the reports Tesla would send him. AE was the one responsible for helping Siegfied hide from Otto and his organization.
"Well, technically he never owned it in this timeline." Void corrected. "So, seeing as it was not owned, I saved up and bought it for myself." She told him.
"Really…you bought a house?" Welt said in a perplexed manner. He didn't think the Herrscher would need one or rather would need to buy one. He just assumed she'd just kill the inhabitants in a place and take their home.
"It took me a couple weeks of working but I earned enough money to buy it on my own." Void smiles proudly.
"Just what kind of jobs did you do?" Himeko questioned.
"Do you know how beneficial the ability to teleport and make portals is in the delivery sector?" Void questioned. "I worked a ton of jobs for around a hundred different courier companies simultaneously for a few weeks. The money added up nicely."
"Wait…you mean…you used your world-ending abilities…to be a delivery girl." Dan Heng questioned.
"Yes," Void answered. "It took me a lot of effort, but I eventually managed to save enough."
"Why is that the most relatable thing I've heard all day?" Stelle pondered as she looked at the notice, she had gotten to help deliver a thesis in Belobog.
"I'll go and see if Flamescion is up. I'll bring her back shortly." Void told them as she made a portal and exited the Express.
"Seriously…she just left us." March huffed, before realizing Void had left them unguarded. "Wait…she's gone, can't we just warp away now," March suggested.
"Not likely…she locked the controls. We can't operate the train now." Himeko answered.
"Drat." March cursed under her breath.
"So does this mean that we're stuck here?" Bailu questioned. She was recovering from the Herrscher squeezing her to death in a hug, but she could still stand and help.
"If she keeps her word, we might leave soon," Welt suggested.
"Do you really think she'll be honest?" Dan Heng questioned.
"Deception isn't Sirin's style," Welt admitted. "Though I do understand your point. We shouldn't let our guard down. Any of us." He told the other members of the crew.
"I think we should see if we can split up." Serval interrupted. "A few of us will go with Void to meet Flamescion. The kids, Himeko and I will stay on the train and try to get it up and running." She explained. "If the system comes online, Himeko can warp the kids out of here."
"Hey, we can help too." Hook huffed.
"I know you can Hook." Serval smiled at the young girl. "That's why you need to stay here," she instructed. "We need the train operational to escape but we also need to distract the Herrscher. While we distract her you can lead the others to fixing the train and escaping." Serval told the kids.
"I don't like it, but I can see why you'd suggest that," March answered quietly. She'd rather not stay with the Herrscher any longer but Serval was right, getting the kids away from the Herrscher was a priority. "So I guess that means we're distracting her?" March sighed.
"Uh, Ms. March…I don't think that will be a problem." Clara said as she looked at the nearby window. Void had just stepped out when lightning flashed. A figure emerged from the lightning with a blade poised ready to strike the Herrscher. Void didn't see it coming and soon after she was….
"Cover their eyes," Himeko ordered Serval, Himeko, and Stelle to cover the Bailu, Clara, and Hook's eyes. Dan Heng meanwhile covered March's and Welt covered Pom-Pom. The remaining crew saw the blood of their kidnapper paint the window entirely as she was impaled by the newcomer.
"Mei," Welt muttered as he saw the Herrscher launch Void's body away with her sword before following after it.
"WHAT THE HECK! WHO THE HECK WAS THAT?" March exclaimed.
"That would be Raiden Mei, the Herrscher of Thunder." Welt explained.
"Another one?" Serval questioned. "How many Herrschers are there?"
"Um…I don't know." Welt said. "Last I checked there were around 16 Herrschers maybe more now. Of course, that's just counting the Current Era, the Previous Era also had 13 as well."
"Previous Era?" Himeko asked.
"It's a complicated story," Welt told them. "But that's beside the point, we need to get out and see what's happening, hopefully, there aren't any monsters around that might attack us," Welt told them.
"DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT TIME IT IS?" Thunder screamed as she zapped Void across the sky.
"1 a.m." Void guessed.
"IT'S 3 A.M." Thunder yelled. "I just got her to sleep, and you just had to wake them up." She told Void.
"Wait," Void questioned. She had just put her to sleep…was she referring to Flamescion or someone else? "Who did you put to sleep?" She asked.
"KIANA," Thunder yelled.
"Which one…that doesn't exactly narrow it down." Void nonchalantly responded while Thunder dug her nails into her arm.
"THE SMALL ONE." She screamed as she swung Void around and flung her into the ground.
"Oh," Void answered.
"I don't see any monsters," Stelle notes as she rests her bat on her shoulder. The group was now standing outside the train watching the lightning flash in the distance. This had to be a record. The fastest time a fight broke off upon landing in a new world.
"Something feels off….the air here…it feels different." Dan Heng noticed.
"The Honkai," Welt explained. "It's the source of the Herrschers' power. A poison that has plagued the world since time began." He told them.
"Is it dangerous?" March questioned.
"Very. It can poison individuals and make monsters. In my time it was stabilized by Finality, but that's not the case here." He noted. He was going to explain further but someone interrupted him.
"What's going on here?" Siegfied called as he emerged from the house brandishing a baseball bat. "Who's there?" He asked before looking at the Express crew. "Welt…is that you?" He questioned.
"Huh…greetings Siegfied," Welt answered.
"What are you doing here and why the big racket? Do you know what time it is?" Siegfied grumbled as he held up his bat.
"Uh…3 a.m." Welt guessed.
"Yes…so give me one good reason why I shouldn't make you wish you were still on the moon." Siegfied threatened.
"Um…would it help if I said I was a time traveler and a space traveler," Welt told Siegfied.
"Oh, you got to be kidding me." Siegfied grumbled as he turned and headed inside. "Come on, get inside and bring your kids with you." He told Welt.
"Siegfied…what's with all the noise. Are we being attacked?" Cecilia yawned as she balanced on the Abyss Flower. She had just woken up and was still feeling a little drowsy. She rubbed her eyes, before noticing the guests in the room. "Welt…what are you doing here and who are they?" She asked.
"They are time travelers, dear," Siegfied explained.
"Oh…so do we put up one pot of coffee or two?" She questioned.
"Technically we're also space travelers, we only traveled through time because of Void," Welt explained.
"Four it is," Cecilia said as she got to work.
"So, these are the Herrschers." Silver Wolf thought as she looked at the spectacle before her. The light show between the two Herrschers was nothing to sneeze at. They each used multiple elements, using them to lengths she had never even seen before. The Herrscher of Thunder danced with electricity and summoned numerous ice constructs to her aid against the Herrscher of the Void. The Herrscher of the Void likewise commanded the wind, and the flames and space itself to fight her opponent.
Silver had snuck off the train when the others were occupied. Now was the perfect time to go and record any data she could on the Herrschers. They, especially Void, were a threat to Elio's supposed 'perfect' outcome.
However, Silver stopped as she noticed the lights on in the house beside her. Using her visor, she took note of the individuals inside. They were the Express crew, along with the Kaslana parents, however, she could also tell there were four individuals on the top floor.
"I suppose I do have a little time." Silver thought as she as typed a few keys. Her 'friends' floated off and headed to the area where the fight had broken off, intending to scan from afar.
Now with some time to spare she quickly ran and scaled the building. She landed right next to the room with the four individuals. Resting an ear against the wall, she listened to them converse.
"Lemme go." Kiana struggled as Flamescion held her in her arms. "I wanna see what's downstairs." She whined.
"Whatever is happening down there is for grown-ups so no," Sirin told her. "Mom told us to make sure you went to sleep, so you're going to sleep," Sirin told her. "And so am I." She whispered under her breath.
"But Void's back,"
"And…."
"She brought more friends," Kiana said. "I wanna meet them."
"You can meet them tomorrow," Sirin grumbled.
"But I wanna meet them now." Kiana pouted.
"Oh bother." Sirin sighed as she looked at the little twerp in Flamescion's arms. "You know what…just take her down. I'm too tired to deal with this." Sirin groaned. "Bella…go with them and make sure nothing happens to Kiana."
"Yes, my queen." Bella saluted.
"Hard to believe she was like this when she was younger." Flamescion thought as she stared at the OG Kiana. To think this little brat of a kid would become the strongest Valk of her time.
"Come to one Kiana, let's go see who's bothering Mom and Dad," Flamescion said as she left the room with Kiana and Bella in tow.
"I swear…that kid's too spoiled at times." Sirin sighed as she lay back down on her bed. Maybe now she could get some sleep. All she needed was to close her eyes and wake up at noon the next day. She could do that.
Tap…Tap….Tap.
Sirin's eyes snapped open, glowing furiously with the Honkai. She turned her head to find the noise coming from the window. Deciding it was better to deal with it now instead of later, Sirin headed to the window and opened it, ready to give whoever disturbed her a piece of her mind.
"What?" She screamed as she opened the window.
Sirin blinked at the person before her. She then rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn't dreaming. "Silver Wolf," Sirin questioned as she looked at the girl before her.
"In the flesh." Silver said as she bowed before her gaming buddy. "Are you gonna let me in now or do I have to stand out in the cold?" She questioned.
"Uh, come in I guess," Sirin said as she moved aside and allowed Silver to enter. Her mind was still a haze.
"Nice place you got here," Silver commented as she looked around.
"How are you? How did you even find this place?" Sirin questioned as her more rational side woke up.
"Well, you see I was stowing away on this train, the one parked outside, and then I saw on the cameras that a girl who matched your sister's description appeared." Silver explained. "Before I even knew what was happening, she brought the train here," Silver told her.
"Seriously?" Sirin deadpanned. "My sister just happened to kidnap the train you stowed away on," Sirin said in disbelief.
"I mean, I knew the train had something special about it. It was the main reason I never had lag, but it seems your sister needs it now." Silver told her.
"Really…. I wonder why?" Sirin pondered. "Wait…that's not important, the better question I have is why are you even on that train."
"Didn't you hear me? It runs everything smoothly with no lag in connections." SW explained.
"Of course it does." Sirin deadpanned. "So that's how you cheat me." She grumbled.
"I don't cheat, I just have better equipment." SW chuckled.
"You have a magic train that gives you no lag." Sirin countered.
"If you want, we can sneak out and go board it," SW suggested as she stood by the window. The express was still there where the others were no doubt trying to get it up and running to leave this world.
"I'll pass," Sirin answered as she sat on her bed. "I need sleep….plus Mom will worry if I go missing again. Last time my sister took me on the trip, mom grounded us for a week because we didn't tell her."
"Fair enough." Silver wolf said as she looked around. "I'll be honest your room looks lacking compared to what I thought it would be."
"That's because it's not my room. It's only a guest room in Void's house." Sirin explained.
"Yeah….speaking of which is it usual for your sisters to want to stab each other?" SW wondered. She had seen the initial start of the fight. Void was impaled from the back with her white dress being stained red before being flung away. Yet the hacker knew well that wasn't enough to kill the girl.
"Oh, so you uh saw that…" Sirin chuckled in embarrassment.
"Everyone on the train saw that."
"Yeah….that's just Void and Thunder being themselves. The rest of my family isn't that screwed up…mostly." Sirin tried to defend. "Wait a minute you saw them fighting." Sirin realized.
"Yes," SW answered.
"And you're not surprised by their abilities?" Sirin questioned.
"Nope. I am rather amused by it. They look like some really 'fun' individuals to hang around with. I'm a little sad I didn't get to meet them soon." SW noted.
"So Welt….I see you adopted some kids of your own." Siegfied mused as he took another sip of his coffee. It was piping hot for a minute before but now it was just chilled. It would turn ice soon enough if he didn't finish drinking it. "How does Tesla feel about all this?" Siggy asked.
"Uh…they aren't my kids….and she doesn't know," Welt explained. "I was kind of separated from my world and was journeying back home. I'll be honest when we returned to Earth, I didn't expect it to be under these circumstances." He explained.
"So how exactly do you all know Mr. Welt?" March questioned.
"We once flew to the moon together in giant anime mecha." Siegfied chuckled. "Welt died, unfortunately." Siegfied joked.
"Wait what!" March exclaimed.
"So…you're a ghost." Stelle pondered. "I knew it."
"No…no my death was greatly exaggerated." Welt corrected.
"You came back by possessing said anime mech in a last-ditch effort to win the war."
"So you are a ghost." Stelle reiterated.
"No, I'm not a ghost. I just controlled the Mech with my consciousness for the time. Shortly afterward I constructed a new body for myself with the power of Reason." He explained.
"Simple animator huh…" March cast him a side glance.
"He is. Welt's organization made the anime and manga franchise to earn revenue to build the mech." Siegfied explained. "Believe me I was shocked as well."
"I see," Stelle said. "So uh….is the Mech still functional. Can I drive it?"
"We're getting off topic." Dan Heng interjected. "Void told us there was another Herrscher here."
"Ah yes…Flamescion." Cecilia noted. "I think she's sleeping upstairs with the others," Cecilia told them.
"MOM!" They heard Kiana's voice call.
"Never mind." Cecilia sighed as she turned to the stairs to see Flamescion, Bella, and Kiana. Flamescion looked the most sheepish of the trio.
"We just couldn't say no." She apologized before noticing the others in the room. "Oh hey Mr. Yang, you came to visit?" She asked.
"In a matter of speaking. It's good to see you again Kiana." He told her.
"Thanks." Both Kiana's answered.
"Uh…call me Flamescion." The herrscher told him, in order to avoid some confusion.
"I take it Flamescion is the highest level you can reach now," Welt noted.
"Yeah actually," Kiana answered before something occurred to her. "You're speaking as if this isn't my final form."
"Oh well….it isn't. You do grow a lot more powerful in the future." Welt admitted. He probably shouldn't have made such assumptions.
"Oh really, sweet," Flamescion said.
"So….does she need to get stabbed to trigger her power up?" Stelle asked only for Dan Heng to elbow her. "What, I got stabbed and got a cool fire sword and powers, and then you got stabbed and began parting to see and summoning a dragon and stuff."
"I think you're oversimplifying how we powered up." Dan Heng sighed.
"When March gets stabbed and turns into some kind of fairy princess goddess or something you better be ready to admit I was right," Stelle told him.
"Can we please not talk about me being stabbed?" March deadpanned.
"Welt….I thought my kids were messed up, but it seems like you have me beat." Siegfied chuckled.
"They are leaving out some context there," Welt told him.
"I'm sure they are."
"Well that aside, it seems Void was telling the truth," Welt noted as he stared at Kiana. "You definitely do seem to look and feel like Flamescion," Welt explained. "In which case, I believe we are definitely inclined to help you."
"Really just like that," March noted.
"Kiana is a person who sacrificed a great deal for our world, at least the future version of her does. Helping her get back home is probably the least I can do to repay her. Even then, it's also a favor to my successor to ensure her friend returns home."
"Alright, sweet, Mr. Yang's going to help me get home." Flamescion cheered.
"So we're really just picking up another passenger, just like that," March said. "Well, at least this one seems nicer," March said. "I'll go and inform Himeko about it."
"Yeah….Wait….WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?" Flamescion exclaimed.
"Oh….right." Welt mentally kicked himself. He forgot Himeko was dead in their world. Oops.
