Barrington And The Ferris Wheel
One day, Hank was pulling Barrington barge with a load of pipes. They were on their way to the oil refinery. "Nice day to deliver these pipes to the oil refinery," commented Hank.
"Agreed," replied Barrington. Normally, Theodore tows Barrington Barge to the oil refinery, but today, Theodore was busy bringing in ships with Emily and Foduck. "There you go, Barrington," said Hank, arriving at his destination. "Thanks," replied Barrington. "You're welcome," said Hank in return.
After Barrington had his loads unloaded Hank took him back. On the way, Barrington noticed something placed near dock 52. "What is that?" asked Barrington.
"I don't know," replied Hank, not knowing what Barrington is talking about. And the two continued on. The next day, it was Theodore's turn to tow Barrington barge. "Sorry about yesterday, Barrington," Theodore said, "I was really busy." "I know," replied Barrington, "So let's get going now!"
"Agreed," replied Theodore and Theodore took Barrington to get a load of pipes to take to the oil refinery. On the way, Barrington noticed the same strange thing he saw yesterday, only now, it is much larger than before. "What is that thing?" Barrington asked to himself.
After the pipes have been delivered Theodore took Barrington to do another job. But before they reached the destination, Barrington called out, "Theodore, can we stop by at dock 52?" "Ok," agreed Theodore, "We got plenty of time, but why?" "There is something that I want to see there!" answered Barrington.
"Well," Theodore replied, "Ok, I'll take you there. I thought Barrington is a nice quiet barge." Theodore said the last sentence to himself as he prepared to tow Barrington to where he wants to go. They've arrived at dock number 52 just like Barrington wanted. "Ok," Theodore began to ask a question, "So why are we here?"
"I saw something on the plain part of land near here," explained Barrington, "There it is!" Barrington saw that the strange thing was really a Ferris wheel that was getting ready to be finished. Nearby were other pieces of machinery being put together. "That's what you're interested in?" asked Theodore, "A Ferris wheel?"
"Yes," answered Barrington, "Doesn't it look great?" "Well," said Theodore, "It's under construction. I wonder what's going on here?" "Didn't you know?" a voice said. It was Foduck. "They're building a fairground here for the summer," Foduck explained, "Right now, they're still putting together the rides and attractions, as you see."
"Oh, ok," Theodore responded, "Barrington is interested in the Ferris wheel." "I see," said Foduck, and he left. Theodore decided to let Barrington stare at the unfinished Ferris wheel until it was time for them to go. "We'll come back later," said Theodore, preparing to tow Barrington away. "Ok," agreed Barrington.
"Now you're being obedient," Theodore thought to himself. Theodore and Barrington did the job they were supposed to.
In a few days, the summer fair grounds in the Great Big Harbour had been completed. Theodore took Barrington to see the now completed Ferris wheel. "There you go," said Theodore, "Completed."
"Wee!" said Barrington, excited to see the ferris wheel go round and round. "Yeah, I agree," said Theodore, "Weee!" So Barrington watched the children riding on the Ferris wheel until it was time for Barrington to go to work. For the rest of the summer, Theodore and the other tugboats took Barrington to see his favorite Ferris wheel whenever they or Barrington have free time.
Although the other attractions at the summer fair were all amazing, the Ferris wheel is Barrington's most favorite. This continued on and on throughout the summer. Barrington couldn't get enough of the Ferris wheel. Everyone else in the Great Big Harbour were all so busy that they've only saw part of the fairgrounds fun.
However, when the time for the summer fairgrounds to leave, they had to take down all of the attractions, including the Ferris wheel. Barrington was sad to see it go. "I'm sorry, Barrington," said Theodore, comforting his little friend. "It's okay," replied Barrington, "It was fun while it lasted. Shame to see it get taken down like this."
"Well, now that summer is over for the year," said Theodore, "And it's time for the fair to move on." "True," agreed Barrington. "Come on," said Theodore, "Let's go move cargo." "All right," agreed Barrington as Theodore tugged the little barge across the harbour. By the time they were finished later that day, the fair had already gone.
"See you later," Barrington, "Ferris wheel." Barrington would never see that Ferris wheel again until next year. Barrington was a little sad at first, but soon his mood changed. "I know I'll look at something else until next year!" said Barrington. Theodore smiled at his friend. "I know you will," he said.
