Hank And The Barges

One day, Hank was by himself at the Great Ocean Dock. "Ah," sighed Hank, "What a nice quiet day in the big harbour. Well, for me, anyway."

A few minutes later, the Dispatcher called Hank for the briefing. "Hank," he said. "Yes, sir?" Hank responded. "Today, you'll be moving barges," the Dispatcher told Hank, "That is all. For you. Today. You know."

"Yes, sir!" Hank replied, "One?" "All of them," the Dispatcher answered. "Great!" Hank shouted. "Begin immediately," the Dispatcher ordered. Hank did so.

The first barge Hank was going to work with was Bonnavista. "Ready?" Hank asked as soon as he got there. "Yes, Hank," answered Bonnavista. Hank set off with Bonnavista to pick up a load of crates to take to a warehouse at dock 12.

"Here, Hank," Bonnavista said when they got to the loading docks. "You know what to do," smiled Hank. Bonnavista loaded the crates and Hank took her to the said warehouse. "Here," smiled Bonnavista.

After Bonnavista unloaded the crates, Hank took her home and got prepared for the next barge, which is Guysborough. "Oh boy," said Hank, approaching the junk dock, which Guysborough lives, "I'd better be careful."

"You'd better be careful?" Guysborough said, "What about me? I'm going to do the stinky rotten job!" "Yes, I see," Hank said. He had no choice, as no other tugboat could do the job at the moment.

So Hank set off with the grumpy garbage barge to collect garbage. "I'm hoping I don't get into a smelly pit," Hank thought.

2 hours later, when Hank finished his garbage-collecting duty, it was Brunswick's turn to be towed. "Ready?" asked Hank when he hooked onto the large thrill-seeker cargo barge. "You bet!" replied Brunswick. Hank shot off forward with Brunswick. "Wee!" shouted Brunswick.

With Brunswick, Hank's job was to move large cargo crates with the barge. "Easy as pie," Hank said. "Hope something risky will happen," Brunswick said, excitedly.

3 hours passed and Hank finished his job with Brunswick. "Now to the next job," Hank said, "I wonder what it could be." "Aw," sighed Brunswick, disappointed, "Nothing risky happened." Hank was on his way to work with another barge when. "Hank," a voice called out.

Hank turned to see that it was Constance, the coast guard ship. "There's a sunken ship out near the Pictou Peaks," Constance explained, "Please take two barges to raise it up." "Yes," answered Hank. He left to get both Bobby and Shelburne. "I hope I can do this," Hank said to himself, "I have proven myself that I'm a strong tugboat! Oh, and I'm glad that you're back to normal, Shelburne."

"Thank you, Hank," Shelburne replied slowly. "Let's go!" Hank said out loud, he did try to race off, but slowly when tugging the two barges, especially Shelburne. Soon the three arrived at the place.

"Right here," the bell buoy said, marking the spot. "All right," Bobby said, "I'm ready to go!" "Ok," agreed Shelburne. "We're going to have to take this thing apart one by one," Hank explained. The two barges set to work with their cranes.

A salvage ship waited nearby, to take the shipwreck parts away. When Bobby and Shelburne grabbed a part of the shipwreck together, Hank took then to the salvage ship.

5 hours passed when the whole shipwreck had been hauled out. The salvage ship thanked Hank and the barges and took the scrap parts away while Hank took Shelburne and Bobby back to their docks. "There you go," Hank said to the two barges and he left to work with Bayswater barge.

Hank used the crane barge to move pipes at the water storage plant. Hank moved Bayswater into position. "Ready?" Hank asked. "I am!" Bayswater answered. The two set to work moving pipes and hoses from one place to another.

The job was done in no time at all.

Finally, Hank's last job of the day was to tow Barrington Barge to the oil refinery. "This is nice," said Barrington. "I know," replied Hank.

When Hank took the barge to the oil refinery, the barge collected a load of old oil barrels and took them to the dock with the shipyard shed. It was nighttime when Hank finished his job with Barrington. Hank's barge day is over. "That was fun," Hank said as he returned to his dock, "Gotta catch em' all!"

Everyone else had fallen asleep when Hank moored into his dock place, including all of the barges. "I wonder what will happen next?" Hank thought to himself.
