Emily Advances Forward

One morning, Emily woke up, ready to start another day in the Great Big Harbour. Today, she's in a good mood. "Let's get going," Emily said to herself. But she could see that all of the other tugboats are still asleep.

Then, Emily looked at the clock on Chimey. "Eh, maybe later," Emily whispered, going back to sleep.

About 60 minutes later, after the morning work meeting, Emily arrived at Shelburne's dock. The big sea barge was ready and waiting. "All right," Emily thought to herself, "Now it's time!" Shelburne's job that day was to remove parts of an old shipwreck.

When Emily arrived, Shelburne was ready to go. "Time to go to work," Emily thought to herself as she tied her towropes onto the big barge. "Let's go," Shelburne said in his slow voice. And they set off together.

About 30 minutes later, the two arrived at their destination. Well, Emily towing Shelburne, being the world's slowest barge, it took them a long time to arrive. Nautilus was there. "Good morning, Nautilus," Emily called out once she had arrived, "Sorry we're late."

"Well, that's expected," Nautilus said with a chuckle as he saw the big barge. "Time to go to work now," Emily called out suddenly. "Yes," Shelburne answered in his slow, slow voice.

Before he said that, he slowly lowered his crane mechanism into the water and started work. "This will take some time," said Emily. Nautilus said nothing. "I'm now working," Shelburne said in his slow, slow voice.

"You took the words right out of my mouth," Emily said to herself. "Well, better safe than sorry," said Nautilus. "It's all about moving forward with life," Emily said, "Well, sort of." "Eh, you'll figure it out," Nautilus replied. "Oh well," said Emily.

It was 4 minutes after Emily and Nautilus said something when Shelburne lifted the first piece of the wreck out of the water. "Yeah," said Emily, "Good job, Shelburne." "No problem," Shelburne said slowly.

About 6 hours later, Shelburne had finished his job of removing the old shipwreck. "There," Emily said. After Emily took the big barge back to his dock, she set out to help Theodore and Hank bringing in Margaree Pride. It wasn't one of her jobs for the day, but she decided to help out anyway.

Today, Margaree Pride is carrying a lot of containers. Immediately, Emily tied her towropes onto the big ship. "Thanks," said Theodore, "This ship's got a lot of cargo." "Don't you mean containers?" Hank asked. "Okay," said Theodore. "Okay, you two," Emily said with a smile in her voice, "We're ready."

So without another word, Emily helped Theodore and Hank tow Margaree Pride to a loading dock close to Clayton's dock. "Here we are," said Theodore. "Thanks," said Margaree Pride. "No problem," said Hank. "No," said Clayton, "Thank you." "Right," said Emily, "So let's be on our way."

"Right," Hank and Theodore agreed and the three friends left. Clayton started work. "Say, uh, Margaree," Clayton said, "Is that a barrel or a container?" "Who knows?" Margaree Pride answered, "Have I met you before?"

Theodore and Hank left to do their own jobs while Emily decided to go and help Foduck. Today, Foduck is inspecting all emergency horns on every ship. "These are for safety purposes," Foduck explained. "I know," said Emily, "Mine is working all right."

"Excellent," said Foduck. Foduck had already inspected 4 ships by now, including Sigrid's, so, with Emily's help, the job became much easier. "Right," Foduck said, "No time at all!" "Yeah," Emily agreed. Emily even helped Foduck with removing one emergency horn from Katherine. It was old and worn out.

"Rust," said Foduck, "Lucky thing that I've started inspection today." "That's true," said Emily. With Emily's help, Foduck had his siren inspection done in one hour. "Well, this is the exact opposite of working with Shelburne," Emily thought to herself. "Thank you, Emily," said Foduck, "With your help, the job was done quick in a flash.

Well, kind of. "You're welcome," Emily replied. "Well," said Foduck, "Good luck." "Thanks," Emily called back as she left to do another job with someone else. She immediately chose one. She saw that out in the harbour entrance, George was preparing to tow in a giant supertanker. So Emily took this opportunity to help George out. "Thanks, Emily," said George. "No problem," said Emily.

It took the two tugs 2 hours to bring in the giant ship into his dock. "Thanks," the big supertanker called down to the two tugboats. "No problem," Emily and George smiled together. "Say," said George, "You sure are being helpful today." "Thanks," said Emily as she left to do another job. "Even after I've," George thought, "I don't like to talk about it."

After docking the big supertanker, Emily helped Pearl and Petra and Millie with their jobs, too. She even helped Bedford buoy back into his spot. "There is something going on in Emily's mind," Bedford thought to himself. Emily continued on helping others for the rest of the day.

Finally, Emily helped Constance with her work and after the days work was done, the Dispatcher talked to Emily. "Emily," he told her, "You sure have been busy helping others." "Yes," said Emily. "But why?" The Dispatcher asked.

"I know it was the right and helpful thing to do," Emily explained, "It is my conscious." "Okay," said the Dispatcher, "Good work, Emily." "Thanks," Emily smiled. "Wow," Hank thought to himself. "That's a great friend," said Theodore.

After that, it was time for the tugboats to go to sleep. "There's defiantly," she thought to herself, "A chance at moving on with your life." With that said, Emily fell fast asleep.
