Emily Works It Out
One day in the Great Big Harbour, Emily is going to go to the junk dock. It was her turn to tow Guysborough around to collect garbage. It was not a pretty job, but someone had to do it. Theodore, Hank and George were out bringing in Colchester and Foduck had to take Millie to get her safety lines inspected.
"Oh well," sighed Emily, "What could possibly go wrong?" "How about gunk and goo on your head?" Guysborough asked in a rude tone. "Never mind," said Emily. "Nope," said Jasper, the junk dock. "Oh, right," said Emily.
So Emily started work immediately. After her garbage collecting job with Guysborough, Emily left to work with Nautilus and Constance. "Good morning," Emily said to the two. "Hi," Constance answered back. "Nice to see you out today, Emily," Nautilus said, "Helping us." "Yeah," said Emily, "Glad to be helping out the navy ship and the coast guard ship." "Yes," Nautilus replied.
Emily spent one hour with Constance and Nautilus. After leaving Constance and Nautilus, Emily left to do another job. Meanwhile, the other tugboats at the Great Ocean Tugboats Dock, the tugboats were discussing on their jobs that involves moving barges.
"I just moved Shelburne to a loading dock with barrels," Hank said. "Hank," said George, "I did that! You moved Barrington, who was carrying pipes!" "Oh, right," Hank replied, embarrassed, "My goof." "Well, I had Brunswick deliver a load of crates to dock 2," Theodore said.
"Yes," Foduck replied, "Did he play rough waters? Well, I worked with Bayswater and Bobby barge with moving cargo. Strange, I've rarely seen them work together." "Ok," said Theodore. The tugboats were getting ready to move a big container ship when Emily returned from showing a yacht around the big harbour. "Her name is Yancy," Emily said to her friends, "And she's just leaning our ways."
"I see," said Theodore, "Good work, Emily." "Who's Yancy?" Hank asked. This time, no one answered Hank's answer.
So, the five tugboats brought in Gloria Cornwallis who was heavily loaded with containers. All five tugboats were working hard. However, Emily is working harder than all the others. "Uh, good work, Emily?" Hank said to Emily. "No problem," Emily answered under immense strain.
"Uh oh," Foduck thought. After the tugboats had docked Gloria Cornwallis, they all left to do another job. But Foduck was concerned for Emily. "What, Foduck?" Emily said. "Emily," said Foduck, "I know you're doing a good job, but take it easy." "I will," Emily replied, "I'll take care of myself." And with that said, Emily left to do her next job. But Foduck was concerned for his friend.
"Not good," he muttered to himself. Nonetheless, Emily started to another job, moving Igloo a small oil tanker. "We've seen him many times," Emily said.
After that, Emily shifted Bingham to another spot and delivered a new set of gears to Owan. "Thank you very much!" Owan called down to Emily. "Ok," Emily answered back. After that, Emily returned to the big harbour to help Foduck to move Caroquette to dock 52. "Time to wrap this us," Emily said.
Foduck was about to say something when he noticed smoke bursting out from Emily's deck. "Oh no!" Foduck called out in alarm, blasting his emergency siren. Emily knew what is going on and backed away from Caroquette. "Oh no!" Emily shouted, "Not again!"
Too late and black smoked exploded out of Emily's smokestack. Her engine had broken down. "Is this part of the job?" Caroquette asked. "What do you think?!" Emily shouted, "Argh!" "Emergency!" Foduck cried and he sprayed Emily with his water hose. Although it helped douse the fire, the damage had already been done.
"My engine has broken down," Emily said sadly. "I was worried that something like this would happen!" Foduck exclaimed. "I know!" Emily replied, "I'm sorry, Foduck!" "You don't have to apologize to me," said Foduck, "You have to apologize to yourself. And no time for that now!"
"Ok," Emily said. So Foduck took Emily to the repair docks and told the Dispatcher what had happened. "I see," he replied, "Well, thankfully, you were quick to respond." "Thank you," said Foduck. The news spread quickly and the other tugboats heard about what had happened and were worried about Emily.
"What?" Hank was about to ask a question. "She'll be all right," Foduck said in a reassuring voice, "She needs an engine repair." "Oh, thank heavens," said Theodore. "Yeah," George replied, "I know how she feels."
"I feel sorry for Emily," Hank said sadly. "Don't worry," Foduck said, She'll be all right after her engines gets repaired. Until then, we'll have to do her jobs." "That's the least we could do," Theodore agreed.
And so, for a few days, the other tugboats did most of Emily's jobs. While thinking about Emily.
A few days later, Emily's engine had been repaired and she returned to work right away. Once she got home, she was greeted with a warm welcome back. "Welcome back," Theodore said. "Yes," Emily replied, "I'm back." "You had us worried," Hank said. "Uh huh," said Donald Dock.
"Yes," said Emily, "I'm back and ready for work!" "That's the Emily we know," said Theodore. "Right," said Emily. But she's going to be more careful on how many jobs she does at once. George agrees, too. "I'm still the strongest," George said to himself. "I heard that," said Emily.
