Emily And Gregor

One morning in the Great Big Harbour, Emily and Hank had finished docking Annapolis, a big cargo ship. "There," said Emily, "Docked and secured." "Thanks," said Annapolis. "I'll take over now," said Clayton, preparing to unload Annapolis. "Thanks," said Emily. "Yes," said Hank.

"Glad you took care of that job together," Theodore said, pulling Bobby the barge. "Right," said Emily, "And now, I got extra time." "Time for what?" Laurie, who was standing beside Theodore, asked. "Seeing a group of trawlers," Emily answered, "They're visiting from Russia." "I see," said Hank. "Yes, nice," Bobby agreed.

Just then, George puffed up. "Hey," said George, "You two!" "Yes," Theodore and Hank called back. "Whoa," Laurie thought. "The Dispatcher wants to see you two," George told the two little tugs. "Oh, right," Theodore replied, "Right George. Let me take Bobby home first."

"Yes," said Laurie, "Then I'm going to meet up with my friends." "That's smart thinking," said George. "Friends?" Hank repeated. "She's going to meet up with Marina and Sally," Theodore explained, "Those two girls who arrived here not too long ago. From Tennessee!"

"Right," Hank said, "I knew that." "All right," said Emily, "You all enjoy yourselves." "We will," Theodore and Hank called back. "You have fun, Emily," said Laurie. "Right," Emily agreed.

So once everyone had left, Emily went out of the harbour to see the group of fishing trawlers. That's where she met up with Carla. "Hey, Emily!" Carla chirped, "Where are you going?" "To see a group of trawlers," Emily explained, "You're welcome to join me."

"I will!" Carla said excitedly. "But be on your best behavior," Emily told Carla in a stern voice. "Righty!" Carla replied.

In no time at all, they arrived outside the Great Big Harbour. "Hey, look!" called Carla. They saw a group of fishing trawlers. "Yes," said Emily, "It is them." "Nice day to be out and about," said Blandford. "Right to agree," said Emily, "And there is someone I'm looking for." "Who?" asked Carla.

That's when a familiar fishing trawler approached Emily. "Hey, a trawler," Carla chipped. "Hey, Gregor!" Emily called out to the Russian fishing trawler. "His name is Gregor?" asked Carla.

"Yes!" Emily said, "Great to see you again, Gregor!" Gregor said hello to Emily, but in Russian. "What did he say?" asked Carla. "He says," Emily explained, "Ok, I hope it works. 'Emily! A pleasure to see you too!' That." "Oh," said Carla. "I'm still learning Russia," said Emily.

Then Gregor said something to Carla. "Ok," Carla replied. "He's being nice," Emily said, "He said 'hello' to you, Carla." "Right," said Carla. Gregor said another sentence in Russia. That's when Foduck and George arrived as well. "Well," said George, "Gregor! Gotten over that propeller mishap, haven't you?"

"Did you have to ask that, George?!" Foduck asked in a loud tone. "I mean to say, Gregor," George corrected, "How's life?" "Everyone," Emily said, "Never mind! Gregor is here once again!" "Yeah!" said Carla. And that's when another fishing trawler approached them.

This one floated beside Gregor. "Who's she?" Carla asked. The other fishing trawler said something in Russia. "I'd take it that Russian fishing trawler is Gregor's girlfriend," said Foduck. "Yes," George agreed, "I believe her name is Iskra." "That's right," said Emily.

"What?" Carla replied. "It's a long story," said Foduck, "Long ago, she was worried about Gregor, too. After his accident that left Gregor with a broken propeller." "Yes," Emily replied. "But things are fine now," said Foduck. "So, Carla," said Emily, "You already know Gregor, so, try to get to know Iskra." "Ok," said Carla, and she approached the female fishing trawler and then said, "Hi there, uh. How do you do?"

Iskra smiled and said something to Carla in Russian. "Uh," she replied. "She said 'hello, it's nice to meet you, Carla'," Emily explained. "Maybe we should go back home first," suggested Foduck. "Good idea," said Emily. And so, back at the Great Ocean Docks, Emily, Carla, Foduck and George gathered around to listen to Gregor and Iskra's stories from Russia, in Russian language.

Foduck did his best to translate. They also learned how the two fell in love with each other in the first place. "Well, that's wonderful," said George, "The two met each other long ago while fishing at the same spot." "Yes," said Foduck, "And now, Nautilus and Constance has fallen in love with each other." "Yes," Said Carla.

Both Gregor and Iskra answered in Russian. "Agreed," the Dispatcher said. "Glad I'm here to translate for you," Foduck said to himself. "Right," said George. "I think this is great," said Emily.

That's when Theodore and Hank returned home. "That Scally," said Hank, "Trying to sell bubble wands made from leaves."

"And Malarkey," said Theodore, "Trying to tell a story about how he traveled to Pluto!" "What's the story on that?" Hank asked, "Hey, trawlers!" Theodore and Hank arrived and that's when Laurie returned to the docks. "What's going on?" Laurie asked.

"This romantic couple," Foduck said, "Meet Gregor and Iskra." "Who's Iskra?" Hank asked. "That trawler next to Gregor," Theodore explained, "We already know Gregor. Oh, Laurie, they are from Russia." "Oh," Laurie replied, "Oh and I had a good time with Sally and Marina."

"Nice," said Theodore, "Glad you have fun with your friends." "Can I point out something?" Foduck said, "Okay, I know Russia was once called the Soviet Union, "I learned from a history program. And the fell apart years ago and it's now Russia." "Right," Emily agreed.

Of course, Gregor and Iskra knew that, too, but they didn't mind. "So let's hear the rest of the story," said George. "Yeah," Laurie replied. And so they did. They all listened to the stories until it was time for them to go to sleep. However, Laurie was thinking about something. "Maybe," she thought.

And so, the Russian fishing trawlers stayed in the big harbour for a few days. As well as Gregor and Iskra. And when it came time for them to go home to Russian, Gregor and Iskra said goodbye and promised that they'll visit again. But in Russian language.

"It'll take time," said Carla, "What Soviet Union?" "Don't ask that again," said Foduck.
