4: The first signs of trouble

Luna and Jasmine came to in a room far different from where they had started reading. Glancing around the 2 of them saw a desk with candles on it, a picture that shows a giant tower made out of human corpses and bones, and a Gladius hanging on 1 wall.

There was another interesting picture on the wall near the back-center of the room. This water-colored drawing resembled a large, Asian temple in the middle of the forest. they could also see a picture that resembles an old, Gothic style cathedral, as well as a giant mask that looks like it came from an Asian area.

"I wonder what all this means" Luna said, looking around in fascination.

Jasmine looked at the Gladius on the wall. " I'm pretty sure that's the sort that I saw Pious' using when I read the first chapter of the tome" she said.

Luna blinked at jasmine's words. " But why would it be here" she asked looking around at the other pitchers on the walls. "And why does that temple look familiar?"

Jasmine focused on the picture of the temple in a forest. "Doesn't that look like the temple that we saw the young girl explore in the second chapter?"

Luna blinks, and stares in fascination at the temple. " I do believe you're right" she said looking around in surprise. "Then what could the rest of these mean?"

"I have no idea" Jasmine said looking around the room. "I do Believe however we'd better find a way out of here. No telling how long we've been out."

Luna pulls her wand from behind her ear and cast the Tempus spell. It was 11:30. "what the" she said looking surprised. " It's been 6 hours. Where did the time go?"

Jasmine pauses in her search for an exit. "6 hours" she asks. "That's even longer then when I'd read the first chapter."

The two girls continued to search the room, until they finally discovered a door behind 1 of the tapestries on the wall leading out into a corridor. The two girls followed the corridor to a set of stairs. Ascending the stairs, the two girls found themselves under a trapdoor, The trapdoor, being transparent like glass, allowed them to see what was up above. Glancing up, the 2 girls stopped in shock to see they were under the grate hall.

" What is this place" Jasmine asked in surprise as she examined the trapdoor looking for a way to open it.

Luna shrugged. " I would guess this is the heart of the castle" she said while helping Jasmine examine the trapdoor. "Daddy always said that Hogwarts had many secrets, but I don't think this was one of the things he was expecting."

Before Jasmine could reply they found a latch that allowed them to open the trapdoor. This allowed them to climb out into the grate hall. As soon as both girls had cleared the trapdoor, it closed without a sound, and they found that they couldn't reopen it to go back down.

"Well, what now" luna asked glancing around.

Jasmine nodded to luna. "It's rather late" she said glancing at the time that was still hovering in the air above Luna's wand. "Why don't you come with me. We'll find a place to rest until breakfast."

Luna nodded, and the two girls set out to locate a place where they could rest for a few hours.

At breakfast the next morning Jasmine was sitting between her two friends Ron and Hermione. The 2 of them sat on either side of Jasmine While she was piling food on her plate and didn't allow anybody else to get near her. The other Gryffindors gave Jasmine looks of sympathy as the 2 of them sat down.

"So, what happened to you last night jasmine" Hermione asked as she piled some food onto her plate.

Jasmine gave Hermione a strange look. "What do you mean what happened to me" she asked glancing around.

Ron scoffed. The walking garbage disposal said, you didn't come back to the dorm room last night mate. On top of that you decided to go and spend time with Looney."

All conversations stopped as jasmine lashed out and slapped Ron across the face.

"Don't you call her that" Jasmine said with more anger than anyone had ever seen in her be four. "She may be different, she may not see things the same way we do, but that does not give you the right to throw disparaging remarks at her or call her names."

Everybody else at the Gryffindor table was surprised to see jasmine defending Luna Lovegood. They all knew that she disliked Slytherins almost on principle, but they've had never seen her stand up for anyone except for Ron or Hermione. This was the first time she'd stood up for anyone against what they'd said. And the rest of the table was leaning forward to catch whatever words would pass between the three.

Ron rubbed his stinging cheek in surprise. " what's the big deal" he hadn't even gotten started putting food on his plate yet. "That's what everybody calls her."

Jasmine gave him a scathing look. "And do you enjoy being called derogatory names? Maybe try being more understanding with other people."

Jasmine turned toward Hermione. "And don't you get started" she said pinning Hermione in place with a single look. "You don't like being called a know it all, or any other derogatory name when it comes to your study habits. So don't you go casting aspersions on other people because you don't believe in what she does."

Hermione's mouth snapped shut in surprise. "But why would you stick up for her" Hermione Asked looking more surprised than hurt."

Jasmine shrugged. "She and I just click for some reason" she said. That wasn't to say that she would ignore everyone else, but it was now clear Jasmine Potter had started collecting her own inner circle either, or this seemed more likely, she was finally coming into her family's magic.

A few days later Jasmine opened her copy of the prophet and stared in shock at the headline displayed.

" Try wizard champions speak out.

Yesterday we had the wand's ceremony at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. I was fortunate enough to be able to speak with each of the champions before we got photographs you will see on the following pages. Instead of puffing themselves up, each said they intended to face the challenges that the organizers had set for them. However, for some reason all the three champions wanted to talk about was the dark feeling surrounding the school.

From what Mr. Diggory told me, it started the day before the champion selection. He was sure that there was something dark in the school, but he wasn't sure what or win it appeared.

Victor Krum, seeker on the Bulgarian quidditch team, and Fleur Delacour, from Beauxbatons, also commented on how something feels extremely dark in the school. For some reason it also seems to be centered under the school's main hall.

Headmaster Albus Dumbledore said 'you know that Hogwarts is the safest place in Magical Britton. I am positive that if there was something dark under the grate hall, and if it was dangerous, it would've been dealt with by myself and the staff by now.'

This reporter will continue to investigate and is willing to try to get an interview with the famous jasmine potter as soon as I'm able."

Jasmine wondered "Don't they have anything better to do with their lives?" She decided to ignore the paper and glanced around the hall. She saw ghosts passing through the floor of the grate hall heading down to the corridor that she and Luna had seen a few days ago. This reminded her that they still needed to find the next chapter page, and that they were probably going to need more help finding out what was going on in the school.

"I wonder if Luna has any ideas" she thought before she finished her breakfast. "I'll ask her after classes today."

Unknown to jasmine an individual from the Hufflepuff table was watching in surprise. Jasmine and Luna weren't the only ones who could see spirits passing through the floor. It seems a Hufflepuff can see them as well. Also, a young Slytherin in the same year as Jasmine could see the spirits as well. This Slytherin watched as Jasmine Potter walked out of the grate hall.

"I wonder what that is all about" she thought finishing her breakfast and rising from Slytherin table to get to class."

Over the next few weeks Jasmine noticed something was wrong with most of the students at Hogwarts. It was nothing specific, but she did notice the majority of the students were starting to act more and more antagonistic towards others.

At first, she thought that it was stress due to their classes. Her thoughts changed when she noticed Hannah Abbott, a friend of Susan bones, acting strangely.

Jasmine had just come around the corner and was walking towards the greenhouses ready for Herbology, when she noticed Hannah Abbott yelling at Susan Bones.

" Why are you defending her" she yelled. "Everybody else thought she was the heir of Slytherin during our second year, and that the attacks only stopped because people were catching on to her."

Susan's eyes were red with teers, but she stood her ground. "Oh really" she asked, giving Hannah a disapproving look. "If jasmine was the heir of Slytherin back then why she stopped the attacks after her best friend, who is a Muggle born remember, was petrified."

Hannah threw her hands up in exasperation. "To throw others off her trail" she said jabbing a finger into Susa's chest. "Is the perfect way to throw off anybody from her sent."

Susan gave Hannah an unimpressed look. "If you are right, and if she is smart enough to figure out that you are right, then how come you were never petrified?"

Hannah stepped back in alarm. "What do you mean?"

Susan gave Hannah a look of disdain. "You know as well as I do that, you're not pure blood. You also know that I do not care, and neither does Jasmine Potter. However, if she was indeed the heir of Slytherin she would have sought you out over your comments that year."

With that Hannah took off running across the grounds, tears streaming from her eyes.

Susan turned and walked into the greenhouse, not seeing jasmine staring after her in surprise.

"What's going on" she asked herself to glance around to see if anyone saw what happened. "This is just the latest fight I've seen between friends. I thought Hannah and Susan were the best of friends. At least that's the impression I got in previous years. I hope this has nothing to do with the Tome of eternal darkness showing up now."

An: and that's where we're stopping for now. Next chapter Jasmine and company will find the next chapter page, and we will meet the third member of this little group.

Also I am not looking forward to writing the next chapter. The Binding of the Corpse God was the longest chapter I had written without extra stuff adding to the word count, and that was on the short side. The "tome chapters" witch is what I call the chapters where the group reads from the tome of Eternal Darkness are just going to get longer from here on out, and I am not looking forward to writing and correcting those chapters.

Anyway please leave a review or PM if you have any questions or comments, and I will see you all next time.
