Lonnie and Emrys
Later that night after everyone had dinner the group headed up to the kitchen that was in the dorms. It was always fully stocked as if Fairy Godmother knew that teenagers were prone to late night snacks at times. Carlos carried Dude in his arms, Hava was glad he didn't bark.
After about ten minutes of fiddling with the love spell recipe Mal glanced down at her open spell book. Evie and Hava were beside her at the table and Jay was leaning on the counter with Carlos sitting on top of it with Dude sitting in a bowl on a towel.
"All right it still says we need one tear and I never cry," Mal said.
"Let's just chop up some onions," Carlos said taking one from the pile and holding it out.
"No!" Mal said bothered, "It says we need one tear of human sadness. This love potion gets the best reviews so we have to follow it exactly," Mal said.
"A tear is a tear," Jay said with a scoff.
"That's not true Jay. The both have antibodies and enzymes, but an emotional tear has more protein-based hormones then a reflex tear," Evie said. Everyone looked at her and Hava gave a smile and a nod.
"Listen to you," Mal said impressed.
Before anyone could say anything else the doors opened to the kitchen and Lonnie in, followed by Emrys, who was looking irritated. Mal had to quickly cover up her spell book with a towel.
"There you are Mal," Lonnie said, when she saw them.
"Lonnie you need to leave them alone," Emrys told her.
"I was looking for you guys everywhere. All the girls in school want you to do their hair," Lonnie said cheerfully, ignoring what Emrys said.
Hava rolled her eyes, "What do you girls think this is? A hair salon? Leave us alone, we're busy," Hava said in an annoyed tone. Her friends gave her a warning look, but she ignored the look they gave. Hava was already unhappy enough she's been away from The Horned King for far too long for her liking and she just wants to get the Fairy Godmother's wand so that she could return to her father.
"That's exactly what I tried to tell her," Emrys said
"Oh? A midnight snack, huh? What are you making?" Lonnie asked with a smile.
"Nothing special just cookies," Mal said. "Oh, No, no wait," Mal cried when Lonnie stuck a finger in the batter.
"What I am not going to double dip," Lonnie said cleaning the batter of her finger.
"Feel anything?" Evie asked worriedly.
"Yeah like maybe it might be messing something?" Mal asked nervously.
Jay gave Lonnie a dashing smile from here he was, trying to channel all his charm into that one smile. "Hey, there."
Lonnie gave him a confused look before responding, "Could use some chips."
"Chips?" Jay asked puzzled.
"And those are?" Mal asked impatiently.
"Chocolate chips," Lonnie answered, "Just the most important food group ever," Lonnie took out a small bowl filled with chocolate chips with a smile on her face as she put the chips in the batter.
"Wait didn't your moms ever make you guys like chocolate chip cookies?" Lonnie asked. Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos looked at her confused and startled. Emrys gave Lonnie a warning look, which she didn't seem to notice. "Like when you're feeling sad and they're fresh from the oven with a big old glass of milk and she just makes you laugh and puts everything into perspective and…" Lonnie continued and then trailed off. Hava gives a deep frown, while her four friends had sad expressions on their faces.
Hava and Jay didn't even have their mothers, only their fathers. Jafar would never talk about Jay's mother and Hava only knew that her mother abandoned her right after she was born and she was sent to the Isle to her father, but unlike Jafar, The Horned King was a good father.
"Why are you all looking at me like that?" Lonnie asked.
"Jay and I don't have our mothers," Hava said frowning at Lonnie, "In fact, almost all of us on the Isle have been raised by only one parent." Emrys's face softens at that, he could relate to that, as he only had his grandfather, Merlin, who was all the way back in Canterlot.
"Yeah, it's just different where we are from," Mal said softly gazing at the table. Mal knew her mother never did something like that. Their parents, except for The Horned King, wouldn't cheer them up if they were having a tough time.
"Yeah, I know. I just, you know. I thought even villains love their kids," Lonnie said then stopped as their faces became even sadder.
"Lonnie," Hava said sadly, "I'm one of the few villain kids, who do have a loving parent.
"Oh," Lonnie said the smile coming off her face. "How awful," she said her voice breaking softly. A tear slid down Lonnie's cheek. She put her hands over Mal in comfort. It was a simple enough gesture. Emrys noticed Mal flicking the tear off of Lonnie's cheek and put it in the batter, but didn't think much of it.
"Yeah well, big bummer but we need to get these into the oven thanks for coming," Mal said.
"Thanks for coming," Evie said as well.
"Okay, good night," Lonnie said shrugging.
"See you tomorrow. Evil dreams," Mal said shooing Lonnie out the doors. Lonnie shrugged confused by the manor but seeing no real reason to stay she left.
Emrys stayed a little longer looking at Hava. Her face looked sad, but for a different reason that was separate from her friends, he wanted to talk with her, but now didn't seem to be a good time, especially with her friends around. Emrys then decided that he would just find Hava later, so he just left.
Mal turns her attention to her friends and clapped. "Okay boys, cookie sheet, Evie, oven, Hava cooking spray."
"Cooking spray is already out," Hava told her. She then sprayed the sheets with her telekinesis.
After the cookies were in the oven, Hava said, "I need to go out and get some air, "I'll see you guys later." Hava then left the kitchen.
