And here we go, we have now reached the events of the 1st episode of The Owl House. There Max and Shartok will meet Eda and Luz Noceda.
New Friends and Allies
Having escaped from the castle of Emperor Belos, Max and his new friend, Shartok the one eyed bat made their way through the Boiling Isles. They had just walked back to town, the same one that Max stumbled in. They are currently walking through the market place again.
"So, Max, I have to ask: where do you come from by the way?", asked Shartok
"Well, Shartok. You probably won't believe this, but I actually come from another world." answered Max
"Hmm. I guess that explains why your ears are so different", said Shartok
"Yes. I am actually a human" replied Max. Shartok nods at this. Max then asked, "So what's the name of this town?"
"This is Bonesborough. A lot of demons and creatures reside here. We are currently in the Market district" answered Shartok
"Excuse me?" The duo turn to a humanoid salesman approach them.
"Would like to buy these enchanted teeth?" asked the salesman. He holds up some chattering teeth. Max got a little freaked out by this
"Um. Thank you, sir. But I am not interested" answered Max. He then hurries away
Just as the duo got away from the salesman, they see a commotion at another stand. They see a bunch of monsters crowding up towards a tent bidding on a television. Max instantly recognize the owner of the stand as he almost got caught by her. And to his surprise, he sees a human girl with her. She appears to be Dominican American and appears to be a little younger than him.
"Wow. Looks like you're not the only human that came here." said Shartok
"Yeah. That girl looks kinda familiar." Max looks at the middle aged woman. "And who is that lady?"
"I've seen her before. That's Eda Clawthorne, but most people call her the Owl Lady" answered Shartok. "Everyday, she would set up this 'Human Collectibles' stand to sell different kinds of junk to these customers."
"Interesting", replied Max
"Busted!"
Max and Shartok turned to see a bunch of guards surrounding the Human Collectibles stand. One of them broke a TV. All of the customers fled the scene. Eda hops off a table she was standing on. One of the guards holds a wanted poster of the Eda.
"Eda the Owl Lady, you are wanted for misuse of magic and demonic misdemeanors." said the guard.
"Whoa! Witch criminal!" said the girl
"You are hereby ordered to come with me to the Conformatorium." said the guard
"Would you guys quit following me around? I haven't done squat.", barked Eda
Another guard grabs the girl by her hood making her yell
"And you're coming too for fraternizing with a criminal" said the second guard
"This is not good. We have to help them" said Max
"I don't know. Maybe we should just forget we ever saw this" replied Shartok nervously.
"Well I can't just ignore someone who is need of help" said Max. He then steps up to them "Hey!"
Eda, the girl, and the guards look over to him
"Another human?" asked Eda
The girl gasped, "It can't be"
"Hey, isn't that the human we captured?" asked a guard
"I thought he was back in the castle" said the second guard
"He must've escaped. Let's get him!, cried the third guard
[Cue Haven City Guard Pursuit from Jak II]
The emperor's guards run at him. The girl gasp at this. One of the guards attempts to hit Max with his staff, but the he ducked and did a low kick to sweep on off his feet. Then the other guard came at him, but Max delivered a big punch to the face. Just then his pyro form activates, much to Eda and the girl's surprise.
"Whoa!" said the girl
Max then began to make quick work of the guards with his punches and spin attacks, which is now enhanced by his fire powers. Shartok who was hanging onto Max was amazed. After the guards were defeated, Max then powers down and puts his hands on his knees panting.
[Music ends]
"That was awesome!" said Shartok. "Can you do that again?"
"I don't know if I can", answered Max "Whatever those guys did to me, I don't seem to have any control over it"
"What was that?!"
They duo turn to see Eda and the girl walk up to them
"I gotta say, young man. You really kicked butt out there. Especially, with that fire form of yours", said Eda
"Yeah. And it was epic! "said the girl "Those guards were like 'Let's get em guys'. And you were like, 'Fire on' and then you were like 'Pow'! 'Wham'. Total slam! And.. you were really great"
"Um. Thanks?", said Max in surprise as he stands up
"Anyway, you really saved my life back there" said Eda. "You got a name?"
"It's Max. Max Corven", answered Max
"And I'm Shartok", said Shartok as he flew on Max's shoulder. "I'm with him"
"Whoa! A talking one eyed bat?", said the girl. "And you're blue too."
"Well, what can I say? I'm one of a kind", said Shartok
"Cool. My name is Luz Noceda. It's nice to meet you, Max" said the girl now known as Luz
"You too Luz" said Max as he and Luz shake hands
"And I am Eda the Owl Lady", said Eda. "The most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles"
"It's nice to officially meet you", said Max. "Shartok actually told me about you"
"Really" said Eda as she narrowed her eyes at Shartok
"Yep. About everything you do here, Owl Lady" said Shartok
"Say have we met before?" asked Luz
"Um.." Max was about to answer, but Eda interrupts
"We might want to hold off on explanations. I have a feeling more guards might show up." said Eda. "First, I have to gather my things"
Eda uses her magic to gather all of her merchandise into a sack.
"Whoops. Can't forget this." said Eda as she clicks her key which turns the door into a brief case. "Follow me, you three!"
She runs off with Luz and Max, with Shartok still on his shoulder, following her
"Do we trust her?" questioned Shartok
"We don't have a choice. Those guards are already after me." replied Max. "Besides, maybe Eda can help me control my powers"
"This is crazy! If I die here, mom will kill me!" Luz said
"That goes double for me" added Max
"Don't worry. I won't let them hurt any of you. Besides humans are more valuable to me alive than dead." said Eda
"Wait, what?" said Max in confusion
Eda grabs both Luz and Max onto her staff and flew off just as two more guards show up.
"You won't get away with this Owl Lady!" yelled the first guard
"Uh, technically she already did" said the second guard
"Darn! All right. You did. You got away with it. She got away with it, everybody! Typical." said the first guard in frustration
"Hey, we'll get her next time" said the second guard
Eda, Luz, Max, and Shartok are seen soaring above the Isles. Both the Max and Shartok along with Luz have their eyes close.
"You can open your eyes now" said Eda
Both humans and Shartok open their eyes to see the view from the staff
"Wow" said Max
"Quite a nice view from way up here" said Shartok
"Flying staffs, crazy monsters, you're a witch! What is this place?" asked Luz
"This is the Boiling Isles. Every myth you humans have is caused by a little of our world leaking into yours." answered Eda
Just then, a griffin flies by them
"Hey, a griffin" said Luz
The griffin then spits out spiders
"Whoa. I didn't know griffins can do that" said Max
"Well now you know, kid" said Shartok
"Yep, We got em all. Griffins, vampires, giraffes..." said Eda
"You have giraffes here?" asked Max in surprise
"We did. But we banished them. Bunch of freaks" said Eda
The staff lands on the ground and hops off leaving her hand. Seeing her hand moving on it's own causing both Luz and Max freak out as they get off
"Oops. That happens sometimes" said Eda as he screws her hand back on
"I have to admit: this place is very different compared to Dungeons and Dragons" said Max
"Dungeons and what?" asked both Shartok and Eda
"It's a role playing game from my world. I'll explain later" said Max
"So, how do we get back home?" asked Luz
Eda levels her staff
"Only if you help me first" answered Eda "Come on, humans"
She picks up her stuff and walks off with the bag following her. Both Luz and Max with Shartok still on his shoulder follow her.
The three reaches a very large house
"That's where you live?" asked Max
"Yep" answered Eda
"Aren't you worried about those guards finding us?" asked Luz in worry
"Nope" answered Eda. "My house has a state-of-the-art defense system."
They walk up to the door with the face of an owl on it
"Hoot-hoot! Password, please!" said the face
Eda pokes the face in the eyes
"Aah!" exclaimed the face
"We got no time for this, Hooty. Let us in." said Eda
"All right, all right! Geez! You never want to have any fun! Ow! Hoot!" said the face now know Hooty. He then opens his mouth wide enough which covers the entire door.
"Wow. That's some door" said Shartok
"You said it" said Max
They all step through. Hooty then closes his mouth while letting out a burp afterwards. We now go to the inside of the house
"Welcome to, the Owl House" said Eda as she snaps her fingers causing all the lights and candles inside the house to light up. Luz, Max, and Shartok were looking in awe at the inside.
"...where I hide away from the pressures of modern life. Also the cops. Mm, also ex-boyfriends." added Eda with a chuckle
"This place is beautiful" said Luz
"You got that right! Now this is really living!" said Shartok "I sure could get use to this"
Max turns to Eda and says, "Do you live here all by yourself?"
They then heard a rumble
"Actually, I have a roommate" replied Eda
A big shadow comes through the hall
"Who dares intrude upon I,..." said a deep voice but as someone comes to the doorway, the voice becomes normal revealing a small creature with a skull on his face, horns with one broken and a collar. He was also wearing a towel on his head and body. "The King of Demons?"
"¡Ay, que lindo!" exclaimed Luz as she scooped up the creature and hugs it "Eda, he's so cute! Who's a widdle guy? Who's a widdle guy? Is it you? Is it you?"
"No! I don't know who your little guy is! Eda, who is this monster?" yelled King as he struggles to free himself
"Ha! That's a King?" said Shartok as he flew over "He looks short for one"
"Silence peasant!" said King "You oughta show respect to your king!"
"Hey! I'm no peasant. And you're not my king" shouted Shartok
Eda pulls Luz off King
"This is Luz the human and Max the other human" said Eda "And also this bat's name is Shartok. They're gonna help us with our... situation"
"Oh! Hooray!" said King with excitement
"What kind of situation?" asked Max curiously
"Yeah, I don't think I like the sound of that" said Luz in worry
"Just... let me explain." said Eda. She draws circle to show what looks like an illustration "King was once a mighty king of demons, until his Crown of Power was stolen, and he became...this."
"You mean this little bundle of joy?" asked Luz as she hugged King again
"A bit of an exaggeration I would say" commented Shartok
Max shushes him as Eda continues with her story
"The crown is being held by the evil Warden Wrath and locked away behind a magical force field that only a human can break through" narrated Eda as the circle fades away. "A human like- you two! If you all can help us retrieve his crown, we'll send you back to your realm. So whadday say? Plus, who could say no to this cute face?" asked Eda as she held up King.
"No! Don't encourage them!" said King
"I mean, we're kinda your only way home." said Eda as she dropped King
"I guess we don't have a choice." said Max "Plus maybe I can learn how to use my new powers"
"You have powers?" asked King in surprise
"He sure does" said Shartok "You should've seen it. He went all pyro like when he took out those guards."
"Speaking of powers, how did you get yours, Max?" asked Luz
"Well, I guess you can thank those weird guards for that" answered Max
"Really!? The Emperor's Coven did this to you? asked Eda in shock
"Yeah, it was before you came here, Luz" said Max "When I came here, those guys knocked me out and brought me to this castle. Then I was subjected to their experiments for 18 hours."
"Why would they experiment on a human like you?" ask Eda
"I think I heard them saying something about reviving a coven that has been discontinued. But after those hours have past, that golden masked guy consider the experiment a failure" said Max
"And that's when I saw him on fire when I met him" said Shartok
"Aye yi yi!" cried Luz "I'm sorry you went through all that, Max"
"Yeah, experimenting on a human just to revive a coven that was disbanded? That's low even for the Emperor!" said Eda
"Cool! So you have powers!" said King in excitement "Can you show me?"
"That's the problem. I can't seem to control it. That's why I was hoping if the Owl Lady can help me" said Max. He turns to Eda "If it's alright with you"
"Well, I suppose I could help you out." said Eda "But, we have no time to lose"
"Soon, Mr. Ducky, we shall drink the fear of those who mocked us" said King as he follows after Eda who was heading to the door
"I do not want to know what that taste like" Shartok whispered to Max
The two humans and bat follow Eda and King out the door
"Where are we going?" asked Luz
"Somewhere super fun" answered Eda
The group then came upon a huge building
"This is fun?" asked Max
"Yep. The Conformatorium, a place for those considered unsuitable for society" said Eda
Hmm. I seem to recall that Emperor Belos guy wants to ship me there. thought Max
The two humans then noticed a wanted poster of Eda
"Wow. These guys sure really have the hots for you" said Luz
"Yep, but we we were never caught because we're too slippery" said Eda
"Try to catch me when I'm covered in grease. I'm a squirmy little fella." said King. He yelps and falls off Luz's head
Max looks around and gasps when he sees a Wanted poster of himself
"Wow, 18 hours since we escaped and you're already a wanted man" said Shartok
Max gulps at this
"Okay. Here's the plan: we will sneak up to the top of the tower, where they're holding my crown." said King
"And I'm gonna make sure the warden's distracted." said Eda. "Oh, and Max"
"Yes, Eda?" asked Max
"Here's a tip to activate your fire form" said Eda "Try to concentrate and think about the fire that is about to burn."
"Um. Okay. I'll remember that" said Max
"Do we need disguises?" asked Luz with a gasp
"Uh..." Eda said. Luz pulls up her hood with cat ears
"I've been waiting to use this. Meow Meow" said Luz
"Good idea, Luz" said Max as he pulls his hood over his head
"It's hideous." commented King
"You call that a disguise" said Shartok
"Sorry, Shartok, but this is all I have" answered Max
"You two will fit right in" said Eda
She slams her staff down and a ring appears under them
"Hang on tight" said Eda as she stepped away from the ring
"Whoa!" exclaimed Shartok as the ring begins to float
The ring then took them up to a window in a tower. It then disappears and the two humans hanged on the ledge
"Wow. Talk about hanging by a thread" said Shartok
"Be quiet, peasant" said King
"Hey!" yelled Shartok
"Knock it off, you two" said Max
They two humans, King, and Shartok climbed inside. As they walk through the prison, Max couldn't help but notice the design of the conformatorium
"Whoa. This place is lot larger compared to the prison from where I'm from" said Max
"I know" replied Luz
"Hey cat girl, hooded creature" They turn to see a girl inside a cell. "How did you two get out of your cells?"
"Oh, I'm not a cat" said Luz taking off her hood
"And I'm not a creature. I'm a human" said Max as he also takes off his hood. "Plus we are not criminals"
"You already are" said King. "But the girl isn't one yet"
"Well, neither are we. The stupid warden like to lock people up who don't fit in. Like, I write fanfics of food falling in love. I like food, I like love... Just let me write about it" said the girl
"Intriguing" said Max
"Almost makes me want to gag" muttered Shartok
"I'm in here because I like eating my own eyes" said a creature with some empty eye sockets. He takes one of his eyeballs and eats it.
"I was wrong. That makes me want to gag" commented Shartok
"We are agents of fwee expwession! They will never siwence us!" said a small white creature with red hair
"Yeah, she's really big into conspiracy theories." said the fanfic girl
"The world is a simulation! We are but playthings for a higher being!" yelled the white creature
"Those are not real crimes!" said Max
"Yeah, none of you guys actually did anything wrong. You're all just a bunch of weirdos. Like us" said Luz
"She's right. I may be considered weird, but you don't see me get locked up for it" said Max
"This is truly outrageous" commented Shartok
"You said it, Shartok" replied Max
Suddenly, thudding footsteps can be heard
"It's Warden Wrath! Hide!" shouted the fanfic girl
Luz grabs King and goes into a cell while Max and Shartok goes into the cell next to the one Luz is hiding in. Then, a large humanoid creature with a mask that has beak comes in. This is Warden Wrath
"I can hear you." said Wrath as the prisoners got frightened. "Just what are you fools whispering about?
Warden Wrath then looked at a wanted poster of Eda at a wall. "Ah. The Owl Lady. I'll get my hands on her soon enough."
"Fight against the oppwessor! We will wesist! We will conquer! We will never be afwaid of you, you old cweep!" the small white prisoner spoke up.
Hearing this, Warden Wrath opens her cell. "Hooway! I'm fwee!" she cheered. But Warden Wrath grabs her and begins to choke her. Seeing this, made Max very angry as his body starts to burn up. Shartok notices this and begins to jump around as he felt the burn.
"Let this be a lesson to all of you. There's no place in society for you if you can't fit in." Warden Wraith told the prisoners. He then stomps out the door carrying the white creature with him. With the coast clear, both Luz, King, Max and Shartok got out of their cells.
"Don't worry. I can get you out." said Luz. She tries to pull the lever, but it wouldn't budge
"Here, Luz. Let me try" said Max. Luz moves out of the way as Max tries to pull the lever. But it wouldn't budge either.
"Wow, strong lever" commented Shartok
"Just get out of here while you still can, you two. Enjoy freedom for us.", said the fanfic girl sadly as she walks away
Luz and Max were reluctant, but they had no choice but to walk away with King leading them. Max takes one look at the cells as he follows after Luz and King.
"What's the matter, Max?" asked Shartok as he notices his friend's sad face
"This is all wrong. Those guys don't deserve to be in here just because they're different" complained Max
"Well, what can we do? That warden is big. We are small. There's just no other way" said Shartok
"Well, you ever heard the saying: If there's a will, there's a way?" asked Max
"Um, no?" said Shartok
"It means there's always a way even it's hard. I'm sure we can find some way to let these guys out" replied Max
Luz, King, Max, and Shartok then made it down the hall to a door that with the word Contraband on it. Then Eda swoops in on her staff.
"Hey, I just checked. The warden is distracted, tormenting some tiny creature. He won't be coming around here anytime soon." she informed
"My crown! It's close! I can sense its power!" said King as he begins to fiddle with the doorknob
"Aw, he gets so cute when he's thirsty for power." said Eda
"It's not fair that they're all in here. They just want to be themselves." said Luz
"Yeah, nobody should be locked away just because they are weird. I mean what kind of justice system does that?!" added Max in disgust. Luz nods her head in agreement. Shartok even smiled a bit at what Max said. Just then, the door knob hits the ground. King giggles as he pushes the door open and went in.
'Wow. King looks like he has the skills of a Rogue' thought Max
"Come on, before he hurts himself." said Eda
"Ow!" shouted King
"Too late" said Shartok
The group then went inside the room. In the center of the room is a pillar of light. King tries to charge at it but is launched backwards.
"We have humans, remember" Eda reminded
"Oh yeah" said King
"I guess I'll wait here then" said Shartok as he flew off Max's shoulder
Max and Luz both looked at the pillar
"So, Max. Shall we do this?" Luz asked
"I guess we shall. This looks like the end of the quest" replied Max
They both take deep breaths and stuck out their hands. They pressed on the light pillars and went right through it. The two humans looks to see several piles of junk stacked up.
"Whoa. Look at all this stuff" said Max in surprised
"I know" added Luz. She then looks up. "Wait a second. Is that it?"
Max looks and sees a crown on the top of the pile
"That must be it" said Max
But when they came out, it was revealed to be a paper crown from a Burger Queen fast food joint. They were disappointed.
"Wait wait wait wait. This is the crown we were suppose to find?" said Shartok in bewilderment
"It sure is. My crown!" exclaimed King as he grabs it and puts it on his head
"Yes. Yes! I can feel my powers returning! You, there. Nightmare critter. I shall call you Francois, and you shall be a minion in my army of darkness. Ha-ha" he said as he picked up a nearby stuffed rabbit
"That crown doesn't give him any powers, does it?" asked Luz
"Uh, no" answered Eda which earns her a glare from Luz and Max
"Some quest this turned out to be. We broke into this prison just to get a crown that came from a fast food joint!" complained Max
"Yeah! What a ripoff!" added Shartok as he got on Max's shoulder
"Oh, don't be like that. Just look at us. King and I don't have much in this world. We only have each other. So if that dumb crown is important to him, it's important to me. And besides, us weirdos have to stick together, you know" said Eda
Max widens his eyes at the last words that Eda said. He had never thought of it like that.
"Well, we owe you one. Now, let's get out of here before the warden finds us and loses his head." said Eda. Warden Wrath and a few guards appeared behind her
"Too late" he said. He formed his hand into a blade and cut off Eda's head. Luz catches it. This caused Luz, Max, and Shartok to scream in terror
"Ow! Oh, I hate it when that happens" said Eda's head
This only made Luz, Max, and Shartok scream even more. Shartok even fainted
"Eda! Are you okay?" asked Luz as she is still holding Eda's head
"Yeah. This just happens when you get older." responded Eda
"Really?" asked Max with Shartok hiding behind his neck
"Uh huh" said Eda
"Finally, I have you cornered Eda the Owl Lady" said Wrath as he reformed his scythe back into a hand and snatches King's crown
"Hey!" said King as he leaps to get it back. Warden Wrath then walks up to Eda, Luz, Max, and Shartok.
"My guards could never get you, but I knew if I took your pet's toy, you'd come running" said Wrath as he crushes the crown in his fist
"No! My power" shouted King
"You monster!" shouted Shartok
"Silence you vermin!" Wrath spat back
"What do you want with me? I've never actually broken any of your stupid laws. In front of you" said Eda.
"I want you... to go out with me." answered Wrath as he pulls out a bouquet of flowers
"Wha...?" asked Eda
"What?" asked Luz confused
"Are you kidding?" asked Max in disgust as Shartok makes a fake gag
"Go, boss!" said a guard as another gives him a thumbs up which Wrath returns.
"You've always eluded our capture. You've always been the one who got away. I found that alluring." Wrath said to Eda
"I hate everything you're saying right now." said Luz
"You stay out of this!" said Wrath as he tosses the flowers and thrusts his arms forward at Luz
Max quickly got in front of Luz and held up his arm as Wrath's arm tangles in it
"Leave her alone!" shouted Max
"You must be Emperor Belos' little experiment. How fortunate that you ended up here with the Owl Lady" said Wrath
He then tosses Max aside making him hit the wall
"Max!" shouted Luz as Warden Wrath grabs her
"Buddy!" shouted Shartok who has just leaped off Max's shoulder before he hit the wall.
"So how about it, Owl Lady? The most powerful witch of the Boiling Isles and the feared Warden Wrath. We'd be the strongest power couple ever. I mean, it's—it's not like you can say no right now." said Wrath as he picked up Eda's head as Luz struggles in his grasp.
Seeing this, Shartok begins to shake Max awake
"Come on Max, wake up. They're in trouble!" urged Shartok
Max begins to stir and as he opens his eyes, he gasps and stood up with Shartok going on his left shoulder. Max then walks over to them
"Hey! Let them all go!" he yelled which get the guards' attention
"And what are you going to do about it? You don't even have any magic" mocked Wrath which makes the guards laugh
Max grits his teeth, but then remembers what Eda told him earlier
"Here's a tip to activate your fire form. Try to concentrate and think about the fire that is about to burn"
Max concentrated and then with a yell, his body gets covered in fire, activating his pyro form which shocks the Wrath and the guards
"Oh yeah" muttered Shartok
"I don't believe it. Max really does have powers" King said in awe
"Told ya" said Luz who was still in Wrath's grasp
Max then charges in and punches Wrath very hard in the stomach which makes him let go of Luz and Eda's head. Then Max did a roundhouse kick that sends Wrath flying and into a wall. The two guards then charge at him, but Max did a series of punches and spin attacks to knock them down.
"Way to knock them down, Max" said Shartok which makes Max grin
He then powers down and walks up to Luz and Eda.
"Are you guys okay?" Max asked
"Yes. Thanks to you" answered Luz
"That was awesome!" added King
"I gotta say, kid. You really took my advice" said Eda
"Thanks, Owl Lady" replied Max with a grin.
"Let's get out of here before they get up" said Luz said as she picked up Eda's head
The humans, King, Eda's head and body races away and got onto the owl staff as it unfurls it's wings and hoots
"Expecto... flying? Magicus... escapicus!" said Luz as she tries to get the staff to fly
"Really?" asked Max
"Well, have you tried riding a staff before?" Luz shot back
"Um, guys. Old gruesome's getting back up" said Shartok as he looks behind to see Warden Wrath getting up
"Uh oh. Gun it, magic stick!" yelled Eda and just like that, the staff took off. Wrath then stands up
"Owl Lady, I won't let you get away again!" he shouted as he turns his arms into a bunch of tentacles and chased them.
The group then flew through the cells
"Guys, we have to free the prisoners" reminded Max
"You read my mind, Max. Eda, lend me a hand!" yelled Luz as she helds out her hand with Eda's body placing her hand behind hers.
Together, they opened all the cells to free the prisoners. They then made their way out of the conformatorium and went down with Wrath still in pursuit. Shartok turns around to see Wrath extended his tentacled arm.
"Incoming!" he shouted
Wrath hits the staff which knocks them all off and causing him to hit the ground.
"Ow!" said Max as he rubs his arm
"Ow, my bones!" said King as Eda puts her head back on her body
"Luz, Max. Go back to the human world." said Eda as she takes the portal key out of her hair and toss it to them. Luz catches it
"What about you guys?" she asked
"If you think this guy is bad, you shoulda seen her last boyfriend!" said King
"Not my boyfriend." said Eda as she and King dodged Wrath's attack. Eda races over and puts Luz and Max onto the staff with Shartok still on his shoulder.
"But—But I—" stammered Luz
Eda slaps the bottom of the staff and it flies off taking the humans and bat with it. Warden Wrath removes his mask to reveal just a mouth with sharp teeth for a face. He then breaths fire at Eda, but the witch forms a ring to absorb the flame and another ring to send it back at him. Luz, Max, and Shartok witnessed this in the air. Wrath then crashed into a wall and forms a hole where the three prisoners they interacted with peek out.
"We have to help them" said Max
"I know" agreed Luz
"But she said to go back" said Shartok as Max stands on the staff
"I know that, Shartok. But I'm not going to abandon someone who is in desperate need of help. Luz, can you take care of those three?" he asked Luz
"Sure thing. But what will you do?" she asked back
"I'm going to assist the Owl Lady" Max replied
Luz nods her head
"Well, if you're going to help them, I'm in too" said Shartok
"That's what I like to hear. Hang on tight, Shartok" said Max as activates his Pyro form and jumps off the staff. As he dives down, Shartok begins to scream as he held onto Max's shoulder. Eda and King were thrown against the ground by Wrath
"No more running away, Owl Lady. Today I capture you once and for all!" said Wrath as he held up his scythe arms.
"Hey Warden!" yelled Max. Wrath looks up to see Max and Shartok diving down
"Lookout below!" yelled Max as he held a fist out. He gives him a big punch to the face which causes Wrath to be knocked down. Max then lands on the ground in front of Eda and King.
"Max, what are you doing here? I told you and Luz to go back to the human world!" said Eda
"And leave you at the mercy of that thing? I don't think so. It's like you also said: Us Weirdos have to Stick together" answered Max as he reminded Eda about what she told them
"Besides, it's like Max said: we can't abandon someone in desperate need of help" added Shartok
Eda smiles at this. Just then, Warden Wrath gets back up. He growls and holds up his scythes. He charges at the duo and begins to swing at them. Max dodges the attacks and delivers two punches in Wrath's torso. Shartok then flew in and got onto Wrath's face which allows Max to deliver a roundhouse kick to Wrath which sends him flying. Shartok detaches from Wrath's face and back onto Max's shoulder.
"Nice distraction, Shartok" said Max
"Well, I tried my best to help" admitted Shartok
Wrath gets back up. With a growl, he starts to breathe fire at them. Thinking quickly, Max held up his hand and blocked the flames. Eda and King were surprised by this
"Whoa! Are you seeing what I'm seeing?" asked King
"Yeah" said Eda in amazement
"Go, go, go, go!" shouted Luz
They turn to see Luz leading the prisoners that they interacted earlier on an attack. They tackle Wrath down.
"Perfect timing, Luz" said Max with a smile which
"I eat my own eyes!" yelled the eyed prisoner
"I think the world as a twiangle!" yelled the small white prisoner as she tripped the warden
"And I practice the ancient art of fanfiction!" said the fanfic girl as she holds him down
The other prisoners joined her as they tied up Wrath's arms and flip him on his stomach
"You! Who do you think you are?" Wrath demanded as Luz flew down
"Do not underestimate me, Warden Wrath, for I am Luz, the human, warrior of peace. Now eat this, sucka!" Luz said as she takes out a firework and tossed it in the air. Max jumps in and kicks the firework right into Wrath's mouth.
"And I'm Max Corven, the human with powers" Max said
"And I'm Shartok. I'm with him" Shartok said
Suddenly, Wrath's fiery breath caused the fireworks to go off and they flew in the air. Wrath then fled with the fireworks still in his mouth. All the prisoners celebrated their victory against their oppressor.
"That was actually one of her better breakups." King said
"Not a breakup. Anyway, let's bounce before any more monsters fall in love with me." said Eda
"Agreed. Let's get out of here!" said Shartok
After their adventures in the Conformatorium, everyone returned to the Owl House.
"Well, a deal's a deal. Let's get you two home." Eda said as she snaps her fingers and the portal door unfolds and opens
The two humans walk up to it. Shartok was still on Max's shoulder. Luz and Max both looked at Eda and King who sad look on their faces. Max also looked at Shartok who is sad as well.
"Before I go" Luz began as she reaches into her back and takes out her Azura figure and removes the crown. She then hands it to King. "I know it's not the same, but a king shouldn't be without a crown."
"This shall suffice." King said as he accepts the crown and puts it on his head. "You there, plant! You are now under my command."
"Oh, and don't forget this." Eda said as she takes out an Azure book and hands it to Luz who accepts
Max and Luz both walked up to the door. Max starts to think about what to do. He could go back home to the human realm and live his normal life, but he wants to learn how to control his new powers. That's when he made his decision
"So I guess this is goodbye" Shartok said sadly
"Wrong, Shartok. It's not goodbye. I'm not going home just yet" Max said
Luz, Shartok, Eda, and King were surprised
"Max?" Luz said
"Really?!" Shartok asked
"Yes. It's true that I want to go home, but I figured, maybe I can stick around for a while. You see, I don't have many friends back home and I've always been picked on and called names because of my hobbies. But when I came here and those guards experimented on me, I got the chance to meet all of you." Max explained
This made Shartok smile while Luz teared up a bit after hearing what Max had been through back in the human realm.
"Oh Max. You know what? I'm staying too. This was the most fun I've ever had" Luz said
Eda blinked in surprised at what the two humans said
"Me and Max don't fit in at home. You don't fit in here. If we both stay, we could not fit in together. I'm not going back to summer camp." Luz said as she takes out a pamphlet and crumbled it up
"What's summer camp? What are we talking about here?" Eda asked with a chuckle
" I want to stay and become a witch. Like you. And Azura" Luz replied as she held the book to Eda
"Not to mention, learning how to control my new powers. After what those guards have done to me, I might have new abilities ready to be unlocked. And what better teacher to help than the Owl Lady herself" Max said
"Aw thanks. Perhaps I can help you out with that. But what you're saying is crazy. Humans can't become witches" Eda said to Luz
"Maybe that's because they haven't tried. If you teach me to become a witch, I'll do anything you want." Luz said
"Me too." Max added
"Besides, this kid might have many other powers ready to be unleashed" Shartok said
"Let them stay. The girl can make us snacks" King said as he whispered the last part to Eda.
Eda smiles and picks up King
"Well, I could use a hand keeping this goofball out of the cupboards. All right. I'll teach you how to be a witch and teach you how to control your powers. But you two will have to work for me before you learn any spells and throwing projectiles. Deal?" she offered while holding out a hand
"You got a deal Owl Lady" Max said as he shook her hand
"Yeah. This kid's gonna need all the help he can get" Shartok said
"Not really helping" whispered Max
Luz then came in and pulled everyone into a hug
"Gah! What's going on?" Eda asked in surprised
"Too tight! Too tight!" King said
"I second that" Shartok added in the hug
Max said nothing but smiled as he was hugged
Max and Shartok was in one of the rooms in the Owl House. Max was fortunate that the room has a bed in it.
"Hey Shartok" Max said
"Yes, Max?" Shartok asked
"Why did you really helped me out by the way?" Max asked
"Well, to be honest. I just noticed you get taken away by those guards and I figured you need some help." Shartok replied "Before we met, I have been living out here in the Boiling Isles all by myself. I really don't have any friends. Everyone just sees me as a 'one eyed pest'"
Max widened his eyes at what the one eyed bat said. It was clear to him that Shartok was just like him.
"Wow. I guess we have a lot in common. Say, why don't we stick together." Max offered
"Really? You want to be friends with me?" Shartok asked
"Of course. We are both in the same boat when it comes to feeling like outcasts. And besides, it's just like Eda said: 'Us weirdos have to stick together'. Plus, I still need a guide to the Boiling Isles" Max said
Shartok smiled with tears in his eye
"Thank you" he said as he hugged him
Just then, a knock was heard on the door. Luz opened the door
"Hey, Max. Can I come in?" she asked
"Oh, sure Luz" Max said as Luz comes in his room. Shartok flew off his shoulder and lands on the window sill.
"So, you still haven't answer me this question, but... Have we met back in the human world?" Luz asked
Max begins to think and then comes up with an answer
"Well, I don't believe we officially met, but I think I have seen you in that cheerleading tryouts back at school." he answered
"Oh that. Yeah, I think that was an impressive trick" Luz said with a chuckle
"Yeah, but unfortunately I kinda gotten knocked over when everyone panicked" Max continued
"Oooh. Sorry about that" Luz apologized
"That's alright. By the way Luz, how did you get here in the first place?" Max asked
"Well, my mama wanted to send me to Reality Check Summer Camp. She wants me to 'balance checkbooks' and appreciate public radio'. She said that she wants to meet real friends. Then, when I put my Azure book into the trash bin, this tiny owl took it. I followed it and that's when I ended up here. And I think that's when I met Eda and then you" Luz explained
"Your mother was gonna send you to summer camp just to experience normalcy?" Max asked as Shartok widens his eye
"Yes. But to be honest, that's not me at all." Luz said glumly
"You told me that your mother wants you to make real friends rights? asked Max which Luz nods her head to
"Well, maybe I can be your friend" Max offered
"Really?" Luz asked with a smile
"Yeah. We're kinda outcasts back home and we both have different interests. And, I also kind of find your performance in the tryouts a little amusing" Max said
Luz giggled at what he said
"And besides, you don't have to be normal. You can express yourself however you like. My mom told me to 'never be afraid to be yourself'. You can too". Max finished
Luz smiled and run over to Max. She gives him a big hug
"Thanks Max" Luz said softly
"No problem" Max said as he returned the hug. They then broke the hug. Luz then went to the door and steps out
"Well, good night" she said
"Good night, Luz" Max said and Luz closes the door.
Max then took off his shoes and got into the bed
"Looks like you got yourself a girlfriend" Shartok commented
"It's not like that, Shartok. And besides, Luz is a little young for me. We are only friends." Max said as he pulls the covers up
"Okay okay" said Shartok as he flew up to the top of the window and hung by his feet to rest
Max then takes out his phone and begins to text to his mom
'Hey mom. Gonna be staying with a friend for a while. I'll be back soon' he texted
Max then puts his phone away and lies down
"Good night, Shartok" he said
"Good night, Max" Shartok said
And they both went to sleep.
