And now for the third episode of the Owl House.
I Was a Teenage Abomination
Eda, King, Luz, Max, and Shartok were at a beach. Eda has a big smile while, Luz, Max, and Shartok have mixed feelings.
"Well, Luz, Max, Shartok. Did you ever in your life think you'd see something as breathtaking as this?" the Owl Lady asked
"I don't like this" Luz said as she plugged her nose
"Me too. What is that thing anyway?" asked Max
"That there is a trash slug" Shartok answered as he held his wing over his nose
"The bat's right. The trash slug makes a home, a life from what others have thrown by the wayside. Until, blam, it gets blasted by a wave one day and croaks from all the salt. And then we get to sell the stuff it ate." Eda explained as she takes out a rubber chicken from the corpse's mouth and gets out a pickaxe.
Luz, Max, and Shartok we're all grossed out by this
"Please don't make me" the girl said
"Me too" Max added
"Count me out" Shartok added
"Aw, come on, you three. It's not every day you get to go to the dump and pick apart a garbage carcass." King said as he unfurls a towel
"Ah, nuts to all of you" Eda said as she begins to hit the pickaxe on the trash slug corpse
"Eda, I know that you're a powerful witch and all, but wouldn't we better off doing something else other than this?" Max asked
"Like what?" Eda asked
"Well, maybe new lessons like read ancient scrolls or mix together potions, or—" Luz said
"Ugh. That sounds like a bunch of magic school stuff." groaned Eda as she begins throwing junk out of the corpse
"Get out of town! There's a magic school here?" asked Max in surprise
"Like, winding towers, cute uniforms, dark plots that threaten your life kind of magic school?" Luz asked excitedly
"Mm-hmm. What's worse, they force you to learn magic the 'proper' way. But magic isn't proper. It's wild and unpredictable. And that's why it's so beautiful. I didn't finish school, and look at me! Who wouldn't envy where I am right now?" Eda asked
The two teens and bat both feel uneasy about this
" Uh... Hey, here's a lesson. A great witch is resourceful. Like this" Eda said as she grabs the two teens' hands and dunked them into a puddle trash slug bile
"I think I'm gonna be sick" Shartok said as he covers his mouth
"Me too" Max said as his hand went though the puddle
Luz digs through the puddle until she pulls out a ball of slime
"Oh, hey. Greasy slime ball." she said
"Use your slime ball wisely, young witch." Eda said as she closed Luz's hands around the slimeball
Max then pulled something out of the puddle. He shakes the slime off to reveal a pair of goggles that seems to be too small for him to wear
"Hmm. It's just a pair of goggles" Max said
"Can I have them?" Shartok asked
"Sure, but I might need to clean them first" Max replied as he puts it in his pocket.
"Alright, back at it! We'll hit the stink nodes first." Eda said
"Actually, if it's okay, I think I'll head home and look at pictures of animals that are still... alive. Love you, King. You little peach" Luz said as she backed away but not before rubbing King's belly
"Yeah, and I'll go ahead and try to control my fire form ability too." Max said as he and Shartok follow after Luz
"Smell ya later" Shartok said
"More for me, then." Eda said with a shrug
Max, Shartok, and Luz were walking through the woods.
"Ugh! If magic's all about digging for slime balls, maybe I don't have the stomach for it." Luz said as she pockets her slimeball
"I still can't believe that there's a magic school here. I thought they only exist in books and movies" Max said in disbelief
"Believe it, kid. There is such a school. There is one called Hexside School of Magic and Demonics. A lot of young witches and demons go there to learn different kinds of magic lessons. That also involves potions and reading ruins" explained Shartok
"Wow. That sounds interesting" Luz said
"I second that" said Max
"You can do it! You can!" said a female voice
This caught their attention
"Mysterious voice of encouragement?" asked Luz
They turn to where the voice is coming from. They knelt down and look through the bushes to reveal a black haired girl wearing glasses and pink robes.
"Nope. Just a girl" Shartok said
"You can do it. Even if you get a bad grade, it's not a reflection of you as a witch. And my parents are right." the girl said as she paced. "There are better opportunities on this track. Now, get to school!"
She steps on a flower by accident. The girl notices and gasps
"Oh, no! Oh, little friend! I'm sorry!" she cried
The girl knelt down and made a green circle around the flower to heal it. Luz gasps
"Wow" Max said
"Yep. What your seeing here is plant magic. It's quite handy for witches who specializes in the flora in the Boiling Isles" Shartok explained
Just then, another student came in while riding a cauldron. She had minty green hair and was also wearing the same robes as the glasses girl. She was also reading a book. She looks away from it to see the other girl.
"Willow! Wow. You're so unnoticeable I almost rolled into ya." The green haired girl said
The flower than wilted
"Hi Amity" said the girl know known as willow as she stood up
"Uh, shouldn't you get to class early to prep your..." Amity began until she gets cut off when Willow's cauldron shakes.
The cauldron then falls over and pours out a purple goo like substance with an eyeball
"Oh, Willow. You don't have anything to show, do you?" Amity asked
"Witch drama" whispered Luz
Willow pulls up her hood in embarrassment
"This is why people call you 'Half-a-Witch Willow.'" Amity sighed
Max narrows his eyes at Amity. This reminded him of the times when he was bullied back in the human realm.
"Oh, looks like someone wants to say something to you. Abomination, rise." Amity commanded as she takes off the lid of her cauldron and snaps her fingers
A purple like golem comes out
"You're a star" it moaned as it leaves a mud shaped star on Willow's forehead
"What is that thing?" whispered Max
"It's an Abomination. They're purple ooze like golems that witches use to do various tasks for them" Shartok answered
"Interesting." Max replied
"Aw. It's like mine. But much smaller and meaningless. As top student, it's my duty to tell you to keep at it. Even you could get a passing grade someday. Abomination, cower." Amity said. Her Abomination melts back in her cauldron and the girl puts the lid back on. "See you in class, superstar."
Amity rolls her cauldron away, leaving Willow alone. Both Max, Shartok and Luz glared at Amity. Luz stuck her tongue at her
"'Oh, see you in class, superstar!'" mocked Willow as she wipes off the mud from her forehead. "I hate when she does that."
'Wow. Someone sure is mad' thought Max as he watched Willow starting to rant
"I hate making abominations. I hate getting bad grades. Ugh! I can't stand this anymore." Willow yelled as her eyes glowed green
Max and Luz gasped at what they saw
"Oh my Titan!" Shartok yelled
Then, the large thorny roots appear from the ground. One of them grabbed Luz and pulls her in
"Luz!" Max and Shartok yelled
Max notices a root coming toward him, and dives out of the way and lands next to Luz. Willow then turns to them with her glowing green eyes. Shartok gulps
Max, Shartok, and Luz both faced Willow. Willow's eyes then turn back to normal and the roots around her fall
Oh, no, no, no, no, no! I'm so sorry!" Willow cried as she runs over to get Luz out of the roots
"It's okay. The thorns only went through a few layers of skin." Luz assured as she rubbed her leg
"Yeah. At least me and Max didn't get tangled up in your mess" Shartok said
"Whoa. A talking bat" Willow said. She then looks closely at Luz and Max's ears. "So circly"
Luz squeaked and covers her ears
"You're humans! This is astounding! Humans on the Boiling Isles! How'd you get here? What are you doing here?" Willow asked them
"I take it you've never seen humans before?" Max asked
Willow shook her head. Just then, the bell begins to ring
"Uh, I'm sorry. I can't stay. I have to go disappoint my teacher. It was nice to meet you, humans." Willow said as she begins to walk away
"Hold up. You're name is Willow right?" asked Max
Willow turns back to them
"My name is Max and this bat is my friend Shartok." said Max
"Hello" Shartok said
"And my name is Luz. What you did with that flower and those plants, it was... wow." Luz said
"Thanks, but... I'm not even supposed to be doing plant magic. My parents put me in the abomination track at school." Willow explained sadly
"Like in that magic school Shartok talked about?" Luz asked with a squeal
Willow nods her head
"That's so cool. I'm so jealous. We have a teacher, but her lessons are a bit... untraditional. I bet she wouldn't even let us enroll. But I wish I could spend one day there." Luz said
"Me too. I'm curious to know what that school looks like" Max added
Shartok nods his head
"I wish I could get a passing grade for once. Then people would stop calling me 'Half-a-Witch Willow.'" Willow sad as she kicked her abomination puddle causing it to moan
"Hey, wait. I know how we can both get what we want." Luz said as she begins to scoop up some Abomination goo with her hands. "Make me your abomination. I'll get you a good grade, and you can get me into magic school. It's fiendishly clever."
"What?" Max, Shartok, and Willow said in confusion
"I saw that girl's thing. It's just chunks of stuff that talks weird. I'm chunks of stuff, and I talk weird!" Luz explained
"That's true" Willow said with a giggle. "Okay. It's a deal.
"This is a great plan." Luz said as she and Willow both shook hands, but the abomination goo on Luz's hands leaves them stuck together.
"Oops. Abomination goo." Willow said
Luz uses her foot to free them and ends up falling into the puddle of Abomination goo. Max and Shartok wince at this
"Great plan." Luz said
"But what about you, Max?" Willow asked
"Don't worry about that Willow. If anyone asks, tell them that I'm a new transfer student" Max replied
"Yeah. So they won't get suspicious" Shartok added
"Okay then. Let's go" Willow said
Max and Shartok was walking with Willow towards a large building.
"Wow!" Max said in awe
"Yep. Welcome to Hexside School of Magic and Demonics. Remember to stay hidden, okay?" Willow told Luz
Luz can only squeal and giggle as they got close.
Before going in, Max stops at the entrance.
"You might want to wait out here, Shartok" Max said
"What?! Why?" Shartok asked
"Well, I'm not so sure if this school allows any animals in here." Max replied
"Aw" Shartok said as he flew off his friend's shoulder and lands on the ground
"Don't worry. We'll meet you out here when we're done" Max said as he runs inside
"Okay. Have fun" Shartok said as he watches him go
Max hurries after Willow in the school. They were at the lockers. Willow tickles her locker to make it open it's mouth so that she can get her books. Max was surprised by this
'Unusual lockers they have here' he thought
A male student reading a magazine walks up to them. He has dark skin, two tone brown hair, and brown eyes
"Willow, you would not believe humans." he said
"Humans? Psh. I haven't seen any. What?" Willow stammered
Max facepalms at this
"Did you know that humans nail barbed wire to their kids' teeth? But why? Maybe to make them magnetic." the boy said as he showed them the magazine
"Actually, it's for storing treats." Luz whispered
The boy looks at them confused
"Okay, Augustus. I'm gonna tell you something. But you have to be cool." Willow said
"I can be spool. I mean, cool." The boy now known as Augustsus said
"Okay. Abomination, rise." Willow commanded
"Ta-da! I'm an abomination." Luz said as she stands out of the pot
"Luz, that's not how abominations act." Willow said
"No. No, it... it couldn't be." Augustus said in surprise as he dropped his magazine
"He's the president of the Human Appreciation Society. Most witches wouldn't be able to recognize a human right away. But Augustus is an expert." Willow explained
"Is he now?" Max asked in interest. Augustus then notices Max
"Oh, hello. Are you new here?" he asked
"Uh, yeah. I'm a new transfer student." Max claimed
"Yeah. That's right. I was just giving him a tour of this place before he goes off to his class" Willow said
"Cool." Augustsus as he looks at Max. "Are you a human too?"
"Yup. Guilty as charged. My name is Max by the way. Nice to meet you" Max said
"Back at ya. I'm Augustus. So, where are your gills?" Augustus asked
"We don't have any gills. Unless you're talking about mermaids" Max replied
"I knew an Augustus back in the human world. We called him Gus." Luz said
"Gus? Nickname? Human nickname? Gus? Call me it. Wow. Gus. This is the best day of my life." Gus said in excitement
Then the school bell begins to scream
'And an unusual school bell' Max thought as he heard it
"I've gotta get to spelling class. See you guys at lunch!" Gus said as he picks up his magazine and runs off. Max, Willow, and Luz waved at him
"All right. Into the darkness you go." Willow said
Luz hisses and ducks back into the pot.
"I'm gonna go ahead and explore this school. I'll see you later" Max said as he walks off
"Okay, see you at lunch, Max" Willow said
Max was walking through Hexside exploring every part of it. He couldn't help but be impressed by the layout of the school. He then looked through some of the different classrooms. They were teaching different kinds of magic like Plant, Potion, Bard, and Healing.
'Wow. I have to admit. This school has everything. Almost like from the movies I've watched.' Max thought with a smile. He then takes out the pair of goggles from his pocket. 'I gotta clean these up for Shartok'
He notices a nearby restroom. Max went into the boy's room and uses the faucets and soap to rinse and lather it. And then, the goggles were all clean.
"There, good as new. Shartok is gonna love these" Max said
He then walks out of the school and down the hallway. But on the way he accidentally bumped into someone.
"Oh sorry." said a female voice
"No no, it's okay. I wasn't looking where I was going" Max said
When he got a good look, he saw that it was a girl about his age. She has long dark green hair tied in a ponytail, pale skin and golden eyes. She was wearing earrings on her pointed ears. The girl was also wearing the school uniform the students were wearing with light blue sleeves and leggings. Max blushes at the sight of her. He had never seen a girl so beautiful.
"Are you okay?" the girl asked
"Yeah. I'm fin. I mean fine" stammered Max which makes the girl giggle
"Anyway. My name is Max. What's yours?" Max asked
"Emira. Nice to meet you." She said as she and Max shook hands
"Emira. That's a pretty name" Max replied which earns him another giggle from Emira.
"Are you new around here?" Emira asked
"Uh, yeah. You could say that. I'm a new transfer student" Max claimed
"Really?" Emira asked as she tilts her head
"Yup. Anyway, I was just on my way to the Cafeteria. I have to meet some friends there" Max said
"Okay. Well, I'll see you later. It was nice meeting you, Max" Emira said
"It was nice meeting you too. Bye Emira" said Max as he walks off while waving
Emira blushed as she saw him walk away and was on her way herself
'He's kinda cute' she thought
After walking through the school, Max finally reached the cafeteria where he met Willow, Gus, and Luz there
"Hey guys" said Max
"Hi Max" they greeted
"So, how was class?" he asked
"It was great. In Willow's Abomination class, I really killed it out there as her abomination. And the teacher gave Willow an A. Plus, he even made her the new top student" Luz said as she pointed to the top student badge pinned to Willow's robe.
"But I fear that Amity might be on to us" Willow said in worry
"That would be bad" Max said as he sat next to them
"Hey. Do humans eat PB&J's?" Gus asked
"Oh my gosh, I haven't eaten real food in so long, please give me some." begged Luz
Gus breaks apart his peanut butter and jelly sandwich and gives a slice to her. Luz grabs it with her mouth and goes back inside the pot
"I don't know, Gus. If Amity saw that..." Willow said
As if on cue, Amity jumps onto their table which startles them
"I saw that! Abominations don't eat! I know you're in there! You can't hide from me. What are you? Who are you? I want answers!" demanded Amity as she grabs Luz and begins shaking her
"Amity Blight." said the Abomination teacher sternly
Amity stops shaking Luz and turns to him
"Huh?" she said
"I suspected a twinge of jealousy, but this, this is just sad." The teacher said
"But I—No! Look at it." Amity tries to explain
"Report to Principal Bump's office." The teacher ordered
"But" Amity said
"Now!" the teacher yelled
Amity lets go of Luz and runs off
"Phew. Saved by the teacher" Max said
"You can say that again" Luz added
The teens then appeared in an empty classroom.
"Whoo! I'm a sweaty little abomination." Luz said as she got out of the pot. "But now we don't have to worry about Amity. High five!"
She held out her hand. Gus and Willow just stares at it
"It's okay. Just slap it. Show them Luz" Max said
Luz slaps her hand together
"See? Now you try" Luz said
Gus hesitantly did so. He did it again several times and became even more confident
"Oh. Oh, my. Oh, man, what a rush!" he said
"Still, I'm not sure how long we can keep this charade up. It's only a matter of time before we get busted" Max said in worry
Just then, the classroom door opens. Amity and a man with a demon mask over his face who appears to be the principal, comes in.
"Good afternoon, students." the principal greeted
"Too late" gulped Max
"Principal Bump" Willow said
Luz quickly acted like an abomination again. Principal Bump kneels down to inspect her. He grabs her face and begins to turn her head
"Hmm. Abomination, rise" he commanded
Luz does so
"Abomination, lie." Bump commanded
"Uh, viral fame is a worthy pursuit. Your cat would never eat you if it got the chance. Chemtrails are real—" Luz fibbed before the principals cuts her off
"Oh, no, abomination. How strange for it to get the command wrong. I mean lie down." Principal Bump said as he points to a desk
Luz nervously did what he told her
'This does not look good' thought Max nervously
"So very lifelike. When Miss Blight told me about your abomination, I had to come by, see what she's made of." Principal Bump says
"Oh, I have her list of ingredients right here." Willow said
"No. We were hoping for a closer look. Willow, I'll allow you the first cut." The principal said as he takes out a dagger and hands it to Willow
Max gasped in fright. He feared what would happened if Luz was cut opened. Willow grinned nervously and walks over to Luz
"Uh, you can't just cut open a human, can you?" she asked quietly
Luz quickly shook her head
"Willow, go ahead and make the first incision." Principal Bump said
Knowing what has to be done, Max quickly tapped onto Gus' shoulder. Gus turns to him. Max then slaps his hands together. Gus caught on what he wants him to do.
"Wait, Principal Bump! Uh, high five!" he said as he knocked over three pots. Three abominations come out
"Run!" Gus yelled
Willow and Luz both ran out of the room. Amity finally notices Max
"Hey! I've seen you hanging with them back at the cafeteria! Who are you!? And who is that 'abomination'!? Answer me!" she demanded
"Uh, I'm a new transfer student here" Max said
"That's funny. I don't recall any transfer students applying here" Principal Bump said as he narrows his eyes at him
Max widens his eyes as they found him out. Thinking quickly, he began create a distraction
"Hey! What's that over there!" he said as he pointed to the left
Amity and Principal Bump looked to the left in confusion. Max quickly ran out of the room. Realizing they had been tricked, Amity growled angrily
"They're getting away!" yelled Amity
"No, the intruders won't get far." Principal Bump said as he begins drawing a circle on the wall
Luz and Willow ran through the hallways and catch their breaths at a corner
"This is all my fault, Willow. I just wanted to see what a real magic school was like." Luz said
"Well, how do you like it?" Willow asked
"It's lovely, actually." Luz answered
This caused them to giggle
"Girls!" Max called
They turn to see Max run up to them while panting
"Max!" Luz and Willow said
"Thank goodness you two are okay. They found me out" Max said
"We should get out of here before..." Willow said until red light patterns begin to seal off every doorway and hallways. "Bump seals us in"
Max can only gulp nervously
The girls and Max ran through the school to escape, but when they attempt to reach a doorway, it gets sealed off. They turn to see Principal Bump commanding some abominations to go after them. The group ran behind another pillar.
"Oh, this is awful. I don't know what to do. Amity's right. I'm just Half-a-Witch Willow." Willow said sadly as she slumped down on the ground
"You're wrong about that, Willow" Max replied
"He's right. You're Full-Witch Willow. And you're great." Luz added
"Remember when you used that spell to heal that flower you accidentally trampled on and when you unleashed those thorny roots in anger? You may not be good with Abominations, but you are good with plants" Max reminded
Willow gasped at what they said. She then recalled when she lashed out in anger and how she first met them.
"Yeah. And someone once told me great witches are resourceful." Luz said as she takes out the contents from her pocket.
"That's it!" Willow said as she took the slime ball from Luz's hand
"You mean that greasy slime ball?" Luz asked
"Luz, it's a seed! Thank goodness you had it on you." Willow said
"Hmmm. Looks like Eda's lesson helped after all" Max said
"Who knew?" Luz said
Willow puts the seed on her lap and drew a small circle over it.
"Please grow!" Willow yelled
Suddenly, viney thorns came out of the seeds.
"Duck!" cried Max as he and Luz duck down
The roots stabbed the abominations and grabs Principal Bump, pinning him to the ceiling. The principal saw the school's interior covered with vines.
"Remarkable." Principal Bump said
The lights that were sealing the hallways fades away
"There's the exit!" Luz said
"Let's get outta here!" Max added
Luz, Max, and Willow raced to the exit, but Amity blocks their path
"Not so fast!" Amity shouted
"Uh oh!" Max said
"I'm not letting you get away so easily. I want my badge! Abominations, seize!" Amity ordered
A group of abominations surround them. Max glared at them and with yell changes into his pyro form. Willow, Amity, and Principal Bump all gasped at this. Max then charges and delivers a series of punches and spin attacks which knocks them down to pieces. Max then motions the girls to follow him and they run straight to the exit. Amity growls in anger and conjures up more Abominations to block their path. This caused the girls to gasp as they walk up to them.
"Get back!" Max yelled as he held out his hands. But when he does that, streams of fire shot out of his palms
Amity yelps and dives out of the way while the Abominations were burned to ashes.
"Even more remarkable" Principal Bump said as he witnessed this
Max then stops shooting fire from his hands as he powers down.
"Wow" said Max as he looks at his hands
"That was awesome, Max!" Luz said as she and Willow run up to him
"Heh! Thanks" Max said with a smile
"How did you do that by the way?" Willow asked
"Well, let's just say that those guards out there experimented on me. And that's pretty much why I have these powers" Max said
"Yikes" Willow said
"I know" Max replied
"Come on, Max. Let's get out of here" Luz said as they ran out of the school.
Max turns to Willow
"You're not coming, Willow?" Max asked
"No, I may get detention, but your friend may get dissected" Willow said
Suddenly, the abominations re-assembled themselves and approaches her. Willow casts a spell and uses the roots to hold them off
"Go on you two, get out of here while you still can!" she yelled as the door to the school closes
"No!" Luz cried
"Come on Luz, let's go back to the Owl House!" Max said
"Right! Maybe Eda can help us" Luz said
Up in the air, Shartok notices them and flew down to them
"Hey guys!" he said as he landed on Max's shoulder
"Oh, Shartok. I almost forgot about you." Max said
"So, how was school?" the bat asked
"Well, let's just say that we bombed it" Max replied
"Huh?" Shartok said in confusion
"We'll explain later. Right now, we need to get Eda" Luz said as she and Max take off
"Oh. Okay" Shartok said still confused
Back at the Owl House, Eda was facing off against a trash slug that King named Prince Jr. She was luring it to the house where King was pushing a barrel of salt on the roof.
"Pour the salt, now" Eda ordered
"Baby boy" King said. The giant trash slug whimpered and then roared. "I have no son. Eat salt!"
King poured the entire salt into Prince Jr.'s mouth. The trash slug then shrinks down to down. It crawls away in fright.
"Yes, I did it! I'm amazing!" King cheered until he falls off the roof. Luckily, Eda catches him. "You helped too. You are a good teacher."
" I wish Luz and Max thought that too." Eda said
"Eda!" Luz cried as she and Max and Shartok runs up to them.
Luz runs up to Eda and King and hugs them
"Hey, hey, hey, hey! What is this? Ugh! I never understand when you do this." said Eda
"Your lesson worked! Keeping junk in my pocket saved my life! But wait. My new friends. They're in danger." Luz gasped
"Which is why we need your help" Max added
"Luz!" Willow cried
"Max!" Gus cried
They turn to see Willow and Gus run up to them and hug them
"Guys! You're okay." Max said with a smile
"Seriously. What is this?" Eda asks
Gus then notices Shartok on his shoulder
"Hey Max. What's with the bat? Is he your pet?" Gus asked
"I am not a pet!" Shartok yelled out
"Whoa. And it talks too" Gus said in surprised
"That's right Gus. He's my friend. Gus this is Shartok. Shartok this is Augustus but you can call him Gus"
"Uh. Hello, Gus" Shartok said
"Nice to meet you, Shartok" Gus greeted
"You won't believe it, Luz. Everything is perfect now!" Willow said
"It's true. I don't believe it." Luz replied
"Principal Bump was so impressed by my plant work he's switching me to the plant magic track! Look!" Willow said as she snaps her fingers. The color on her arms and leggings changes from pink to green.
"Whoa" Shartok said
"Yes!" Luz yelled as she hugs Willow again
"Congratulation, Willow." Max said
"Thanks, Max" Willow said with a blush
"Oh. What about Amity?" Luz asked
"Last we saw, she was asking Bump if today could count as extra credit." Gus explained
"Poor girl" Max said with a facepalm while Shartok looks at him in confusion
"Well, I can't wait to see you in action next time I sneak in" Luz said
Willow and Gus winced at this
"Uh, about that. You and Max are both banned" Gus said as he and Willow showed them two banned posters with their pictures on them
"That's my apprentices!" shouted Eda
"But we could come here and teach you what we learned." Willow said
"We would like that Willow" Max said
"But... we have a pretty great teacher already." Luz said as they turned to Eda
"Yeah, that's right. Luz and Max are my student. Back off, academy twerps." Eda said as she takes the posters
This caused the kids to laugh. Even Shartok laughed
"Ah, baby's first wanted poster. Although Max already has one. Good job, you two. Looks like I taught you two something after all." the Owl Lady said as she patted their heads
"Uh, you high five with your hands, not your head." Gus told her which confuses Eda
Shartok looks at Max in confusion which he shrugs his shoulder
Back Max and Shartok's room, the boy was explaining to Shartok what had happened back in Hexside
"So let me get this straight. Luz helped Willow become the top student in the Abomination Class and Luz nearly got dissected by the Principal?" Shartok asked
"Yep." Max said
"And when Amity tried to stop you guys from leaving, you shot a stream of fire from your hands to burn them down?" Shartok asked
"Uh huh" Max said
"Whoa! Now I really wished I was there" Shartok said
"I know. It was a shock for me too. I guess I'm slowly unlocking new abilities with these powers" Max said
"Good on ya, kid" Shartok said
"By the way. I have something for you" Max said as he reaches into his pocket and pull something out. It was the goggles. Shartok gasped
"The goggles! You cleaned them!" he said
"I sure did, buddy" Max said
Shartok takes the goggles and puts them on his head
"Heh. I look good" Shartok said.
"Are you sure you want them? You only have one eye" Max said
"That's true. But I think they feel stylish" Shartok answered
Max just shook his head in amusement. Just then, a knock was heard on his door.
"Come in" he said
The door opens to reveal Eda.
"Hey Max. Would you mind coming outside? I have something to show you" she said
"Sure" Max said as he and Shartok walks out the room
They then made their way to the door
"What do you think she wants you to see?" Shartok asked
"I'll guess we'll find out when we're outside" Max answered
Max and Shartok both walked outside the Owl House. They gasped to see a some targets outside
"Ta-da!" Eda yelled as she appeared behind one of the targets
"Eda, what's all this?" Max asked
"Your training. After you told me what happened back at Hexside, I figured now might be a good time to begin training your powers. So I set up these targets for you to knock down" Eda explained as she walks up to them.
"Really?" Max asked excitedly
"Yep. Okay. To start off, you have to go into your pyro form and destroy all the targets" Eda instructed "Try shooting a stream of fire on one of the targets"
"Easy enough" Max said as he changes into his pyro form
He then shot at the stream of fire which burns down one of the targets
"Yeah! You got it, Max!" Shartok cheered
"Not bad, kid. Now we'll work on throwing fireballs" Eda said as she conjures up another target to replace the other one
"Fireballs?" Max asked
"Yep. While your powers involves focus, it also involves accuracy" Eda said
"But how do I create a fireball?" asked Max
"Simple. You just hold out your hands and concentrate. Try to picture the fireball appearing in your hand and it will appear" Eda instructed
"Here goes" Max said
He held out his hand and concentrate on the fireball that will appear in his hand. And then, the fireball did appear in his hand
"Hey, I did it!" the boy said
"Nice work, kid. Now throw it at the targets. Be sure to knock every one of them down" Eda instructed
Max threw the fireball, but misses the target
"Aw" Max said
"You missed" Shartok said
"Don't worry. Keep at it. You just need to aim the fireball before shooting it" Eda encouraged
Max nods his head. It took a few tries to hit. Until he finally hit the target. Eda, Max and Shartok smile at this. Max then threw more fireballs and was able to knock them all down. He then powers down
"Phew. I did it" Max said
"Good work, Max" Shartok said
"Yeah. You're a natural, kid. If you you ever want to train some more, the targets will be here waiting for you" Eda said as she conjures up more targets
"Thanks, Owl Lady" Max said with a smile
