Hooty's Moving Hassle
Inside the Owl House, Eda and Owlbert was playing a card game while, Luz, King, Max, and Shartok were watching them.
"Watch closely, kids. Hexes Hold'em is the most tricky game on the Boiling Isles. Any proper witch knows how to play" Eda said
"Oh boy, cards! The paper rectangles that old people think are fun!" Luz exclaimed
"Back where we're from, I have only heard of some popular card games. Most of them are trading card games" Max said
"And what would they be?" Shartok asked
"Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokémon" Max replied
"Oh" Shartok said
Eda places one card on the table. Suddenly, the lightning comes from the cards. They suddenly stand up and begins to roar at each other. Owlbert's cards begins to attack Eda's.
'Whoa! I've never seen trading card games do that' thought Max in shock
"Now when it looks like the deck is stacked against you, that's when you break out the wildcard." Eda explained as she takes out another card
The card glows green and destroys Owlbert's cards. Then fiery letters spell out: WINNER: EDA. Owlbert extends his wings and bows in defeat.
"Wow. Impressive" Max said
"That's how you play the game. If you are interested that is" Shartok added
"I would rather stick to normal trading card games" Max replied
"Woo, I win! In your adorable owl face. Ah, I love the feeling of victory; it feels... fluffy?" Eda asked as feathers start to grow out of her arms
"Uh, Eda? It's happening again!" Luz said
"What's happening again?" Eda asked
"Your curse is returning!" King yelled
"You see the feathers here?" Shartok added
Eda looked at her arms and yelps
"We better get you an elixir and fast!" Max yelled as they all run up the stairs
Once upstairs, Eda opens a chest for her elixirs. Unfortunately, the bottles were all empty
"Oh, boy. This is terrible. I'm all out of elixir" Eda said
Shartok gulped at this
"Uh, last time this happened, you turned into this thing" Luz said as she holds up her phone and shows the Owl Beast on her screen
"I know I should be repulsed, but that look is fierce." Eda said
"Yeah. Especially the part where you tried to eat me!" Shartok yelled
"You were out of control!" Max added
"You're right, you're right. We need to head to the market." Eda said
"Let's get going" Max said
"Market!" Luz yelled
They walked to the door.
"I'm stealing everything that's not nailed down!" King exclaimed as he follows after them
"Before we go, would anyone like to play one more hand of Hexes Hold'em?" Eda asked. She pats her pockets. "Hey, where are my cards?"
Luz has the cards behind her backs and is giving it to Owlbert.
"Take these and fly ahead. She'll have to follow us." she whispered
Owlbert does what she said as he flew out
"Owlbert, you sore loser, gimme back my cards!" the Owl Lady demanded as she chased after him
Max looks at Shartok who shrugs his shoulders
At Bonesborough, Eda was banging on a window to a store named Mr. Elixir
"Hey! Open up, Morton!" she called
"Uh, ju— just a minute!" Morton replied back
King walks off and sits with Luz, Max, and Shartok on a bench
"Sure is a peaceful day out here" Max said
"Unless you count what's happening on the streets" Shartok said as he points at the street
On the street, three witches at a bus stop. Then, a giant egg rolls over. It hatches and out comes a large featherless bird who screeches and flies away. The three witches get in shell and closes it. The tiny nosed demon chases after it
"Wait, wait! Aw, dang it." she said
"The curse of tiny legs." Luz commented
"I know the pain." King added
"Thank goodness I can fly" Shartok said
Just then, multiple people wearing cloaks arrive while pushing a cart with a large demon tied to it. Luz, Max, Shartok, and King walks up to Eda
"Whoa! That is one ominous parade" Luz said
"That's no parade. Those are demon hunters. Dangerous nomads who capture and sell the most powerful beasts" said Eda
They watched as the large demon attempts to bite at one of them. But a hunter forms a magic circle and blasts green electricity to knock the demon out.
'Almost reminds me of the bounty hunters from Dungeons and Dragons' thought Max
Then one of the hunters look at them. Luz gasps while Shartok yelps and hides behind Max.
"Which I'm about to become if you don't open up, Morton!" Eda shouted as she continues to bang on the grate
Morton then opens up the grate
"Sorry, Eda! I was up all night poison tasting and for some reason, I don't feel great." Morton said
"I think you need to lay off on that" Shartok replied
"You may be right, talking bat" Morton sighed
"I'm all outta my juice, pal." Eda said
"Oh, gee. Lemme see what I can do." Morton said as he begins to dig through his inventory
Just then, Gus and Willow walks up looking down on the ground.
"Hey look, Max. It's Willow and Gus" Luz said as she tugs on Max's sleeve
Max and Shartok sees them and they along with Luz walk up to them.
"Hey friends" Luz greeted
"What's up?" Max added
He and Shartok notice them looking sad
"Are you guys okay?" Max asked
"Why the long faces?" Shartok asked
"Yeah. Who hurt my babies?" Luz asked
"Them" Willow answered as she points back
Luz, Max, and Shartok look to see Amity and a few other teenage girls with her
"Amity's having a moonlight conjuring and invited everyone but me." Willow explained
"And she keeps posting about it on her Penstagram account." Gus added as he summons his scroll and shows a picture of Amity and her friends posing together. A message then appears below it.
"'It's conjuring night! No dorks allowed'?" read Shartok
"What a jerk!" Luz said with a scowl
"I know. They're just doing this to show off their superiority" Max replied with a scowl. "What is a moonlight conjuring anyway?"
"You spend the night at someone's house, telling stories, playing games..." Willow explained
"Like a slumber party! We have those!" Luz exclaimed
"What's a slumber party?" asked Shartok
"It's when a group of people would get together overnight. Of course, I'm not really into it that much" Max said as he shrug his shoulders
"Back to what I'm saying. You then bring something to life with moon magic!" Willow continued as she holds up a book
"Like a weird slumber party!" Luz said
"She does have a point" Max said to Shartok
"Gus and I have never been to one. You need at least three people and—" Willow said until Luz cuts her off
"I'm three people—I mean, we're four people, five if you count Shartok and we're way better than them!" Luz said "Are you interested Max?"
"Actually I was thinking about training tonight. But thanks anyway" Max said
"Okay" Luz said
Just then Amity's group walked up
"Sorry you couldn't get an invite to the conjuring, Willow. Only real witches allowed." a witch named Boscha said with a laugh
"Leave her alone. It's not her fault she was born without talent." Amity said as they walked away
Willow growled which causes several vines to come out of the ground. Luz, Max, and Shartok saw this
"Oh no!" Shartok gulped
"Uh, Willow. You might want to calm down now." Max warned as Luz smacks one away
"Don't waste your time getting thorny over them. 'Cause we're gonna have our own moonlight conjuring." Luz said
"Are you serious? This was on my bucket list. After owning a real human bucket!" Gus said as he takes out a list and check something
'Way to be literal, Gus' thought Max
"That's a really weird thing to want, but I appreciate your enthusiasm. We'll go tell Eda." Luz said as she grabs Max's hand and runs up to Eda.
"I've got bad news and good news. Bad news is I'm all out 'till next week. Good news is feathers are a good look for you." Morton said to the Owl Lady
Just as he said that, a feather grew on Eda's head
"Morton!" she yelled as she begins to advance on him
"Well gee, E. Why'd you wait to re-up 'till now?" Morton asked
"I've been very busy." replied Eda
"Yeah, busy playing Hexes Hold'em. She's obsessed with it." King said as he sat on a bench
"I am not obsessed!" Eda shot back
"You're playing it right now!" King pointed out
King was indeed correct as Eda has now placed the cards on the counter
"Am I winning?" Eda asked
"You know, I wouldn't suggest this to just anybody, but if you need your elixir you could try your luck later this evening." Morton said
"In the night market?" asked Eda
"There's a guy with a stand, goes by Grimm Hammer; if anyone has what you need, it's him." Morton replied
Luz, Max, and Shartok walks up to her
"Eda, Gus and Willow and I are gonna do a moonlight conjuring and stick it to Amity. So can we—" Luz said
"Not tonight, I'm going out." Eda interrupted. "I need you to watch the house, I have many precious objects in there."
She picks up her staff and begins to walk to the bench
"Like me" King said until Eda grabs him
"You're coming with me. I need an extra pair of eyes looking out for pickpockets, and an extra pair of hands in case I want to pickpocket." she told him
"Pickpocket!" they yelled
"That figures" Shartok replied
"Then, maybe they can come to the house and—" Luz said but is interrupted again by Eda
"No! Besides, conjurings are dumb; sitting in a circle holding hands. Pft. It's like magic for babies." Eda said as she and King walks away
"I guess that answers that" Max sighed
Willow and Gus then goes up to them
"Luz, Max. What did Eda say?" Willow asked
"So... guys.." Luz said until Gus interrupts her
"Oh, look! The moon is rising into place. And the celestial powers only align once a year." he said as he points upwards. Everyone looks up to see the moon rising in the sky
"Oh, I can't believe I finally have enough friends for a moonlight conjuring! Thank you, Luz! Did Eda say it was okay?" Willow asked
Max, Shartok, and Luz flinched at this.
"Uhm... yes. She said yes. We can do it at the Owl House. As long as we don't make a mess or touch anything and never bring up that we did it!" Luz fibbed while laughing nervously
"Yes!" Gus yelled
"Oh, you're the best!" Willow yelled
"We're gonna do a conjuring! We're gonna do a conjuring! Conjuring! Conjuring!" they sang
"Are you sure it's a good idea to lie to them like that?" Max whispered to Luz
"I know it's lying, but I don't want to disappoint them" Luz whispered back
Shartok looks up to see the moon
It was night time. Inside the Owl House, Eda was getting ready to go out with King to the night market.
"Alright, you three are in charge while I'm out. Make sure Hooty doesn't get into any trouble." Eda instructed
"Hoot hoot! I don't need a babysitter. I'm a big boy house!" Hooty claimed as he opens his door
"You can count on us, Owl Lady" Shartok said
"We'd never betray your hard-earned trust." Luz added with a nervous laugh
"Uh, yeah. What they said" Max replied nervously
"You're all acting suspicious. You're doing that thing where you hide in your hoodie, Luz." Eda said while narrowing her eyes
"Meow I'm not. Uh..." Luz said with her hood on her head. She then uncovers herself. "Uh, Oh, where's King?"
"He's right here." Eda answered as she uncovers her cloak to reveal King strapped to a pink baby carrier. He was sleeping. "His little body just conks out when he's weightless. Look at this."
Eda begins to shake back and forth, but King continues to sleep. Shartok snickers quietly at this
"That's kinda precious" Max commented
"Aww, he's so dangly." Luz cooed as she plays with King's feet
The Owl Lady then steps outside with Luz, Max and Shartok following after.
"Anyway, really going now. And Luz, Max...
"Yes?" Max asked
"If you two mess up the house, I will never trust any of you again." Eda said in a menacing tone
Max and Shartok both gulped at this
"No pressure! Bye!" Eda said as she and King flew off on the staff.
Max, Shartok, and Luz waves goodbye.
"Okay, she's gone." Luz whispered to some nearby bushes.
"Release!" Willow said as she and Gus appeared from the bushes. "I'm a sneaky sneakster!"
"I've got leaves in my pants...and I like it." Gus added
Luz then begins to lead them inside
"Are going to join us, Max, Shartok?" she asked
"You guys go on ahead. Me and Shartok will be out here training." Max said as Shartok nods his head
"Okay. If you need us, we'll be inside" Luz said as she opens the door
"Company! Hooray! Finally someone to listen to my stories! Okay, one time, a sparrow flew into my mouth, and then I—" Hooty said until the door closes. "Hey"
Hooty then coughs out a sparrow much to Max and Shartok's disgust
"So, shall we do some training?" Shartok asked
"Oh yeah" Max replied
Luz was showing Gus and Willow around the Owl House
"Welcome to, the living room. We call it that because it's technically living! The walls are breathing, look!" she said
"Enchanting" Willow said as she observed a wall breathing heavily
"And look at all these human treasures." Gus said as he rummages through a chest and takes out a skull. "And actual humans!"
"We've got snacks, we've got weird music!" Luz said as she turns on a nearby gramophone that emits a cackle.
"We've got a bucket!" Gus said with a bucket on his head
"Gus, my man." Luz said
"And best of all we have actual friends to do the conjuring with! This is so exciting!" Willow added
"So how does this conjuring stuff work?" Luz asked
"Well first, we find an object to animate. Since it's our first time we should pick something meaningful. Something beautiful." Willow explained as she looks at a flower
"Like this strangely buff little man?" Gus asked as he holds out an action figure. He then taps the stomach
"I'm half beef, half Bob!" it said
"Yes! He's perfect!" Luz said
"That's not exactly what I meant by 'beautiful'." Willow said
This caused Gus to feel hurt
"Okay, buff boy it is." Willow replied
"Yes!" Luz said as she hugs Willow
"Tonight he shall be risen!" Gus yelled
Outside the Owl House, Max was in his electric form and begins to shoot several electric balls to destroy. After destroying the last of the target, Max powers down and puts his hands on his knees as he begins to pant.
"Phew. That's the last of them" Max said
"Yeah. You're getting pretty sharp, kid" Shartok added
"Thanks. I have to keep at it if I want to be at my best" Max said as he sat down with Shartok joining him
"Are you still thinking about going to Hexside?" asked Shartok
"Pretty much. That school has everything about the different lessons in magic. Almost like in those Harry Potter movies I've seen. If it's anything like it" Max replied
"Harry Potter?" asked Shartok confused
"It's a series of books written by J. K. Rowling. It's about a boy who learns to be a wizard" Max replied
"Interesting" Shartok said
"Also, I met someone there" Max said
"Oooh. Is it a girl?" Shartok asked
"Yes. And please don't tease me about it. I just met her" Max replied
"I understand. But let me know if you want to date her" Shartok said
"Shartok!" Max yelled in embarrassment
Suddenly, the ground starts to shake which catches Max and Shartok by surprise
"What's going on?" asked Shartok
"Whatever it is, must be coming from the Owl House" replied Max as he and Shartok looks at the house
Just then, the Owl House rises from it's foundation and is standing on giant bird legs.
"Holy cow!" Max yelled as Shartok watches with his mouth agape
Just then, Luz, Willow, and Gus runs out of the door and looks down to see Max and Shartok
"Luz, what have you done?!" called Max
"Well, me, Willow, and Gus were doing a moonlight conjuring to animate Gus' doll and we may have accidentally brought the Owl House to life" Luz explained
Just then, the Owl House begins to walk away. Max and Shartok both dived out of the way to avoid getting stepped on.
"Whoa. Now that's one way to move from a neighborhood" Shartok quipped
"Quick! Follow that house!" Max said
Shartok flew on Max's shoulder and they both ran after the house. Just as they caught up to it, the Owl House stopped at the edge of a cliff. It then begins to step back. Seeing this, Max and Shartok ran back a few feet so they won't get stepped on.
"What just happened?" Shartok
"I have a feeling that Luz, Willow, and Gus are behind this" Max said "Come on. Let's get up there"
Max and Shartok begins to make their way towards the house, but the house begins to walk away again
"It's getting away!" Shartok yelled
"We better not lose it" Max added
And with that, the duo begins to chase after the house
'Hang in there, guys. We're coming for you' thought Max
Unbeknownst to them, a Demon Hunter was watching the Owl House walking away
Max and Shartok continue to chase after the runaway house, but then it stops again
"It stopped again" Shartok said
"This time we'll get up there" Max added
They then make their way over to one of the bird legs and begins to climb up. But just as they were climbing...
"Hey. H-Hey you. You should, uh, stop being so mean to people. You're kind of a jerk." Luz called
Max and Shartok stopped as they heard this
"What was that?" Shartok asked
"I think that was Luz. What is she doing up there?" Max asked
Back to Luz, she was speaking through an illusionary megaphone that Gus has conjured up. She was actually speaking to Boscha.
"But don't you see? I am no mere house." Luz said
The Owl House then stood up and roared. Max had to hold on so he wouldn't fall off. He continues to climb up the leg. Meanwhile, Boscha was scared out of her mind and runs off
"Almost there" Max said
But just then, the house begins to take off again. Max and Shartok yelped as they held onto the leg
"Well, here we go again" Shartok said
"Could this night get any worse?" moaned Max
But just as he said that, a bunch of shadows jumped after the moving house.
The Owl House begins to stomp through the streets of Bonesborough, scaring some of the citizens away. As it was doing that, Shartok had just flew up to the ledge of the house while Max had to leap onto the ledge and hoist himself up.
"We finally made it" Max said
"Yeah. Now all we have to do is make our way to Luz and the others and convince them to turn this house around" Shartok added
Max and Shartok then begins to walk on the side of the walking house until it stops. Curious, they peered to the right to see that they're in front of a manor and a sign that says "Blight Manor".
"Blight Manor? This is where Amity lives?" Max asked curiously
"Correct. It's actually home to the Blight family. They're the wealthiest family in the Boiling Isles who are known for creating different types of Abominations weapons and security systems" Shartok explained
"Let me guess? You flew into their home?" Max asked
"Yep. But without them noticing" Shartok replied
Suddenly, a rope went over the roof of the house. Then a second rope goes over the house which secures it while also making the house shake a bit
"What's going on?" Shartok asked
"I don't know, but something tells me we're gonna need to go in the back" Max said
Then the duo then went to the back of the house. They notice a window in the back. Shartok flew up to it and opened. Max then jumped up to the window and the duo climbed inside.
We now see the Owl House on a large cart and being pulled by the dark hunters. Inside, Max and Shartok were walking through house after climbing in the back window.
"Lucky thing there was a back window" Shartok said
"Yeah. Now we just need to find Luz and the others" Max added
The duo made their way through the corridor. They then see Luz, Gus, and Willow all tied up.
"There they are. But they're all tied up" Shartok whispered
"I wonder who did that" Max said
They both attempt to get close to them, the house then shook causing the duo to fall over. Even Luz, Willow, and Gus fell over by the sudden jolt. Max and Shartok then slowly got up.
"What just happened?" asked Max
"I think the house shook" Shartok replied
Just then, the door knob begins to turn. Seeing this, Max and Shartok both hid behind a nearby doorway. Taking a quick peek, they see one of the demon hunters open it and pushes them outside. As the door closes, Max and Shartok came through the doorway
"The Demon hunters? What are they doing here?" Max asked
"They must've saw the house and captured it" Shartok replied. "That also includes tying up Luz and the others"
The duo raced over to the window and watched as one of the demon hunters were pushing their friends near a cliff. Meanwhile, outside...
"Alrighty, kids. Here's the end of your short little lives" one of the hunters said as he pushed Luz, Willow, and Gus at the edge of the cliff
"Wait! Wait! Wait!" Gus yelled as he turns to the hunter. "Is this really what you wanna be doing with your life? Tossing kids from cliffs?"
"Actually, yes. It's been my dream since I was a boy." The hunter replied. This earned him a stare from the kids. "I was a strange child"
Before he can push them off, Max kicks open the door.
"Ow!" Hooty yelled while in a trance like state
"Not so fast!" Max yelled
Everyone looks to see him and Shartok coming out
"Max! Shartok!" Luz, Willow, and Gus yelled
"Let them all go!" yelled Shartok
"Okay" the dark hunter said. He then pushes the friends off the cliff
"No!" Max and Shartok yelled
"Who is this?" one of the dark hunters asked
"I have no idea" one of the dark hunters asked
"This is none of your business, kid. Leave now!" commanded the lead demon hunter
But Max, angered at his friends being pushed off the cliff, roared in anger as he unleashed his pyro form much to the hunters surprise
"Whoa!" one of the hunters
"Oooh. You guys are in trouble now" Shartok said
"You are going down! All of you!" Max yelled
"I don't know what just happened, but we're gonna put a stop to it. Get em you fools!" the lead hunter yelled
The demon hunters took out their weapons took out their weapons and charge at Max and Shartok. The smallest hunter attempts to attack them with a small hammer, but Max easily kicks him away. As the other demon hunters surround him, Max does a fire slash which knocks some of them away. Two more then ran at them, but Max does a low sweep to knock one hunter down. The other hunter attempts to hit them with his weapon, but Max grabs it which allows Shartok to fly over and scratch him across the hunter's face. Max then took the opportunity to run up and give the hunter a punch to the face which knocks him down. Seeing his comrades down, the Demon hunter leader gowled in anger
"Enough! I will take you down myself" he yelled as he unsheathed his sword and charges at them
"Watch out, Max!" Shartok warned
"Whoa!" Max shouted as he dodges a slash from the leader's sword. As the leader attempts to strike at him again, Max does a back flip away from the attack. Max then begins to shoot several fireballs at the leader, but he slashes every fireball with his sword as he got closer to them. The leader then traces a green circle and electricity comes out of his hands. He then zaps Max and Shartok, causing them to fall to the ground and Max powers down. They groaned as they got up, only to see the Demon hunter leader pointing his sword at them. As he did that, the other demon hunters begin to get up.
"You should've left when you had the chance, boy. Now it's time to end this!" the leader yelled as he held the sword above his head. But before he can do so, something rose up from behind him.
"Hey!"
The Demon hunters, Max, and Shartok look to see Luz, Willow, and Gus on top of a leaf of a large plant. Max and Shartok both smile at their friends being alive.
"Leave them alone!" Willow yelled. She then commanded a vine to cut the rope and then had the vines attack the hunters. The leaves then lowers down as Luz, Gus, and Willow then ran over to Max and Shartok and helps them up.
"Guys, you're alive!" Max said as they gave a group hug
"We sure are, Max" Luz replied
"But how did you survive?" Shartok asked as he flew onto Max's shoulder
"After the hunter pushed us over the cliff, we were able to get caught on a nearby branch. Luckily, Willow reached for a nearby root and used her magic to make it into a large plant." Gus explained
"Incredible" Max said in awe
"We may be children, but we're also witches. Powerful ones." Willow said
"No doubt about it" Shartok replied while Max shook his head in amusement
"Come on guys. Let's get inside" Luz said
"Right" everyone said
As the demon hunters were busy fighting off the plant, the kids raced over to the Owl House and went inside
"Everyone. Quick!" urged Luz
They then held hands, making the Owl House stand up. Just as the lead Demon Hunter used his magic to subdue the plant, he notices the house standing
"Uh" he said nervously. The Owl House then stomped on him. The guys watched from the window
"Oooh." Max said with a cringe
"He's sure gonna be sore in the morning" added Shartok
Luz then notices the moon about to set
"Oh, no. I don't mean to step on this victory but we gotta get home before Eda does." Luz said
"Yeah. We gotta put the Owl House back where it belongs" Max added
Willow and Gus both nod their heads. And so, Luz, Gus, and Willow both joined hands and the Owl House walks away.
The Owl House then walked through the market district of Bonesborough. It then steps on a nearby stand.
"Sorry, mister!" Luz called from the window
"I just hope that Eda doesn't find out about this" Max said
"Ditto" Shartok added
A few minutes later, the Owl House went back to it's usual place and sat down on the crater.
"Did we do it?" Luz asked
The door opened to reveal Hooty back to normal
"Is the room spinning or is it just me? Ah. Just a little house humor. Ooh." Hooty said with a chuckle
"Sorry about all that, Hooty." Luz apologized
"It's okay. I'm just glad I was included." Hooty replied
"That sure was some night, eh Max" Shartok said
"Yeah. At least Eda didn't know about this" Max added
"Oh really?"
Everybody widen their eyes as the door slams close to reveal Eda and King
"Uh oh" Shartok gulped
"You three are so busted" Eda said with a glare
"Oh man" Luz said
"You held a moonlight conjuring." Eda said
"I did" Luz replied
"And you animated my house. My house!" Eda added
"Yes" Luz replied
Max then walked up to Eda
"Eda, I just want to say that me and Shartok had nothing to do with all of this." Max said
"Huh?" Eda puzzled
"Yeah. We were outside training until we saw the owl house get up and walk away. We were only trying to get them to put it back" Shartok added
Eda narrows her eyes at this until Willow and Gus then got in front of them
"Don't punish them. We're the ones who pushed Luz to do the conjuring." Willow said
"If you're gonna eat me, just do it now. Do it now!" Guz said much to Eda's disgust
"You didn't have to do that" added Luz
"Yes, I did" Willow replied
"Well, you're all guilty, so you'll all be punished by cleaning my house top to bottom." Eda said as she summons a lot of cleaning equipments which the kids caught. "
"Okay" Max said
"And another thing..." Eda said which causes the kids to gulp. "That was totally amazing. And I'm so joining you for next year's conjuring. Now get to work."
The kids did what the Owl Lady said and they ran off to do some cleaning. Eda and King then sat on the couch
"I can't believe they animated a whole house." King said
"Yeah. You're right. That takes some powerful magic." Eda replied
"You know, I still kinda wish we got to show up Amity." Luz said to Willow as they cleaned the house
"Yeah. Too bad no one will know of our daring adventures." Willow said
"But me and Shartok will" Max said as he and Shartok were wiping the windows
