A good chunk of this story has been rewritten, so please feel free to go back and read from the beginning!*

Mio nearly forgot how to breathe as the vision from her wildest dreams appeared before her. She had only ever dared to fantasize about Kurama inviting her over only to open the door in nothing but a towel, his body and hair wet and dripping from a shower, but now here she was, feeling like dreams did come true. She was standing before a god; she was sure of it. His body was so perfect, and she had no idea how muscular he actually was under his clothing. With how gracefully he conducted himself, she never would have guessed that his body looked like he trained it every day of his life. She forced herself not to let her gaze drop lower, as much as she wanted to, instead lifting her head to meet his gorgeous green eyes.

'He's so beautiful...' she thought, and her breath hitched as he reached a hand out to her. She hoped he was inviting her inside, but instead, he hooked a finger under her chin and lifted it gently, closing her mouth. Mio focused on him again, feeling her face get warmer in embarrassment. She saw a bashful smirk on Kuama's lips, and she knew he wasn't trying to mock her. He was too kind for that.

"How can I help you, Mio? I wasn't expecting to see you today," Kurama asked politely. He could tell she was completely flustered, and he mentally slapped himself for not throwing on some clothes. He blamed Hiei for that.

"Oh, umm-" Mio started fidgeting with the strap of her purse, diverting her gaze. 'Why am I even here?' she thought, realizing she had come here on impulse to what? Get him back? Looking up at him again more closely, she could see she had no chance. His body was covered in bites, scratches, and bruises; his lips looked raw, and it seemed like he didn't get much sleep the night before. She laughed a bit, covering her face in embarrassment. "I'm not sure... why I'm here." She stumbled through her words, starting to feel mortified. Kurama could see that the girl before him was feeling distressed. He didn't want to turn her away, but there was a very horny and very naked demon waiting for him in the bathroom. He sighed, knowing that Hiei was going to be upset.

"Why don't you come in? So we can talk," Kurama added the last part, hoping neither party would misunderstand. He heard a low growl coming from behind him, and he turned his head to see Hiei leaning on the door frame to the bathroom, his arms crossed over his chest with a very displeased expression on his face, and still very much naked. Kurama grasped Mio's shoulders to keep her from coming in, letting a small nervous laugh escape his lips. "J-just a moment, Mio. I have to-"

"I know you have... company, Shuuichi, and I can tell you've been busy," She cut him off, her words coming out more bitterly than she had intended them to. Though, to be honest, she felt hurt. He had broken up with her the night before and immediately went into someone else's arms. She was starting to get mad even though she didn't want to. 'What's so special about this person, anyway?' she huffed.

Kurama sighed, feeling genuinely like he had wronged her. "I'm sorry, Mio. Please, just wait here for a minute," he said gently, closing the door but not shutting it all the way. Kurama whirled around and quickly went over to Hiei. "Please put something on, Hiei. Mio is here, and I can't have you looking so..." Kurama gave Hiei a once-over with his gaze. 'Incredible.' He could feel himself salivating, but he could tell that Hiei was displeased by the way he was glaring at him.

"I thought you were rid of her, Kurama," Hiei said through clenched teeth. He was initially just frustrated by the interruption, but now he felt unusually vulnerable, knowing that it was Mio at the door and feeling irrationally irritated with Kurama for having invited her in.

"I can't just leave her at the door, Hiei. She's upset, so we'll just talk for a bit," Kurama tried to reason with him. "I know I can't ask you not to show yourself, especially since she knows you're here, but could you put some pants on?" He pleaded, trying to keep his voice down.

"Hn. Of course, she's upset. She just lost you," Hiei commented matter-of-factly as he turned away but returned to the bathroom anyway, which led back to Kurama's bedroom.

Kurama was left at a loss for words and could only sigh. "I'll be in there in a minute," He said before returning to his front door.

Mio had seen the interaction from her vantage point, though she hadn't caught what was said. She hadn't meant to look inside, but the second person in the room caught her attention. 'It's the guy from yesterday... Hot damn...' She thought as she caught a glimpse of Hiei through the crack in the door. She knew that he was deceptively muscular from what she had seen of his arms the day before, but he was also on par with Shuuichi. When he started to turn away, though, she caught sight of the full package, and she had to cover her mouth to keep from gasping audibly. 'Yeah, I'm going to have to change when I get home,' she thought. She jumped back almost immediately as she saw Shuuichi turning back to her.

Kurama opened the door again, still in nothing but a towel, and waved her in. "I'm sorry about that. Please make yourself comfortable while I get dressed," he said somewhat bashfully. He closed the door behind them and made his way to his bedroom. Mio was about to say that he didn't have to but was able to stop herself before she did; instead, she just sat on one of the couches while she waited.

Kurama closed the door to his bedroom behind him and leaned his head on the door. He took a deep breath before opening his eyes and seeing Hiei sitting on the bed, still very wet from their shower. He sighed and went to the bathroom to grab another towel, tossing it to him on his way to his dresser. Hiei caught the towel and dried himself, not taking his eyes off Kurama. Neither said anything as Kurama opened the bottom right drawer, digging towards the back and pulling out some of Hiei's clothes. Hiei stopped his movements, taken aback, looking at Kurama questioningly.

"I've had these... from before..." Kurama said as he handed the clothes to Hiei, who took them in awe. He could only nod in response, and Kurama turned away to look for clothes for himself. Hiei looked at the clothes, not really believing that Kurama had kept them for so long but feeling a strange sort of happiness that he had. He recalled when he "lost" these. He, Kurama, and Yuusuke had just finished dealing with some conflict in the Makai and had stopped to wash off the blood and sweat. Yuusuke thought taking his clothes and running off would be hilarious, and Hiei had only managed to get his cloak and boots back. Thankfully, that was all he needed to return without garnering unwanted attention.

Kurama turned toward him with his own clothes and said, "Yuusuke asked me to give those back to you shortly afterward, but I never got around to doing so." He didn't want to admit that a part of him wanted to keep a piece of Hiei. He had enjoyed Hiei's scent on them for a short while, but washing the clothes didn't take him long. They both began dressing, Kurama in a long-sleeve button-down shirt, slacks, and house shoes, while Hiei put on his black pants and boots but decided against the shirt. "You don't have to come out if you don't want to," Kurama suggested.

"As if," Hiei retorted, determined to let this girl know that Kurama was his. He waved his hand in front of him, indicating that Kurama should go out first, and they exited the room.

Mio looked up when Shuuichi returned a few minutes later, fully dressed, much to her disappointment. Her eyes went to the other man behind him, and she was instantly convinced that gods really walked on this earth. That was the only way to explain both of these incredible beings before her. While the redhead was the most beautiful man she had ever seen, his companion was devastatingly gorgeous in his own way. Now that she could look at him more closely and without a shirt on, she could see that he was even more chiseled than Shuuichi. His features were sharper, his muscles were more defined, and there wasn't a single thing about him that suggested 'delicateness.' Mio saw that he had similar markings on his body: scratches, bites, and bruises all over. She had also noticed long scratches down his back as he was closing the bedroom door. She caught his gaze and saw that his eyes were the most intense part of him, looking almost as if they were red. He looked like he could eat her alive, and she would gladly let him. Both he and Shuuichi were so beautiful, even more so together, and any hopes of getting him back were completely gone. However, she found that she wasn't really upset by the notion. 'I'd definitely pay to see it,' she thought.

"Mio..." Kurama called her, and he saw her jump. He tapped the corner of his mouth, an amused smile on his lips. She immediately caught the hint and snapped her mouth shut, her face flushing red at the fact that it happened a second time. Kurama chuckled softly, sitting on the couch opposite her, and Hiei sat on the armrest closest to Kurama. He hadn't stopped staring at Mio the whole time, though his stare was entirely territorial. Kurama sighed but was still just happy to have Hiei by his side after so long. "Mio, this is Hiei," he said, motioning to the man beside him. "As you've surmised, he's the reason for... well, everything," He sighed, feeling slightly disappointed in himself. He wasn't one to make rash decisions, but he had made two huge ones, hurting a person close to him in the process. He certainly wasn't feeling very proud of himself for it.

Mio turned to greet him, bowing her head slightly. "Hello, it's... n-nice to meet you, I think..." She trailed off, realizing that the greeting was more habitual than honest. Hiei didn't respond or move in any way to acknowledge her, making Kurama sigh and pinch the bridge of his nose.

"I apologize, Mio. Hiei has never been one for many words," Kurama tried to explain. Hiei huffed and crossed his arms defiantly over his chest.

"I'm sure you two didn't do much talking last night either," Mio slapped a hand over her mouth, but the words had escaped before she could stop them. "I am so sorry! I-I didn't mean- Well, I did, but-" She frantically tried apologizing.

"No, I deserved that," Kurama smiled half-heartedly. "I know that I wronged you, Mio, and I am truly sorry. Please know that it was never my intention," he said. He looked at her, trying to convey how truly sorry he felt. Mio didn't seem as distraught as before, but she was still obviously sad.

Mio shifted in her seat as she tried to gather courage. "I suppose that's why I'm here," she said meekly before looking directly at them. "I know you didn't cheat. I'm more confused because you're not that kind of guy. This was so sudden and unexpected... I suppose what I want to know is why?" Mio's words were earnest and sad, and Kurama felt that he couldn't exactly lie to her, though he was certainly not going to give her the full truth.

Hiei and Kurama looked at each other, and Mio could see that their gazes were full of affection as they thought about their past. She knew that he cared for her, but he had never looked at her the way she looked at Hiei, and Hiei was returning every bit of it. Hiei put a hand on Kurama's shoulder as he stood, giving it a squeeze.

"I'll prepare some tea," Hiei muttered quietly as he walked to the kitchen.
