17. Author's Note: A Minor Delay

Hey everyone

Just a quick note to let you all know that the next chapter is going to have to be delayed by a few days.

This week, I went back to work after four months of lockdown. Since my job requires all staff to be fully vaccinated, we have a number of employees not able to come back until their second dose, and we were a little understaffed to begin with.

Consequently I've had to pick up a huge amount of extra slack (today I worked alone without much of a break) and my job is EXTREMELY physical. My next day off is in twelve days. So that's the long way of saying that I've only managed to get Chapter 17 around halfway done because I'm just spent. I haven't had a single moment to even do the pile of laundry waiting for me, let alone write properly, edit and post.

I don't feel right about posting half-finished work. Even if I stayed up tonight to post it on time, the chapter would be rushed and I'd feel even worse. Not only that, but I need to be awake in less than ten hours for my next shift.

I do not ever want to give you wonderful readers anything less than my absolute best. So Chapter 17 is going to be delayed til at least Monday October 18.

I can't even begin to tell you how sorry I am. I'm literally holding back tears while writing this. I've never done this before, but I need to.

I'm so, so sorry everyone. I'll be back as soon as I can next week.
