Chapter 2: Aviarius' plan
^Time skip 3 months later^
Aviarius was attacking the city, and during summer vacation too! He released robot crows to steal anything shiny, mostly diamonds. Team Go was on the case, though one member was off on the sides doing the hard work. That's right, Goldie was in her costume, using her weapons to catch the crows. After doing so, she was reprogramming them while the other Team Go members fought Aviarius. He had brought out his robot bird suit to be strong and fight them off easily.
"He's too strong in that suit!" Wego one said.
"Yeah, and it hurts to hit it!" Wego two added as he shook his hand, pain surged through it from punching the suit.
Mego had shrunk to try and get inside, but was shocked away, leaving Shego and Hego to fight. The suit was being damaged, but Aviarius grabbed them both and electrocuted them both, letting them drop.
"I've won! Hahahahah!" Aviarius cackled happily at his victory, that was until his robo-crows started attacking him.
"Stop! I control you!" Aviarius yelled in a panic, swatting them away, as Goldie came out.
"You had control. Seriously, they were easy to hack and control once you found the leader." She said with a smirk, holding a small remote to control them.
"What?! I can't be defeated by Nogo!" Aviarius screeched out. Goldie's eye twitched.
"That's Igo! Igo! And, yeah, I can beat you!" She said as she made the birds destroy his suit. Aviarius then pulled out a remote.
"Fine, but I won't be defeated so easily!" He yelled as he triggered a switch. Suddenly, all the crows started exploding. Goldie/Igo yelped as she crouched to avoid some of the parts. Aviarius took this chance to grab a large diamond he wanted, pocketing it in his cape secretly before bolting with a cackle.
"Oh no you don't!" Igo yelled as she activated her skates and chased him, even though the Wegos' told her to stop and wait. They got the other three Go members up, letting them know Nogo went after Aviarius alone, before bolting. Igo managed to tackle him and was trying to use her new cuffs to trap him, but he was avoiding her.
"How did you know to control my crows?" He asked as he avoided a punch from her.
"It was set up like a child's toy, seriously, I made something better when I was 10." She bragged as she tried to roundhouse kick his head, but he dodged.
"Really?" Aviarius genuinely asked.
"Well, duh. Who do you think programmed Go Tower?" She asked as she tried to cuff him.
"Then this changes everything." He said as he showed something on his inner right wrist. Before Igo could react, he sprayed a mist on her, knock out gas. As she collapsed, he caught her before she hit the ground with a cackle followed by using his remote to summon his albatross jet. By the time Team Go showed up, he had carried her into the jet.
"You're too late, now I'll be sure to win!" He yelled then cackled before flying off. Team Go gasped as their sister was kidnapped. They knew where his hideout was, well all of his bird inspired ones but not sure which one he was at, as they got in the jet.
"Does Nogo have a tracker on her?" Mego asked, actually being worried for her.
"Igo does, but only when she pushes the button." Shego said, correcting him on her hero name.
"Why did she have to go after him?" Hego questioned in a scolding manner.
"Because you never let her help, she just wants to help." Shego told him.
"She should've just let him get away." Hego muttered in frustration, only because she was being a better hero than he was. Shego sighed, but didn't argue. Meanwhile, Igo woke up, chained to a chair and desk in the middle of a room.
"Good, you finally woke up." Aviarius said as he walked out.
"Ok, I'll bite, why am I here? To trap my teammates? Use me as bait?" She questioned him curiously.
"Hmm, it's clever, but to cliché. No, I kidnapped you for one simple reason." He commented before leaning over the desk to get close to her face.
"Your brain!" He commented loudly with a wicked smile.
"My… Brain?" She questioned him.
"You managed to hack my crows, you knew where the weak spots were in my suit and you bragged about making all the electronics in Go Tower! You are the genius behind the gadgets, therefore, I require your brain and talents to create better weapons for me!" He said as he had moved away and had paced back and forth.
"Why should I?" She questioned him, trying to reach her secret button for her family to track her location.
"Think about it, aren't you tired of the names?" He asked her, his back to her. Igo stopped what she was doing, her eyes glaring at his back, knowing he was smirking.
"What are you talking about?" She questioned him, knowing full well what he meant. Aviarius' smirk turned into a wicked smile, thinking he hit a nerve with her.
"Nogo, Not-A-Real-Go, No Power Go, I've heard all of the names from everyone, even other villains." He said before turning to look right at her, smile still there.
"Don't you want to prove them wrong? Don't you want to show them what you magnificent brain can do?" He asked her as he got closer. She went from glaring at him to looking to the left side of her. He had struck a nerve, both of them knew this.
"Why be good and keep hiding in the shadows, when you can be a villain and outshine them?" He continued, making her mind race at this.
"I would never let you be in the shadows while hogging the glory, I'd never mock you nor give you bad nicknames, I'd never tell you to wait in the lair unless it was part of a well based plan. Think about it, you, my sidekick, my little hatchling, using your inventions to help us rule Go City and punish all that have mocked you." He told her as he was behind her now, hands resting on her shoulders as he leaned down.
"With your mind, we'd be unstoppable." He whispered in her ear, hoping this would tempt her. She didn't say anything as she gripped the arms of the chair.
"You and I are not so different, it seems. Outcasts for different reasons. You for no powers, I for my love of birds, both smart for mechanics, so why not team up?" He added as he moved some of her hair to behind her ear to make her ear more visible.
"A-Avery? Avery Feathercluster?" Igo whispered, realizing who exactly this guy was under his mask. Avery Feathercluster, a 23 year old man the same age as Mego, mocked and ridiculed for years due to his love of birds, just like his father who had disappeared 5 years prior on an exploration to find a new bird species. Aviarius was now stunned before spinning her chair around to have her look right at him, making the chains tighter on her and a visible cringe to show it did.
"How do you know who I am?!" He demanded in fury.
"You became evil after your father disappeared! No one had seen one of the best robotics in years! I didn't think a great inventor such as yourself could turn evil!" She gasped/marveled that one of the few people in this town who inspired her to work on robotics was now evil. Aviarius then did the unspeakable. He pulled off Igo's mask to see her true face. Goldie gasped, but Aviarius frowned.
"Darn, I was hoping I'd recognized you if I saw you." He said in disappointment.
Goldie gave a small sigh of relief, since he had only seen her a couple of times years prior and as Mego's friend when Mego wasn't a hero. Of course back then, Mego only used him to get his homework done, but that was it. It stopped when Avery realized it, then became a recluse until he disappeared.
"We had met before, twice, but I was even younger than I was now." She told him, not wanting to reveal herself at all. Aviarius kept frowning as he looked right at her.
"Will you help me? Or do I have to make you?" He asked her impatiently now. Goldie had a thinking look on her face before looking at him.
"While I'm flattered you think highly of me, I'm gonna deny. I have morals as a hero after all." She told him while smirking.
Aviarius didn't like this one bit, he proved it by backhanding her across the face, causing a yelp from her. He didn't slap her due to his claws on the costume, having minor morals on harming a lady's face.
"Fine, I'm patient, I know how to make you comply." He said with a smirk, letting her go and moving forward.
"You know Team Go knows all your locations, right?" She questioned him.
"Ah, but they don't know this one. It's new." He told her, not realizing she pushed the button on her belt to give her coordinates.
"I'm sure they will, soon." She commented with a smirk. Aviarius turned to his head to her with a smile.
"If you mean the GPS locater on your belt, I deactivated it while you were out, as well as anything else you had on you." He commented, smile growing wider as her eyes widened in shock.
"You, but-" She stammered in confusion as he turned to her.
"Did you really think I wouldn't think of looking for gadgets on you after revealing how smart you were?" He commented smugly, making her look away from him, showing the red cheek that formed on her face from his smack.
"Typical teenager. So, will you accept my offer now?" He asked her, hoping this would be easy. Goldie's mind was racing for an idea before one popped into her head. Maybe his Ego was like Mego's.
"If I accept, would you message Team Go to brag to them?" She meekly asked, ashamed to even think of this idea.
"Only if you complete something for me." He says to her, figuring she would find a way to signal them for help.
"I..." Goldie weakly said, mind racing from this, before she looked at him.
"What did you have planned?" She meekly asked him, feeling she had no choice but to accept his offer. Aviarius smiled a wicked happy smile as he towered over her.
"Glad you see things my way." He said with victory dripping in his voice. He got a blueprint and showed her a staff he wanted made to steal power, more specifically her family's powers.
"Why would I help you with this?!" She gasped out in shock.
"Because, Team Go relies on their powers, so if you help me steal it from them, then they will know exactly how you feel! They can be 'No Power Go's' while you can be the superior Go!" He says to her, hoping to persuade her.
"I couldn't-" She said to him, but he grabbed her face with one clawed hand, giving a glare.
"You could and you will, otherwise I'll make sure you never see the light of day." He tells her, his grip tightened, causing her to wince. She gave out a meek agreement before he let her go.
"Good girl." He says with a smirk.
"Could I at least get a drink as I work?" She quietly asked, hoping he'd comply.
"Of course, I can't have you get too weak to work." He said, gently patting her head, then left to fetch her a drink. As soon as he left, she tried to fiddle with her belt to get a signal out, but had to stop when he returned. He sat the glass of water down near her before giving her the blueprints and a pencil.
"I need you to make sure there are no flaws, then let me know when you're ready to make it." He told her before leaving, knowing she had no way out.
With no way to fix her belt, she took a sip of her water before getting to work. It only took her 5 minutes to get through everything before finishing her water. Yes, she shouldn't drink/eat what villains give her, but she really was thirsty and had no choice but to trust he wouldn't poison her. After all, poison wasn't Aviarius' style. He came in and frowned at her not doing anything.
"Why aren't you working?!" He screeched.
"I finished." She said in a bored tone. He snatched the blueprints, thinking she was lying, until his eyes widened at the improved plans before him.
"Took me five minutes to finish, really not that hard to improve." She said in a bored tone, actually upset that she couldn't use her brain more to improve the design. He went over to her and pet her head.
"Good girl. See, wasn't that easy?" He asked her in a tone that made her seem like a puppy.
"Can you not do that." She said as she moved away from his hand, but she yelped when he grabbed her hair by the roots and pulled.
"I can do whatever I want, you're my prisoner!" He screeched at her.
"What the hell happened to sidekick!" She screeched at him. He was shocked enough to let her go, causing her to rub her sore head.
"Wait, are you really thinking about it?" He asked her.
"Well, after doing this, I might as well be. Team Go will banish me for helping you." She told him in a convincing tone, even though she felt her family wouldn't betray her that easily. Aviarius smirked at her.
"Well then, do this for me and I'll make you my sidekick, The Phoenix." He told her, giving her an awesome villain name. She actually liked the idea, but would never turn evil. Just had to pretend.
"Fine, I'll make it, you call them and tell them where to go to get me, then we'll trap them." She told him with a smirk. She just had to play the part long enough.
"Very well, I shall call them, my little parakeet." He said, caressing her cheek gently before walking off. Once he was out of her sight, she gagged at the nickname he just gave her.
"I swear, he better not be hitting on me." She muttered as she got to work, using the real blueprint idea in her mind to set the trap.
Team Go had failed to find her in all 6 of his locations, no clues either. They were now in Go Tower, sitting at the round table, all but Hego looked worried, Hego was just upset with with arms crossed. Suddenly, the large screen turned on.
"Greetings Team Go!" Aviarius called out with evil glee.
"Give us back Igo!" Shego demanded before Hego could say anything.
"Oh, you want her back? What makes you think I'll just willingly give up that golden genius?" Aviarius questioned in a mocking tone, causing each Team Go member to glare at him.
"Why did you take her?" Hego questioned him.
"Are you serious? She told me she makes all your gadgets, even the giant computer I'm talking to you through, of course I'm going to keep her here and have her build my machines! I mean, she might not have powers, but her brain outshine all of you!" Aviarius bragged, seeing Goldie's true genius for what it was that they seemed to overlook. Shego, on the other hand, was the only one not shocked.
"Of course she's smart, why else would she be a part of Team Go and help us take down villains like you." Shego retorted.
"Ooh,~ I hit a nerve. Oh well, you want her back? Here's my location. Go ahead and try to get her back, if you can! Hahahahaha!" Avairius laughed after taunting them before closing the screen.
"It's a trap!" Hego immediately claimed.
"Well, duh. He's a villain, of course it's a trap!" Mego said with an attitude.
"Guys, whoa, not now. Let's get her first." Shego jumped in to stop the 'soon to start' argument.
Hego and Mego nodded in agreement, giving each other a 'it's not over' glare before all 5 members hopped into the jet and flew off. They pinpointed the new hideout and hurried there. By the time they were there, Goldie put the stolen diamond on the center of the staff.
"I'm done." She told Aviarius as soon as he entered the door, knowing full well he was about to screech where his new weapon was.
"Ah, well done!" He happily squawked, now holding his new weapon with glee.
"Just point it at them, push the button and they're powers are yours." She told him as she seemed to have a look of shame. He lifted her chin gently.
"Don't worry, my little parakeet, once their powers are gone and they get a bit of a beating, I'll let them go, unmasked and humiliated." He tells her with a smile. Suddenly, the door was broken down by Hego.
"Where is she!" Hego demanded, looking furious.
"Right here, Hego." Aviarius said as he turned around and moving to the right, showing an unmasked Goldie, red slightly swollen cheek clearly visible as well as the chains on her wrists and ankles. The Wegos gasped at the sight, knowing her red cheek must hurt.
"You should thank her, because she's going to be the reason for your downfall!" He screeched as he aimed the staff at them.
Hego got in front of them all, thinking Goldie betrayed them, before Aviarius hit the button. Instead of draining their powers though, a net shot backwards and wrapped around him, causing a confused sound to exit his mouth, before he was shocked and down on the ground. He had been tasered and paralyzed from this.
"Did you really think I'd betray Team Go? Also, your little Parakeet? Uhg, no. If you're flirting, I'm only 15 and if not, then creepy either way." She commented as Hego ran over and broke the chains off of her while Mego and the Wegos lifted Aviarius up.
"But, but the plans..." Aviarius started.
"I filled out the plans you wanted, but kept the real one in here." She said as she tapped her head. He then snarled.
"How dare you! I was going to make you a phoenix! My sidekick! We could've ruled Go City together!" He yelled in fury. She went over and grabbed his chin, as he did to her.
"I'll never be a villain like you. Not now. Not ever!" She hissed at him before letting him go.
"When I get out of jail, you'll all pay! And you, you'll get the worse of it! I swear!" Aviarius swore as the guys dragged him out. Shego rushed over to Goldie, checking on her.
"Oh sweetie, are you ok?" Shego asked the teen before her.
"I'm ok, I just had to play nice and trick him." Goldie commented.
"He's seen you without your mask on." Hego commented.
"He doesn't know who I am, but I figured out who he is." Goldie told them.
"You did?" Shego questioned. Goldie nodded, but didn't say anything else. Hego began scolding her, but Goldie walked off.
"I just wanna go home, ok? You can scold me later, but at least I didn't betray you like you do to me, Hego." Goldie said before leaving the room completely. Hego was confused as Shego turned to him.
"See what you're doing to her? She was a hero today, yet all you did was scold her for getting in the way. Why can't you see what you're doing to her? You're hurting her and making her dreams turn to dust!" Shego scolded before walking off.
Hego felt bad, but he felt he was right. Mego checked Goldie over, acting all worried and brotherly, before scolding her for getting kidnapped. The Wegos actually complimented her and told her she was so cool for making the weapon against the owner. Goldie should've felt love at that point, but for some reason felt slightly hollow. Aviarius' words echoed in her head. 'They don't appreciate you, they just use you and take the glory for themselves.' Once home from dropping Aviarius off at jail and some reporters interviewing them, Goldie having her mask back on at that point, saw she was being mocked by everyone on TV except by the bad guy, which made the mocking worse.
Goldie sighed before wondering to her room, her only sanctuary. She had changed into gold shorts with a black diamond on the right leg and a black tank top with a gold heart in the upper left area where the heart is located. Once changed, she went to her sewing machine and began sewing. Goldie had two talents. Machines and sewing. She had been working on a project of hers, a gold coin pillow, with some music playing. She barely heard a knock on her door, causing her to pause her tunes.
"Who is it?" She called out.
"It's Hego." Hego called out.
"Go away, I'm busy." She called out as she kept going with her project.
"Goldie, please." He said in a pleading tone.
"I said I'm busy." She called back, ready to turn her music back on.
"Goldilocks, please open the door for Big Brother Bear?" Hego suddenly asked. Goldie stopped everything before sighing. Only Hego, rarely Shego, called her Goldilocks and he referred to himself as Big Brother Bear since he became muscle bound like one, she called him that a year after they all got their powers.
"Ok, fine, enter." She said, causing the door to woosh open. Hego came in, looking around her room in amazement. He rarely comes in here, sometimes she changes her room up, so he never knew what to expect. He looked right at Goldie, who was glaring at him.
"What is it? Going to scold me, now?" She asked him in an upset tone. Hego found a stool and pulled it up to her before sitting down.
"Listen, I'm not upset with you." He tells her, then shows her and ice pack. She took it and put it on her cheek, giving a small sigh as the cold felt wonderful.
"Actually, I'm impressed." He says to Goldie. She blinked before looking right at him.
"I-uh-um, did I just hear you right?" Goldie gawked, because Hego said something she never hears from him.
"Yes, you did. I'm impressed. Not only you set a good reverse trap, but you held your own with no problems. I mean, I'm not happy you got kidnapped, but you showed you can handle yourself just fine. Still, I'd rather you not get involved in the field for a while, but you did good." Hego tells her. Goldie seemed shocked at what she heard.
"So… Are you proud of me for being a hero?" She asked him.
"Well, I'm not saying you're a hero, not yet anyways, but perhaps you will in time." Hego tells her. Goldie's hope died a bit after that, realizing he won't admit to her being a hero, not unless she proves herself by either catching a villain on her own or saving them.
"Go." She says to him.
"What?" Hego asks in shock.
"Go! Just get out!" She yelled at him.
"But-" He started, but she used all her force to toss and kick him out. Shego witnessed this and saw Goldie poke her head out of her door.
"Don't ever talk to me again, you selfish pig!" Goldie screamed at him before going in her room and letting the door slam shut.
"But, but Goldie! Hey, what did I do?" Hego yelled out, but then heard loud rock music meaning Goldie turned it up to ignore him.
"What'd you do to her?" Shego asked him. He explained the conversation, causing her to smack her forehead.
"Uhg, why didn't you just tell her you're proud of her? How hard is it to say that and mean it? Or at least say it?" Shego scolded him harshly, while thinking she couldn't believe how stupid her eldest brother was.
"Why should I be proud she got abducted?" Hego questioned.
"Because she outsmarted a villain whom tried to turn her evil with the praises she longed for, admired her brains and kept calm which most people wouldn't be able to do, even after getting slapped and her hair pulled! Why can't you just admit defeat to your hero ego and admit she's a hero and an important member of this family!" Shego screamed so loud, even Goldie could hear her over her music, causing the golden haired Go member to smile.
Goldie admired her sister even more after this, meanwhile Hego had flinched backwards from this, especially since Shego's hands had started glowing from rage.
"But, I'm not-" Hego started, but Shego shot one of her green glow plasma shots right at him.
"No more from you, just go! You already messed up as it is!" Shego yelled at him, causing Hego to bolt at that point. Shego took a few deep breaths before knocking on the door.
"Goldie?" She called out.
"Enter!" Goldie called out, causing the door to woosh open for Shego, who quickly entered the room before the door shut behind her. Goldie had turned her music down, still sewing but never looked up. The icepack that was on her cheek was now resting on the stool Hego had sat in.
"I heard everything you said." Goldie told her, concentrating on her work.
"You did?" Shego asked, surprised her voice traveled as well as it did.
"Yes, at least I have one sibling who loves me and is proud of me." Goldie said as she stopped her project for a moment.
"Aw,~ sweetie, of course I'm proud of you." Shego said as she went over and hugged her sister from behind. Goldie let a tear slide down her cheek as her hands rested on Shego's arms.
"Why does he disapprove of me so much? When will I ever make him proud?" Goldie quietly asked her older sister, sadness and despair filled in her voice.
"I'm sure he is, but his hero ego won't let him admit it." Shego told her lovingly, though Goldie felt it was just words to comfort her, not actually meant.
"I really did think about it." Goldie quietly said to her.
"Hm?" Shego questioned.
"What Avierius offered, to betray you all and be evil, I thought about it. I had genuinely thought about it." Goldie muttered quietly.
"Why would you?" Shego asked her curiously.
"Because he praised me, he tempted me with sweet words. If it wasn't for you, Shego, I might've dared to accepted and risk being betrayed. I would be willing, just to be loved and make someone proud." Goldie confessed, feeling horrible with herself.
"But you didn't, why?" Shego asked her.
"Because you love me at the very least, you care about me and have always looked out for me, even before the powers. I've always admired you, the strength you have, the way you get everything organized, the way you stop the fights. You're the real leader here, not Hego. I thought of you and your kindness and just, well, I didn't want to disappoint the only one who cares about me." Goldie confessed as a few tears fell. Shego pulled Goldie to her bed and held her close, once again playing the role of both the big sister and mother for the young teen. Shego let Goldie silently cry as she stroked her messy, mid back length curls.
"It's alright. You're the strongest one out of all of us. You were given something tempting and fought it with all your might for the one you love, that makes me even more proud of you. Nothing you could ever do could have me be disappointed in you." Shego told her broken younger sister.
Ever since their parents dies, Goldie had been closing herself off more and more to the people outside of Go Tower, Hego made it so much worse, which is why she stepped in and had to play three roles in Goldie's life. Best friend, big sister and mother. Out of all the Go's, Goldie was hit hardest when their parents died. Shego stroked Goldies hair as she remembered before the parents death.
Hego and Mego would always exclude her from their games, sometimes Shego did too if it wasn't safe for her to play which was rare, so she'd always go to their parents and spend time with them. Father would always work on his cars, trying to teach Hego and Mego with failures, but learned Goldie adored him enough to listen and help, while she learned to sew from Mother and would admire her a lot. What made this sad and worse was that Hego and the Wegos looked exactly like their father, while Mego was a mix of the two and both girls looked like their mother.
Their father had a muscle build but not as much as Hego is now, mother slim build like Shego, father had straight hair like Mego but black like the 4 siblings, with blue eyes like Mego, Hego's was lighter but could pass as their father's. Mother was more pale compared to Father, just like the girls and Mego, having light brown hair just like Mego but wavy like Hego, Shego and the Wegos, though she had brown eyes just like Goldie and The Wegos. Shego got green eyes by chance, while Goldie was the only one with golden blond hair and sporting wild curls. Mother often called Goldie a little china doll, to which Shego agreed without feeling jealous since she was often told her green eyes made her special and could capture a room, which was true.
The boys were often overlooked when Shego would enter, her emerald eyes cast a spell over others, while Goldie's golden locks caused everyone to watch her as if her hair would drip real gold. Both girls were always the center of attention as well as their mother, but Shego and Goldie would always include their brothers, even more so when the Wegos were born. Goldie's eyes used to shine as bright as the sun and moon, at least until their parents died. Ever since then, her eyes started to shine less and less, which Shego noticed and was trying to keep that light up. Now, Shego saw Goldie's light dying even more, so she was doing all she could to comfort her sister.
Shego went to ask a question, but went silent as she noticed Goldie had fallen asleep. Poor girl was stressed, was what Shego thought. Shego adjusted Goldie into bed, tucked her in, kissed the top of her head, then took the ice pack and turned the lights off before letting her baby sister rest.
