Welcome to the next chapter of RWBY: Team DUSK, before starting the story. Let's answer some reviews:
Darth Simp: Same here, because there is a lot that I like about their characters, especially in RWBY Chibi. I can already think of several things that they could all get into in the future for funny moments.
altajir95: Thanks for both.
The Burning Date
"Ugh, this is so frustrating."
Sandra said as she was sitting down in the middle of their usual combat class with Glynda Goodwitch, which was inside of the amphitheater turned combat arena.
"Come on, Sandra. I don't see the problem with this match," Daniel replied, turning his attention from the current match as he turned his attention to one of his teammates. "Ruby has been dominating this match since it started. Besides, I thought you hated Sky since the first time that you met."
As Daniel said fighting in the arena was Ruby and Sky from Team CRDL, and as he pointed out the young leader had the older man on the ropes. She was quickly maneuvering around her opponent while wielding her Crescent Rose without even being affected by the weapon's weight. Despite the age difference, it looked almost as if she's bullying him, instead of the other way around.
Besides them, the members of Team RWBY still had their attention on the match with Yang being the dutiful older sister she was and cheered louder than anyone else. Their other friends from Team JNPR were also cheering for their friend, but none louder than Nora.
"Ugh, I'm not talking about the match. Besides, I could care less about that idiot from a collective team of idiots."
Sandra harshly said catching the attention of said team who all looked irritated, but a single glare was enough for them all to stop whatever they planned on saying.
"Then, if it's not that, what's got you this irritated?"
"Ugh," Sandra groaned for a third time as she started speaking. "Since the first time we met, the leader of Team CFVY has been pestering me."
"You mean, Coco. Come on, it shouldn't be that bad for you to make more friends from other teams."
Daniel replied, not seeing anything wrong with that, although, his attention was more focused on watching Ruby's match against Sky. He could see that compared to him, her aura was barely down since she hadn't suffered from a single attack from Sky. Sky, on the other hand, was already in the yellow, close to hitting the red mark, which is a sign that he lost the match.
"I doubt that Coco has just friendship on the mind."
Alyssa said fully knowing what Coco's intentions were in regards to Sandra.
"What was that?"
Sandra asked sending a serious stare towards her partner who 'innocently' glanced in another direction and even started whistling. All those earned narrowed eyes from her partner as a casual laugh escape from Alyssa's mouth in response to them. After that happened, Sandra simply leaned forward on the empty seat in front of her letting a sigh escape from her mouth.
Noticing her change in demeanor, Hunter got Daniel's attention then began signing to his partner and leader, who learned sign language.
'I think Sandra moping?'
Hunter signed.
"Yea, but I think that is an improvement compared to the first time we met. It means that she's not trying to how she feels around us, at least to some degree."
Daniel replied, recalling how Sandra was the first time they all met.
Her emotions then, varied from simply angry to irritated, making it almost hard to how what her genuine feelings are from time to time. But, this was an improvement since he can see that almost similar to Blake, Sandra had a barrier around her, if not a little more than her. However, both their circumstances seemed a little different since it seems as if it didn't take Blake long to become well adjusted to Team RWBY.
"In regards to Blake, it's almost like she's keeping something to herself from time to time. But, for Sandra, it's as if she's not trying to connect to anyone," Daniel spoke in a low tone that was almost like a breath so that no one, a Faunus or not could hear him. "I wonder what she's been through to gain that mentality."
At around the same time that thought entered his head, Ruby had defeated Sky using what seemed to be a combo attack using her Crescent Rose, and semblance. It ended up with her opponent being knocked on the ground as his weapon fell far from him too, causing him to groan as he felt back.
"And with that last attack, our winner if Ruby Rose," Glynda announced as the winner returned Crescent Rose to its portal mode. Even looked happier winning a match against her opponent who's aura was in the red, while hers barely decreased at all. "Sky, I hope that you can learn something from this match."
"…."
Sky remained silent as he was shaking his head, and seemed to struggle standing back up to his feet.
"Well, return to your seats, I'll choose the next pairs in a moment," Glynda said before turning her attention to the downed opponent. "Sky…take your time."
"…thanks…."
Glynda was capable of seeing that Sky was having difficulties standing up after that last attack, and struggled to regain his bearings. Ruby, on the other hand, quickly zipped over toward her friends and was met with a big hug from her older sister, causing her to groan.
"My little sis is so amazing rocking the arena like that!"
Yang said wrapping her arms around Ruby who tried escaping from the bear hug.
"Ugh, I got it, Yang!"
Ruby said struggling as Yang finally decided to let her go.
"I guess that you're starting to look more and more like a leader," Weiss said in her usual tone. "If you had lost a fight against that guy of all people I'd have considered finding another partner."
Despite her tone, Weiss was impressed about the match, but not enough to openly point that out.
"It was a good match, Ruby."
Blake complimented smiling faintly.
"Hey, Daniel, did you see that last combo that I did?"
Ruby asked as she walked in front of Daniel with a look of anticipation on her face, while he looked right back at her wearing a look of contemplation.
"Sorry, I kinda missed the last part of that. Did you do some great move or something," Daniel replied in a serious enough tone that Ruby believed him as she pouted, and glared at him. Moments later, he smirked and laughed a bit before holding out his hand. "Just kidding, it was a good move, Red Hood."
"Hehehe."
Ruby giggled as she and Daniel high-fived.
If anyone noticed the interactions between Daniel and Ruby, then anyone would come up with the judgment that the two were almost like kindred spirits. And the fact that the two of them shared silver eyes made that point a little bit more clear.
"Alright students, I have chosen the next pairs so please pay attention," Glynda said catching all of her student's attention as most wondered who was next. "So, our next combatants will be Daniel Norden and Yang Xiao Long!"
After being called out, the chosen combatants glanced over to one another for a second before standing right up to head out into the arena.
"See ya down there, Dani."
Yang said winking at him before heading down before him.
"Well, it looks like this is going to be an interesting match."
Daniel said as he began heading out too as all their friends stood a seat, focusing on the match that was going to start any second.
"Daniel's right, this is going to be an interesting match. I don't think that he and Yang have been paired up to fight yet since class started."
Weiss pointed out recalling that hasn't happened until now as Blake agreed with the same thing as she wondered how this match was going to end.
"Well, we'll cheer for both Yang and Daniel too!"
"So, you're not worried that your sister and friend are going to be fighting?"
"It's not like it's a serious fight, Alyssa. Besides, Yang and Daniel look as if they'll be enjoying it."
"Well, I think that we both know how Yang's semblance works, and how she gets when she's frustrated."
Ruby and Alyssa found themselves having a casual conversation about the most nonchalant duo preparing to fight in the arena against each other.
"Well, we all know Daniel is good at frustrating people."
"I don't know about that," Alyssa replied after Sandra added that comment into their conversation. "If you think for a second, Yang appears a little too into Daniel."
"Tell me about it."
Weiss uttered under her breath as she rolled her eyes, which was something that caused Blake to almost laugh a little having heard it.
"Well, as long as Daniel doesn't do the one thing that'll make Yang, well yangry."
"Seriously? Are you going to start doing her stupid puns too?"
Sandra retorted giving Alyssa a deadpan look, which was something that the others did too, but Ruby laughed a little bit after recalling where that came from.
"Hey don't look at me. Yang started it when we all went to Signal. Almost everyone there knows what happens if she gets like that."
Alyssa said without revealing anything else as the others just focused on the match, which was preparing to start at any moment.
Seeing that her students were standing in front of one another prepared, Glynda started working on the controls, which were on her Scroll (tablet form). The lights in the amphitheater were dimmed down to a manageable level, then brought up Daniel's and Yang's profiles right above the usual aura gauge. Seeing that things were prepared and that the two seemed hyped for it.
"Well, I can certainly see that both of you are prepared for this match. If that's the case, I won't hold your time, but I hope that you two would remember the rules. Same as with the other matches, it'll end when one of your auras reaches the red zone," Glynda explained as Daniel and Yang signaled that they remembered the rules. "Then, I hope that you two have a good match, but please be prudent."
Glynda reminded them, knowing that despite being arguably one of the potential best students in the first year as noted by the Headmaster himself. She knew that the two of them were among the potential troublemakers who'd might need to talk to from time to time in the future.
"So, I think this is the first time that we've been matched up, Dani," Yang said as she started stretching her arms, preparing for the eventual bout. "I don't have to be worried about you holding back on me, right?"
"Well, you don't need to be worried about that one Yang," Daniel said as he reached underneath his coat, then he wrapped his hand around Retribution's hilt. "You should know that I treat everyone as equals. Even if I'm against a man, woman, human, or faunus, I always give a fight my all."
"Just makin' sure. I'd be pretty ticked off if ya didn't give me your all," Yang said in a tone that sounded almost the slightest bit suggested, which was proven as she gave him a discreet wink. But, that comment was noticed by all the people in their friend group, most notably Weiss who narrowed her eyes slightly. At a moment's notice, Yang took on a fighting stance with her beloved Ember Celica becoming active, then her fists were raised right in front of her. "Then let's dance around for a bit, Dani!"
"I gladly accept, Yang!"
Daniel activated Retribution as Yang propelled herself forward at him with her fist pulled back, then he blocked a punch from the blonde brawler. He could feel the impact from that one punch alone, causing him to almost take a step backward. But, the worse of it came when Yang smirked, then came in with another punch, but this time an explosive blast came from that one.
"…whoa!"
Daniel found himself letting a sound escape from his mouth as he was blasted back from the force behind that close-range blast. Seeing that he lost his balance, Yang moved in with another intended blast from her right shotgun gauntlet. Realizing the situation, Daniel pulled Retribution's trigger, firing off a blast, which sent him off in another direction. After regaining his balance, he pressed his foot on the ground and rushed at Yang who wasn't able to stop her initial charge.
He swung Retribution using his hands, but she blocked using her left gauntlets, then turned around to swung her right at him, which he ducked. After getting in position, Yang held her fists beside one another, then started doing several jabs at him. All of them were blocked using Retribution, these punches were easier to block since it was a quick barrage of punches with less power behind them.
At the last punch, she pulled back her right arm, then aimed a strong straight forward punch for Daniel, who took note of it. Reacting to this, he avoided the punch as it sailed past his cheek to the point that it scraped against it, and managed to get behind Yang. After doing that, Daniel aimed a kick for her unguarded side, which sent her back a bit toward.
"Geez, you weren't kidding about not holding back," despite being kicked, Yang wasn't mad at all and instead let a smirk appear on her face. "But, you're going to need to put a little more effort than that!"
"I plan on it!"
Both of them were letting out explosive blasts from their respective weapons as the two kept pressing on. Daniel was swinging around Retribution using either one or two of his hands, there were some of his strikes that landed, and were guarded by her aura or gauntlets. Yang did manage to get some strikes in on him too, which couldn't be blocked using Retribution. She was confused to see that there were some runes on the spots that she had come in contact with. But, she guessed it was a defensive measure.
The members of Team RWBY, DUSK, and JNPR were all watching the entire fight as Daniel and Yang continued going at it. Like Ruby, Pyrrha was doing her best to cheer for both her friends, as Nora was almost doing her best to ensure she was heard.
"How come most of their comments sound as if they're flirting?"
Sandra asked as she stared at the fighting between them commenced, which wasn't something that sounded appealing to Weiss at all.
"Yang has been doing that since the first time she met Daniel. And Daniel does what he does best, and just goes along with it."
"You don't need to sound like that. I think that's just their personalities," Blake answered already knowing how to class Daniel and Yang. "Neither of them seems like the type to take every single thing seriously, and wants to live in the moment without being concerned about anything else."
"Yahoo! Go, Yang! Go, Daniel!"
Ruby cheered as she watched her sister and one of her first friends continuing with their fight.
"Well, Yang can sure take hits, and give them."
Daniel thought as he and Yang reloaded their respective weapons after stepping back from one another having gotten done with their initial clash. It could be obvious to anyone watching that he was having the time of his life at that moment.
"Hehehe, this is so much fun. Even in a fight, it looks as if Dani just goes with the flow."
Yang shared the same thoughts as she finished reloading Ember Celica, then prepared to continue with their match.
Daniel started it first as he rushed toward her holding Retribution using both hands as he swung it as she rushed at him too. In response to this, Yang prepared herself to move, then slid on the ground underneath his sword as it sailed right above her face. The moment she covered, she turned around and punched her right gauntlet, firing a blast that seemed to almost curve.
"I didn't think those things could curve like that!"
Daniel replied as he blocked it using Retribution, but he was blasted back a bit.
"Come on, don't sound so surprised Dani! A girl never reveals her….," Yang said but stopped as she recognized a familiar thin blonde almost golden strand drifting right in front of her face. Seeing this caused her to pause as it was something that she instantly recognized. As soon as the realization reached her brain, Yang closed her eyes and tightened her fists. "Dannnniiiiii."
"For some reason, my instincts are telling me to run," Daniel cautiously said turning around after finally regaining his footing. He hesitantly turned around to see Yang's hair starting to glowing golden similar to what he had seen during the Beacon Initiation. "Uh, Yang did I do something?"
A long time ago, he already learned from his mother and aunt that if a woman became mad, it was likely because of something he unknowingly did.
"You might be my friend. You might be a handsome guy," Yang said in a dangerous tone, but most had wondered if that last part was necessary. Daniel actually started fearing for his life a bit as flames started flicking from her hair, then opened her eyes turned red. "No. One. Touches. My. HAIR!"
Yang smashed her fists against one another, causing an explosion that lit her hair aflame, then propelled herself forward at Daniel using Ember Celica. Reacting to this, Daniel blocked the punch using Retribution, but he could feel that the power behind that punch couldn't compare to before. He could barely hold back that punch using his sword, then it was knocked out of his hands. It was knocked in a direction where he wouldn't be able to reach it.
"Ah, shit."
Daniel muttered after noticing that Yang was still in front of him going in for another punch.
He couldn't reach Retribution, and couldn't even get pull out Vanir from his holster in time, leaving without options aside from one. In response to Yang's aggressive approached, he knocked her punch in another direction so that punch wouldn't make contact using his forearm. But, she kept putting on the pressure as several punches flew at him without any sign of stopping.
Daniel used several methods for deflecting the punches using his arms, then did he performed a spinning sidekick as he bent his knee after forming a rune on his leg. Due to this, he managed to knock her in another direction, thus giving him some breathing room. Neither attack appeared to do anything in terms of stopping her, as she turned around looking as pissed off as before.
"Yang, long shot. But, is there any way that you can forgive me for cutting off a piece of your hair?"
"Sure, we'll discuss that when this match is over," Yang said smiling first, but Daniel didn't have a good feeling of what she was going to say next. "But, first, I'm going to get in at least one good punch!"
"I knew it."
Daniel smiled wryly as he prepared himself, then noticed Yang preparing for her next attack.
Daniel looked to see that Retribution was at a distance from him, then held out his hand as a runic array formed on his hand. And the same array formed along his sword's hilt, causing it to inch closer and close in his direction, then came flying back towards him. At the same time, Yang propelled herself forward at him pulling back her right fist as she was preparing for one final punch.
Once she was close enough to him, Daniel returned Retribution to its portable form, then blocked it using the flat of the diminished blade. It resulted in a notable shockwave that traveled across the arena, but she kept pushing the punch on. He moved the blade attack causing Yang's punch to be pushed off in another direction, then found himself dropping Retribution to the ground.
Daniel moved to place Yang's right arm into a hold in an attempt to grapple her to the ground and was already moving to do so. But, at around the same time that he was lifting her off the ground for the next move, she fired a shotgun blast from her left gauntlet. It was an explosive blast that did assist in the throw, however, the blast sent both of them off balance.
""Ahhh, crap!""
Both Daniel and Yang called out as both of them were sent tumbling towards the ground as another blast went off on accident from her right gauntlet due to a sudden movement, causing a smoke cloud.
"Yang?!"
"Daniel?!"
Both Ruby and Weiss ended up calling out worried after seeing that, but unable to see him due to the smoke.
"Ouch, jeez those blasts can pack a punch."
"Uh, Daniel. Not that I mind it, but you're kinda touching one of my girls."
"You're…girls?"
It was at that moment that Daniel realized that his left hand was on the hard ground beside Yang's head, and his right hand was at the moment touching something soft. And Daniel's brain came alive as the realization came in an instant as he noticed his right and was touching Yang's right breast. It was pretty obvious enough for Daniel to notice the blonde's abundant chest. But, he received a pleasantly soft sensation on his hand as his fingers were digging in.
"…nnn…," Yang's cheeks were bright red from the contact, but she was maintaining her usual confident look. "I'd think it's about time to move before we end up giving everyone a real awkward show. And I would rather it is a more private thing."
""Weiss is going to kill me."
"I happen to know how to get you out of a lecture."
Yang said as she was sending him a smile that didn't look too pleasant smile.
"I don't trust that smile, but how?"
"Liiiike this!"
"Gah!"
Daniel received a gut punch from Yang, which sent him off her and on the ground beside her as he groaned.
"…ugh, that was cheap."
Daniel groaned placing his hand on his stomach, reeling from that punch.
"Hehehe, I did owe you a punch."
"Just to clarify. Is it for the hair? Or the fact that I accidentally groped you?"
"It was for the hair," Yang said as she leaned up from the ground sending him a light wink. "I'm sorry, but being a nine doesn't get you a pass when it comes to my hair. I'll leave the thing about groping one of my girls as just one accident. But, not time, I might not let you off."
"If it wasn't for the fact that I know how women are when it comes to their hair, I'd question that logic."
"Well, for messing with my hair, I kinda lowered you to an eight. Being knowledgeable about what women do and don't like might get me to rate you back to a nine."
Daniel and Yang shared a little bit of a laugh after that one, then noticing that the lights came back on.
"Well, I can certainly say that you two put on an interesting match for everyone here. But, I can certainly see a lot of things that you two can improve on," Glynda said in her usual instructive manner, but the serious tone caused both Daniel and Yang to give a nervous laugh. "I hope that both of you would do your best to accept the results."
"Eh, the results?"
Daniel and Yang glanced at the aura gauge underneath their profiles, where the two noticed that their fight ended in a draw.
""Ugh, a tie.""
Both of them wanted to be the winner in the fight due to their competitive side, but it ended in a draw.
In regards to Daniel, it could be from all the attacks that he took from Yang before and after using her semblance plus the gut-punch near the end. In regards to Yang, it could be from all the attacks Daniel managed to get in and using her semblance. But, the nail on the coffin could be that last explosive blast.
"Well, students, there is still quite sometime before this class ends. So, everyone change back into your school uniforms, and those who fought can hit the showers," Glynda said as those students started doing just that as she stood in the same spot thinking over the fights today. "It's been a month since school started, and even in that time frame I can see a lot of potential in these students."
Meanwhile, inside of the women's locker room, Yang was standing in front of her assigned locker staring into the mirror checking out her hair. Around her, other female students were changing outside their own combat uniforms back into their school uniforms.
"Phew, that's good. It looks as if it was just a strand that got cut," Yang said after noticing that her hair didn't look different from how it was before and was relieved about that. "I wouldn't have even let Dani off if he did anything worse to my hair."
"I'm surprised that not even Daniel gets a pass."
Alyssa said as she finished taking off her top, revealing her modest chest and her blue bra.
"Come on, Alyssa, you know there's one person who gets a pass to touch my hair."
"And that so happens to be me!"
Ruby said standing proudly, revealing her still developing chest and black bra.
"That's right," Yang said in a singsong stone as she wrapped her arm around Ruby, pulling her sister closer into a hug. "I have only ever let my little sister touch my hair since we were kids, and she even knows how to give it the proper care it deserves. Besides, I let him off a little easier than I normally would."
"I bet you did~"
A new voice entered their conversation as Yang, Ruby, and Alyssa turned to see another female student entering their conversation. She was a Faunus standing there already dressed in her school uniform except for a couple of buttons undone on her uniform. There were also what looked to be sheep horns. All of them did know who she was since she was also a leader of her own team, but neither of them was personally acquainted with her.
"What does that mean?"
Yang curiously asked, wondering where she was going with this.
"I mean, Daniel is quite popular among the first-year female students," the girl spoke in an accent. "I have heard a lot of girls talking about him from time to time since school started. Even if you leave out the fact he comes from a good family. He's a really good-looking guy. He's funny. He has a good personality. And he's equally nice to both humans and faunus. So, who wouldn't let him get away with a couple of things."
If Yang didn't know any better, she'd except that the girl was attempting to imply something about the match that had just occurred moments ago.
"Are you trying to say something?"
Yang decided to just ask that question.
"I mean, it did look as if Daniel was on top of you in the smoke. So, I was just a little curious if something did end up happening."
Both Alyssa and Ruby found themselves staring at Yang, who was somewhat surprised about that question, but it wasn't shown much on her face. She was surprised that anyone managed to see that much in the smoke, but it'd be attributed to her faunus lineage.
"Well, nothing really happened. Dani just ended up landing on top of me for a moment, then moved."
"Is that so?"
She said unconvinced as she titled her head to the side.
"Is there anything that you wanted to know?"
Ruby asked momentarily stepping beside her sister.
"Right, that was the reason that I came here," she said, suddenly looking a little bit shy before the Faunus girl put her fingertips together. "I have been meaning to ask, but is Daniel seeing anyone?"
All three girls were surprised about the sudden question as there were others around who heard the conversation and were interested in the answer.
"That's a little straightforward don't you think?"
"I mean, I thought that since a member of his team was here, and you're all friends. I thought that one of you may know about that. I mean, I thought that Daniel and Weiss Schnee were a thing, but…."
"I mean, Daniel isn't technically seeing anyone, but…."
Alyssa said before stopping after noticing a certain someone, which Yang and Ruby also did realize who had approached them. And based on the expression on their face, she didn't look happy about the conversation she'd come across. The faunus girl seemed to notice the same thing without needing to look behind her as she flinched and laughed nervously.
"…I guess my curiosity about it got the best of me. I'm sorry if I caused any trouble. I'll see you, girls, later."
The faunus girl said nervously as she started rushing off in another direction.
"Well, I guess she felt the chill of the Ice Queen."
Yang joked causing the person standing behind her to roll their eyes.
The person who walked up behind the Faunus girl was Weiss, as Blake was behind her wearing a complex look.
"Weiss, I think you scared her off."
Alyssa joked as she started finishing getting dressed.
"I didn't even do or say anything."
Weiss said crossing her arms over her bust.
"You did look a little bit annoyed that she asked if Daniel was seeing anyone."
Blake added as she stood beside her tilting her head lightly.
"Yea, you kind of gave the same look you made after we first made."
"You knocked over all of my stuff and almost blew us off a cliff."
Weiss reminded Ruby, who smiled a little at the memory.
"Well, I can guess that you were just annoyed that girl was trying to come onto your man."
Yang teased, causing Weiss' face to turn red at that comment.
"D-Daniel isn't my man as you so blatantly pointed out. He's just the first friend that I made."
"But, he isn't your bestie, right?"
Ruby asked as she zipped right beside Weiss smiling cheerfully as she wrapped her arm around the heiress.
"…Ruby," Weiss found herself unable to give her usual serious comment after noticing the innocence practically radiating off of the younger girl. "Well, whatever, we're dropping the subject about Daniel, and getting prepared to go off to our next class."
"You never want to talk about it. Who knows, Daniel might end up being snatched up by someone else."
"N-No, Daniel is going to…," Weiss started, but she stopped herself as she coughed in her hand in an attempt to recompose herself. If she said what she was going to say, then Yang wouldn't have allowed her to continue the rest of the day without bringing it up each time."And who would snatch away Daniel?"
"Ah, turning it around. Well, who knows, that girl is right about Daniel. I might even…."
Yang intentionally stopped herself from finishing that sentence earning an angry pout from Weiss and caused a laugh to escape from her mouth.
"Well, as fun as it is watching Weiss turn bright red. I think we should finish things up."
"Alyssa's right unless you all want to be late for our next class. And if you two continue at this conversation about Daniel, then the bell will be finished ringing."
Alyssa and Blake tried reasoning to both their new friends, to which they agreed.
"Right, so I'll be hitting the showers before getting dressed."
"Before that, I heard most of that conversation. And I was wondering if something did happen at that moment."
Weiss asked, causing Yang to pause a little before giving her usual laugh.
"Come on, princess nothing bad happened between me and your crush," Yang said as she played it off, then she started taking off her jacket. "We're going to hit the showers, so just wait for us, kay?"
Yang was talking to Weiss and Blake who didn't have a match in class and was already dressed in their school uniform. Hearing that response, both of them agreed to that, then began heading outside the girl's locker room as the other girls finished getting dressed too. Seeing that things were settled Alyssa and Ruby went off to prepare to take a quick shower too in the appropriate areas for them.
She found herself humming as she took off her crop top, revealing the black bra she was wearing underneath it. A moment passed as Yang found herself touching the same spot on her right breast that Daniel groped after both of them ended up falling to the ground.
"I never thought that would happen," Yang uttered under her breath as she felt her cheeks heating up recalling all the details about his hand on her like that. "I can recall the feelings of his fingers on…. Ugh, damn Daniel making me think about this."
Yang found her face turning red, she hadn't felt like before when it came to other guys she'd usually just playfully tease. Those times were normally for fun and she wasn't reason, but when it came to closer moments with Daniel from time to time, her heartbeat would increase.
"Well, I wonder what I'm going to ask from Daniel."
Yang giggled in an attempt to take her mind off that initial thought, then started preparing herself to take a shower so she could head off to her next class. She was looking forward to whatever she did plan on asking him more so considering that she was the only person on her team who hadn't gotten anything from him because of a request.
"I was surprised that you wanted to hang out with us, Daniel."
Jaune stated confused as he found himself, and Ren, alongside Daniel and Hunter standing in the courtyard right in front of Beacon. It was some time after school ended so the four first-years found themselves dressed in their casual clothing. Both he and Ren were invited by Daniel to come out with him and Hunter for some simple fun.
"How come? I thought we were friends."
"I know that, but I thought you'd be busier with your team or other things."
"Well, me, Hunter, Sandra, and Alyssa practically all live together already, so we see each other basically all the time. And besides, we see each other most of the time around school, but we haven't really hung like this not counting the time we all went to the movies together."
Daniel said as he was tossing around a baseball in his hands.
"Yes, but why baseball?"
"Eh, couldn't find a frisbee anywhere," Daniel answered Ren. "Besides, I thought we could just toss it around and talk about whatever comes to our minds. Or we could just toss around the baseball together?"
'I have wanted to do that before with friends. Most of the boys at Sanctum didn't know how to talk to me. And my mom was often busy with work from time to time.'
Hunter signed as he glanced at Daniel.
"And Hunter's onboard. How about you two?"
"I'm in. Most of the people that I hung out with were my older sisters, so doing things that guys would do wouldn't be something I could do," Jaune said wanting to do something like playing ball with the guy friends that he made here at Beacon. "How about you Ren?"
"…I don't mind. But, we don't have gloves."
Ren noted as Daniel smirked.
"Then let's also turn this into a fun little exercise. Instead of using gloves, we instead use our auras to defend our hands from the impact as the ball comes toward us. Agreed."
"Agreed."
Ren said not minding that idea.
"Uh, guys, you know that I'm not good at, you know."
The three of them knew what Jaune was talking about.
After the incident involving Cardin a couple of days ago, where Jaune did tell his friends that he enrolled by using fake transcripts. Of course, most found that idea being either reckless, dumb, or both, those people being Weiss, Sandra, Alyssa, and Ren. However, none of those feelings remained considering what Jaune managed to do just on the spot. Jaune was glad to have made friends like that who supported him like that.
"Well, think of this as basic practice. I think that you picked up on how to do it from experience and training here, so all you need to do is keep practicing, then it becomes second nature. So, we'll use this fun exercise to make a defense aura to catch the ball, then turn it off after throwing, rinse and repeat. Sounds cool?"
"Uh, yeah, I get the idea."
Jaune agreed as Daniel smiled as he caught the baseball in his hand, then started stepping back on the grass to get a little more distance between them.
"Good, because," Daniel said as he pulled his arm back, then tossed it at Jaune. "You're up."
"Huh? Wha?!"
Jaune said as he activated his aura on reflex, then caught the ball in his hands. He felt the impact, but there was no actual pain or injury.
"Daniel, you could've given me a warning."
"I thought I did. Besides, in an actual fight, there will be no warnings."
"Alright, then let's do this!"
Jaune said energetically as he tossed the baseball over towards Hunter who caught it in his hand after turning on his aura defense. After doing that, he turned and tossed the ball to Ren, but this time, it looked as if the ball had made a curve. Seeing this, Ren made more of an effort to catch it in his hand using fluid and trained movements, which went along with smoothly activating his aura defense.
"Impressive curveball, Hunter. I'd even accuse you of using your semblance," Daniel said clapping, causing his partner to look bashful before turning over toward Ren. "And impressive moves, Ren."
"Thanks."
Ren replied before throwing it back to Daniel, who caught it in his hand after activating his aura defense, then he tossed it to Hunter. Hunter tossed it to Jaune, this time with a fastball, which Jaune barely caught in his hand, as well as activated his aura defense at the last second.
"So, Jaune how many sisters do you have?"
Daniel asked after Jaune tossed it over towards him.
"I have seven sisters."
"Dang, that must have been rough."
Daniel said, catching the ball. He knew that the idea of having seven sisters wasn't bad in itself, but he could only imagine what Jaune had to go through dealing with just sisters.
"You're telling me. I couldn't tell you the number of times that my sisters used me like a doll, and fixed my hair in a lot of different embarrassing ways."
Jaune said as if reliving those moments.
"Sounds rough. I never went through anything like that."
"Daniel, you mentioned that you had an older brother? Did you do something like this with him?"
Ren asked as he caught the baseball after Daniel tossed it using a fastball.
"I tried, but he never wanted to do anything with me from time to time. At most, we often spent time together after our dad started teaching us about using a sword," Daniel said as he was speaking with just the slightest hint of a sad tone based on what they could hear. "Aside from that, he'd just go about with his own business without even acknowledging that I was there."
"That sounds rougher than my thing with my sisters," Jaune had acknowledged with him feeling bad for Daniel's situation with his brother. Hunter and Ren shared the same kind of sentiment as Jaune. "You mentioned that you had an aunt and uncle, so did you have cousins?"
"Yea, I have three cousins. My uncle has a son the same age as me. My aunt has a daughter my age too, and also a second daughter, who's younger than Ruby. It's kinda ironic, the four of us were raised as if we were real siblings a lot more than my actual sibling. So, even if my brother and I don't get along, I still got my family and friends."
The three around him felt the happiness from Daniel after that comment as he tossed the baseball in the air.
"That's a good way of thinking about it."
"So, how about you and Nora," Daniel asked as he tossed the ball hard at Ren who caught it in his hand. "I think that it's obvious the two of you aren't typical friends. You two are almost inseparable."
"Nora and I have known each other since we were children," Ren said before tossing the ball over the Hunter as he kept speaking in a monotone voice. "We spend most of our time together, and even ended up joining Beacon together as well too."
"Oh, and is that all between the two of you?"
Daniel asked in a more teasing tone.
"…there isn't anything beyond that."
Ren replied, but his tone or emotions wasn't something that Daniel could read as he tossed it to Hunter.
"Is that…?"
"Hey, Daniel."
Daniel was stopped after hearing a familiar voice calling out to them, then turned around to see that it was Yang waving her hand. At around the same time, Jaune at already thrown the baseball over toward him.
"Uh, Daniel, the ball is…."
Daniel turned around and caught the ball in his hand using sharp reflexes.
"…never mind."
"Just give me a moment."
Daniel said as he tossed the baseball to Hunter, as the three of them continued their baseball game.
"Hey, I see that you guys are having some fun."
"Yea, so are you still mad at me?"
Daniel asked as Yang was starting to give him a little bit of a teasing smile as she already figured out what she's going to tell him.
"Oh, I don't know," Yang started in her response as she was running a hand through her beautiful blonde hair, which almost looked like gold. "Are you referring to the fact that you almost ruined the hair that I pride myself in? Or are you referring to the fact that you forced yourself on me and groped my chest? I might even end up telling my father his daughter can't become a bride anymore."
"H-Hey, even if you're kidding that's taking it up a notch."
Daniel nervously said as he stared directly at Yang.
"Hehehe, I'm just kiddin'. You don't need to sound so serious, Daniel. But," Yang said as she leaned forward right in front of him smiling as her eyes turned red as she peered at him. "If you do it again, I won't be as forgiving the next time a strand of my hair is cut."
"G-Got it," Daniel replied laughing wryly. "I never thought I'd meet another girl who could intimidate me."
"The first one is Weiss, right," Yang asked as she stepped back from him, then started moving around without her leaving the same spot. "So, I thought about how you could make it up to me. Want to hear it?"
"Sure."
Daniel answered, wanting to know what came to Yang's mind.
"Take me out on a date this weekend."
Yang's response caused him to surprise as Daniel blinked several times as he stared back at the blonde, who was as casual as before.
"I'm sorry?"
"What's with that look? A beautiful girl asked you about the date, so shouldn't the answer be obvious? Besides Ruby, Weiss, and Blake have all gotten one thing or another from you," Yang said almost feeling as if she was let out of it since everyone aside from her got something from Daniel. "So, is it wrong for me to spend at least some alone time with a handsome guy and learn a little bit more about him?"
"Not that I have a problem with that, but what did Weiss say about that?"
"Oh, I haven't told her yet. I plan on doing it though tonight," Yang answered not seeming to see anything wrong with that, but Daniel knew that Weiss wouldn't agree to something like that. "So, what do you think about going to Vale with me this weekend for some fun?"
"I'm not against that idea. But, I kinda don't want to…."
"Hurt Weiss," Yang guessed as she smiled. "I think that's a good trait that makes you more of a catch. I swear the two of you should just get together already. Besides, we're not going to do anything aside from having some fun out in the town as friends. I mean, unless you want to…."
"Yang. It's not going to work."
"Ugh, fine. You could've let me finish teasing at least."
Yang said but still smiled at him from the fact that she could have a casual conversation with someone like Daniel.
So, she was looking forward to being able to go out with Daniel on the weekend.
"Absolutely not! You're not going out on a date with Daniel!"
Weiss shouted as she heard the request that Yang decided on.
All four members of Team RWBY were gathered in their dorm room, Blake was sitting on her bed reading from a book of hers. And Ruby was on hers happily reading from a comic book that she found inside Beacon Academy's library, which made her happier.
"Come on, what's the problem?"
Yang asked in a faux disappointed tone.
"There's a huge problem! I'm not letting Daniel spend an entire day alone with you of all people."
"And what's wrong with that? Afraid, I'll try and take him from you?"
"Y-Yes, I-I mean…," Weiss said embarrassed after realizing what came from her mouth as her teammates had all turned their attention toward her. Her cheeks turned red, but she recovered as she coughed into her hand, then a much calmer tone came from her mouth. "You have been flirting with Daniel since the first time you met inside of the ballroom. So, I'm not letting you spend an entire day alone with him."
"Don't sound so worried Weiss, it was all in good fun. I'm not planning on doing anything inappropriate with Dani. I just think that it is kinda unfair that I'm the only one who hasn't gotten anything from him."
"I mean, Yang isn't wrong."
Blake added catching their attention as Ruby jumped off her bed, landing on the ground.
"I mean, Weiss, you did get three requests from Daniel. I had gotten those delicious cookies he baked and even a bunch of strawberries. And even Blake got a book from him."
"Right, I knew that my little sister and partner would have my back," Yang said giving them a playful thumbs up. "I promise that I'm not going to do anything untoward with Dani. I just plan on going around Vale and having a fun time and getting to know him better."
Weiss stared at Yang and could see that she was being serious and sincere about not planning to do anything at all untoward with Daniel. Of course, despite how bold Yang acted from time to time, Weiss was able to see that it wasn't meant to be hurtful toward others. It was all in good fun for her, and if she made an earnest promise, then it wasn't something she'd break.
"Fine, I'll allow it," Weiss said pouting as she crossed her arms. "But, I expect to hear what you two did when you come back to our room."
"That's just natural girl talk. I mean, it's kinda unfair since you didn't tell us everything you two did on your date," Yang said as she took a seat on her partner's bed. "Come on, Weiss. What're you waiting for? It's pretty obvious you have feelings for Dani and I'm definitely sure he feels the same way."
"…It's not that I don't want to," Weiss said as she sat down on her bed, then lied her cheek on her hand as she started speaking more about that response. "I have already forgiven Daniel for leaving Atlas all that time ago, but I want to get to know him again. I used to think that I knew everything there was to know about Daniel. But, it was after he left, that I realized there were still some things that I still don't know."
"What do you mean, Weiss?"
Ruby asked curiously as she sat beside her partner, while Blake seemed more interested in this conversation as Weiss decided to continue.
"Daniel was one of the few people that I felt comfortable freely talking to since we were kids. So, he knows about me and I know about him. So, I can tell that there is still something that Daniel hasn't talked to me about even if he acts nonchalant all the time. All I know is the good things that Daniel has been through. But, he never shares any of the bad things."
"So, Daniel knows all the bad things that happened in your life?"
"Yes, and I want to understand what Daniel's actual feelings are."
Weiss replied honestly.
"Well, we have four years here. So, you have all the time in the world for that," Yang tried to reassure Weiss on it using that silver lining. "But, who knows Dani might tell you if you just ask."
"I don't know about that," Blake said placing her book on her bed for a moment as she turned around so that she could face Ruby and Weiss. "Daniel might be honest about it if you asked him. But, if it's something that he isn't comfortable with sharing, then he might play it off."
"Yea, I can see him doing that. Besides, it can be hard sharing some things with people."
Yang said resting her head on her opened hands.
"But, I'm sure that Daniel will come around to it."
Ruby added.
"…yea."
Weiss said as she looked at the three girls around him.
It was true that Daniel was one of the small number of people that Weiss could talk to like this, but the three girls around her were becoming the same thing to her.
"I wouldn't have imagined us three being able to talk like this considering when we first met. But, being on this team with them is making me happy that I chose to come here." Weiss thought as a faint smile appeared on her face, which went unnoticed. "Well, I'll wait until Daniel wants to talk about it."
"Yea, and thanks for letting me do this. And don't worry, I'm not going to do anything bad with him," Yang said as a smile appeared on her face. "Unless something does happen."
"Don't make me say no."
In response to that comment, Yang started laughing after noticing the heiress' intense stare at her, causing both Ruby and Blake to start laughing as well. Seeing her three teammates caused Weiss to let a sigh escape out her mouth, then started laughing lightly herself.
On Saturday, Daniel found himself dressed in casual clothing in Vale after receiving a text message from Yang to head out first. He was kinda surprised Weiss gave Yang the go-ahead to go out on a date with him considering all the times she has flirted with him.
"I wonder what she said to convince Weiss to go along with this?"
Daniel asked himself was he found himself looking at his Scroll to pass some time.
At some point, Daniel and Ruby found a mobile fighting game, which could be played on their Scrolls, then often challenged one another. He has been spending most of his time there playing that game while waiting for Yang to arrive.
There were moments where Daniel attract the attention of different girls who he thought were students from Beacon. Based on their appearance, some of them could either be in their third or fourth year.
"Isn't that Daniel Norden?"
"He and his friends took the initiation by storm."
"He's quite handsome."
"It looks as if he's waiting for someone."
"I wonder who."
"I wonder if they know that I can hear them?"
Daniel asked himself within his head before heading something among the other sounds around him.
Based on what he could hear, there were the usual cluttered conversations from various people, and vehicles as they passed by. Among them, was the sound of a motorcycle's engine as it was approaching making itself known as it came closer to his location. Soon enough, a motorcycle was parked right beside him, however, there is a lot of things that caught his attention as he looked up.
One was that the color scheme matched that of a familiar blonde-haired brawler; and said brawler was revealed to be the driver. It was revealed to be Yang as she took off her helmet, then tilted down the sunglasses she was wearing.
"I came to pick you up, handsome."
Yang said as she smiled at him.
Yang definitely has an eye for fashion, something most people could guess that by looking at her. It was further noted based on the casual outfit she was wearing, which certainly fit her style and could attract the attention of several men. And a lot of them would even be jealous that he was even talking to Yang.
"So, this is the motorcycle that you've been talking about all the time."
Daniel said impressed about the vehicle that Yang was situated on.
"Impressed? This is my beautiful child, Bumblebee."
Yang presented almost proud about the motorcycle she was riding on, causing him to smile.
"So, is there a chance that I could ride Bumblebee?"
"Whoa whoa, moving a little bit fast, aren't we? You haven't even ridden on Bumblebee yet," Yang replied as she sent a smile in his direction. "You fine without wearing a helmet? I only got one another helmet, but that one only fits Ruby."
"Yea, I'm fine. It's one of the benefits of having aura to protect you."
Daniel said as he approached Bumblebee, then without caring about what anyone else could think jumped on the back and held onto the back.
"I don't mind if you holding my waist."
"Yea, that's not happening."
"You're no fun," despite sounding disappointed, Yang smirked knowing that most would've jumped at that chance for that. And it made her happy he didn't jump at it. "Well, if you ever feel the need, don't hesitate. I tend to go a little fast when riding Bumblebee."
"Oh, is that so? I'm sure that I can handle that."
"Aren't we confident? Well, then let's head off!"
"Where are we headed to first?"
"I plan on riding Bumblebee for a while! I haven't ridden her for a while, and I plan on enjoying it!"
Yang said energetically as she revved Bumblebee before riding off almost without warning, but that wasn't even a surprise for Daniel.
He kept holding on as Yang drove Bumblebee as if she didn't have the slightest care in the world, which was one of the traits that he found admirable about the sisters. And besides, Daniel didn't mind riding on a motorcycle like this as the wind passed him as the duo kept riding along without a care in the world.
None of his initial decision to enroll in Beacon had anything to do with what he was doing right now. However, Daniel was glad that he ended up coming here and meeting the people, which he had come to befriend.
"So, what's on the agenda for the date?"
Daniel asked loud enough to where Yang could hear him.
"Well, I prepared to watch this romantic action movie that I wanted to watch for a while. Then we're going to head to a favorite place I love eating at, which happens to be close to the theater too."
Yang replied loud enough for him to hear.
Even with the wind diluting the sound, Daniel could hear that she sounded excited about this date. And knowing she could be happy with something like this was something that he could find solace in.
It wasn't long until Yang and Daniel had arrived in front of the movie theater, which was the same one that their entire team went to. Purchasing the tickets and snacks before heading inside the theaters to watch what movie she planned on watching.
It was a romantic action named "The Pursuit", a tale about an Ex-Huntsman who enters a relationship with a new woman in town. Their relationship progressed at a pace where they felt as if they met their soulmate, and then several crimes start occurring caused by a crime lord. Soon enough, she vanishes after one of them, causing the Huntsman to track the crime lord and his group across the kingdom.
After finding her, he finds out that she's the crime lord's daughter with a semblance, which had a hand in his rise to power. Despite that, the Huntsman pursued his soulmate, realizing that she was being used, and convinced her to assist him in bringing down her father. In the end, the soulmates returned where they met and started building a life for themselves.
"That was amazing!"
Yang declared happily with her eyes sparkling as she exited the theater with Daniel walking beside her wearing a smile on his face too.
"I didn't think that movie would be that good," Daniel said smiling feeling as good about the movie as Yang did. "I liked the scene near the end where he jumped from one airship enter the airship where her father was. All those actions scenes were awesome and even the romance scenes were well acted."
"Right, right! I loved his semblance, Drive. Even against a criminal organization, he was determined to fight to the end for the person he loved and didn't give in until she was in his arms," Yang stated almost gushing at the idea of the Ex-Huntsman's motivations. His semblance, Drive allowed him to fight through anything right in front of him based on his determination. "Ah, I love the scene where he was able to hug his soulmate and they shared that kiss under the moonlight."
"I think this side of you is cute, Yang," Daniel said, but she didn't mind that as she was too engrossed about that movie to register it. "I'm surprised that you chose a movie like this."
"Hey, even I like watching movies like this from time to time."
"And Ruby?"
"I think that Ruby isn't ready for anything like romance. She doesn't really understand that much about it aside from all the things she reads from the books about heroes. I read her books from time to time when we were kids, and it's what caused her to want to be a hero like them," Yang revealed as she smiled. "I really believe that Ruby can be the hero she dreamed of becoming. She entered Beacon two years early and even became a leader."
"Yea, same here. If someone as optimistic and determined as Ruby doesn't become that hero, then I kinda worry for Remnant's future," Daniel replied, causing Yang to laugh. "And besides she does have two good teammates and an amazing big sister."
"You're damn right. I'll always have my little sister's back."
Yang declared as she raised her right fist into the air.
Their relationship was something that made Daniel smile seeing the two sisters getting along together, but it does a sense of longing for himself. Although, that idea for him wasn't possible for his own unique situation. As both of them were walking toward the place that Yang said was a favorite of hers, they kept talking a lot about the movie the two watched.
"Hey, Dani," Yang said suddenly in a tone that he couldn't think of as happy or sad. "Like that movie. If there was someone that you were missing from your life. Would you still chase that person, even meant that you might end up hearing something you wasn't hoping for?"
Daniel was surprised about that question from Yang, which seemed to have stemmed from the movie's premise. It was obvious enough for him that there was a far deeper meaning behind that question, but it didn't stop him from giving his owner, which was something he didn't need to think about.
"Even if it meant that it wouldn't be the answer that I was looking for, I'd still chase after that person."
Daniel replied, causing her to stare at him wonderingly.
"Why?"
"If I didn't, then I'd likely spent my entire life constantly asking myself questions and obsessing about it. So, even if it won't end up being the answer you're looking for, at least you'll be able to find some closure."
"Is that so?"
Instead of being a question toward him, it sounded as if Yang was asking that to herself.
"Is there something that you want to talk about?"
"At some point, probably, but, not now. I think that I kinda want to know you a little bit more first."
Yang said recovering from her sudden demeanor, but there she still seemed to have been thinking about his own answer to her question.
Soon enough, Daniel found himself sitting inside a restaurant, it wasn't anything fancy like he might find in Atlas. Instead, it gave off the pleasant scent of burgers and fries being cooked as there were several people, primarily many teens eating things ranging from fries and pizza. Both of them had already been given their individual orders by the waiter who walked off so they could be prepared.
"Not what you expected?"
"No, this is kinda was I was expecting. I didn't think you'd be into the fancy restaurant thing."
"It's easier getting into places like this without reservations," Yang said, finding herself loving the atmosphere all around them as even music was being played in the background. "But, I wouldn't mind going to a fancier place if someone took me there."
"I mean, that's if Weiss agreed to another outing like this. Or we all went together," Daniel had casually replied to Yang's teasing. "But, I wouldn't get your hopes up, from time to time, the most expensive foods at places like that often don't match the cost."
"Eh, I'd at least like to go to a place like that once. But, I like places like this where you don't even need to act in a certain way there. And I won't be able to listen to music like this in a fancy restaurant, I'd likely be stuck listening to classical stuff."
"You're not wrong about that. So, was there anything particular that you wanted to know about me?"
"My, aren't we moving a little fast?"
"You're the one who brought it up. But, there is something that I was curious about too."
"Is that so~? Is there anything particular?"
Yang asked leaning forward with her chin on her hand as she looked flirtatiously at Daniel, who looked as casual as always.
"So, why don't we make this interesting? I share something, then you share something equal to it."
"That is interesting," Yang said laughing lightly at the idea and finding it fun too. "So, if I'm the person going first, then what would be the most trouble you got into at Atlas."
"Well, that is an easy answer. I punched some tool and his friends after hearing that he planned on accepting my second cousin's proposal just to reap the benefits of dating a Norden. I got off a little light since technically I was attacked first. I was granted the option of apologizing or a week's worth of detention, and took the detention."
"Hehehe, that sounds like you. But, isn't it weird that people attack your family like that? I thought that you were a high society family."
"My family have different ideas about things compared to other families. So, it often causes some hidden tension but most keeps up appearance to get in good with us."
"It sounds like it'd suck to live in Atlas," Yang stated after hearing that. "So, got a question for me?"
"Well, since you asked something about my childhood. I want to know, whether or not you had a cute hairstyle."
Yang was surprised and a little embarrassed about that question based on what she could hear from his tone.
"I may or might not have had ponytails."
"Hahaha, that's so cute~!"
Daniel laughed as he pointed at Yang, who looked a little flushed about that comment.
"Alright, if that's how you want to play at. What's an embarrassing thing from your life?"
"I might have been fun of for having terrible handwriting. What about you?"
"I might have ended up with gum in my hair, then I might have cried at the thought of my hair being cut. It was a good thing it didn't come to that."
Daniel and Yang found themselves laughing after sharing those memories, even if it was embarrassing for them to do so. The rock music being played in the background was something that sounded appealing to the ears, and a pleasant atmosphere made things enjoyable. It wasn't long until the waiter brought their orders, which consists of hamburgers, fries, and milkshakes.
"Yes, this is what I was waiting for! This is one of the places that has the best burgers!"
Yang declared happily as she was looking forward to the meal.
"I can see that if you're looking forward to it this much."
Daniel agreed, then the two of them started eating their food wearing a smile on their face, enjoying the meal that was brought to them. Yang was correct about these being one of the best burgers and fries there, he hadn't even found something this good at Mistral. Both of them spent their time talking and eating their food at the same time.
"Ah, the good here is too good to explain."
Daniel said after drinking from the vanilla milkshake that he ordered.
"Isn't it?"
"So, would it be my turn, then?"
"Yea, so shoot."
Yang said giving Daniel her permission to ask another question.
"So, I was wondering this since the first time we met. But, you and Ruby don't really look alike. I almost wouldn't have guessed that you two were sisters when Ruby first called you out. Your last names are also different."
Yang was surprised about that question from Daniel, not thinking that anyone would have brought something like it or even cared.
"I didn't think anyone would bring that up. Well, since I agreed to the rules," Yang said as she leaned forward and placed her head on her hand. "Ruby and I are half-sisters, so we have different mothers. I share the same name as my dad, Taiyang Xiao Long. And Ruby shares the same last name as her mom, Summer Rose."
Daniel was surprised about that answer, but that would make the most sense if Ruby ended up looking more like her mother, and Yang ended up looking more like her biological mother.
"That's surprising."
"I really didn't know either. I always thought we shared the same mother, but that didn't change the fact that she's still my mom. But, even then I kinda always wanted to meet my real mother."
"Yea, I heard from Ruby that your mom, the one who raised you was a pretty amazing mother."
That statement was something that caused Yang to become visibly surprised since she hadn't expected Ruby to talk to Daniel about something like that.
"Ruby, really talked about mom to you?"
"It kinda came up in a conversation about cooking and our silver eyes. It really didn't go anywhere aside from that, since…. I didn't want her to talk about it any more than that since, well, I know that look better than most."
Daniel spoke a little as if he knew from personal experience, which was something that Yang could hear too.
"Did Dani lose his mom, too," Yang asked, almost not wanting to ask him, more so if she already knew what his answer would be. "Thanks. I'm kinda surprised that Ruby was able to talk about it to someone else. She hasn't really mentioned our mom to even her friends back at Signal. I guess that really is something that you two could relate to…."
"You too, remember? As it doesn't matter if she wasn't your biological mom, it doesn't change the fact she's your mom too."
"Hehehe, I didn't need you to tell me that. I feel grateful for everything she's done for me, and it doesn't change the fact I still love her," Yang stated smiling more about that comment, feeling more and more open to talking to Daniel. "So, what about you? I remember that you said your mom was a human and your dad was a faunus."
"I have a photo if you want to see it."
"…."
Yang found herself smiling and nodding her head in agreement.
"She's the one you'd expect."
Daniel reached inside of his pocket to pull out his wallet, then retrieved a photo from it and presented it to Yang.
She held the photo in her hands and looked at it clearly. In the photograph, there were four people who all looked to be in their teens and Atlas students dressed in their combat outfits, standing in front of a winter forest.
Inside the photo, there was a silver-haired and-eyed woman dressed almost like a genuine combatant dressed in a cloak similar to Daniel, from what she could see her weapon was centered on her legs and inactive. Beside her were a silver-haired woman and blue-eyed woman who could be her twin, with bracelets similar to hers on both of her wrists. Standing on her right was a black-haired and blue-eyed man with wolf ears dressed like a swordsman, and a single-edged sword sheathed on his side. And standing on his right was a man dressed as an actual soldier with guns holsters on his side.
"I'm guessing that this woman is his mother. I recognize that smirk anywhere," Yang guessed noticing the woman smirked as if she could take on the world. "This is definitely, his aunt, she and his mother look almost like twins, without the same eye color. His dad looks almost like a serious guy, even when smiling, and he has wolf ears. If that's the case, then this must be the guy he spent all that time with at Mistral, he doesn't look how Dani described him as here in this photo."
Curiously, Yang turned the photo around to see that all their names were written on the back from top to bottom: Natalia Norden, Olivia Norden, Issac Warin, and Richard Fenris.
"Team NOIR?"
Yang guessed, seeing how their names were written out meaning that Daniel's mother was the team leader.
"The best and worst team to come from Atlas," Daniel stated smirking, recalling all the things that their team had done at Atlas Academy. "Most of them came from my parents who'd often fight against each other over the silliest thing. Those two were partners and rivals, but there hasn't been a better pairing in Atlas."
"I can see that you take after both of your parents. What about your brother?"
"Well, that's something might have in common. We're actually half-brothers, so our moms are different. His mother was another Faunus that my dad grew up with," Daniel revealed much to her surprise before staring at Yang, which was something that she noticed. "I'm kinda jealous of you and Ruby."
"How so?"
Yang asked curiously.
"Both of you get along better than most siblings I've met before. My brother and I argued or disagreed about some things all the time. And the time we'd spent together primarily came from us training together."
"Well, isn't that something common for brothers to fight compared to sisters? Did he ever become a Huntsman?"
"No, he never really got into the idea of becoming a Huntsman, but he did want to learn to fight," Daniel replied surprising her somewhat. "I know that it's kinda normal for brothers to fight or argue, but that was pretty much our entire thing. It turned for the worse a year ago after we saw each other in Mistral. We got into an argument about something, and ended up actually fighting."
"What was the fight about?"
"…," Daniel paused for a moment wondering what he was going to say. Yang herself knew about that kind of look and could see that it must have been something bad. "Maybe, I'll tell you some other time. I'd rather not spoil the mood here with talking about it."
"Got it," Yang said before coming up with an idea. "Hey, Dani would you like to ride around Bumblebee for a while before heading back?"
"I thought you said I wouldn't be able to ride on Bumblebee yet."
"I wouldn't mind letting you ride Bumblebee just this once. Unlike you, this morning I'm holding onto your waist. So, I will be a little bit close."
"You just want an excuse to hug me from behind, don't you," Daniel asked causing Yang to shrug her shoulders not seeming to care about it, and smiled. "Well, it wouldn't be as different as the first time we met and all the other times you've hugged me. But, I hope that you don't mind me riding at high speed."
"Oh, confidence aren't we? Well, my Bumblebee can handle anything."
They shared another laugh after that, both of them realized they shared a lot more things in common than they'd initially thought. There were issues in one another's lives, which they were still attempting to work through despite how it was perceived. Daniel guessed that Yang was attempting to find her real mom based on the question she asked after the movie. And Yang could see that Daniel was trying to handle things in his life, and remain strong, a feeling she could understand.
The remainder of their time was spent there talking and finishing their food before leaving, and just as promised Daniel was allowed to drive Bumblebee. As expected, Yang was holding onto him the entire time with both her arms wrapped around his waist the entire time and pressed up against him. There wasn't a single thing that the two could criticize about the date and enjoyed the time together. Since Daniel was riding Bumblebee down the street without an intended destination, he couldn't see the smile that was the blonde's face.
"You're really a good guy, Dani."
"Did you say something?"
"I said, you have a great body."
"Don't make me pull over and leave."
"Hehehe."
Yang laughed as Daniel shook his head and kept driving forward on Bumblebee.
A/N: Well, this is the end of the next chapter of RWBY – Team DUSK, in this one, Daniel and Yang shared a lot of moments here. Among the members of Team RWBY, Yang has shared some moments with Daniel, but this chapter puts more emphasis on it. First, it was the match between them, where a lot of things happened between them. And it resulted in Yang getting a request from him, meaning all the members of Team RWBY have gotten something from Daniel.
She ended up requesting a date with Daniel, where they started finding more and more things about one another. Yang mentioned Summer and the fact that she and Ruby are half-sisters. And he revealed the name of his father and that he and his older brother are half-brothers.
