Entry 043: Kajun Faycott reporting. As we arrived near a port town, we decided to give our Pokemon a quick check up. Unfortunately, Nurse Joy was busy due to an error in the Pokemon Transport System. What was happening was that whenever someone transported their Pokemon to a different Center...it would come out as a Magikarp and the original never arrived. It was there that we also met the creator behind the system: Dr. Akibahara. *smashing rock noises go off in the background* ...Due to certain people with sensitive hearing, I will abbreviate him to 'Dr. A' for the rest of this report. Dr. A discovered something going on and retreated to his mansion, which we followed.
Inside of the mansion, we encountered a small robot that displayed a hologram of his head. I and Dr. A spent the next few minutes discussing about the Transport System until we were brought before one meant for humans and Pokemon outside of their balls to use. You see that 'error' I mentioned earlier? It was in truth the work of Cassidy and Butch, who had used Dr. A's machine to transport themselves and a Porygon they had stolen into the virtual realm, using it to not just snatch Pokemon that were being transported from the Pokemon Center, but were intent on stealing every Pokemon from every Center and Gym through the planet using that same method.
Utilizing Porygon, I was able to distract them long enough to let the others begin removing the blockades Team Rocket had set up. Unfortunately, Nurse Joy had someone install an antivirus into the system...and since we were not part of the system, we ended up being targeted for it along with Team Rocket. Porygon was a blessing by managing to mimic the antivirus to let it ignore us, allowing us to defeat Team Rocket with the antivirus. We managed to escape and shut down the system before one of its missiles could get into the real world fully. When Makoto attempted to assault Dr. A, she ended up frightening the two Porygon into hiding behind Dr. A and myself...which lead to the one who hid behind me to end up touching one of the Premier Balls that I tend to keep when we buy PokeBalls in bulk. I have designated the Porygon as 'Athena,' after the Greek Goddess of Wisdom. We decided to avoid Dr. A and the entire port town in the area due to Makoto and her...ahem...issue with Dr. A. We now are heading to the next port town, a mere week away from the last one. I do wonder what we'll encounter today?
"Hmm...It should be in here…" Ash muttered, currently looking through his Pokedex while Brock sat nearby, polishing the Pokemon Egg Mai had found, "Hey, Brock. Is this the one?"
"Hmm?" Brock blinked as he looked over, seeing an image of a small bird-like Pokemon with light-brown feathers holding a leek, "Yup. That's Farfetch'd."
"What are you two looking at?" Misty asked as she walked over to them.
"There's a rumor going around that there's a Farfetch'd roaming around here," Brock explained.
"Seems a little far fetched to me," Makoto joked.
*WHAP!*
"OW!" Makoto yelped.
"Bone!" Nobel scolded, shaking his bone at Makoto, "Bone! Cu-bone-bone!" he looked over at Mai and Tsubaki, "Bone?"
"He wants to know if he did good," Luca chuckled, sitting beside Ash with his eyes closed.
"He did," Tsubaki nodded.
"Bone!" Noble beamed.
"Farfetch'd are particularly rare in Kanto, but there are some living over in the Galar Region," Kajun spoke, looking through her notes before stopping on a page, showing two images of a Farfatch'd with one having darker near-black feathers and the leek much larger, "See?"
"Hey it's another one of those 'looks different somewhere else' things!" Makoto cheered.
"Regional Variant."
"Isn't that what I said?" Makoto blinked a few times with an innocent look.
"Maybe...you hit her too hard." Tsubaki noted looking down at Nobel, "Still good though…" she assured.
"Cu!" Nobel beamed.
"Hmm...there's supposed to be a spring nearby and we need to refuel on some water," Brock spoke, now looking at the map, "Anyone mind giving me some assistance?"
"Sure. I can help," Ash shrugged.
"Mind getting some for me and the girls?" Misty asked, holding up her own canteen.
"Sure thing," Brock nodded as he took it, "Let's go."
"Come on, Pikachu," Ash said as he and Brock walked off, Pikachu following after them.
"Thanks guys!" Misty waved...before sighing as she saw on a rock, "Ugh...all this walking is killer on my legs…"
"Least we were able to rest," Noel spoke, brushing her Mareep's wool a bit.
"True...but I wish we could've stayed in that Pokemon Center," Misty sighed.
"Vul…" Yuki muffled out behind her pacifier, lying on a picnic blanket with Needles and Honey.
"Psyaiyai…" Psyduck said from nearby, sitting on the grass.
"Mmm...I don't have the energy to deal with you," Misty deadpanned, "If I keep looking at that face, I might develop a headache."
"Cubone-bone?" Nobel asked, holding up his bone.
"I don't think that will help right now, Nobel," Mai noted.
"Bone…" Nobel pouted, going over and sitting on the picnic blanket to pout.
"...Bun?" Honey asked, offering one of her donuts to Nobel.
"...Bone," Nobel replied, taking the offered donut.
"...Oh no you don't," Misty spoke, grabbing Psyduck before he could walk over to the picnic blanket, "Moment you start something, it's gonna be trouble, so back into the PokeBall you g-"
"Farfetch'd!"
"Was that a person or the Pokemon?" Makoto blinked a few times.
"The latter," Kajun answered, looking forward to see a regular Farfethch'd walking out of the woods, raising its leek up into the air like it was a baton while it chanted its name, "That's Farfetch'd. They're known as the Wild Duck Pokemon. This extremely rare Pokémon can always be found holding a leek, or green onion, which it uses to build its nest."
"It's rather talented with that leek," Noel noted as Farfetch'd marched back and forth, spinning its leek before tossing it up into the air and catching it, "Oh! Amazing!"
"Farfetch'd!" the Wild Duck Pokemon gave a peace sign in response
"That's interesting," Mai noted, earning Nobel's attention.
"Bone?" Nobel pondered as he thought of an imaginary event of him doing the same thing and earning praise from Mai, "Bone!"
"...If Kantonian Farfetch'd is that rare...and since the boys are gone…" Misty began, a grin growing on her face as she returned Psyduck to his PokeBall, "I'm gonna catch it!"
"Wait, why? Why would you do that?" Makoto asked, "Isn't your thing you only go for Water types? And while 'Duck' it might be...I don't think he's a Water Type."
"Well...I…" Misty began before she noticed Farfetch'd running back into the woods, "Ahh! Hey wait! Come back!"
"As Makoto pointed out, Farfetch'd isn't a W-and she's gone," Kajun muttered as Misty ran off after Farfetch'd.
"...Well, we might as well follow a-" Mai began as she picked her bag up, only to blink when she tried to lift it up, "...uh girls? Are your bags heavier than normal?"
"Hmm?" the others blinked at that before Noel, Kajun, and Tsubaki picked their bags up.
"Odd...They do seem to be heavier…" Tsubaki whispered.
"I don't see it," Makoto spoke, lifting hers up like normal, "So what's the d-" she began when she looked inside, "...There's rocks in here."
"We've been robbed blind…" Tsubaki realized.
"And most of our other Pokemon were in the bags, too…" Mai whispered.
"Ahh! Umi! Nymph!" Noel panicked.
"Vul…" Yuki whimpered.
"Mareee…" Mary spoke.
"Shoot! Rumble was in my bag!" Makoto exclaimed.
"Luca, can you sense the thief anywhere?" Tsubaki asked.
"I can, but their movement seems to be erratic. I can't get a pinpoint on wh-"
"We're back. Sorry it took s-what's going on?" Brock asked as he and Ash walked back into the area.
"WE GOT ROBBED!" Makoto explained.
"Wait, what?!" Ash exclaimed.
"Go check your bags just in case," Kajun advised.
"Right!" Brock agreed as he and Ash hurried over to their backpacks.
"Mmm...can't believe I missed the chance…" Misty sighed as she walked back into the area, "That boy made me lose track of F-"
"Misty!"
"Ahh!" Misty yelped in surprise, "Wh-what's going on?!"
"We got robbed blind!" Mai exclaimed.
"Wh-What?!" Misty gawked as Makoto took her bag, "Hey! What's…" Makoto opened it to reveal rocks, "Rocks?!"
"Ahh! Our bags are full of rocks, too!" Brock gawked.
"Good thing I still have my PokeBalls on m-" Ash began before screaming, "Ahh! That Poke Box thing we got!"
"What about it?" Mai asked.
"It was in my backpack!"
"Heh heh heh…" a young man in a dark red shirt and hairstyle similar to Farfetch'd laughed, carrying the group's backpacks as Farfetch'd followed after him, "Like taking candy from a baby...Nice going playing distraction for those girls, Farfetch'd!"
"Farf!"
"And last I checked, that tomboy had five PokeBalls in her backpack, so we made a killer!" he laughed further, "Shame they're gonna miss their Pokemon...oh no wait. They won't...because they're mine now!"
"Oooh~! I swear if those three idiots in Team Rocket are behind this, I am gonna send them blasting off...INTO SPACE!" Makoto snapped.
"EMOl/CHIPA!" her two electric rodents agreed, her Starter of the two dressed up as Officer Jenny.
"No...this doesn't seem like their usual forte…" Tsubaki muttered, holding her chin in thought as she paced around a bit, "...Misty, did you happen to bump into anyone while running after Farfetch'd?"
"Huh? Um...Yeah," Misty replied, "I ended up bumping into him and he...he...OHH! That guy stole them!"
"I knew it…" Tsubaki frowned, "That Farfetch'd must belong to him...and he used it as a distraction to swap our backpacks with similar ones stuffed with rocks."
"Oh that sucks!" Ash exclaimed.
"The fact they are this good at it...must mean they've been doing it for a while." Brock spoke, "They've practiced, prepared...and probably watched and marked us."
"Oh great...it's a Master Thief!" Makoto snapped, "I'm gonna steal something from him...like his legs!"
"I believe I have them," Luca informed, "I'm following the Farfetch'd's Aura."
"THEN AFTER THAT THIEVING DUCK!" Misty and Makoto snapped.
"Yes Ma'am's!"
"Eevee and some Eeveelutions, Tirtouga, Sandshrew, Buizel, Braviary, Honedge, Rockruff, Onix, Vulpix, Zubat, the Staryu Line, Horsea, a Shiny Milotic, and a Shiny Porygon?! Hahahaha! I really did make a killing!" the Farfetch'd's Trainer laughed, looking through all the PokeBalls the group had before noticing the Poke Box, "What's this?...Oh! This is that thing from Galar! If I can just crack its password, that's more Pokemon for me! We hit the jackpot, Farfetch'd!"
"Far!" Farfetch'd beamed.
"Okay...now go search for some more saps for us t-"
"Sir!" at that, the Poke Box was knocked out of his hands and into the air. A white blur moving around and taking the bags in one single motion before dashing away and stopping besides someone.
The young thief and his Farfetch'd blinked as there stood what looked like a white Farfetch'd, only its leek was huge, so long it split in two, the stalk forming into a long sword and the leaves formed into a shield. Rested on its 'sword' were all the bags hanging by their straps as it turned around to deliver a sharp glare at the duo as the person walked forward.
"I came to this area to look for the Kantonian Farfetch'd," he spoke, lowering the Poke Box, revealing he was a young man in his early teens. He was dressed in dark navy jeans and a hoodie, with a black shirt decorated with a golden sword in the center, he raised his glove covered hand to adjust the navy tinted glasses on his face, "Instead...we find a thief." he sighed running a hand through his black hair, "Any chance you're the kind who steals from the Bad kinda people?"
"Hey woah woah! You got it all wrong!" he yelped, holding his hands up in defense, "I was looking to give that back to whoever it belonged to...and those bags your Pokemon have there belong to me. The Pokemon in those I caught fair and square."
"Sir…" the Pokemon lowered the bags and held his sword up before tilting it down.
"Sirfetch'd says you're lying through your gob…" the young man replied.
"?!"
"So...you're just a normal little thief then…" he looked down at the bags, "These Pokemon probably belong to good people. And you took them from their partners, so...what possible excuse could you have for that, mate?"
"...Uh…."
"THERE HE IS!" Misty's voice snapped.
"...Farfetch'd, Sand Attack escape! Go!" the young thief quickly ordered.
"Farfetch'd!" Farfetch'd yelped as he rapidly flapped his wings, resulting in a large dust cloud.
"Sirfetch'd, Brutal Swing!" the owner of said Pokemon ordered.
Sirfetch'd swung his sword in a large arc, allowing it to cut through the dust cloud and clearing it away before either could get any real distance.
"..."
"..."
"...Oh, this i-"
"Sirfetch'd, Poison Jab…" the young man replied simply.
"No wait!" the young thief shouted, shielding Farfetch'd, "Farfetch'd is too weak to fight in a battle...he wouldn't' stand a chance!"
"It was meant for you…" he replied, pointing at him and not the Pokemon.
"?!" the young thief tensed at that.
"Make sure to aim for the stomach," he reminded his Pokemon as it nodded simply as the sword's tip began glowing purple.
"Wait, I don't think that's...AH!" he cried as he was jabbed in the stomach making him double over, "Legal…" he coughed in pain.
"Oh shoot...it isn't?" he blinked.
"N-!"
"RAAAGH!" Misty and Makoto shouted as they tackled the young thief from the side, "GIVE US BACK OUR POKEMON, YOU THIEF!"
"That I'm sure is probably assault…" the young man spoke as Sirfetch'd tapped the bags to get their attention, "Excuse me? Your items are over here…"
"Hmm?" Misty and Makoto blinked, the former having the young-thief in a headlock while the latter had his legs in a leglock.
"Kantonian girls sure are...tough…" he chuckled.
"Honestly, you two, you could've waited for us to…" Tsubaki began as she and the others walked into the area...and soon noticed the young man and his Pokemon, "..."
"If it's any consolation...your Pokemon are okay." the young man offered as Sirfetch'd nodded and once more patted their bags, "I...sadly can't help your friends should this get legal…"
"That's an interesting looking Farfetch'd," Ash noted, pulling out Dexter.
=Sirfetch'd, the Wild Duck Pokemon, and the evolved form of Galarian Farfetch'd after performing three critical hits in a single battle. It is said that this evolution was attained by a Farfetch'd who experienced and survived many battles. It is known to be calm and collected, preferring to fight fairly. Due to its noble nature, Sirfetch'd is often chosen as a motif for paintings; one famous painting in the Galar region shows a Sirfetch'd duelling with an Escavalier. The leek it carries is its most prized possession, having maintained it for many years. Once the leek finally withers, Sirfetch'd will retire from battle for good= Dexter informed.
"An evolution exclusive to a Regional Variant?" Kajun pondered.
"Yours don't do this in Kanto?" he blinked, "I'll tell you...it was not easy to get this one to evolve. He used to be pretty moody before evolving."
"Sir…" Sirfetch'd tapped his leg hard with his sword.
"Sorry sorry…" he laughed.
"So then you're from…" Ash began.
"Galar, that's right!" he laughed, "My name's Taron...I guess you could say I'm the one who took your stuff back...and this is Sirfetch'd, he really don't like dirty stuff like thieving…"
"Sir…"
"Help…" the young-thief wheezed out.
"...Misty, Makoto, let him go," Tsubaki spoke.
"Wha...but he's a thief!" Makoto argued.
"Honestly I don't think he can feel most of that...Sirfetch'd kinda poisoned him…" Taron muttered.
"Still the fact…!" Misty began.
"He probably had a good reason for stealing other People's Pokemon like he did," Tsubaki stated, gently tapping her paperfan a bit in her opened palm, "Now again Makoto Acornia Nanaya...Misteria Kasumi Waterflower...let him go."
"...yes, ma'am," the two meeped as they let go of the thief.
"Luca?"
"The Farfetch'd has been detained," Luca answered, holding the panicking Farfetch'd by his feet while holding his leek in the other.
"Good."
"..Is this really necessary?" the young thief asked, currently tied up at the moment with his Pokemon.
"Precautions," Kajun answered, "Also be lucky we had an Antidote on hand….now…" a small glint appeared in her eyes, "Start talking."
"Why would you steal and cheat people out of their Pokemon?" Ash demanded, "It takes a lot of love and care to raise Pokemon."
"That's right!" Misty added, "All of us put a lot of love and care into our Pokemon, and you jsut coming to steal them is just wrong!"
"Well…but..."
"In fact...maybe a Pokemon battle w-" Makoto began.
"No wait!" the young thief exclaimed, "Farfetch'd is too weak to even fight. We had no other choice."
"Excuses, excuses…" Taron sighed, sitting nearby as his Sirfetch'd sat next to him and nodded in agreement.
"I'm serious. There are too many strong Pokemon out there for Farfetch'd to fight, so we have no choice but to trick people out of their Pokemon."
"I think you got things mixed up," Brock spoke as he walked over, "Pokemon can become stronger with trainers who work with them."
"But Farfetch'd doesn't even know that many moves," the young thief argued, "All he knows is Sand Attack, Fury Cutter, Peck, and Fury Attack, and those are weak moves."
"He does know what training is right?" Taron asked as he tossed a ball to his Sirfetch'd, who batted it back with his shield.
"..."
"...Is...he a new trainer then?" Noel guessed, holding Yuki and Nymph in her arms.
"...How long ago did you start your journey?" Tsubaki asked.
"Last week."
"...and you haven't caught a single Pokemon once?"
"None. Like I said, Farfetch'd is too weak t-"
"Farfetch'd!"
"Hmm?" he blinked before looking to the left, seeing Farfetch stand up and struggle to get the ropes off, "Farfetch'd?"
"...I think it wants to battle," Ash guessed.
"Battle?"
"Ash is correct. Apparently, it's a trigger word," Luca noted.
"What is?" Tsubaki asked as Farfetch'd squawked rapidly.
"Calling Fury Cutter weak apparently," Luca replied.
"...Oh I get it," Brock realized, "I think he doesn't know what Fury Cutter is capable of."
"Capable of?" the young thief repeated.
"What's Fury Cutter?" Misty pondered.
"Sounds fury-ous to me," Ash noted, earning a giggle from Makoto.
"Stop corrupting him with puns," Tsubaki deadpanned.
"I thought it was funny…" Taron added.
"All it does is make a tiny scratch on things," the thief snorted.
"Did you use it more than once?" Taron asked.
"Hah? Why would I do that?" he asked.
"It may be better to show than simply tell," Luca noted.
"Sir," Sirfetch'd agreed with a nod before his leek was a blur and the binds on Farfetch'd fell before pointing at the smaller bird and then a rock nearby, "Fetch. Sirfetch'd sir."
"What are you doing?" the thief blinked.
"He wants Farfetch'd to demonstrate on that rock," Taron explained, "Back when my Sirfetch'd was a Galarian Farfetch'd, it's how we'd train with Fury Cutter…"
"I still don't get it," Ash pondered as Farfetch'd charged at the rock and swung with his leek, leaving a tiny scratch.
"Sir," Sirfetch'd spoke, pointing at the rock again while Ash took out Dexter.
=Fury Cutter, a Bug-Type Move that was first discovered/developed in the Johto Region several hundred years ago and was originally used for woodcutting. Counting Regional Variations, 45 Pokemon can learn this move naturally through battle and three through breedings= Dexter informed as Farfetch'd swung his leek again repeatedly on the rock, leaving a bigger cut each time =Each time this move is successfully used, its power doubles until the move misses=
"Doubles…?" Makoto blinked.
"Aye…" Taron nodded, "It's got good chances of hitting many times, and using the move isn't taxing on the Pokemon. So it's a bit of a slow burn, but if you can get enough hits in...eventually…" he paused as they looked to see the rock now had a large gash carved into it from all the swings, "You might just be impressed."
"Fetch'd," Sirfetch'd nodded at the Farfetch'd.
"Far!" Farfetch'd beamed.
"Wow...that actually looks like it's really strong…" Makoto awed.
"There's a move that can do that...go figure," Ash agreed.
"You folks don't read the move list much, do ya?" Taron asked.
"Just Kajun," Luca replied.
"It's true only Galrian Farfetch'd can evolve...but that don't mean the Kantonian version ain't got the skill to compete. It just takes a lot of work," Taron added, changing the subject back on topic.
"...I don't know.." the thief muttered.
"Man, you are lazy, er…" Makoto trailed off.
"You never did tell us your name," Taron noted.
"I can also tell if you're lying through your Aura," Luca warned.
"?! K-Keith! My name is Keith!"
"To be honest I expected something topical…" Taron noted.
"D'oh…" Keith slumped before Farfetch'd began to speak up.
"Huh? He feels you just insulted his Trainer's honor and demands satisfaction," Luca noted as Sirfetch'd huffed and gave a few squawks, "And Sirfetch'd has stated 'a thief has no honor.'"
"Ooh...drama~!" Makoto awed.
"Shush," Tsubaki shushed as both birds started to squawk.
"Alright, alright. That's enough from you both," Luca held his paws up as Terra pushed them apart with Strength, "Honor has been questioned and satisfaction has been demanded. Since Sirfetch'd has declined, do you have another Pokemon available or would you prefer to have someone else battle Farfetch'd, Taron?"
"Here in Kanto your Farfetch'd are Flying types right?" Taron asked, earning a few nods, "Well I guess I can keep it fair." He pulled out a Pokeball he tossed up as it opened and projected light which reformed into a new Pokemon. This one was a large black bird covered in what looked like armor, consisting of an armored chest plate with tufts of black feathers forming plumage, it's wings seemingly had an armored layer over them and its head was covered in natural armor like a helmet with a crown. It opened its eyes to reveal black eyes with red pupils.
"Woah! What is that?!" Ash asked in awe as he pulled out his Pokedex almost instantly.
=Corviknight, the Raven Pokemon and the final evolution of Rookidee. It is said that Corviknight is the strongest Pokémon living in the skies of the Galar region. It can often be seen fearlessly soaring through the air. Many say that any Pokémon foolish enough to challenge Corviknight are sent running with just a sharp glare and cry from this fearsome Pokémon. Corviknight preys on Bunnelby. It has violent territorial clashes with Skarmory= Dexter informed.
"This is one of the first Pokemon I ever caught, and my oldest of friends," Taron explained, patting the Raven Pokemon's head, as it leaned into the act of affection, "What do you say, old chum...up for a battle?"
Corviknight looked at Luca, who held his paws up, "Not me. I'm just a neutral party." he pointed at Farfetch'd, "He is the one who is demanding satisfaction through a Pokemon Battle."
Corviknight looked down at Farfetch'd, its red eyes glaring down intently, but the smaller Pokemon refused to flinch. After a moment, Corviknight spread its wings out and let out a powerful screech that knocked most everyone off their feet, feeling an intense pressure from the Pokemon.
"He says 'Very well...let us battle with honor'…" Luca translated, among those knocked on their rear.
"Wh-What?!" Keith gawked.
"Take this as a chance to see what he can do," Ash encouraged.
"A challenge can't be taken back," Taron added, "Come on, Mate. Let's have a proper battle."
"Ulp…" Keith gulped before several minutes passed as the two were standing across one another with Farfetch'd and Corviknight between them and Lucario at the side.
"This is a battle between Farfetch'd and Corviknight. The first to faint loses," Luca informed, "Begin!"
"Uh…" Keith blanked, "Uhm...Farfetch'd use…" he paused trying to think, "Use Sand Attack so he can't hit you!"
"Iron Defense," Taron ordered as Corviknight's armor began to glow and suddenly was more reflective.
Corviknight raised its wing and let the sand just...clash against its wing and do nothing. Corviknight's eyes glared as Farfetch'd blinked in confusion. The feathers on its wings were shiny and reflective for a moment...and suddenly Farfetch'd's vision felt...blurry.
"Good idea…" Taron sighed, "But I think you are in for a surprise."
"What?" Keith blinked.
"My Corviknight has a rare ability." he explained simply, "But that's all I'll say. It's my turn now, Corviknight...Drill Peck!"
Corviknight flew up with a powerful gust of wind from his wings. He flew up before looping around and aiming at Farfetch'd, the Raven pokemon suddenly dive bombed down before twisting its body and spinning around like a drill. Everyone flinched as the attack struck Farfetch'd and caused a huge explosion of dirt and dust. After a moment, Corviknight flew back up as the dust settled to show Farfetch'd as he struggled to stand back up.
"Farfetch'd!" Keith shouted in worry, "Don't get up! You can't win this fight!"
"Far...fetch'd!" Farfetch'd grunted as he got back up.
"KNIGHT!" Corviknight cried out in response to the little Farfetch'd's bravery.
"Corviknight respects your Pokemon's guts…" Taron smiled, "I can tell...he wants to see him grow strong. To put up a true fight next time. You're his partner, ain't ya? Shouldn't you respond to your Pokemon's feelings? That proud soul that wants to battle, to fight the good fight and see it through, win or lose?"
"Proud soul?" Keith repeated under his breath as he looked at Farfetch'd, "Um...Agility?"
A glint appeared in Farfetch'd's eyes for a moment before he became a blur, shooting about the place as he rushed for Corviknight. Corviknight moved his eyes around as if tracking Farfetch'd at this speed.
"Iron Defense!" Taron shouted as Corviknight swung its wing just as it flashed and became reflective again, just in time to block a swing from Farfetch'd.
"Wow...it's actually really fast," Ash spoke up.
"Pika…" Pikachu nodded in agreement.
"Farhar~!" Farfetch'd shouted as he rapidly began to jab his leak into Corviknight, who seemed unphased by it after a few jabs. However, it began to grunt a bit when one jab suddenly hurt it a bit.
"...Interesting…" Kajun whispered as she watched on, actually seeing Corviknight being pushed back a bit, "It's combining Fury Attack with Fury Cutter."
"Fury Attack?" Ash repeated, Dexter out once more.
=Fury Attack, a Normal-Type multi-hit Move. 47 Pokemon can learn this through battling and 2 through Breedings. This Move can hit between two to five times in a row and is rumored to be able to deliver Critical Hits with each strike if the first one is a Critical Hit= Dexter informed =Many first-time Trainers tend to confuse Fury Attack and the Move Fury Cutter=
"That's the spirit...Corviknight, counter with Steel Wing!" Taron ordered.
Corviknight swung his wing as it flashed with silvery light. It clashed with Farfetch'd's next swing, the two attacks pushing each other back. The two clashed time and time again as clanging filled the air. However...for some reason Corviknight seemed to regain strength, as each use of Steel Wing deflected the combination move's combination of blows. Farfetch'd grunted as one swing of Corviknight's large wings sent him skidding back.
"Each time Steel Wing is used, it has a chance to raise the user's defense," Kajun noted.
"That means...it's not just countering...but buffing its defense at the same time…" Makoto realized, "How do you take it down?!"
"By overpowering his defense," Brock noted, "This is something a Rock or Steel-Type Gym Leader often does as a test for Trainers to see if they can overcome a powerful 'wall.'"
"This is much better," Taron smiled, "Your Partner has some real potential." At that, Corviknight blocked another swing from Farfetch'd, "I think Corviknight feels better...using some of our real A game now." he smirked as Corviknight suddenly took off into the sky, "Corviknight…" he began as his Pokemon spread out it's wings, "Light up the sky...Brave Bird!"
"Cor!" Corviknight flapped its wings as its black armor began glowing with a blue heat...until blue flames suddenly erupted around it, the flames spread out to cover his entire body before diving down, his wings pulled back as he dived down for maximum speed. Corviknight spread its wings just before hitting the ground and flew right at Farfetch'd, the flames taking the visage of a large bird of blue fire. Everyone flinched as the attack hit with a powerful explosion.
"Whoa! That is one hot bird," Makoto gawked, earning a bop of Tsubaki's paper folding fan, "Gah!"
The smoke from the explosion was dispersed by Corviknight swinging its wings out while Farfetch'd, covered in bruises, fell from the sky and crashed down on the ground. A moment passed and Farfetch'd started to struggle with getting back up.
"That is one determined bird," Misty whispered with wide eyes.
"Come on, Farfetch'd...please stay down," Keith begged, "There's no way we can win...it's just too strong!"
"F...far...Far…" Farfetch'd growled as an aura of determination seemed to surround him, "FAR~!"
"Farfetch'd?" Keith blinked before Farfetch'd dashed off in a blur, "?!"
"Did...did Farfetch'd just learn Agility on the fly?" Brock blinked.
"And it seemed to activate Defiant on the fly," Kajun noted.
"Defiant?" Ash repeated.
"A rare ability for Farfetch'd. Normally if it's stats are lowered, its attack goes up by two stages," Kajun explained, "But here...it seems Kieth's Farfetch'd activated it through sheer force of will."
"Even if Farfetch'd hasn't been used in battle, it's obvious Keith's been doing everything else right," Brock noted.
"Hmm." Taron smirked as Corviknight sparked from the recoil of it's attack, "You're a good fight little guy."
"FAR~!" Farfetch'd squawked loudly as he began to jab his leek in another Fury Cutter/Fury Attack combination, only this time the leek was a blur as it rapidly jammed into Corviknight, causing the larger bird to actually grunt in pain from each jab before the smaller brd delivered one final jab, causing Corviknight to stagger back...and collapse onto his back, "FARHAHARARFETCH'D~!"
"Wh...what just happened?!" Makoto gawked.
"Most likely? He actually got a critical hit in with the first Fury Cutter/Fury Attack combination and...well you see the result," Kajun explained.
"Alright...you showed us the guts." Taron smirked, "Corviknight...let's finish this, use Body Press!"
"Body Press?" Makoto asked.
"A move that takes a Pokemon's defensive power...and turns it into offensive power." Kajun explained, "And given Corviknight has such amazing defensive power...which has increased throughout the battle…"
"Cor…." Corviknight whispered as it got up and took off into the air, body glowing as it began to hover over Farfetch'd..before shooting down like a heavy object.
"FAR!?" Farfetch'd freaked as he began to use Agility to try and get away.
"Good boy, Farfetch'd! Keep running and make him miss!" Kieth cheered on, 'I didn't even know Farfetch'd had these kind of moves...maybe I could've used it to actually catch some Pokemon than steal them…"
"You did good with that one," Tarron smiled as the dust cloud hid Corviknight from view, "But Farfetch'd feet are off the ground." he pointed out, "Brave Bird!" the dust suddenly exploded as Corviknight flew out at top speed and crashed into Farfetch'd again, this time at full force and short range.
"FAR!" Farfetch'd gagged as he flew back, crashing right into a tree as he began to slowly slide down it, "...fetch'd…"
"F-farfetch'd?" Keith asked in shock.
"You did well, you fought well. The crowd would be cheering like mad if this was Galar," Taron smiled.
"Crowd? Cheering?" Ash repeated.
"Oh yeah...most of the Gyms in Galar have huge crowds that cheer on the two trainers battling," Taron explained, "Not sure if the Gyms here are the same way, but they bring in a large crowd." he smiled, "In Galar, we love nothing more than battling, seeing two trainers and their Pokemon give their all. The excitement...the thrill...the fun! It didn't matter who won, we enjoyed it as two people giving it their all with their partners."
"...Oh! So they're like the Pokemon League battles?!" Ash excitedly asked.
"Aye...though not sure how the one here in Kanto works," Taron shrugged, "The one in Galar lets the Gym Leaders compete as well."
"Wait, what?" Misty blinked.
"Not every Gym challenger gets to make it to the League tournament," Taron explained, "In Galar, you need to beat all of them the normal way...and then those same Leaders get promised spots in the roster of the League. By the time the League battle begins...we're lucky if maybe a handful of the dozens of trainers have made it far enough."
"Whoa…" Ash awed as Luca picked up the knocked out Farfetch'd as Tsubaki came over with a medical kit for Pokemon.
"He did well against a Pokemon as strong as that Corviknight," Luca noted, looking at Keith.
"But...he still lost…" Keith argued.
"Yes, but people learn from their losses and mistakes," Tsubaki answered, currently wrapping some bandages around Farfetch'd's wing, "It gives them time to improve and learn possible new strategies while at the same time...bond with your Pokemon."
"Bond?" Keith repeated
"Yes...haven't you and Farfethc'd bonded...despite your methods of obtaining Pokemon?"
"Ah…" Keith blinked twice as he thought of all the times he and Farfetch'd spent together, "...We...did bond a lot…I guess...I shouldn't have doubted Farfetch'd the way I did...and..."
"And…?"
"...And I shouldn't have resorted to stealing other people's Pokemon…and give back the ones I did steal to their original trainers."
"Took him a few times on the roundabout...but he got there." Taron muttered.
"Also, to note? You nearly swiped a Charizard. A very protective Charizard," Luca noted as he pointed at Ash's belt, "If his ball had been in there and opened? Roasted Farfetch'd with a side of grilled Keith."
"...Oh crud…" Keith paled at that, "I...I really dodged a bullet on that one."
"Yeah...yeah you did," Makoto nodded.
"Yup..and you forgot one more thing…" Misty began before holding her backpack out..which was full of rocks, "MY ACTUAL BACKPACK WITH MY POKEMON!"
"Oh...eh heh. Nearly...forgot about that," Keith sheepishly yet nervously chuckled.
"Grr.."
"Well...he did ruin your day...I'd say a minute of rough housing is fair?" Taron turned to Tsubaki, knowing full well she was the leader here.
"...hmm...He has learned his lesson...but...I suppose one more...and to quote something Makoto heard once, a boot to the head wouldn't hurt."
"Wait, what?" Keith blinked.
"Go ahead…" Tsubaki sighed.
"COME HERE!"
"WHERE'D SHE GET THE HAMMER?!" Keith freaked as he ran with Misty chasing after him.
"Never ask a lady where she gets anything if you're not ready for the answer," Makoto noted before chasing as well, "GET BACK HERE!"
"I didn't say you could join, Makoto!" Tsubaki snapped.
"Too late! Already back to angry!"
"I did say just a minute…" Taron added, "You're wastin' time…" he smirked.
"AHH~!"
"Well...least Keith and Farfetch'd learned to not steal anymore and start training," Noel spoke as the group was now within a Pokemon Center.
"After he gives back all the Pokemon he stole this following week," Mai added.
"He better," Misty muttered, holding her backpack holding all her Pokemon defensively.
"Heh heh. You Kantonian girls sure are somethin'," Taron chuckled from a nearby table.
"Hey it's you!" Makoto pointed.
"Taron," he reminded as he patted Corviknight who was standing next to him, "Gotta admit...That was a pretty well fought battle. Not many have made Corviknight take that much damage. Most of the time it's his own Brave Bird that does it." at that, the Raven Pokemon began pecking his head in protest, "Okay okay, I take it back." he laughed.
"Cor…"
"Heh heh...so where are you all heading to next?" Taron asked the group.
"We're hoping to find the next port town that has a boat leading to Cinnabar Island," Noel answered, "And so far...no luck."
"Isn't there one in Fuchsia city?"
"A herd of Gyarados were seen last time we were there," Tsubaki sighed.
"Well I wish you guys luck." Taron replied, "I have to be going soon. But I hope to see you at the League."
"Same!" Ash nodded excitedly while Pikachu was busy with a bottle of ketchup, "After hearing of Galar...it makes me really wanna see how strong other Pokemon from there are!"
"From just seeing Corviknight and Sirfetch'd, they already seem really strong," Misty noted.
"And cute when we first saw a Scorbunny and those entries on Yamper and Wooloo," Noel added, Yuki nodding rapidly on recalling the fluffy sheep.
"Wooloo...I haven't seen one of those since I was back home. They just roll around the fields all day," Taron mused, "They get stuck in weird places a lot though…"
"Really? Sounds wooly to me," Makoto noted before Tsubaki bopped her with her paper folding fan, "Ow! Come on! That was funny!"
"I'll say," Ash snickered, "I think Tsubaki's too baaashful to admit it was a good one."
Corviknight blinked...before walking over...and proceeding to peck Ash and Makoto as hard as it could.
"OW!"
"Yeah, he doesn't like puns." Taron explained as the Raven Pokemon kept chasing them.
"Pika…" Pikachu shook his head.
"Though if you're looking for a way to Cinnabar, there's an old man with an Abra in town," Taron noted, "He and his Abra spent years travelling the regions, so he uses Abra as an express teleport service."
"Really?" Mai asked.
"Might just save you some time," he offered, "Couldn't hurt to check if he has the time."
"...That is true, and it would save us some money for travel expenses," Tsubaki muttered as she thought it over, "...Do you know where this old man is right now?"
"His home shouldn't be too far from here," Taron added as Corviknight dragged back Ash and Makoto, "No no...you don't get to keep them…" he sighed as Corviknight dropped them at that.
"They're not going to learn, are they?" Misty deadpanned.
"Not likely," Tsubaki sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.
"Knight…" Corviknight agreed as he pecked Makoto one more time.
"This bird hates me!" Makoto complained.
"Pachi/Emol~!" Berry and Cherry agreed, poking their heads out of her tail before hiding once more when Corviknight gave them a look.
"I'd be happy to show you the way once I'm done," Taron replied as he shook his head at his Pokemon's antics.
"We'd like that," Kajun smiled a bit
"Thanks, well I'm gonna check on the rest of my Pokemon, mind watching this one? Make sure he doesn't...you know…" he motioned to his Corviknight and then to Ash and Makoto who were still dazed, "Eat them?" he joked.
"Not at all. Would enjoy a conversation with the Region from a fellow Pokemon's perspective," Luca assured.
Corviknight nodded in agreement as he quickly looked at Ash and Makoto, making them flinch and fall over again.
"(For the record, we're not as dumb as them)," Pikachu noted.
"(Humans tend...to take some effort to make presentable…)" Corviknight replied, looking at Taron.
"I know that look…" Taron groaned.
"(So...can you become a giant bird like this Pikachu we met could get chubby when he got big?)" Berry asked.
"(You saw a Gigantamax Pikachu? Outside of Galar?)" Corviknight asked, "(Peculiar...Mainly that Dynamax Particles are found only in Galar.)"
"(I didn't hear a 'no')," Cherry noted.
"(Yes, I can. I am a Gigantamax Capable Pokemon. It's...actually not that hard, either you're born with it...or you can eat this wonderful mushroom soup from the Isle of Armor)," Corviknight explained.
"(Mushroom? Yuck…)" Pikachu stuck his tongue out.
"What's wrong with mushrooms?" Luca asked.
"(I ate a mushroom when I was a Pichu...and let's just say that a bush as big as a Golem died by the time it was done with me)," Pikachu replied.
"(As my trainers friend would say...TMI…)" Corviknight spoke while looking away.
"(Hey. Luca asked)," Pikachu replied.
"(Just as blunt as your trainer…)" Cherry sighed.
"(And you two aren't as perky as yours?)" Pikachu replied.
"Girls, girls, you're all pretty."
"(I am not a girl!)"
"(Well, when we got to speak like humans thanks to that freaky sealed up Haunter trying to get out, you did sound like a little girl.)"
"(We swore to never talk about that night!)" Pikachu barked at Berry.
"(Allow me to settle this…)" Corviknight sighed...before smashing Pikachu upside the head with his metallic wing, "(And one for the annoying one.)" he spoke, smacking Berry next.
"(OW~!)"
"(And now all is right with the world.)"
"(I can't feel my face…)" Pikachu groaned, face first on the ground.
"(Honestly, if you want to know more about what Gigantamax Pokemon there are, you'll need that wanker in my trainer's phone)," Corviknight huffed.
"(What's a wanker?)" Yuki innocently asked.
"We'll tell you when you're older...and you are not allowed to say that word until you're a Ninetails," Luca ordered.
"(Still...who are you talking about)?" Berry asked.
"(Oi! Lazy one who contributes nothing says what!)" Corviknight shouted as Taron's backpack began moving around until finally a small pocket opened to reveal a floating orange smartphone.
=What?=
"(Gotcha!)"
=...Oh, you suck=
"(Here. Ask this one. He's better at explaining it)" Corviknight spoke, "(Oi...tell them how Dynamax and Gigantamax works)" he ordered.
"(Please do,)" Hikari spoke as she teleported in, holding onto a notepad and pen.
"(AHH!)" Pikachu yelped as he jumped back, "(Don't do that!)"
"(One more for the idiot)" Corviknight spoke, slapping Pikachu.
"(Why are you surprised? This is knowledge. We love it)," Koko deadpanned as Athena nodded rapidly.
"(I think I'm the odd one out in this crowd of science girls)," Houdini noted, lazily lying beside Yuki.
=I'll tell in trade of registering your entries in my ongoing National Dex database=
"(Really?)" Corviknight sighed.
=I am in competition with this one infuriating Rotom Phone that's in the Kanto Region for the one to get the most before the Indigo League starts= the Rotom argued =She's beating me by seven entries so far. Seven=
"(What did you bet?)" Corviknight asked, "(Know what...nevermind...I'd rather not know and just punish you directly when something we worked hard to get goes missing…)"
=Bragging rights=
"(Oi…)"
"(We'll be here for a bit, so feel free to explain to us what you can,)" Koko spoke
"(Only you guys can take something cool...and make it feel boring as heck…)" Pikachu groaned.
"(That's what I say)," Houdini noted before yelping as Pikachu was caught in Psychic and used to wallop Houdini with.
"(Not bad,)" Corviknight nodded.
"(Thank you)," Koko thanked.
