Story 1: The Ray Of Hope, A Wooden Coaster Tale
Date: August 20th, 2016
Intro: Well well. Welcome to the first short story that is part of this collection of adventures! This is a rewrite of the first ever fictional piece of writing I ever made as far as I'm aware. To reflect that, I put the date of the story as August 20th, 2016. That's right around the time it was first written as an assignment in 7th grade language arts class. This is going to be good when I'm finished with it! The short story after this will be about the Molter creatures inhabiting part of Kohnanix, a world of walking and talking animals called furries. Now sit, lay back, or whatever as you read this!
This world is a dark place, a very dark place. Even after the fall of the Soviet Union, world peace was still a far off dream. On September 11th, 2001, the Twin Towers were hit by hijacked airplanes as was the Pentagon building. Another hijacked plane was diverted to a field instead of hitting the Capitol building. Yugoslavia fell into disunion and broke up in the 90s. Under the direction of the president of the US at the time, the War On Terror began. It did much more harm than good. In 2008, the federal minimum wage increased for the last time. In the world a certain person knew, movements such as MAGA and The Proud Boys showed up before that year and Trump was elected instead of Obama. The genocide of marginalized people intensified and at some point, World War 3 happened. A leftist revolution began in the US, leading to it losing the war. But it was far from the only country as that war went nuclear. The world's worst nightmares came to pass. Not just more genocide but worldwide devastation. The damage was too much for most countries and soon, the United States of America became the first country to collapse, most of its population dead from its own heinous acts and the nukes.
What nobody realized was that all these problems caused by imperialism and greed were partly due to number cards that came to the universe after The Shadow was defeated and split up. Supplies dwindled for everyone except the rich. As the rich sat on and watched as the world crumbled around their mansions, they continued to earn from the suffering of others like flesh eating parasites. Hope barely remains, most entertainment venues including amusement parks were destroyed or abandoned. It turns out Six Flags New Orleans was just one of the first major parks they would lose in the 2000s. Hurricane Katrina was now a distant memory, New Orleans became a ghost town reclaimed by the swamp. But still, the biggest theme parks survived. Kings Island, Europa Park, Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, Universal Studios. Legoland, Alton Towers to name a few. However, only one coaster has been built since WW3 even with Cedar Point's owner Cedar Fair managing the former Paramount Parks like Carowinds, Kings Island, and Kings Dominion really well. The bankrupt Six Flags in a bid to stay alive allowed Cedar Fair to take over its assets, this was now a world where the economy didn't matter. The Great Recession crippled things greatly before the nukes even got to start to destroy lives. The leftist revolution liberated the remaining marginalized people who banded together and managed to take over companies like Cedar Fair and Target. The controversy that was stirring about SeaWorld and the Swine Flu were no longer a concern to anybody.
The Democratic and Republican parties lost so many people they were no longer formidable oppressors of the marginalized. And then there was the closed Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville, Kentucky. It's downfall started with an incident where the legs of a teenage girl went through something gruesome on the Superman: Tower Of Power drop tower ride at the park manufactured by Intamin. The now collectively owned Cedar Fair sent some workers from Kings Island in Mason, Ohio to Kentucky Kingdom. The Anarchists, Black Americans, Socialists, Queers, Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans, Greens, women, and so on who took over Cedar Fair had a plan that you'd think the rich would be the first to devise and try. They were going to try something ambitious and crazy. In Cincinnati, the Gravity Group, a manufacturer of wooden coasters known for building The Voyage at Holiday World also became collectively owned and were given the plans by Cedar Fair. The coppers in their uniforms tried to stop all of this even though there wasn't much social stratification left for them to uphold by any means necessary. For instance, Hollywood was nearly wiped completely off the map. This didn't deter Cedar Fair or The Gravity Group. Instead, they got as many wooden coaster experts, builders, and engineers as they could to build a really long but compact roller coaster inside of Kentucky Kingdom.
At the same time, they brought in more help to fix up the entire park and expanded it somewhat into the nearby parking lot. Fortunately, Kings Island, Cedar Point, and Kentucky Kingdom weren't hit by much radiation from the nukes so it was safe to build a coaster in Kentucky Kingdom. The original owner of Kentucky Kingdom, Ed Hart sadly died due to a nuke dropped in the state. Within 8 months, the new wooden coaster was complete. It's name: The Ray Of Hope. One of the volunteers who helped build it is named Iggy Bones. It is his life we will be focusing on as he is part of the key to keeping the area's symbol of hope alive from a disaster. The Ohio River flooded many times in the Cincinnati area in the 20th century, several times just in the 1950s and 60s. Iggy was a normal teenager who was born in 1989. His parents loved to tell him when he was still a little girl who didn't understand much about when the USSR fell. As he got older, he found himself learning about the LGBTQIA+ community and questioned his gender identity. He learned that gender identity is not directly linked to your reproductive organs or stuff like that which was something he assumed after taking Sex Ed classes. It's unfortunate Iggy never studied Sociology. Anyway, the state of the world became more tense and in 2007, Iggy was found dead after being shot by a transphobic school shooter. That wasn't the end of him though. His mother found a bunch of stuff about him being transgender in his diary the day after he was shot and killed.
Iggy never shared that because he knew his father hated trans people. But still, his mother is Dr. Amelia Bones, a scientist who has worked in robotics and biotechnology. Dr. Bones is a red haired and green haired light skinned middle aged woman normally wearing a green lab coat. One of the lost number cards gave her the knowledge for biotechnology in 2002. It was as if fate chose her to protect it due to her kind and inclusive heart. In a few days, Iggy awoke to find himself alive and not dead: "How am I alive? Mom, what time is it and why does my voice sound funny?" Amelia looks at him with a big smile: "It's a long story, son." "Did you just say son?" "That's right, Iggy. You are my son, just as you always dreamed you could be. After the shooter killed you, I found your diary entries about struggling with your identity and wanting to come out as trans. What I never told you is I can turn someone into an android. An android is a robot but with biotechnology instead of metal. In order to bring you back to life, I converted you from a human to an android. You no longer have a heartbeat but you are alive, stronger, faster, and more indestructible than ever. It's true you can't change biological sex but being transgender doesn't have much to do with your biological sex unlike what the transphobic people say." Iggy gives his mom a big hug: "Thank you for everything. What happened to the shooter?" "Someone claiming to be from another dimension won a fight against them and bent their gun before they sent the shooter off to a deserted island as far as I know." "Another dimension?" "It looks like the multiverse theory is correct." "Hey mom, I'm scared. The world is getting scarier every day.. What if I lose you like you lost me?" "I won't let anything happen to you. Your father may have kicked me out of the house for accepting you being a man instead of a woman but that won't stop me. I had to make myself an android too in order to survive what's coming."
Iggy is now a revived android with blonde hair, brown eyes, and a slight tan. His shirt is of a video game that would soon be lost forever. 9 years later and about 7 since The Ray Of Hope opened, Iggy is fast asleep in his mother's house having both pleasant dreams and nightmares of the world around them. Around 7 AM, he wakes up to the smell of fresh pancakes. The night before, he and Amelia learned that a flood devastated much of what's left of Downtown Louisville a month back. Cleanup has been going very well. Today, he was going to tell her over breakfast that he's going to meet up with friends to help at Kentucky Kingdom. Theres a risk of something else due to how dry the area has been since the flood. Amelia holds a plate of pancakes with the biggest smile she can pull off in these terrible times as Iggy comes downstairs being pulled by the smell: "Good morning dear, how was your sleep?" He smiles back too: "Other than a few nightmares, it was great! Mmm something smells good!" She gives him the plate with an even bigger smile: "That's right Iggy! I made pancakes, your favorite!" "Well then, it's chow time!" Amelia gets out her own plate and puts the remaining pancakes on it. Once seated and eating, the 2 talk about a lot of things. The queer friendly area they moved to is a very safe place that allows them to do this without the threat of someone shooting out the windows with an automatic and dangerous gun. After breakfast is finished, Iggy helps clean up and put away the dishes: "Hey mom, I'm worried about The Ray Of Hope. My friends and I are going to meet up at that collectively owned Starbucks down the road before going to Kentucky Kingdom." She replies with a stoic expression: "If you're going, I'm going too. I need to protect you from bullies." "Mom, I'm an adult android. You have to be joking!" "Well, I kind of am. I don't need to come just to protect you. This card I've had for the past 10 years feels like it's trying to tell me something very important is going to happen today. I have to come with you."
Amelia shows her son the number card: Number 917: The Elegant Protector Angel of Technology. "But how could a Yu-Gi-Oh! card tell you that? I've never seen anything like it though." Amelia sits down and gestures to her son to sit down as well before they go: "There is something I have been meaning to tell you since I brought you back as an android. This card came from the sky about 10 years ago today. Curious, I picked it up. Once I did, my scientific knowledge expanded greatly and I felt a connection with it. Over the years, I learned to understand the way it communicates through bursts of energy. A great battle that was fought outside of time itself brought it to our world and to me. It's now telling me there's danger in Kentucky Kingdom. We must leave at once." About 25 minutes later, they arrived at the Starbucks by walking and entered to meet Iggy's friends: Jenny and Katsumi, already waiting at a table. Jenny greets her friend: "Hey Iggy! Why's your mom here?" The somewhat tanned brown haired and blue eyed woman gives a confused look. Iggy gulps nervously: "She said it was important that she come. Mom says a magical card told her that it was important to go." "Magical card?" Amelia joins the conversation: "We don't have time for that. I sensed danger coming from Kentucky Kingdom." Katsumi, a red haired, tan skinned, and hazel eyed man flashes a look of alarm: "But wait, I know what the danger is! The Ray Of Hope is on fire!" Iggy's worried expression turns to one of fear and panic: "Oh no! That's really bad! If it burns down, it will crush hope and bring down a lot of the park with it! We have to hurry! It's been years since we could rely on firefighters! Everyone, we need to get the emergency water buckets at the entrance of the park and move as fast as we can! There's no time to lose! Mom, is there any way we can get there faster than running? I haven't seen a car in 8 years!"
She nods with a serious look: "I forgot to mention that as androids, the 2 of us can fly. I'll take Jenny, you take Katsumi." They all agree to the plan. A few minutes later, they land at the main entrance to Kentucky Kingdom. It's simple and yet so nice. There's plenty of room for hundreds of people to hang out before park opening, the rocky pathway is well crafted while the entrance buildings are mostly painted a fresh red color. Workers from the Gravity Group greet them: "So you're the extra help we've been waiting for. Come quick! Don't worry about getting the buckets, we took care of that already. Here's one for each of you. When we reach Mile High Falls, stop there to extract some water from the log flume's station quickly and purposefully." The 4 nod and the group move out, running at top speed. Kentucky Kingdom is a small park, there are 2 sides to it divided by a road that is used to enter its parking lot in the first place. They pass by the kiddie attractions, junior coaster Roller Skater which is NOT built for tall people, Flying Dutchman ride, indoor 3D cinema, Thunder Run wooden coaster, and then get to Mile High Falls by the Twisted Twins dueling wooden coasters. In this timeline, Rocky Mountain Construction never gets to turn the Texas Giant wooden coaster into the steel-wood hybrid New Texas Giant so it never ends up turning the Twisted Twins into Storm Chaser, a hybrid with wooden structure/supports and red steel track. Amelia, Jenny, Katsumi, and Iggy shock the workers by how fast they collect the water. After that, they enter the water park Hurricane Bay, part of admission to Kentucky Kingdom. Some time later, they finally get to The Ray Of Hope, built where Kentucky Flyer is in Kind Warrior Adam's timeline, ironically manufactured by that timeline's Gravity Group.
And Skycatcher doesn't exist either. The fire hasn't spread onto the track but it's very nasty. The wood of the queue is all gone and the station is up in flames. The fire roars on: like a lion mauling a bunch of small animals, it's ferocity intensifying as it gets bigger and bigger. The smell of smoke is suffocating to all except the 2 androids. Thus, Amelia and Iggy lead the charge to stop the fire somehow. There are already 10 other people working at maximum to put it out but they are getting exhausted from trying so hard. That's when the mother and son duo take the big buckets from all of them and rapidly pour them on the flames. Jenny yells over the sounds of the fire: "Everyone! We need to get them as much water as possible! There's a water slide pool nearby! We can use the water from there and get it to them! Move fast, we need to move like clockwork to pull this off!" As this happened, a face off was going on underneath the red T3 roller coaster. Just like in Adam's timeline the Vekoma Suspended Looping Coaster was renovated from T2 to T3 with a full red paint job for the track and supports. The 2 fighting were Adam and a rich looking person. "Okay now that you've summoned your number, I might as well summon one of my own numbers, Billy Richman! I use Digital Artist Sandra's effect to make the other 2 pendulum artist monsters on my field level 12 as well! Now watch as I create the most creative of all overlay networks! This lets me perform a most artistic and frightening Xyz summon! I shall hunt your number with help from a good friend! Become the bringer of art, horror, and chaos as always! Appear before us now, Regnes! Show Billy what you Number 916 can do!"
Regnes appears on the field with a sinister smile at Billy and Number 422: Banko, The King Of Mischief: "No way! You have a number too? But how's that possible? I know of every person who is still alive and you're not one of them!" Adam wags one of their fingers: "Not quite! I'm from a different timeline where things are still really bad but they're not THIS bad. Now then, I despise rich people like you. You tried to kill me. Therefore, you won't get any mercy from me! Now watch as I use the very chaos inside of me to open up a different kind of overlay network! It's time, Regnes! And of course, your card that blocks me from special summoning extra deck monsters is still useless with Horror Artist Screecher in one of my Pendulum zones! Now, time for more chaos! Go Chaos Xyz evolution! Become the force that terrifies those who harm other people due to their twisted sense of what's reasonable and not reasonable! Chaos Number 916! True Nightmare Master Horror Artist Lord Regnes! That should be the correct name." "Impossible! A Chaos Number?! I'd pay you any amount in the world to surrender and give me your numbers!" "Not going to happen you fucking leech. You disgust me with your greed for power, fame, and money. The only thing I will give you is being sent to a desert island instead of being cut at by me with my sword which would lead to a very painful death. Now then, I'm not done just yet! Witness the newest form of Regnes! I activate the spell card Super Special Summon! This card lets me evolve a extra deck monster on my field that requires a monster with a similar name to be summoned one more time. I just need to select an extra deck monster with the monster on my field as a required material! Let the power of chaos combined with the power of technology and a very artistic overlay network!" Billy Rich shivers in fear as Adam continues chanting: "Transcend all previous limits to your form and abilities! Witness as the possibilities reach infinity and bring on a new world of terror! Chaos Xyz evolution! A being of great power and a look that can instantly leave you paralyzed in fear now approaches from the depths of the Overlay Network! Come forth Chaos Number 916: Manically Terrifying Nightmare Horror Artist Lord Regnes!"
The new form of Regnes appears with a jaw dropping 4000 attack points. "Before you can express how scared you are again, I will now activate an effect! By using 3 overlay units and sending all Xyz monsters in my extra deck to my graveyard, I can banish all cards on your field! And to make matters worse for you, I can then special summon any monsters you controlled before they were banished onto my field! And if any are Xyz monsters, they gain an overlay unit automatically! Plus, Regnes gains 500 attack points for every card banished till the end of my turn! This cannot be stopped!" The rich man who is ginger haired, blue eyed, elderly, and white skinned cowers in fear but refuses to surrender, seeing surrender as scummy but not viewing getting crushed in the same light. He loses all cards on his field and Adam gains control over Number 422: Banko, The King Of Mischief. "You managed to keep all of your 8000 life points but that doesn't matter anymore. Regnes gains 1500 attack points. Your number only has 2000 but I can fix that. I have hunted down over 20 numbers from people who abused their power because the numbers intensified their desires. During such, I have picked up the ability to evolve numbers I get to be on my side of the field. I just need to focus. Using the inner desires I refuse to carry out, I have all I need to do this! I deeply dislike you and wish for you to be removed from your wealth and society permanently."
Adam concentrates "There we go. You might even see a dark aura around me. I once again use chaos to open a unique overlay network! Now go in there and evolve, Number 422! Chaos Xyz evolution! Become what was thought unthinkable, be more than who you were and bring upon this wretched world a veil of chaotic justice against those who exploit others. I summon Chaos Number 422: Dark Banko, The God Of Mischief! I activate Dark Banko's ability. By using 1 overlay unit, effects from your hand or graveyard won't work till my turn ends! Now then, Dark Banko, attack Billy with Cruel Joke and Regnes, attack him too but with Fear Pounding!" Billy is knocked back by the attacks and Adam wins. They then invoke the power of Regnes by placing him on their right palm to take Banko out of Billy's soul. Banko returned to Billy after the duel so this was necessary. Adam then takes Billy's deck and sends him off to a deserted island without his money, never to be seen again. "So that takes care of the person who started the fire at the entrance to the queue line of The Ray Of Hope. *pockets Banko and Dark Banko* Now to help the people of this world put out the fire. I'm coming, all of you!" Adam puts a ninja style face mask and safety goggles on before teleporting to the station of the coaster. Amelia recognizes them: "I remember you! You were that so called visitor from another dimension!" "Yes. But now is not the time. We have a fire to extinguish. I don't need to get you water to help you. Just keep doing what you are doing and don't watch me till you run out of water assuming you do."
Adam spins as fast as possible while holding out their sword and yelling: "Not even vicious flames like these can resist this kind of power! Super Duper Spin Slash! I will use the force generated by this attack to draw as much of the flames I can as possible without risking my life too much. This coaster is not just your area's hope but your world's hope too! It must not fall to the hands of the greedy! Not now, not ever!" At the same time, Amelia and Iggy are given water buckets so quickly thanks to a chain of people that they just can't stop. About 15% of the fire is drawn in by Adam's special move before they get a serious look: "Quantum Leap! Transport me to the nearest pool of water immediately! I will not let this coaster fall, it's a well crafted and thrilling work of art that must be defended! Haaaaa!" The non binary and gay artistic duelist and warrior is instantly transported to the nearby water slide pool. Adam acts fast to put out all the fire that is spinning with them like a miniature tornado. They do that again 2 more times while Amelia and Iggy finish using water buckets to put out the rest. Amelia breathes a sigh of relief before glancing at Adam: "Now that we're done, you have a lot of explaining to do. And thank you for helping us!" "It's no problem, I'm willing to risk my life as long as I do it with intellect and the knowledge that I might die fighting for whatever or whomever I'm trying to save! I've been known by several names like Throne Master and Sir Poopsalot. Just call me Adam. I'm a non binary gay artist, furry, writer, warrior, rocker, punk, metalhead, and anarcho-socialist." "Nice to properly meet you. Why and how did you help us?"
"That special card you have right there as you know came here after an epic battle. That battle's result saved all of existence from darkness and an evil robotic far future version of one of my many friends. I, with a secret organization/collective, am trying to gather hundreds of number cards that are scattered throughout existence. It turns out this universe has 3 of them. The person responsible for setting this ride's queue and entrance on fire was none other than Billy Richman. I dug up information about him, a secret ruthless wealthy man who helped control this Earth before 2008. I have no pity for him. He's on a deserted island now." Iggy widens his eyes in shock at this while the people not part of the main group went elsewhere to get others to help rebuild: "Seriously?! That's crazy!" "I agree. It's nuts. I'll fill you in more later if you choose to hang with me for a while. I invite all 4 of you to be representatives of this Earth in the secret BRAINS Collective. We are a leaderless collective organized into smaller groups through all of existence trying to secretly defend it and gather back the number cards. As you can see, those cards can do lots of damage in the wrong hands. This timeline you live in should not exist but 2 numbers practically willed it into existence. My counterpart in this universe is dead unfortunately. It's sad when someone dies so young. Btw, would you like some help from BRAINS to repair this coaster. We can fix it in minutes easily." The 4 accept Adam's invite and offer to help.
20 minutes later, Adam and other BRAINS members help rebuild and the coaster is able to be reopened later. Those other members return but Adam stays: "You 4, as recruits of BRAINS, you will have to be prepared to be tested on your skills and to learn new ones as well. Iggy, I'm well aware you and your mother are androids. I'm glad to know that, with your abilities and the help of your friends, you can make this world a better world than it was before WW3 happened. Plus if you accept being trained, we can teach you so many things. I'm an expert of sorts in writing, sword fighting, and cartoon art among other things. Would you like to go to lunch somewhere? My treat. Perhaps I should take you to the theme park in Minecraftia I put my heart and soul into, there's plenty of restaurants there." Iggy gives a thumbs up as do the others. "Great! Do you want to go eat elsewhere?" They shrug, not caring where they eat in the slightest. "Okay, just touch me and I will get us to lunch right away. Quantum Leap! Transport us to Twisted Land's Loco Bueno restaurant!" A few seconds later, Amelia, Iggy, Jenny, and Katsumi look around the restaurant they are now in with Adam in awe. Iggy asks Adam: "Did you make this?" "Yes, yes I did! Funny to think we all had to be focused and serious, risking our lives even to stop that fire. Here in Twisted Land, issues like that rarely ever happen. I would have us be here in this park for hours but we have to do an induction thing at the main base of the BRAINS Collective after this. But before that, you have to help officially reopen The Ray Of Hope. All of you are important to its story after all." They all nod and for the next hour, everyone enjoys the service and food provided to them from Twisted Land workers from the Mex region of Minecraftia. Or rather this universe's Minecraftia. The Mex region is basically Minecraftia's version of Mexico.
Adam brings them all back to The Ray Of Hope which has a top speed of 69 MPH, length of 5,762 feet and highest drop of 125 feet. Hours after they all hear the cheers of a small crowd, the induction and introductions to BRAINS are complete. Iggy and the others are dropped off at their homes by Adam who warmly waves goodbye to return to training in Miitopia having explained that in their time, the year is 2022 instead of 2016. Iggy is delighted about the day: "Mom! That was the best day ever! Thank you for coming with me! It's more fun when I get to do things with you and my friends!" Amelia grins: "Of course sweetie. Know that I'm always here for you! You're the son I never thought I'd have! Tomorrow, we both start training to better defend what gives us hope. Would you like to play a board game with me or read a book before dinner time?" "Playing a board game with you would be amazing, mom!" "I thought you'd say that! Tonight, I'm going to make a chili spaghetti 3-way and some cake! I've been saving the ingredients for a special day like today! I would have done this for your birthday in a few weeks but this day was so important I just had to change my plans." The mother and son play, eat, and talk happily. Then they head to bed knowing that today was incredible and quite dangerous!
Outro: I hope you liked that a lot! This is just the first of other side adventures you will be able to read about through this collection of adventures! This isn't just a rewriting of that first writing piece of fiction I made. It's a retelling of it complete with far more detail. And that's what's beautiful about it! The best part is I managed to make it all canon to this long series of stories! You will see a lot more of Twisted Land through other short stories published. That's all I have, bye bye!
