Chapter 6
We followed the robot into the hall of mirrors and stayed out of sight from both him and Amy until, eventually, the two of them exited the park. And when we caught up, we saw that Zero grabbed Amy and the Flicky. Maria was shocked at how rough the robot was being, but we knew we had to stay quiet as we chased them through the train station's tunnel from a safe distance, us then seeing that Sonic noticed Amy getting carried by Zero, but not us. We continued to chase the robot until we got to the Mystic Ruins, where the Egg Carrier was already high in the sky.
"Let me go, you bucket of bolts!" Amy exclaimed as I then led Maria over to the robot and she then spoke to me.
"Don't worry. If it tries to escape via the air, I have the power of flight," she said, me smirking at that. We then went to the duo and got their attention... via me throwing a rock at the robot.
"HEY! Let her go right now, or you're gonna get a load of pain!" I shouted, the robot simply letting out an antenna... and then the tractor beam was emitted from the Egg Carrier, sending Zero and his captives into the sky.
"Dangit! I gotta cut 'em off!" shouted the voice of Sonic as he rushed down towards the mountain areas, completely oblivious to me and Maria.
"Who was that?" Maria asked in confusion.
"Focus, we need to get to flying, Maria!" I said, her nodding as she then proceeded to do something surprising. Her feet flipped out of her ankles like a lid to a garbage can and she then immediately started to hover in the air. I then held onto Maria as tight as I could as she flew both of us into the sky at very fast speeds! I felt very scared during the experience, but I kept a firm grip on Maria before we then finally landed on the top-most part of the Egg Carrier.
"Whew... that was quite a ride..." I sighed in relief, me then feeling a bit of movement in my chest, me smirking as I petted my little Chao baby, who looked like she was awake now.
"What's in your chest?" Maria asked.
"A little baby Chao that I hatched," I smirked as I held it out and Maria smiled at it.
"A Chao? That's pretty cool... so what's its name?"
"Y'know... I didn't think about that yet... how about Lily? I found her egg on a lily pad after all," I smirked. And Lily then proceeded to giggle at the name.
"Lily, chao chao!" she smiled, making me feel like I was a mother hearing her baby speak some words. We then went to the insides of the ship via an... unorthodox method. What was the method? Me slamming my foot into the hull hard enough to open up a hole big enough for us to jump inside of.
"Are you showing off?" Maria asked, me smirking at her.
"Maybe I'm doing it for the little one... or to impress a certain someone," I said, Maria smirking at me.
"I'm 30 years older than you at the least, I can't age a day, and we're the same gender. Why are you hoping to impress me?" Maria asked, me smirking at her response as we then went inside of the hole and found we were in the area closest to the Hot Shelter's entrance.
"Who cares? I'd rather be with a human than a Mobian... I may be part Mobian right now, but it's completely involuntary. And as for the gender difference, I don't know about this world's ethics, but in my world, gender usually doesn't matter to most people in relationships. I prefer humans of both sexes, but you and Eggman are two of the only humans in the series that matter," I said, Maria sighing at that.
"Okay. I'll 'date' you, but only on one condition. When Shadow is released in the future, you need to introduce me to him in person so I can stop his plans. Got it?" she said, me nodding.
"I promise. Now let's find the pink hedgehog," I smiled as we went through the door to the jail and soon found Amy and her Flicky... getting released from their jail cell by none other than E-102 Gamma.
"Huh? W-Who are you two?" Amy asked when she saw us. Gamma looked more confused than anything else... though it was hard to tell with the unchanging face of metal.
"The rescue team, duh. Mainly because of something that the bird has. Something that Eggman wants to rule the world," I said, Amy holding the bird tight in defense.
"I'm not handing him over to a couple strangers like you!" Amy said as I then groaned.
"Look, the item is a Chaos Emerald. That's the only thing we need, but we also wanted to save you when the robot caught you," I said, Amy then frowning and searching the bird gently... before finding the emerald on the back of the bird's pendant, which is then that we saw that it was the cyan emerald (fancy word for light blue).
"Okay, I believe you now... let's get out of here before Eggman sends his robots to get us... thanks again, mister robot, for rescuing us," Amy said as I then looked to the right... and saw that there was another Chao egg within. I simply pushed the button to open the cage and got the egg in my grasp. This one was lime green with bright blue flowers on it.
"Is that... a Chao egg? Why would Eggman have one locked in a cage?" Maria asked as we then left the room. And when we did, we proceeded to go through to where the hole was above us, Maria using her booster feet to get Amy up first and then myself. As for my response?
"I don't know, but I think it might have to do with Chaos," I said.
"Chaos? What's that?" Amy asked in confusion as we finally got to the top of the ship... and I then held the emerald in hand and felt the power flow within me... and this time? I could feel... that Amy was confused... Maria was concerned... and I also felt some nearby emotions of bravery, skittishness, and deviousness. It allowed me to sense emotions!
"Chaos is a creature attuned with the Chaos Emeralds. She gains power with each emerald she gets. And if she gets all 7, she's hoping to destroy the world for what happened to her Chao children over a thousand years ago," I said. And after I said that?
"Now, isn't that precious?!" I heard Eggman's voice before I could see him. And then, I gasped as I got a large claw around my stomach and I got lifted into the air by Eggman's stupid Eggmobile!
"Hey! Let me go right now! I'm warning you, I know kung-fu!" I shouted at Eggman as he then squeezed me further with the claw, me gasping as I felt the air leave my body.
"Give me the emerald and I'll let you go," he said... I had to comply... because if he squeezed me any further, then he'd be squeezing the egg and Lily as well. I simply gave him the emerald and he then let me go, me then breathing in and out as Eggman then spoke into an intercom.
"GAMMA!" he shouted as the robot soon appeared from behind us... at the exact time that Sonic and Tails arrived.
"What is your wish, master Robotonik?" he asked... exactly like the subtitles in the game.
"Take care of these intruders while I give this emerald to Chaos," he said as he then zoomed off towards the generator platform, me looking at Gamma and him arming his gun, me then holding my hands in the air.
"Please don't, mister Gamma. You obviously have good in you if you were willing to release Amy... please, don't listen to the words of a villain," I asked, pleading to him with fear on my face. And afterwards, Gamma lowered his gun arm and looked at me specifically.
"Very well..." he said, me sighing in relief... but then, we felt the ship start to shudder, me hearing a small boom from the left side with my big ears. It was the engine.
"The engine got busted! Sonic, what'd you do?" I asked, him then frowning.
"I had to fight my way here by blowing up a lot of cannons," he said, me looking at Amy, Tails and Maria with seriousness.
"Tails, you take Amy and her bird friend to the ground! Maria and Sonic, let's chase after Eggman! We need to stop him here and now before anything more can happen," I said, them nodding as we then proceeded to get going... but not before I looked at Gamma. "As for you, Gamma. Eggman isn't the one to work for. Especially when he kidnaps girls and lies to everyone, including his own creations," I said, Gamma simply nodding as he then jumped off the edge and proceeded to hover his way to the ground.
After this, Maria had Sonic and I hold onto her as we then went to the center arena to see Chaos turn into her 6th form and to see Big the Cat looking scared as Froggy was now trapped inside of Chaos.
"Hey! Chaos!" I shouted, getting her attention.
"What do you want?" she asked with a growl. I simply produced the green egg from my bra... and when I did, Chaos then gasped at it. "Y-You... saved it..." she said, me then looking at her in confusion.
"Let me guess. Eggman blackmailed you into teamwork because he held this egg captive, huh?" I asked. Mainly because I could feel relief and joy within Chaos... even if it were smaller than the anger she felt. Anger towards Eggman. But before she could respond?
"Chaos! Kill them right now!" Eggman shouted. But Chaos didn't listen. She simply sent out a watery tendril from her mouth to give Froggy to Big, and then she glared at Eggman. And what happened after? She proceeded to leap towards him and try to attack him! But he was prepared with the freeze bombs that he used to make Chaos frozen. And afterwards, he then slammed a large Sonic 1 wrecking ball into her body, making her body break into pieces and for all 6 of her Chaos Emeralds to fly out of her! I then rushed in and collected them before Eggman could grab them as I noted that Chaos was still around... via water vapor.
"I still want those emeralds... but not to destroy the world... just to destroy this madman," Chaos said, me nodding at her as I then felt the power of the purple Chaos Emerald that Froggy had... and I felt like I was even stronger... but also... angrier?
"Rgh... need to keep my anger in check with this purple one... must be darkness," I groaned as I then noted that Eggman had flew the coop, me then feeling the ship starting to lose more and more altitude!
"Maria, time to abandon ship! Sonic, hop on!" I said, him nodding as he and I then latched onto Maria... and I noted that Knuckles and Big were flying off the ship via dreadlock hovering and the Tornado respectively. "Whew... everyone escaped..." I sighed in relief, me then placing the emeralds in my pockets for safekeeping. And we noted that Eggman was going towards the Final Egg as opposed to Station Square.
"There's the egghead! Let's go and make some omelets!" I shouted, Maria giggling at my joke.
"I thought you didn't want to get on Eggman's bad side with egg jokes?" Sonic asked me as I simply gave him a playful glare.
"Only if he's out of earshot," I smirked at him.
"What about your female Echidna friend? Should we go check on her?" Maria asked, me smiling at her.
"How about you go do that? You do work at the hotel, after all," I smiled. Maria smirked at me afterwards.
"Very well. I'll tell her that you sent me and that you got 6 emeralds from Chaos," she said, me nodding at her. And afterwards, she then let me and Sonic down in the jungle area of the Mystic Ruins and then jetted off into the distance.
"So, I have a question. Who was that and why can she fly?" Sonic asked.
"A girl that was turned into a robot. And no, not because of Eggman or for evil purposes. Just to save her life from a deadly disease and gunshot combo," I said, him frowning and tilting his head. "I'd love to tell you more, but you'd need to ask her yourself. She's in the Witness Protection Program for her own safety."
"Okay, okay, I got it. Now how about you help me get back at Eggman?" Sonic asked, me nodding at his notion. I just had to hope that Chaos didn't resort to flooding Station Square to get vengeance at Eggman... and that my new egg would hatch into another adorable Chao.
