Catch-22: The Rage
By: M14Mouse
Summary: Goro thought that he had the game figured out. He was wrong.
Disclaimer: Don't own them.
Anger is a killing thing: it kills the man who angers, for each rage leaves him less than he had been before - it takes something from him. Louis L'Amour
Goro thought that he had the game figured out. He predicted their movements down to the very "T".
It didn't help that they clearly announced every target on that website of theirs. How stupid can they be?
It didn't help that he could easily associate every new member of their little group with their target.
It didn't help that their little group would gather in the same places like a herd of sheep. Although, he did applaud them for changing their location from time to time.
But…their latest base has seemed to vanish off his radar at the moment.
No matter…he will always find them later.
Of course, there were moments that they did beat his expectations like with the Majed. Honestly, he thought that the fake Majed would be their downfall. They had no one in their group with hacking skills. He was almost impressed that they were able to find one in a short amount of time and become a member of their little group.
He could only allow it to happen once.
He can't have too many surprises. It was bad for his plans after all.
He couldn't let them run off the script.
So, he dropped breadcrumbs here and there. He made sure to show up in just the right places. He made sure to push the right players into place.
It was good to be king of the board and it was good to see the players dance to his tune.
Of course, that was before Yu joined their little group.
Of course, he knew the others called him Sensei like he was their teacher. He watched some of their training sessions and he had to say that he did see some improvement.
Nothing worrying because they still followed his plan except Yu.
First off, he did notice that Yu wasn't like them at all.
He didn't go around showing "Persona!" or some shit like that. He hit his tip of cane on the ground and his persona rose from the shadows like some type of ghost. He didn't run or scream when he saw a shadow.
Yu was calm and cool to the point that almost felt that he had done this before. Of course, he looked into his background. He was almost boring except for two incidents. One involving his uncle's partner and the other involving a kidnapping. Neither incident involved the cognitive world. So, he brushed it off.
He has no idea how to place him on the board. There is also the problem of him being in charge of a major company.
Yu wasn't like Ren…the king on the other side of the board. He wasn't even a rook, bishop, or even a pawn. He was unknown. He didn't follow any of those rules. In fact, if he was right, he knew that there were other players on the board as well.
Yu was a dangerous player.
It didn't help that he was aware of him.
Often, Yu traveled down in Mementos without the others. He was curious to see where he was going and followed him quite a few times. Oftentimes, he lost him. Right before he disappeared, he would look over his shoulder and stare in his direction.
Getting rid of him would be…difficult but not impossible.
It would also bring awareness to his plans that he isn't quite ready for.
As long as everything went according to plan, he had nothing to worry about.
He was wrong.
Okumura was supposed to be the crowning piece of their downfall. His last little push toward the end game.
Yu didn't run off like the others did. He said something interesting….
"…. I will make sure that his shadow returns to his body. If a shadow is injury outside of its host, it could do irreparable damage to the host…"
He knew a lot more than what he let on. He watched as Yu talked to Okumura. He needed to make a move. So, he drew his gun to end it before Okumura said something.
Instantly, Yu summoned his persona to the surface. He slammed the tip of his cane into the ground and roots shot out from the ground to act as a shield.
His bullet bounced right off.
It was only for a moment but slowly, the roots back into the ground. Yu stared in his direction and spoke.
"There are two ways that we can handle this situation. One, we can walk away and leave this fight for another day. Two, we can fight right here and now. The choice is yours."
He felt a moment of rage. Yu thinks that he could take him! HA! How dare he!
He wanted to rage and fight right there. He could take him. He could murder him.
Then his common sense kicked in. The palace was falling apart and there was no time. Yu wasn't moving from his spot. He was waiting for him to make the next move.
He snarled as he disappeared.
Yes, the next time that they meet, he would pay. Right now, he needs to prepare for Plan B.
After all, he wouldn't be king if he didn't have a backup plan.

Next Chapter: The People In The Room
A/N: So much ego and rage in that guy. XD I had to do his pov. Oh, Goro…you are in for such surprise later. Currently, I'm writing the dance thing chapter. (No one pays Yu enough.) It is a fun little chapter. Yes, I saved Haru's dad at least for now. Who knows what will happen? Anyway, thanks for the wonderful reviews, kudos, favorites, etc. Read and Review if you wish.
