Disclaimer: Don't own them.
Truth is harder to swallow than lies.-Yu
Well…he doesn't scream creepy doctor.
Instantly, Yu pushed the girl behind him. He didn't move for his sword. Not yet. Carefully, he looked over at the doctor. Veles was right. He didn't look like a creepy doctor. He almost looked normal in comparison to the other palace rulers. His brown hair was slick back and he wore white doctor jacket, pants, and casual shoes. The doctor adjusted his glasses to get a look at him.
He knew enough to know that appearances are deceiving.
"Ah, Yoshizawa-san, are you okay? Did this man do anything to you?" The doctor said softly.
"No-no….he was very nice and helped me. I…." Yoshizawa-san said nervously.
"Oh, I don't think that I helped that much. She merely lost her way. I wouldn't be a good teacher if I didn't guide her," He said mildly.
The doctor stared at him.
"Th-that is very kind of you, Mister…."
"You may call me Sensei until the time warrants a name," He said with a bow.
"You are a little young to be a teacher," the doctor said as he adjusted his glasses.
"You are a little young to be a doctor but who am I to judge?"
He could hear some of his personas snickering.
So, ten bucks says he punched him.
Of course, he is.
The doctor chuckled softly.
"True. I do look young. I'm curious how you got inside."
He smiled softly.
"Like everyone, there is a door."
Portal.
"A door? You didn't say anything or do anything?"
"No. Oh, I thought to myself, not again," He said.
"You done this before?" The doctor said in confusion.
"Yes but with a tv."
"A tv?" Yoshizawa-san said behind him.
"There isn't a door in a tv," The doctor said with a nervous chuckle.
"Oh? Have you tried it? It often feels like water without getting wet."
Laddie, I think that you are going to make the doctor's head explode.
Truth is harder to swallow than lies.
Aye.
It often confused them. Everyone expects a lie and never the truth.
The duo stared at him then the doctor scratched behind his head.
"You are a strange one," The doctor said.
"I get that a lot. So…this place is a hospital?" He said as he waved his hand at their surroundings.
"Yes, it is. It is the best place for intakes and such. I tried to make it not so bleak. That does scare people away."
Intakes?
That actually explains a few things.
Really? Because that explains nothing to me, laddie.
"And what are you examining?"
"What makes people happy. So, they would live without pain,"
…
"How does that work?" He asked casually.
"My staff perform a very detailed interview of each individual to gauge their likes, their dislikes, what makes them happy, what would cause them stress, etc. I want everything to be perfect."
"A noble idea but it is a bit flawed."
The doctor frowned.
"Oh, how so?"
"Everyone has a different view of happiness. For example, you have a craving to harm others and that is their form of happiness. How do you intend to change that?"
"I wouldn't allow people to harm others," The doctor said with determination.
"Again, a noble idea but even you get into the simple idea of going away to college. The parents don't want the child to go to a particular college but the child gets in and wants to go. Whom happiness do you take?"
"Just some minor adjustments and everyone will be happy."
This guy has lost it.
"You didn't answer my question."
"I can't really answer it. That is what the intakes are for," The doctor said with a nod.
"Doctor…." Yoshizawa-san said as she struggled to get to her feet.
He could slowly hear the horror creep into her voice.
The doctor smiled softly.
"It was all thanks to you. I was able to help you and now, I'm able to help others."
The worst of gods are ones with good intentions.
You speak from experience, laddie.
He grabbed her before she could fall.
"You need to rest. My staff will take you somewhere to relax," The doctor said as he clapped his hands. Two shadows appeared beside the doctor. He turned his attention to her.
"It is your choice," He said softly to her.
"I…I want to go with him for now," She said.
He smiled gently then pulled out a receipt. Quickly, he folded it into a tiny paper crane.
"For you. For luck and for us to meet again," He said as he handed it to her.
Her eyes widened slightly then her face turned red.
"Thank you," She said softly as she took the crane from his hand.
He turned his attention back to the pair of shadows dressed in lab coats. He grabbed the arm of one of the shadows and pressed close against him. Quickly, he slipped one of his cards into its coat pocket.
"Treat her well."
"Of…of course, sir." The shadow said.
Quickly, the trio disappeared into the shadows.
"I'm surprised that you didn't stop her," The doctor said.
"I'm a believer of choice even if I don't believe it is a good one. It was her choice to stay," He said with a shrug.
"Of course, she wanted to stay. She wants to be her sister."
"Yes and no. Parts of her do but I think other parts are grieving and guilt from her sister and you."
The doctor blinked in surprise.
"I noticed that you two were close. You have a sense of familiarity with her. After all, you did change her cognition. I think that she is very graceful but very torn."
The doctor jolted and then adjusted his glasses.
"You are awfully well educated on this matter. You don't look like a thief. So who are you?"
Why is that?
Veles and I have been working on a few things. This is one of them.
"Perhaps, I don't plan to steal anything. Who am I? I don't think that actually matters. The fact of the matter is that your palace runs deep. Enough to affect this world and the other. Oh and your reasoning is utter bullshit. I thought that I should add that…just in case."
"You don't understand. No one understands. Not you or Ren. At least he is willing to see the world. Of course, Akechi-san might cause some problems. If he will just step aside….it will work out fine. His friends will be happy and he will be happy. I know…I know...you need to see! Once you see, you will understand!"
Laddie…he is able to kick us….
The doctor waved his hand. In a flash of light, he was outside of…a stadium?
Jerk. He kicked us out.
And Master didn't get to punch him.
Maybe next time….
He adjusted his jacket and stared at his surroundings. It looked normal but it felt off. The air was electrifying with some unknown energy.
Well…this place is creepy.
I can imagine that it will be interesting once I start talking to others.
You are going to talk to your students?
Of course.
…
…..
You are going to troll them, aren't you?
I'm going to see how this world is different from mine. And yes…maybe troll them a little.
