Catch-22: The Translation, Please?

It caught Yu off guard when he heard his voice echo in his head.

Oracle….Skull…Joker….Queen…Mona…Noir…Fox?

The entire group froze in its tracks.

"Not It!" Ryuji shouted.

"Me either!" Ann added.

"I don't know what you are saying not it for but count me in. Not it!" Junpei added.

"For the record, Sensei, we didn't do anything," Morgana added.

"It was the portal's fault. It kind of just appeared," Haru added.

"And we ended up in this strange movie type world…or is it worlds? Anyway, we were trapped here with a few others. Although, we believe that we have the last key soon so that we can get out of here."

"A lot of people," Ken mumbled.

"Of course, that is a lot more information and story to go over. I think that it is better if we explain when we are together again, Sensei" Makoto added.

Of course.

That was kind of weird. Him hearing himself in his own head. Hmm…would this be thought of talking to oneself? Even if this self is from the future.

"Shit…they weren't lying when they said that you were their Sensei. Wait…are you our Sensei now?" Chie said in a panic.

"Crap. Apparently, in the future you are a badass," Kanji said.

"Of course, he is! He is Sensei!" Teddie said as he stomped his feet.

"I'm so excited to meeting future you," Yukiko said to him.

"So, am I," He replied.

"I wonder if you look any different," Natoto asked.

"Hmm…you are slightly taller…I think. Oh, your hair is longer," Yusuke said as he looked at him over.

"Don't forget the suits," Ryuji added.

"I think that has to do with his job more than us," Makoto said.

He glanced over when he felt Ren staring at him. When they first met, Ren seemed upset about something. He said that he was never told that he was a wild card.

He wondered why. It was exciting to meet another wild card. As much as he loved his friends, there is a sense of understanding…a connection between them.

If the future self didn't tell him, there must be a reason.

A very good reason.

"Still…his outfit looks just as uncomfortable as Crow's outfit. No offense, Crow, but I'm not sure how you can move around in that thing," Ryuji said.

"It isn't that uncomfortable. In fact, it is quite easy to fight in," Akechi said.

Ryuji was able to say something else before he paused.

"Shit. One of us needs to go back to hide the junk food," Ryuji said.

"Why do we need to hide the junk food?" Minato asked.

"I don't think that we ate that much of it," Yukari said.

Junpei and Ryuji gave each other a look.

"Heh…he…" Junpei said as he rubbed the back of his neck.

"Is Sensei going to be mad about junk food?" Fuuka asked.

"Oh, no. Just disappointed. When Ryuji eats and drinks a lot of energy drinks, it makes him a little….," Ann said with a wave.

"Like a cat having the zoomies. Great for battles but not so great after..," Morgana added.

"HEY! I'm not that bad!" Ryuji said.

"Dude, you have like 10 of what Theo made," Junpei added.

"Crap…"

"He is just going to make you eat some real food and rest your knee," Makoto said to Ryuji.

"Sensei's food is so good. You are in for a treat," Haru said happily.

"I can attest that Yu's food is excellent," Akechi added.

"Man, when Souji and Sensei are cooking…urgh…it is so goooooood…" Futaba said.

"I can imagine if we could fit Ren in there. It would be a feast," Yusuke added.

"You cook too?" Kotone asked.

"Yup, our man, Joker, can cook too," Ryuji said excitedly.

"You sound like a good Sensei," Yukiko mumbled to him.

"I know," He mumbled back.

"He is the best. He makes sure that we're alright. He makes sure that we have equipment and supplies. Oh, he scares away creepy photographers," Ann said.

"Yes, he did the same to some investors at one of my father's board meetings," Haru added.

"I have no idea what he said to the track team but I got letters," Ryuji said.

"He also has been terrifying my social links," Ren mumbled.

"What the hell did you grow up to be?" Yosuke shouted in a panic.

According to Oracle, a badass. I rather like being called Sensei.

The entire group just stopped in their tracks. Futaba started crackling in their ears. Rise and Fuuka let out a giggle.

"You…you heard all of that?" Ryuji said with a pale face.

Yes.

"Fuck…"

"How…I mean…Fuck…this sucks so badly," Yosuke said sadly.

"I mean…I wouldn't be surprised. We are being a little loud," He said to the group.

Everyone turned to him.

What?

I would like to note that a FOE is approaching your location. The ones that look like little dwarfs with very sharp weapons? That are sort of cute in a way.

"Crap…I thought that we dodge those things," Kanji said.

I could drop them somewhere. Not sure where they will end up since it doesn't feel like the cognitive world.

"Where do the shadows normally go?" Akechi asked.

Into hell.

There was another long moment.

"Ok…okay then," Yosuke stumbled out.

"I can't wait to train with him," Akihiko said eagerly.

Shinjiro let out a suffering sigh.

"I think that it is worth investigating," He said.

And he kind of wants to see where things go.

"YES!" Futaba shouted.

"No dropping things into hell. We need to focus on the approaching FOE," Mitsuru said.

Okay…I just go and talk to them.

"Toothless is going to be so jealous if he adopts another one," Futaba mumbled.

"ARE YOU CRAZY!?" Yosuke shouted.

"Not really. I think that it is a good idea. I seem to know what I'm doing," He remarked.

"Guys! Look out!" Rise shouted.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the FOE run toward them with the knives, guns, and other creativity weapons. He started to feel the ground shake and roots ripped out of the ground. The little dwarfs got wrapped in the roots.

One of the main dwarfs made a grumbling noise.

"Not that isn't very nice," His older self said mildly as he appeared into view.

Grumble.

"Or wise," His older self said as he lowered his glasses.

He looked over his future self-appearance. He liked it.

The dwarf grumbles again.

"Again. That is almost dangerous. They might not have the experience to handle you but I do. I rather not fight right now. So, how about we set up a trade?"

Grumble?

"I don't have much but I do have some lollipops."

GRUMBLE!

"Oh, you like those?"

Grumble.

"I don't have that many. How about 1 each?"

Grumble!

"Okay, two each and leave your weapons."

GRUMBLE!

"I could just drop you somewhere."

….

"You can talk about it among yourselves if you want."

The little dwarfs started grumbling among themselves.

"He is like the wise teacher in the movies. I wish that he was my teacher," Hikari said in awe.

"He is not like any teachers that we had. He is awesome," Ann said with a laugh.

The dwarfs stopped talking among themselves then nodded.

It was a quick exchange of weapons and candy. Few moments later, the dwarfs walked away with lollipops in their hands and weapons on his older self's feet. He glanced over his friends to gauge their reactions. It was a mixture of awe and confusion except for Akechi and the thieves. The thieves look like that this happens a lot. Akechi looked like he found the answer to something.

Hmm…maybe he asked about it later.

"SENSEI! You're okay!" Haru shouted as she rushed over and hugged him. The other thieves followed with their shouts of happiness and questions.

"Where have you been?"

"What happened to you?"

"You look like you fought a bear."

"Sensei, you wouldn't believe where we have been."

"Man…you grew up to be so weird," Yosuke said.

"SHHH! Don't say that about Sensei!" Teddie shouted and stomped.

He ignored the talk around him.

"Well…what do you think, partner?" Yosuke asked him.

"I like my hair." He noted.

Yukiko let out a giggle.

"I don't think that I have gotten taller."

"It is the shoes and possibly the hat," His older self answered.

"Hmm…that is a good point. The suit is a nice touch too. The others say that this is how I view my rebellion?" He looked over at himself a few times.

"It is a little bit more complicated than that but yes."

"Huh? Interesting, I thought that it would be something else," He said.

"What do you think it would be?"

"A mob boss. It seemed to be a running joke between everyone. I have no idea why but it amused me."

"It amused him?" Chie mumbled.

"You know…that kind of fits? Sensei is like all behind the scenes…then we need to be scared. He pops up like a boss," Ann said.

"I think that you're right. Sensei can be terrifying," Haru said.

"Scared the shit out of Morgana," Ryuji added.

"HEY! I learned!" Morgana shouted.

"Perhaps, will you change your look? I mean, your outfit seems to connect with your mind. If you…or future you need a new look, couldn't you just change it?" Kanji said.

"Hmm…that is an interesting thought," Akechi said.

"It does seem possible. Interesting thought, Kanji," His future self said with a smile.

Kanji's face turned bright red.

"WHY AREN'T YOU FREAKING OUT MORE?!" Yosuke said.

"Why? There is nothing to freak out about," He said.

"I mean…we do stick our hands into tv sets and go into a different world. The meter for weirdness is kind of high," His future self noted.

"He has a point. There is Teddie," Natoto said.

"Yes, Teddie is definitely weird," Futaba said.

"HEY!"

He turned his attention back to his older self. He frowned slightly as he noticed that he was leaning heavily on his cane.

"You're hurt," He noted.

The chatter stopped for a moment.

"My journey was a little rough to get here and some things didn't go as planned like the landing," His older self said.

Then the chatter came back in full force.

"OMG…SENSEI, We need to get out of this place!"

"Do you need to rest, Sensei?"

"Here, let me help you!"

"Damn, Support Buddy…"

In all honesty, it was the quickest that they ever got to the entrance. Once, there was chaos in theater. People talking over people and running around.

"Where is the first aid kit?"

"Maybe, in the breakroom?"

"We should go and look."

"Poor Senpai! Wait, maybe, the first aid is behind the counter. I should go with you."

"We should go with you?!"

"Somewhere comfortable. There is nowhere comfortable in this place."

"Maybe, we could use the curtains?"

"How does this even work?"

"I don't know. Tear them down?"

"There are more acceptable methods. Come, I will show you."

"We should get some tea."

"I think that the break room has coffee?"

"That stuff tastes like tar unlike Theo…uhhh…how about I ask Theo with you guys?"

"Oh, right. The junk food!"

"SHHH!"

"Sensei already knows."

"How about some real food?"

"Where are we going to get real food?"

"Elizabeth?"

"Uh no."

"Theo only has junk food."

"I know!"

"AOOOHHHH!"

"That is a good idea."

The group seemed to break off and disappeared into their own direction. It was just him and his future self standing there.

"So, does this happen a lot?" He asked.

"Quite. They seem to think that I will be disappointed in them. Rarely, I am disappointed in them. It is quite the opposite. I'm extremely proud of them. Life hasn't been kind to them. And yet….they stand tall," His future self responded fondly.

"I can tell that they respect you…us highly. I didn't see myself grow up to be a Sensei despite what Teddie calls me."

His future self smiled.

"Oh, it isn't too surprising."

"Although, Ren is mad at you."

"My fault. Never explain that I am a Wild Card. I'm under contract not to talk about it. Rather tiresome. I hate the double meaning of it all. I'm doing something about it. I have a few plans in action right now,"

"Sounds very tiresome."

"At least, when it is over, I get a vacation."

Next Chapter: The Next Disaster

A/N: Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone! :D It has begun. The PQ2 arc has started at chapter 100. (If this story lasts another 100, you are allowed to throw something at my head.) While writing has proven interesting and a pain because of amount of people involved, I think that I figure it out (although, I am not happy at the last two chapters that I wrote). So, we shall see. Anyway, thanks for the continuous support, reviews, kudos, etc!
