"Everything's prepared for you to go into heat tonight," Dave told Alex.
Dave already had a heat room installed for Carolyn, but now it was finally being put to use. The heat room hadn't gotten used since Carolyn had died. It had been closed up until now. Dave had made sure the room was aired out since it had been sealed off for a long time and had smelled musty. Now it was ready to be used again.
Supplies had been bought and the old stuff mostly thrown away because it was out of date.
There was water with electrolytes, scentless wipes and snacks.
As for Dave's sons, they were old enough to stay on their own while their father and mother were busy. The triplets were really looking forward to having some siblings and knew to stay out of their way.
The heat room was soundproofed so the triplets wouldn't be hearing anything, no sounds would penetrate.
"Yes, you had the housekeeper pick up extra cases of water and everything else we need," Alex agreed, as she kissed Dave tenderly. "I'm looking forward to you getting me pregnant tonight. It won't be more than a few hours before I go into heat."
"It will only be six months after tonight before our children will be here," Dave said his voice filled with anticipation.
"I'm glad you're looking forward to it so much," Alex told him with a smile kissing his cheek this time. "I'm not looking forward to going through the pain of my heat, but then I never do and at least while I'm pregnant my heats will stop."
"Didn't you have anybody to relieve your heats before we met?" Dave asked.
"Most of the time yeah," Alex answered honestly. "But there were a few times over the years that I wasn't dating anyone when my heat came upon me. Besides, it's not the same thing as having a mate do it for you. I might've had a little affection for those alphas and they for me, but I certainly didn't love them, not like I love you."
"Lucky for me," Dave told her sincerely. "I'm so glad that we met."
"I am too," Alex said, as she walked and cuddled into his arms without reservation.
Dave wasn't jealous at all when Alex talked about her previous relationships, because he know where her affection lay and would always remain. Besides, their kind dated a lot once they were the appropriate age looking for a mate.
Their species both alphas and the omega's dated a great deal until they met someone they could settle down with. It might not always work out for whatever the reason that was, but mostly it did. The females of their kind looked for someone to relieve their heat rather temporarily or permanently. The triplets mother Diana had chosen badly when it came to mating but it did happen. The species had just as many predators and uncaring individuals as humans did.
The triplets were nothing like their birth father, which was a good thing. They were nice, polite, well, mannered and intelligent while the father seemed like the exact opposite. They also cared about others while the father didn't seem to care about anyone except himself. The triplets may very well have turned out differently if they had stayed with their neglectful father for longer, so it was just as well that someone had discovered their situation.
The two sat on the couch in the den and cuddled together talking softly.
The interaction did both of them good and by the time they parted they were both very happy.
"It won't be long now," Alex said looking out the French doors to see that the sun had sunk in the sky to where it was already nearly full dark.
"Here let me fix us a quick dinner. No point of you going into your heat hungry," Dave suggested and Alex nodded.
"Something simple will do," Alex told Dave. "We probably don't have more than an hour or an hour and a half at most before it starts. My heat is hard enough without me being hungry."
"That's what I know as Carolyn was the same way before she died," Dave said simply. "All females of our species are the same when they go into heat unless they've had an operation that prevents that."
"That's what I'm intend to do as soon as we are done having children," Alex said. "So long as that's OK with you that is."
"There's no point of you going through all that pain if we're not gonna have anymore kids," Dave said simply.
"Even if something were to happen to you I doubt very much I'd ever mate again," Alex said.
"That's true," Dave said not upset at all at Alex's statement, as life was dangerous all by itself. Alex was just being realistic as she knew how inherently dangerous just living your life could be. "I could be in a car accident or a drive-by shooting or even something natural like a heart attack or a stroke bad enough that I died from it."
"Let's not talk about it as I don't want anything to happen to you," Alex said, even as she joined Dave in the kitchen and helped him prepare a simple dinner. "I know bad things can happen, but why worry about it? We've only just mated and are going to get me pregnant as soon as I go into heat. This should be a very joyous occasion since both of us have been anticipating getting me pregnant."
"And it is," Dave said, even as he kissed Alex on the lips before he continued preparing a quick dinner for both of them. The two chatted softly as they ate and then immediately headed for the heat room after they washed the dishes and put them in the cabinet.
~~~Dave and Alex~~~
Alex slept like a corpse once Dave carried her to the bed after her heat was over. Dave had done all he could to relieve the pain Alex was in and he thought she had gotten through it much easier then she had before they had mated.
Feeling pretty weak himself from dehydration he drank a whole bottle of water in a few gulps, then took a quick shower and then climbed in the bed beside his mate Alex never stirring. He had no doubt at all that Alex was now pregnant and he could hardly wait to have it confirmed. He didn't even care what sex they were, though he would love some little girls to watch grow up and love as he never had that chance with Carolyn.
Alex and he would just have to be patient and find out what they were having and he doubted Alex cared what sex they were anymore then he did.
It had been an exhausting three days as Alex went through convulsions and hot and cold spells. He had done what he could to relieve her heat and thought he had done a pretty good job.
Dave drifted off to sleep contently.
"How do you feel?" Dave asked soon as he awoke and saw that Alex had awoken as well.
"I feel fine," Alex said automatically then accessed how she really felt. "More than fine actually. Having you there really helped me get through my heat easier than normal. I'll be sore for at least a day or two but that's normal."
"Good, I'm glad," Dave said satisfied. Dave's hand automatically went to her stomach and started to rub gentle circles on it. "I have no doubt you are pregnant after three days of me constantly spurting my seed into into you."
"I believe I am to," Alex agreed, even as she rolled over to kiss Dave on the lips. "I'll buy a pregnancy test sometime in the next week or two as you can't tell this soon, but considering how we went at it doing my heat it's a sure thing that I am now carrying our children. I wouldn't be surprised if you spurted your seen into me 30 or 40 times in those three days.
"It was my pleasure sweetheart," Dave said as he ran a gentle hand through Alex's sweat soaked hair. "It is my duty to help you with your heat as well as my pleasure I promise you. I did the same with Carolyn before she died. It was just an unfortunate circumstance that killed her along with my twin daughters."
"It was a tragedy, no doubt about it," Alex agreed. "It happens, but that doesn't make it any less of a tragedy.
"Absolutely true," Dave said, even as he sat up in the bed. "I'm just going to the restroom and I'll be right back."
"Now that you mention that I need to go too," Alex said realizing how badly she needed to pee all of a sudden.
"I won't be long," Dave promised, as he got up and headed for the bathroom so he could pee and then Alex could go.
It was only a couple of minutes later that Dave emerged from the bathroom and Alex who had already gotten up from the bed hurried in so she could release her overfull bladder.
"That's much better," Alex said when she had washed her hands and emerged from the bathroom. "I no longer feel like my bladder is about to burst."
The relief in her voice was obvious to Dave.
"So food?" Dave inquired. "It is around dinnertime."
"That sounds good," Alex said, even as her stomach growled. "I'm soon going to be eating for at least three and possibly four."
"I'll make sure the housekeeper keeps everything well-stocked," Dave replied. "Especially for those middle of the night binges I know you're going to have."
"I suppose it's time we go down and see the boys," Alex said. "We haven't seen them for four days, as that's how long my heat lasted and then a day to recover from it."
"I'm sure the boys are fine as there's plenty of money for takeout and they know how to cook simple things. I made sure of that so they could take care of themselves and didn't have to eat out all the time when they were out on their own."
"Eating out all the time also isn't very healthy," Alex said. "Sure once in awhile, like once or twice a week, just not every day, much less three times a day."
"They know that, but they're still teenagers," Dave snorted. "It won't hurt them to eat out until they get older anyway."
"I suppose not," Alex said, even though she rubbed her tummy reflectively. "I can't really talk because I used to eat out more than I should just because it was faster than cooking particularly when I had to be in early. I would stop for a danish or a donut and a cup of coffee several times a week. Still, I'm older now and I do try to watch what I eat."
The two of them headed downstairs only to be greeted by the triplets.
"Everything OK," Spencer asked Alex.
"Oh yes everything's fine," Alex told Spencer with a smile. "Be glad you are a man. You and your brothers don't have to worry about going into heat twice a year."
"Anybody want food? I'm going to fix some for Alex," Dave said. "She hasn't really had anything since her heat began other than water and snacks."
"Yeah, I'm pretty hungry," Alex agreed, even as she sat down at the kitchen table while Dave begin preparing a meal.
"That's not surprising as I've read that heat's are tough on the female of our kind," Spencer said.
"And why were you reading up on that kind of thing?" Alex asked Spencer curiously. "You don't even have a girlfriend as far as I know."
"He likes to research everything," Julio put in when Spencer didn't answer.
"I know he doesn't have a girlfriend, as he's too shy to ask out this alpha he likes," Kade added.
"And why haven't I heard about this?" Dave asked from where he was cooking at the stove.
"Because you know how he is dad. He's never going to get mated if he doesn't ask out somebody he likes," Julio said seriously.
Spencer blushed at the conversation topic, even if it was the truth.
"He fears rejection if he does so he says nothing," Kade put in.
"Girls, especially beautiful ones, never notice someone like me," Spencer said in a small voice.
"That's because you don't want to be noticed though Spence," Julio told his brother exasperated. "It's like you have a unnoticeable aura."
"You don't want to be noticed by pretty girls and so you aren't," Alex said.
"As far as I know he's never been out on a date," Dave said as he put a large plate of food before his mate.
"He just doesn't put himself out there to be noticed other than in academics," Julio noted. "Even if the girls do take notice he ignores them as if they don't exist."
"Yeah, our blood father really did a number on him," Kade added as he patted his brother on the shoulder.
"He doesn't think he's worthy of ever finding a mate because of what William Reid did to him. He thinks no one will ever accept him for himself," Julio added.
"I just want to go up to Las Vegas and teach William Reid a lesson," Dave said fiercely looking ready to hurt someone. "He gave you boys all sorts of twisted ideas about how no woman would ever accept you, but Spencer, you're the only one as far as I know, that thinks that. Your brothers don't have that problem. I've tried to convince you it isn't true but something inside you refuses to accept my words, to take them to heart."
Spencer said nothing because he knew that his brothers and adoptive father were right. It was an idea that his blood father had put in his head and every time he tried to get past it he was stopped by the voice of William Reid telling him he was nothing any woman would want. That he was plain, weird and strange and to intelligent for his own good.
"He probably needs to see a psychologist," Alex said speaking for the first time. "As one would help him get past his blood father's words. Help him get confidence in that area of his life. Put his father's ghost to rest."
"It's up to you Spencer," Dave told his son. "If you want to see a psychologist that can be arranged, but since you're nearly 18 I won't force you to see one."
"I'll think about it," Spencer said as he begin to eat his food before it got cold.
"I probably should've thought about sending him to a psychologist years ago but it never occurred to me," Dave admitted feeling guilty.
"That's not how alphas think I know that," Alex told Dave gently. "You didn't meet me until your boys were nearly grown-up and had no one to suggest it that you trusted."
Dave nodded in acknowledgement, because Alex was exactly right it's not how alphas tended to think. But when you had a child who was an omega who had been through a serious trauma it was different. Alphas tended to be very tough minded and almost never needed to see someone like a psychologist.
"So are we getting any siblings?" Julio asked after a rather intense silence.
"Way to change the topic Julio," Alex told the young man with a smile. "As to the answer to that question its to soon to tell, but if I'm not pregnant it's not for lack of trying on your father's part.
"If you're not we'll just have to try again," Dave said with a smirk.
"We won't know for awhile and your father and I will tell you when we're sure that I am," Alex added. "I don't think there's any doubt however, as I'm still relatively young and healthy. We're just gonna have to wait a couple of weeks for confirmation."
The boys nodded looking rather disappointed, but they knew such things took time so they would have to be patient. Getting some new siblings was very exciting for the boys.
