Harry didn't tell the other Auror group about Teddy's ban from the case, but he did tell Hasan. Teddy found this out the hard way when he tried to milk Hasan for any information when they were out on yet another stakeout for one of the senior Auror's cases.
"How did you manage to get yourself kicked off this case, Teddy?" Hasan asked instead of answering Teddy's question. "I thought we were only on the werewolf case because of you."
Teddy's heart rate picked up. "Why would it be because of me?"
Hasan paused for a moment before gesturing towards Teddy. "You know. You're Harry's godson?"
Teddy let out a breath and then feigned outrage. "Really? You're going to pull that on me?"
Hasan shrugged. "The others are convinced that is the only reason we close our cases."
Teddy snorted. "Yeah, Harry does all my work for me."
"If only he did the paperwork," Hasan said slyly. "Then it would actually get done too."
Teddy rolled his eyes. "It eventually gets done."
Hasan smirked and then sobered as he looked out over one of the more disreputable parts of Knockturn Alley. "So, what did you do? You must have really screwed up."
Knowing that it was going to come out anyway, Teddy said, "I asked my Uncle Draco to look at the case files for Lilith and Hermione's cases. Harry didn't know until Draco barged into his office with the findings."
Hasan whistled. "You're lucky you're still an Auror."
Teddy settled back against the wall with his arms crossed. "Harry would never have approved. Besides, it got the job done, didn't it? If Draco is right about Hermione being a werewolf, she can give us a lead on the murderer."
Hasan shrugged noncommittally.
"What," Teddy asked, knowing that Hasan was trying to keep his thoughts to himself. "You haven't minded bending the rules in the past."
"Bending?" Hasan asked with snort. "You straight up shattered them this time around."
Teddy laughed. "Yeah, I suppose I did. What else was I supposed to do, though? Draco was right. The Ministry consultant was useless."
"Maybe talked to me about it?" he said, not completely hiding his tension.
"What would you have done?"
Hasan shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe the same thing as you, but maybe we could have found out a way for the fall out to not be so spectacular."
Teddy snorted. "It really was, wasn't it?" He glanced over towards Hasan's pained face, thinking over his words. "Sorry I didn't say anything."
Hasan's smile was at least part grimace before he turned away again. "Next time, promise you'll tell me."
Teddy hesitated and Hasan's shoulders hunched. Teddy hurried to reassure him. "I trust you, Hasan, I promise. It's just... what about the fall out?"
Hasan turned back to him, eyebrow raised.
"As you said, I'm Harry Potter's godson and child of two martyrs. There is a lot of things that I can wriggle out of that you can't."
Hasan nodded his agreement. "But that doesn't mean you can't at least tell me about it. You don't have carry this all by yourself."
Teddy stared back, considering all the secrets he kept and how much of that was really to protect Hasan and how much might be because Teddy wanted to protect himself. Finally he nodded, unable to actually promise to change but unable to actually deny what Hasan was offering him. Teddy looked out at the night, feeling a little sick with himself.
