Welcome back everyone. Sorry for the long wait, but here is Chapter 2. This chapter will only feature a scene from Frozen and Frozen 2. I'm also thinking of adding HTTYD RTTE in this story. However, I will leave the choice up to you guys. Anyways, on with the story. BTW, this takes place a few years BEFORE Hiccup leaves Berk.
Disclaimer: I don't own HTTYD or Frozen.
Chapter 2: Enchanted Story & Playtime Gone Wrong
It was a peaceful night in the kingdom of Arendelle. In the castle, the two princesses, Anna and Elsa were playing, with the help of Elsa's magic.
"Anna, Elsa." "Bedtime soon," their parents, Agnarr and Iduna, called out.
"Uh oh, the princess is trapped in the snow goblin's evil spell! Quick Elsa, make a prince, a fancy one," Anna acts out as Elsa uses her magic to create a prince. Meanwhile, the father opens the door and smiles as he watches them play.
"Oh no, the prince is trapped, too. Who cares about danger when there's love?" Anna said in a deep voice while mimicking the two snow figures kissing. This grossed out Elsa.
"Ugh, Anna, bleugh. Kissing won't save the forest," Elsa told her. "The lost fairies cry out." Elsa says as she pretends to make a trumpeting sound for the fairies.
"What sound does a giraffe make?" Elsa asked Anna who shrugged her shoulders.
"Nevermind. They wake the fairy queen, who breaks the spell, and saves everyone," Elsa shouted as she threw a snow figure of the fair queen at the snow goblin.
"And they all get married," Anna said, making Elsa giggle.
At this point, both of their parents were in the room watching them.
"What are you playing?" Agnarr asked them.
"Enchanted forest," Anna replied.
Agnarr thinks for a second and says, "That's like no enchanted forest I've ever seen." This got his daughters attention.
"You've seen an enchanted forest before," Elsa asked. "Wait, what," Anna said, her curiosity also peaked.
"I have. Once." Agnarr says as he begins reminiscing his past. "And you've NEVER told us before?" Anna asked while standing up.
"Well, I could tell you now, if you uh…" Agnarr never got to finish as his daughters were already on Elsa's bed ready to hear the story. "Now. Okay. Tell us now." the girls said, barely able to contain their excitement.
"Are you sure about this?" Iduna asked her husband, not sure if this was a good idea. "It's time they knew," Agnarr assured her as he heard Anna whispering to Elsa, something about a snowman. "If they can settle down and listen." Agnarr says, in which they responded by holding their breaths, making their father chuckle. He then begins the story.
"Far away, as north as we can go, stood a very old and very enchanted forest. But its magic wasn't that of goblin spells or lost fairies. It was protected by the powers of the most powerful spirits of all. Those of air, of fire, of water, and earth." As he's telling the story, four stone pillars representing said spirits appeared.
"But it was also home to the mysterious Northuldra people." Agnarr tells them.
"Were the Northuldra magical, like me?" Elsa asked with curiosity.
"No, Elsa, they were not magical. They just took advantage of the forest's gifts." Agnarr tells her as an image appears of the Northuldra people using the spirits' magic in their everyday lives.
"Their ways were so different from ours…" he continued, "but still, they promised us friendship."
"In honor of that, King Runeard, my father and your grandfather, built them a mighty dam to strengthen their waters. It was a gift of peace."
"That's a big gift of peace." Anna replied.
"And I was so honored to get to go to the Forest to celebrate it." Agnarr says as he remembers that very day. "I wasn't at all prepared at all for what that day would bring. We let down our guard. We were charmed. It felt so… magical." Agnarr said with a smile. But that smile turned into a frown. "But something went wrong. They were attacking us. The fighting was brutal and your grandfather... was lost. The fighting enraged the spirits, they turned their magic against us all. Then, there was this voice. And someone saved me. I'm told, the spirits then vanished, and a powerful mist covered the Forest, locking everyone out. And that night, I came home King of Arendelle." He finished as he blew out the candle he was holding.
Anna was shocked. "Whoa, papa. That was epic. Whoever saved you, I love them." She said in a dreamy tone.
"I wish I knew who it was." He said. But he did know. He smiled at his wife who smiled back.
"What happened to the spirits? What's in the forest now?" Elsa asked.
"I don't know." Agnarr said. "The mist still stands. No one can enter. And no one has ever come out."
"So we're safe." Iduna assures Elsa.
"Yes." Agnarr responded. "But the Forest can wake again. And we must be ready for whatever danger it may bring."
"And on that note, how about we say goodnight to your father?" Iduna says, feeling that he's said enough.
"Aw, but I still have so many questions." Anna complained.
"Save them for another night, Anna." Agnarr tells her as he's about to leave the room.
"You know I don't have that kind of patience." She says to her sister.
"Why did the Northuldra attack us anyway? Who attacks people who give them gifts?" Anna asked.
"Do you think the Forest will wake again?" Elsa asked her mother.
Her mother looks at her and says, "Only Ahtohallan knows."
"Octa-who-what?" Anna asks.
Iduna looks back at the girls. "When I was little, my mother would sing a special song about a river called "Ahtohallan". That was said to hold all the answers to the past. About what we are a part of."
"Wow", Anna said in amazement.
"Will you sing it for us?" Elsa asked. "Please?"
Iduna thought for a moment. "Ok. Cuddle close, scooch in", she said as she began the song.
"Where the Northwind
Meets the sea.
There's a river
Full of memory.
Sleep my darling safe and sound.
For in this river, all is found.
In her waters
Deep and true
Lie the answers
And a path for you.
Dive down deep into her sound
But not too far or you'll be drowned.
Yes, she will sing to those who hear
And in her song, all magic flows.
But can you brave what you most fear?
Can you face what the river knows?
Where the Northwind
Meets the sea
There's a mother
Full of memory.
Come, my darling, homeward bound.
When all is lost
Then all is found."
And with that, her daughters were fast asleep. After tucking them in, she herself went to bed. But no one knew of what would come later that night.
(Later that night)
It was peaceful in the castle of Arendelle as everyone was asleep. Well, everyone except a certain strawberry blonde girl.
"Psst, Elsa. Elsa. Come on wake up wake up wake up," Anna repeated as she tried to shake her sister awake.
"Anna, go back to sleep," Elsa said, barely awake.
Anna sighs and lays down on Elsa. "I just can't. The sky's awake, so I'm awake, so we have to play."
"Go play by yourself." Elsa then forces her off the bed and she lands on the ground. But before Anna could give up, she asked Elsa the one question she couldn't resist.
"Do you want to build a snowman?"
Elsa opened her eyes and smiled.
The two then go down to the ballroom and begin playing with the help of Elsa's powers. After sledding down a snow bank, Anna then begins jumping from pillar to pillar as Elsa makes them. But Anna starts to go a little too fast.
"Slow down," Elsa yells. All of a sudden, she slips and sees Anna jump again. Only this time, there was no pillar for her to land on.
"ANNA!", Elsa yells as she tries to make another pillar, but ends up hitting Anna in the face.
"ANNA!", Elsa cries out as she runs to her. When she reaches her sister, she sees a strand of her hair turn white from where she hit her. "MAMA, PAPA!"
As she holds her unconscious sister in her arms, she starts to lose control and ice starts spreading over the room.
After assessing the situation, Agnarr decides to take Anna to the mountain trolls, hoping they could help.
"Please, help," he called out, "It's my daughter."
Suddenly, all the boulders start to roll towards the royal family, when they're close enough they all uncurled and showed themselves as the mountain trolls. The elder, Grand Pabbie, came forward.
"Your majesty," he respectfully bowed and then asked, "Born with the powers or cursed?"
"Born", Agnarr tells him, "And they're getting stronger.
Grand Pabbie inspects Anna. "You were lucky it wasn't her heart. The heart is not so easily changed. But the head can be persuaded."
He then removes all magic from Anna's memories while leaving the fun. He then tells Elsa that while her powers held beauty, they also held danger. Fear would be her enemy.
Suddenly, Anna started showing signs of discomfort and another strand turned white. Everyone was shocked, including Grand Pabbie.
"Impossible, some of the ice is still there."
"Is there nothing else you can do?" Iduna asks as she begins to sob.
Grand Pabbie thinks for a moment and sighs.
"I believe the best option is to take her to HIM." At the mention of HIM, all the trolls gasp, leaving the royal family confused.
"Him?" Agnarr asks.
They follow Grand Pabbie deeper into the valley until they come to a pillar with a statue of a dragon sitting on top of it.
"Oh Great Protector of our valley," he says to the statue, "We desperately need you to help this little girl. She's in danger from magic."
For a second nothing happens. Then, the statue begins to move. It's eyes open as it roars as it hops down, making the ground shake when it lands.
The family is in shock.
"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!" Agnarr yells as he forces his wife and daughters behind.
Seeing their fear, the elder troll begins to explain. "No need to panic. This is the protector of our valley. Rigid Leviathan, a Titan Wing Sentinel dragon."
He then gestures for them to come forward. Despite the hesitation, they had to do it for Anna's sake. Then the creature begins sucking out the last of the magic from Anna and blasts it into the sky with its fire.
After that, the royal family returned to the castle and took all the possible safety measures. Closing the gates, reducing the staff, limiting all contact with people to Elsa, and keeping her powers hidden from everyone, including Anna. Things were never the same again.
And that's chapter 2.
Sorry for the long wait, writing a story is harder than it looks. I decided to spice things up with a Titan Wing Sentinel with a catchy name. I was planning to put dragons in the Enchanted Forest story but decided against it just because. Anyways, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Until next time! :)
